Backup TWRP to PC for Samsung Tab A SM-T280? - Samsung Galaxy Tab A series Questions & Answers

I need to make a full image backup with all data and partitions, however, I can not backup to SD because I am using the SD as internal storage. I need to be able to backup to my computer from TWRP. How do I accomplish this?

Just use a USB stick and an OTG adapter. I don't have your specific tablet but my SM-T585 let's me back up via OTG without issues.

nookmanager backup

How do I access the backup from the SDcard I used to root with nookmanager? I believe the backup is on a second partition that isn't visible or formatted for windows.

Windows doesn't like multiple partitions on removable drives so you can't get to it with a card reader on your PC (at least not easily). Boot your Nook from the NookManager SD card then connect to your PC and two drives will show up - the NookManager partition and the backup partition. This will be also be good troubleshooting for your problem with your rooted NST not working as a USB drive with Windows. If you still don't get USB drives showing up in Windows even when booted into NookManager then I would suspect a cable or connector problem.

File transfers to usb or sdcard (turned into internal storage) question

Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone can help me. I'm trying to put files like emulator files on my usb drive that has been converted internal storage (usb). My computer won't read the usb after it is formatted to be an internal storage.
I have the files on a sdcard but wondering how I can transfer all that to be on the usb drive.
Please let me know thanks!
As far as I know once you format any external storage as internal then that drive is going to be encrypted. This is the reason why your PC won't read it when you insert it back to its own USB ports. You can read it via NSTV if you connect it to your computer via USB cable as long as you enable USB debugging. To recover the USB for general use you have to erase it from NSTV/storage and then eject and then it might work again on your PC. I said it might because sometimes you would have to do a low lever format to completely remove the encryption. Good luck.

Adoptable Storage & TWRP

Hi guys,
I've done a lot of research into this and have read multiple posts about it, but can't seem to find a decent solution....
Basically, adoptable storage on 6.0 will format the SD card in such a way that only your phone can recognize it. TWRP and your PC won't be able to read the SD card at all. In that case, what's the best way to bypass this?
I'm assuming that you just format 50% of the card as adoptable storage, so the rest can be used by TWRP/PC? It just seems kind of annoying because if you need to flash a new ROM, or if your ROM has issues etc, you'd have to constantly move the data to your SD card's normal storage, otherwise it's unreadable. I'm talking about stuff like Titanium Backups, which I believe can't be saved onto the normal SD card storage, etc.
Looks like I found the answer myself.
Don't bother using that script from Modaco (unless you're on stock 6.0 ROMs). Just format the card as adoptable SD in the ROM itself (I'm using Resurrection Remix), then reboot. Your PC will pick up the SD card via MTP no problem. If that doesn't work, boot into TWRP (make sure you're using 3.0.2.2-test as of this current writing) and select micro-SD (adoptable storage). It should show up via MTP as well.
Looks like nothing is affected as TWRP and my PC can still read the card despite being formatted as adoptable. Problem solved.
Update 2:
If you are using stock official ROM, then adoptable storage won't be visible via MTP. You can use TWRP to access it though, but make sure you're using the latest TWRP. On the phone itself, you can use something like Root Explorer and browse to the following path to access the adoptable storage contents:
/mnt/expand/xyzblahblah/media/0
the xyzblahblah part is a long random string. It might look different on your phone.
Note that Titanium Backup can't recognize this path. You can browse to it, but it can't access it. Best to format your card as 50/50 adoptable/portable storage.

nandroid backup on PC?

hi, as we know s6 can't accept external SD card, i want to make nandroid backup by TWRP but there are not available storage in my phone, i need program or idea to make it directly on PC , and restore it when I need

USB OTG Nougat

Is there anyway I can change the mount point of a USB otg to an external SD card or at least a partition that's accessible to certain apps like titanium backup and es file explorer on Nougat ROMs? I know its mounted as mnt/mediarw/... / but it's only useful for transferring files from and to the USB and doesn't allow apps to access it which I need for storing and restoring apps/data for or from titanium since I don't have much space on the 32gb g2 anymore. Most of the time I only have about 2 or 3gb of space left which isn't enough for nandroid backups(5-9gb of space) and I end up saving it on the sd card anyway but I have to restore it to the device storage if I want to restore apps or data from it.
