OnePlus 6T OS update - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Hi,
Using OP6T for years now and do not have any issue with it. It performs well in day to day task like Gaming or be it multi tasking but the only issue I have is the last software update received is Oxygen OS 11.1.2.2 based on Android 11 and I want to update my OP6T to Android 12 stable version and don't know how to do that.

If you want to update to android 12, custom ROM is the only option available.

I'm using EvoX since April 10. It very stable for me. You can try different roms for a few days to see which one work for better. Not much different in Performance and stability between all of those ROMs.

Personally i don't play mobile game that much this day. Don't take my word this personal preference.
Games perform really good. In my experience it even better than on OOS. On OOS I only get 50fps.
Here PUBG clip along with fps counter ( very short )

OPO vs D855

Hi all,
New here; long time silent follower/downloader but never posted.
I had a couple of handsets spare in the house and lately have been a bit sick of iOS so decided to dust off the old OPO and G3, and to flash a custom Nougat ROM. I thought I'd end up using the OPO as it's higher spec than the G3.
I've installed AOSP-CAF 7.1 on both phones, with stock Open-GApps.
The interesting thing is that despite the OPO having 50% more RAM and the exact same CPU, the D855 feels much snappier and gives a better user experience. Any ideas on why? Is it the kernel? Bummer at the minute as I'll be forced to use the G3, even though it only has 16GB and 2GB, also with the lower res front camera. With the display being higher res as well, I'd have expected the OPO to trounce the G3! Any ideas?
Thanks!
Change ROM ?
Or change the kernel :highfive:
Seriously, I think that is due to the kernel settings. Sometimes (i remember on Omnirom),some roms need other kernel settings to feel better and smoother

Why? I was wanting something stable & fast; I gather Lineage has bluetooth & Android Auto issues which are both deal breakers for me.

Hmmm, thought it may have been the kernel. Looks like it's some trial and error then!
Thanks.
Lol even stock Cos13.1 of OPO will perform better than Lg G3 for sure.

That's what I thought too, but when I got the ROM running on the G3 it was definitely smoother. Any suggestions for ROMs/Kernels?
Definitely want Nougat and definitely minimalist/stock Gapps. Don't like the funky custom looks on a lot of builds.

This is a stable rom based on latest lineage os with builds updated regularly and optimized kernel for as smooth as it gets performance.

No,Bluetooth works perfectly fine. Moreover if you encounter any other issues, the developer of this rom is kind enough to fix it for you.
Had a look through the thread for it, looks promising. All this though, and I dropped the OPO last night. The repair shop has it now, and they've never heard of one. Won't read the sim. Eeek.

For me it's havoc, which have more customisations than other ROM's
But every ROM has its own specialities... So, try everything and have a good experience of all
I think pixis os is better than anyone because of less bugs, stable, and performance is better than any other rom,,you can play high end games on it without too much heating,,and battery performance is also good...
Coustamisation isnt up to the mark..but will add in future build...and its the fastest rom in updates..
So you can try it..

Yes, I can confirm that for example Pubg mobile works without any huge lags and battery life is good too. Just customization missing here, but it will be included in future builds I think. There's cool community and user friendly Development too I think, because OP is active and helps other users.

Just about AEX, Yes it's my favorite ROM, but performance isn't good as any rom I think ?
I shifted to Oreo yesterday, because it's really more stable than any other pie rom.
My gaming experience with oreo is awesome, can play high end games on my land finally!

rom suggestion

hello dudes, i've been that kind of user that tries many mods and reads up about every possibility, but now sadly i have no more time for it :c (uni+work+gf+everything else)
i'm running an s7edge exy with stock rom and i'm considering switching to a custom one. actually battery life on stock is still amazing but i miss root features (and i totally hate that hecking youtube premium ad that keeps showing up) and that extra useful rotate suggestion button that came in pie.
what i'm more interested in are speed, battery and ad hoc features (always on, edge lighting, edge tabs): some friend of mine suggested me that pie performs alot better than oreo and now i'm asking: is waiting for 10 roms worth it or not (will it perform even better?) ?
would you suggest a stock rom or a samsung oneui based? is there any actual list to look up for?
ty alot ♥

Black diamond N8 v2 with Thunderstorms kernel 2.3 pie will be good for you. Good performance and battery.
If you want Android 10, Los 17 beta is out and in the coming weeks a stable version should be out.

For daily usage it performs better with good battery life. If you play games on your phone that stay on stock.

Would you suggest to wait for LOS or not? I mean, it's just about stability or there is some difference in terms of performance (between Los and black diamond)?
(and why blackdiamond n8 instead of nfe? I can't find the difference but the nfe looks more updated, isn't it?)
I would rather go with a pure 8.0 Oreo ROM that looks like it used to look on Nexus 5X. Just pure Android. Does anyone know where can I find one?

The experience on N8 id way better and the experience is more fluid. Samsung basically made the Note FE pie firmware just because they had to because of the note 7 fiasco so the libs are not well optimized. N8 is a lot better imo.
As for LOS. I will recommend waiting for the stable release of LOS17. The beta version have bugs. I also don't recommend LOS16 because i haven't had a good experience on jt.
My go to configuration is N8 with Thunderstorm kernel.

Hii! Sadly I've just discovered that LOS doesn't feature Always on nor edge lighting, or at least that is what they told me on the telegram group.
Should I pick the note based Rom that you suggested in the beginning? What about OneUI2 or Android 10?

Yes Los is based on Aosp and has no samsung crap.
Just clean android focused on performance and battery.
As fas as Oneui is Blanckdiamond is good.
Once OneUi2 is out for s10 series , developers will try to port it but porting android 10 to a legacy device is hard and i doubt s7 will get a fully stable build of OneUi2.

Looking for a good performance rom

I'm looking for a custom rom, not MIUI based, that runs smoothly and can be used on a daily basis, to play games, stream music and have a good battery life if possible, I'm open to any recommendations, I'm looking to tweak my RN7 to have a great performance.
I am using Pixel Experience 10 rn and it is doing pretty great.

OnePlus 8 Pro running Android 10 still the smoothest experience in 2021

I've tested lots of phones and done a variety of tweaks and the OnePlus 8 Pro running Android 10 is still the smoothest experience I've had with any Android device. Having tried Android 11, I experienced random stutters and lag, so I downgraded back. It's almost a placebo effect with Android 11 on both OnePlus and Samsung devices where they seem faster at first, but get choked up when running multiple tasks or even doing basic tasks. This is possibly poor memory management? I've compared the OnePlus 8 Pro to the Note 20 Ultra (which is blazing fast) and still it manages to run smoother.
I know with many enthusiasts, being on the absolute latest Android update is a badge of honor, but when the newer software is more weighted down with overlays, it's not always a better experience. OxygenOS 10 was a perfect balance of a clean AOSP build with useful customizations. For those that are curious, it is possible to uninstall the Software Update feature to remain on the last Android 10 build.

Does that include custom ROMS? I run AICP which is Android 11 and it runs super smooth with great battery saving capabilities.
Have you tried Evo X?
There's nothing I've tried in my life this smooth..

PS: battery was better on 10 I'll give you that mate
I've not tried a custom ROM as they don't work well with Verizon.

I went back to OOS10 through msm tools, and I now understand why people hate oos11 so much. 10 is better in many ways; battery life, dark mode, smoother... I will be remaining here until oos12 is released.

I always stuck with stock and still do.
Lower you peak CPU speed on each cluster and your minimum on the small cluster to 300.
Then disable zRAM, thats a massive performance boost, just be sure to close apps after as you'll max out your RAM if you're not careful
Android 11 also disables Overscan, so 10 is your limit if you're using it to hide the curved portions of the display.
