[Q] Dead Nexus 7 after OTA update

My rooted Nexus 7 recieved it's OTA to KitKat and after installation it's been stuck on KitKat logo boot just like many others out there. After trying to reset it and even trying to download kitkat image and use ADB I still can't get to install. I belive that CWM version 6.0.1.9) is the culprit. After sending the update file to it all I get is message that it can't find file.
Any help is appreciated. I can add that I am quite good with ADB and command line I just can't get it to find the file. If anybody can point me to a solution thread thank you in advance I don't mind reading and learning.
Regards
Mine failed also. It is soft bricked and it boots to the android on its back with 'no command' below. I can boot to boot loader, but not recovery. So far my attempts to use fastboot to flash stock have failed. I bought a replacement warranty with my Nuxus 7 and I may just give up and have it replaced under warranty. This nexus was not rooted or altered in any way...it was fully stock and the OTA failed.

I don't have extended warranty so...I still need a way to push a zip over to it and use CWM to install an OS to it.
EDIT: I seem to have a pritty good idea as to why I can't install OS. It appears that I don't have Nexus 7 MTP driver installed on my win7 machine. Any idea as to how to get that on without having a wirking Nexus 7 to plug it in and have win7 do it automagically ?
Problem solved. Mod can lock the thread.

[Q] Can't boot in any OS anymore (Nexus 7)

Hi guys,
I am new to this Forum and I am German so please understand that my english is not the best.
A few days ago I flashed my Nexus 7 (2012) with the newest Ubuntu Touch Version after having android before. After succesfully flashing the device with the OS it booted with no problem but UbuntuTouch didn't quite come to my expectations, so I decided to switch back to Android. I tried that by simply following the steps that are suggested on the Ubuntu webpage but that did not work out. I tried to just load the Android package to tablet in some other way but now I have the problem, that UbuntuTouch is still installed but when I try to boot it, it gets stucked in a bootloop.
I already tried to "wipe data/factory reset" in the recovery mode but it isn't working. At least bootloader and recovery mode are working fine.
I hope there is some way you can help me solve my problem, if there is anything unclear feel free to ask.
Daniel
I'd suggest asking in the Nexus 7 forum. They know what to do. We probably don't as it's different for every device and the chance that someone comes around who has a Nexus 7 as well is much higher in the Nexus 7 forum. (You know why. ^^)
Please add whether you own the 2012 or 2013 model. Then report your own post by clicking on the orange triangle on the right side of your post and in the text field describe that you want your thread to be moved (ask politely ). Then it'll be in the N7 forum and the people over there will be able to help you. Good luck.

[Q] EMERGENCY - Lost kernel and rom, can I recover?

So super sorry for this one, but 9 hours of trying has left me no choice but to beg for help and I am running out of time to search for the solution.
Ok, I have softbricked my s5360B, foolishly I didn't make a rom and/or kernel backup before I tried messing around with my phone, I was trying to simply network unlock my device, I return back to the UK from Brasil on Saturday and I need an operational phone so I can get home.
I settled on using JellyBlast rom for my installation but after running into installation errors like (status 7) and later on a (status 0) I got frustrated and tried installing any of the .zip files (JVBota1signed.zip and filetypes similar to). And I think I messed up badly - the phone when booting has the original 'samsung galaxy y s5360b' screen but does not move past it, at one point it flicked back an to from this splash screen and Vivo (brasil network carrier) but now it does not. I still can boot into CWM recovery (v6.0.4.9) which is a good sign I think.
As a mac user I am a little adversed to using Odin - Windows 7 via Parallels recognizes the phone and begins installation of stuff, but hangs up at 'setup connection', so I think I need a solution that I can use just the SD card for. I need a fix as quick as possible - I have only 2 days left here and during that time I have to say my forever goodbyes to my love.
Bottom line - I need my phone operational ASAP - I don't care about what version of rom or kernel it is running (be it factory stock or custom), just so long as I can be network/carrier unlocked. If you have a viable solution for me can you please post links to downloads for the files I need? And if there is any more complexity than 'install this then this' then I may struggle. What do I do?
Really appreciate the efforts of the community, thanks guys!

The rom you mentioned is a banned rom
You have 2 options
Option 1
If you can get into recovery mode (Vol up home button power button)
Download any stock based custom rom
Go into cwm
Format system data cache
Mount system data cache
Flash rom zip
Assuming that you are using a stock based kernel it will boot
Option 2
Flash stock rom via odin
See my firmware thread link in my signature
Note you can use standard 5360 firmware instead of the b variant which may be better
Posting to say I didn't get the phone to work still, but I got home without too much trouble. needless to say this thread is no longer an emergency.
I want to express my gratitude to you guys for helping me out, thank you so very much.
Unfortunately as I say the phone does still not work -
With multiple attempts using ODIN I keep getting the hangup at 'setup connection' - I tried on mac via parallels (windows 7) and a windows 8 machine.
I can successfully install a ROM via CWM but the phone gets stuck in a boot loop (samsung galaxy y splash screen) so I'm guessing I have a kernel problem? When I try flashing a new kernel I get the "error mounting /sd-ext!" message, and the same when I try to format it via CWM. I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1750888, but I cannot boot the phone so I guess I'm stuck.
My last install attempt was these
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2462914 - V3LenoxEvolution ---- SUCCESSFUL INSTALL.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2644262 - Blackheart kernel ---- FAILED, error mounting /sd-ext
Got any other ideas guys? Or do you know where I'm going wrong?
I think I'm in way over my head :s
Many thanks once again!
EDIT: some additional information, I cannot reboot to bootloader, and as far as I can tell I can't replace the custom recovery CWM v6 (I find a different version, boot into CWM v6, click install .zip from sd card and say CWM v5 launches, but when I reboot it's back to v6)
Flash stock rom via odin....
Flashing other diffrent ROM packages won't help until you have right bootable kernel...
So put your efforts towards making it to boot up on a stock firmware....
By ODIN mode
Try installing drivers and checking that no other device is connected to pc via USB.
Also make sure you follow the guide properly....
Then post errors ...or try google...
We'll help...

Help used device spoof now note 4 wont start and wont flash

No need to explain why i needed to spoof my device but i tried editing the biuld.prop to sm-n9005 ( note 3) it didnt work but didnt chage it back as it made no difference other than chnage in device settins. so i downloaded device spoof and change it to another brand cant remmeber all i needed was for it to not be abote 4 cause of screen resolution and certain apps arnt compatable. anyway i spoofed it downloaded the app and the ask device spoof to return to previous and when phoone rebooted it stuck on the first boot screen note 4 android , so i thought i would reflash with stock rom but now when i try to flash it says Unsupported dev type on the phone and fails to flash.
is there away to reflash boot loader kernel or anything i can do as i think it wont flash cause it now thinks the phone is something different .
please have mercy have done this sort of thing in past with no problems i am thinking cause i didnt change the build prop back to the note 4 from note 3 device spoof has reflashed it to a note 3
or is there away to get odin to force flash and get past the phone saying unsupported dev type
any help trying to solve this would be very greatfull
I can get into download mode and the stock recovery but it says install anything from sdcard is locked and adb is locked when i try to select them
thanks
steve

sorry everyone turns out the site that said the stock rom was for my phone was wrong managed to get the stock rom from better site and now phone currently been set up again as we speak on stock rom just need to root it then can install the app as i manage to download the app and will change the resolution using adb next time instead of trying to use a shrt cut by using an app that obviously is not suitable for all phones that it is used on as a number of people have reported the same thing.
thanks everyone and this is my lesson to be learned

[Q] HELP! only able to load stock recovery and bootloader

Hi all. New poster and completely non-tech savy. Over the last few days I've been tinkering with my phone trying to learn about various roms and related. I had successfully flashed the CM11 update to my droid X but found that the OS was running extremely slow. example ( while trying to talk through hangouts it would take 2-3 seconds for each letter to not only to show up but also register so I could type my next letter.) This having been the case I tried to downgrade the OS to stock or some older rom. Since going through the steps I find myself in alot of trouble! I am now able to load stock recovery and bootloader only! I am unable to get into Twrp or CWM at all. The phone if loaded regularly will only go as far as the Motorola logo and no further. It will stay on that logo until the battery is taken out. I am unable to power down or reboot otherwise. Unfortunatley I am unable to supply official information like Build and the related but I can say before flashed to CM11 it was the standard Droid X 2.3.4.621 M810 and the CM 11 build was the most recent CM 11 (shadow) build as of 5/18/2015. I need help to load into Twrp or whatever I can do to just load past the motorola logo screen. Oh lastly, I have installed the Motorola Driver program but my computer doesnt seem to be able to find the connection. It does show on device manager and states it is fully upto date driver wise. However it isnt found in RSD Lite run as admin. PLEASE help and or let me know of any information you need to assist me further. Keep in mind though at this time the info i have access to is very limited because of the access i dont have to the phone.

Thats actually the guide I was following. Followed everything and started getting caught up at the RSD lite part. Tried all the provided solutions but phone still isn't found by RSD lite. Please help me get over that hump. Hoping it will be all down hill from there. Device manager is showing phone as "Motorola USB Device > Motorola Flash Interface" Not what your guide shows. Have tried updating drivers from manager but it claims I have the most up to date. Using Windows 8.1 dont know if thats relevant, Thanks for the help btw.
OMG! I DID IT!!! Thanks for the help. After searching for an answer/fix for DAYS I figured it out. Your Guide is AWESOME and very helpful but the one thing it didn't mention which is what I did to make it all finally work was to download VMplayer and do everything in a Windows 7 OS. You might want to add that to your guide as a troubleshooting step. Otherwise, THANK YOU!!!
