Samsung S8 firmware - Questions regarding flashing - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Hey guys, I have a Samsung S8 which I was running LinageOS on but now was to revert back to the stock android ROM.
The issue I have is it appears to be a South Koera (KTC) phone, but it always has this KTMobile crap on it when I flash it. So my question is can I flash another firmware?
I need some help understanding the different components made up in the firmware and what I can and cannot deviate from (to avoid bricking).
AP
CSC
BL
CP
Which of these HAVE to be the same? Im guessing bootloader (BL) must match otherwise I will brick it.
There is also a little confusion over weather it is a SM-G950F or a SM-G950N. I have seen the phone report both.
Is there a way or a firmware I can flash without all the KTMobile crap on it, or could I just flash a New Zealand firmware as I am based in New Zealand.
The firmware I installed currently is G950NKSU5DUA2, but it is buggy and is causing crashes. Can I deviate from this G950NKSU5DUA2 and chose a different firmware?
Thanks in advance.

[Q] T-Moible Galaxy Tab flashing

Hi
Ive recently been gifted a T-mob samsung galaxy tab. I had a few questions about the same, would be very glad if someone could answer them for me
1) Is it possible to flash it with Indian/Asian firmware? I did some reading aand found out that flashing with euro firmware is possible, so this sould also be possible? If so, can someone point me as to where i might get more info on this?
2) Once flashed, and connected via Kies, if a new firmware of that region is released, would it automatically update to the new version or it will have to be done manually again?
3) Is it possible to flash back to original t-mob firmware should i need to avail warranty in the future?
you help is appreciated.

Flashing to Asian firmware is possible. I did it with Korean Firmware. However, it is useless in U.S. Market. If you are trying to flash it due to language, I would look for other solution rather than changing the whole rom.

Most likely it will need to be done manually.

Yes it is possible to flash back to T-mob firmware. Check Rotohammer's Roto backup process.

[Q] S4 Firmware and CSC from other region

Hello guys,
I would like to downgrade my i9505 with a stock ROM of April (preferrably XXUAME2) BUT due to reason we all know, I cannot find where to download it. However, I've managed to get a stock ROM from Brazil (ZTOAMDM) and I'm considering flashing it with this. My question is what is the impact of the different CSC as I live in a different region (EUROPE/GREECE), and if this change will eventually void my warranty.
I started a new thread because I coundn't clarify what's going on with CSC and regions from my previous search.
Thank you all in advance.

Flashing other country's firmware?

I am in Thailand and have NH1 firmware.
Would I get any benefit from flashing a newer firmware?
For example India has NH6 firmware.
Can I flash another country's firmware on my phone?
And, does it give any benefits?
When looking at custom ROMS many of them say they need a certain firmware before being installed.
(though they also are very buggy at the moments so I doubt I want to flash them anyway .. LOL)
Thank You
There are not any major changes in newer versions they fix some bugs thats it however you can't just flash some different countries firmware it may cause bootloop and sometimes even soft bricks ...
Edit :- there are some methods where you can flash them safely for eg changing your CSC however I don't recommend it do it on your own risk ....Here's a link to change csc

Well, I am no expert but I have flashed Indian firmware to my grand 2 whic was actually bought from Saudi Arabia. It still works fine. Similarlly, on my previous phone which I bought from Pakistan, I flashed KSA firmware that worked fine too. So, I guess only options for available languages change and nothing else gets affected adversly. Experts, kindly, express your opinion for further clarification.

[Q] Can't seem to find standard guide?

Hello,
It's been a long time since I've been these to these forums and an even much longer time since I last had to modify any kind of software on a phone. I recently upgraded to an S7 edge on Sprint and would like to know where to find the tools, roms, and files needed to go to the unlocked firmware version for the S7 edge and go back to Sprint's stock firmware if need be.
More importantly, I'd like to know what risks I encounter especially with Samsung's KNOX. Again, it's been a while so please don't flame.
Any information or direction is very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

There's not much for roms echoe is pretty nice. It lags pretty hard but theirs a fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s7/how-to/guide-to-fix-s7-lag-root-s7-variants-t3441715
As far as firmware your somewhat limited as well depending on your current firmware you may only have the latest 935p and 935U to choose from.
P.s you don't have to worry about tripping Knox I've flashed xposed govtuner viper modified Odin tars that failed miserably I'm still 0x0
Thanks for getting back to me vegoja. So as far as flashing the firmware, where can I get the necessary files? I've seen some threads mentioning or linking the ROMs so I think I'm okay there. Also, I think I'm supposed to use a special version of Odin, not sure why. Lastly, where do I get all those other necessary files like the CSC etc.?
Thanks.

Once you flash the U firmware, you can't currently go back to sprint's firmware. Something to do with the upgraded bootloader. But the U firmware is stable and smooth and has good battery performance. You can enable hotspot to without root which is a perk.
Odin: http://d-h.st/gsDA
935U PI3: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzXeLw4AsxZHZlM1OTJZYXBOQW8/view
Flash AP, BL, CP and CSC (not Home_CSC).

Hi nghia0423 and Soooperstar,
Thanks for getting back to me. So to make sure I have this correct...I can flash a 935U firmware on my phone and go back to Sprint stock firmware, but it has to be PJ2.
If this is the case, then I have a few additional questions if you don't mind. First, do the AP, BL, CSC, and CP files differ between firmware versions? If so, where do I get those files for each version?
Second, if I go back to Sprint stock firmware PJ2 (which I assume is located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...rmware-g935p-pe1-official-sprint-6-0-t3414654), will I then be able to follow the standard firmware upgrade path by allowing system updates and going through the standard update process?
Lastly, is there some risk I'm missing or haven't addressed? If I go to unlocked firmware I want to make sure I can always go back to the current Sprint stock firmware.
Thank you again for all the help and information!

Both pathways - 935P firmware & 935U firmware - offer updates via OTA. They're both official Samsung pathways. As of right now, the 935P pathway offers more frequent updates (monthly) opposed to 935U's mostly every other month update cycle.
The most current firmwares on the 935P & 935U pathways are on the same bootloader version. Therefore, one can flash back and forth with no issues. I recently came to PJ2 935P from PI3 935U so I could download the Nougat beta.
The benefit of the 935U firmware is the lack of bloatware which leads to higher performance, smoother UI, better battery life, and easy to add Hotspot functionality.

Hi optimummind,
Thanks for letting me know that I can flash back and forth between Sprint's firmware and the official unlocked firmware. I did have additional questions. Are teh AP, BL, CSC, and CP files different for each firmware version? Where do I get them?
Thanks!

SM-G3608 custom firmware or root?

I know this question has been asked already but I was wondering if anybody can tell me if the TWRP and other variant firmware are compatible with this device.
Some background, I received this phone as an exchange for an S3 mini that I took into a repair shop, as the mechanic had lost all the working parts of my original phone.
I have updated all the apps and it appears to be working well, it's just that I would like to update the firmware to something newer, such as the 5.1.1 from the g361f or at least the 5.0.2 from the g360h.
Perhaps one of the guys in the forum are a samsung expert and could explain to me what the differences are between the variants and why flashing firmware from another version may or may not work.
P.S. I am familiar with Odin and have flashed many other Samsung phones with both stock and custom firmware.
Thanks in advance.
