Can someone suggest another forum where I can go for help?
The last 5 or 6 times I've posted questions here, I've gotten no answers at all. I really need help. My tablet was bricked because I lost ADB connection while updating the system partition. I know there is a way around this - I have a custom recovery and an unlocked bootloader - but I need help from someone who knows more than I do. No one here is going to help me, I know. Where do I go? Where can I find someone knowledgeable and helpful?

Have you tried booting to recovery from bootloader and regaining an ADB connection? This should be all you need.

I was updating my Nexus 10 tablet - had gotten to the system partition - when I lost the ADB connection. I've since learned that's a problem with newer Macs (I was connected to Windows through Parallels). Here's a link to a thread about that:
https://code.google.com/p/android/i...Stars Reporter Opened&groupby=&sort=&id=65301
Because of the lost connection, the system partition did not flash and my tablet is bricked. There is no operating system so it can't boot into Android, but it can boot into the Bootloader and Recovery mode. All the other partitions are fine.
I have a custom recovery (TWRP) and an unlocked bootloader, but I'm at a loss to figure out how to flash the system.img file. I can't boot to Android so I can't connect through ADB in Fastboot mode to flash the ordinary way. I am connected through ADB when I'm in Recovery mode, but I can't use the flash command in Recovery mode. Nor can I figure out a way to make TWRP flash the partition by running it as a zip file - mainly because I can't figure out what the update.zip file should consist of. There was an OTA update file on my device when I started the manual update (manual updates fail), but I didn't look at it and didn't save it.
I tried pushing the system.img file to the Nexus 10 using the Linux dd command, but that doesn't work with the system partition, which uses a special format. The details are explained here, but I don't fully understand it:
http://www.modaco.com/forums/topic/327661-how-to-backup-the-systemimg-bootimg-and-recoveryimg/
After spending about 8 hours on this last night, I believe the only way I can fix it is to create an update.zip file that uses a Linux script to flash the system partition, but this is way beyond my skill set and I can't find a model for how to do this anywhere. All tutorials I've found for creating zip files for flashing are for installing apps, not flashing a system partition - which is even more complicated than flashing, say, a boot partition. Nor can I find an update.zip file from someone's cache (sure wish I'd saved mine) to use as a model. I'm looking for someone with this kind of high level knowledge who can give me guidance - or someone who can refer me to someone who has this kind of knowledge.
I solved this problem.
Hello, guys! It's now my 2nd post asking the exact same help. I'm very desperate to fix my phone : Asus Zenfone 5.
I have been looking for solutions for a long time, I'm not easily quit on googling. So far, this problem is one that haven't been fixed and very unlikely to be fixed
I have contacted many people including that Taiwan guy who is an expert on Zenfone 5 (forgot the name) and I'm EXTREMELY DESPERATE
I know this problem might be similiar with other case, but this one seems to be rare, because I have not found the solution.
Here is the timeline before my device got soft-bricked :
1. I upgraded to Lolipop with a different version of it's recovery, but still worked.
2. One day, ANR Keeps reporting that SystemUI has stopped. Rebooted and the phone went bootloop.
3. (probably the problem) I flashed wrong version of recovery (I think it was kitkat's recovery) and after then, I'm not able to get into DROIDBOOT.
I have tried several ways :
1. Sending package to my phone over ADB Sideload (It says something like error mounting blabla)
2. Flashing with xFSTK (It says something about driver, and I googled it. Found everyone with the same problem, endless solutions)
3. Downloaded about 1 gig of files (DEBRICK Files) and still, gets stuck somewhere.
So anyone have a solution for me, please?? I'm totally desperate right now, I lost hope. Never had this kind of problem, the thing is that so far, I never had such never-solved case in my life, I will always
find a solution from Google even that would take a long time. I have been searching passively for about 8 months, and I got none of those works
I will be very thankful if anyone would try to help this problem, I will bring detailed information you want, because I don't have solutions left.
Sorry for bad English
Thank You so much!
From what I know (even though I am far from being an expert, just tried and researched a lot), there is no way to fix it.
The bottom line of the problem is that you can't repartition internal storage of zenfone 5 because of x86 architecture, there is no proper Linux partition tools for it. And the oem partitioning via bootloader just fails (gpt command failed).
this type of problem has raised extremely in last month because of some reason.
I just don't understand why but, perhaps, some error in the recent twrp version/s or flash scripts.
My zf5 is a full brick now with no chance for salvation, service can't fix it as well, says impossible to repartition because of the mentioned above.
Hope, I'm wrong
Try @dgadelha "unbrick" package what contain system in .raw format
It will not help. Because any unbrick method involves repartition, which is impossible in this case.
---------- Post added at 09:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:55 PM ----------
But, @kihope12, that would be great if you post a link to that package or thread. Thanks!
Normaly i know link only for zenfone assist, what dont work anymore, so.. just try search on XDA
Well.. I'm done then.. I had so much hope with that phone after recovering it from bootloop.. Now there is no chance to get it back..
Anyway, thanks a lot for letting me know about this, otherwise I would keep looking for something impossible to fix.. And, you seem to know much about this.
Thanks again!!
Hello,
after a failed attempt at rooting my Ticwatch I am now stuck in a bootloop. Is there any way to get into recovery or the bootloader without using adb?
(I tried pushing the button after the vibration, holding it down for ~30 secs. and swiping basically in any direction possible) I cant use adb or fastboot because my computer wont detect the device and im only getting to the Ticwatch logo in the boot sequence. Can I have any hope for fixing this or do I have permanently bricked this thing?
Any help is appreciated!

I didn't attempt rooting yet, I only unlocked the bootloader.
I noticed that while booting, I was able to execute adb commands (using the charging cable for connection), including rebooting commands.
Aren't you able of doing that?
What recovery did you use, by the way?
EDIT: ew, I just noticed you mentioned your PC not detecting the smartwatch. Maybe try changing PC, since it's strange actually.

Is this still relevant? Or did you manage to revive it already? Because I may be able to help here but you'll have to give me a few hours to get some dumps off of the watch which you can flash back via the MediaTek Flash Tool.

No, its not relevant anymore. After not getting any answers for half a month I tried my luck with the Mobvoi support. They somehow approved my warranty request and I sent the watch back to them. Now I´m waiting for my replacement. But thanks for your help anyways, if I ever try it again and also mess up again I will contact you

Oh boy you'll have a fun time waiting then... Mobvoi support is one of the ****tiest so far sadly, according to stories on Facebook people sent in their watches for repair a few months ago and haven't heard anything back yet.
But yeah, flashing back the partitions via the flash tool would've been tricky too anyways since we don't have the things Mobvoi used when making the watch

Funny Story: First I requested a repair wich was declined. I sent them a video of the bootloop and they still asked for more information and seemed to have no idea what a bootloop is. Then I sent them a warranty request with exactly the information provided in the other request and it got approved instantly.
I made a huge mistake with my Asus Zenphone 5Q (ZC600KL) and I'm freaking out. I rooted my phone and I accidentally deleted - like actually deleted - some google apps that I shouldn't have. So I thought oh hey no big deal I'll just reset the phone in TWRP. I ended up completely wiping my OS. So I went to the Asus website and downloaded the stock firmware for my device just to find out when I try to install it in TWRP I get an error that prevents me from installing it. I double checked and it is the correct firmware that I downloaded but in TWRP installer it says "Updater process ended with Error 7" and it also says "E3004: This package is for "ASUS_X017D_2" devices; this is a "wt89199"". So I tried looking for the WT89199 stock firmware online and there is next to nothing other than literally ONE google drive link that isn't even working which doesn't even make sense. The asus website doesn't seem to have this stock firmware.
I feel really hopeless I've never messed up this bad before and I feel like I've looked everywhere and I just can't find any solutions this time. This is pretty much my last resort. If anyone knows how where I can get the right firmware or fix TWRP so I can install the firmware from the ASUS website, I would be so grateful. I'm completely out of options..
UPDATE: I think I may have found a solution with the right firmware but I still can't boot it up. Here is the link to the files ( https :// mshare.io /file/2fSAy4 - remove the spaces I'm new so I can't post links ) if someone more experienced could look at them and determine how I should go about getting it on my device. Right now I have no OS and can only access TWRP. Anyone know what to do with this?[/B]
UPDATE - SOLUTION: THANK GOD IN THE HEAVENS I'VE FIGURED IT OUT. MY PHONE IS FIXED. Someone please pin this or save it or something because I've seen a few other people with this issue and no resolved answers anywhere so if you are struggling with this issue, HERE IS THE SOLUTION for the ASUS Zenphone 5Q ZC600KL. If you're a dumbass like me and accidentally wiped your OS like I did and you were lucky enough to have TWRP and fastboot still available, you still have a fighting chance. Go to https :// mshare.io /file/2fSAy4 (remove the spaces) and download the file. I already scanned it and there are no viruses but feel free to also do so yourself. Next, you are going to want to extract the file into its own folder. Plug your device into your computer via USB cable and start your device up into fastboot mode. Now, inside the folder you just extracted is a file called "SOP_to_flash_Images_by_fastboot_v1.1-en". Open that and it has instructions for both Windows and Linux operating systems to flash these files onto your device.
Side note: if you get an error that says something like "target didn't report max-download-size sending 'modem' fastboot mode..." etc etc after executing "flashall_AFT.cmd 1", try plugging your usb cable into a different port. I had this issue and switched ports and everything worked smoothly after and all the files will automatically flash onto your device.
If there are any mods that can add the download file directly to this post in case it ends up getting taken down in the future, this would be so incredibly helpful because there are currently no solutions to this issue other than this post. There really isn't much recovery info out there at all about the Asus Zenphone 5Q so I hope this will be a first step!

I have the same phone Asus ZenFone ZC600KL X017DA
This phone is actually the wife's but she handed it over to me because it was stuck on the Asus Logo and there is no recovery options the only 2 modes it has is CSC fastboot mode and EDL mode .. fastboot commands detects the phone and will display a serial number that match what's on the phones box device information states false under bootloader unlocked same with unlock critical
Trying to flashall will just throw up an error write protected
Issue is I cannot unlock the bootloader with the given tool from Asus as it's an apk file and phone doesn't boot and for the same reason I cannot enable OEM unlock and debugging
So kinda screwed and based on all the firmwares that Asus has for this phone I'm guessing around 15 maybe more from early 2018 until now so I cannot be sure I even got the right version
I have to make clear this phone has NEVER been rooted or modded in anyway not unless you count cracked screen glass as a mod haha
I should note the ball n chain did say for a while the phone was getting a bit hot I put that down to the fact she has mobile data active always and making videos and charging at same time
So I didn't happen to back up my scatter or boot.img files when I used fastboot to try and flash the TWRP for the onn 10 inch, I was assuming it would work, but now I'm stuck with no recovery, no fastboot, no system, won't boot up when you hold the power button.
The only method of recovery I have is through MTK preloader and spflash, but I don't have the correct factory images or scatter file required to reflash stock. I've been looking everywhere online and can't find the right recovery files or any guides on how to recover from this.
Any help/files/advice would be greatly appreciated!!
Two things, I got access to my old account after a password reset
and, I got my tab back up and running, as well as root & xposed + gravitybox
I'm working on a guide as we speak.
Also, I will be dumping my firmware and adding the 10001885 to the list of stock image dumps on the main onn thread.
Hope this helps if still needing it, scatter file for the 100011885 mt8168 , good luck not responsible for anything lol i still cant get mine to work, anklosburner

Hey, i've had that same issue but have since fixed it by flashing the rom to the 100011886. I used some of the posts here to flash both vbmeta.img and boot.img to gain root, with success https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/17LtLtjKg4JJU9EJdIXPsyNjen0H-ilMX?usp=sharing . i eventually went too far and currupted my rom and had a hard time finding the stock ROM. I found the stock ROM to the 100011886 and flashed that to fix the problem, now i run that as my system and it boots up just fine. https://www.mediafire.com/file/107jp6gwbiwq87q/MT8168_ONN_Gen2_100011886.zip/file
fastboot erase super
fastboot flash super super.img
Would you happen to have the preloader bin file for the MT8168? After digging around, you have helped me get closer to bringing my hard brick back to life.

Any rom you come across has to be extracted in order to get any necessary files from it. The thread mentions using 7zip but I've personally had better results extracting using ZArchiver. Also, a workaround I've found very useful when dealing with extraction issues, is removing the extension from the file. If all else fails, you may need to erase the super partition and reflash THAT

Thanks for the response. I'm at the end of that thread currently trying to see what I can find to fix my issue. Aside from buying another one from Walmart and trying to see if I can pull everything from a vanilla tablet, I'm not sure if I'll ever find the exact files.

I wish I would have waited until I read this today instead of further messing with it yesterday. It looks like everything you have is what I need, but now I am battling trying to get the COM port to stay active when the device is plugged in. I'll tinker with it and see if I can get back to the state I had it in yesterday where it was staying connected.

Would you happen to know/remember all the settings you checked in SP Flash Tool (I assume you used that) when you flashed things to get it working? It seems that my PC is able to communicate with the device again, but I'm unsure of how to proceed next.
Have you installed all of the adb & mtk drivers? If so, you should be able to use adb to reboot into the boot loader then use fast boot to flash the super file

It's hard bricked at the moment unfortunately, so there's no appearance of life to it. Attached picture is the error I get. https://www.gizmoadvices.com/list-sp-flash-tool-error-codes-solution-fix/ appears show info about the error, but it's not something I know how to fix yet.
The only way I can get the tablet to make moves in device manager (which I assume is a sign that the PC can at least partially recognize/see the device) is to click on Download in SPFT, connect tablet to PC via USB cord, and then hold down power button, which led to the error. Errors in SPFT I've received so far are 0xC0060001 and 0xC0060003.
When the tablet is active in the device manager, I assume that the device is in a powered state. However, when the device is grayed out, I assume it's in a powered off state (see other pic). I've yet to find away to actually flash anything to it.

Also, apologies if I'm being a bother, but do you know what version of SPFT you used as well as which DA file?
