Question Rare Windows 10 Version 21H2 Issues - Windows 10, 8, 7, XP etc.

A few days ago, windows started giving blue screens when performing an operation to create a bootable drive. I do not know the exact cause or action of the process which causes such a drastic failure. If anyone knows the reason, please leave your opinion or possible solution here to read them.

MemMaid ate my MiniSD! How do I revive it?

"Just remove the smartskey renegade error message with a run of MemMaid", the post said. Sure, why not. I'm already planning a hard reset, so what harm could ever come out of it?
So I MemMaid-ed.
Didn't do very much for the error message. But it killed my MiniSd!!!
It's gone. Non-existant. Invisible. Kaputt.
I already hard-resetted, but it won't come back. I took it out and used compressed air to clean up the slot. No way. I clicked the card out and in a few times, just to see if it did anything (no, it did not).
So what am I to do now? How do I bring my MiniSD back to life?
I suppose it will involve putting it in a flashcard reader and toy with it... but is there any other (sensible) attempt to try?
[And I'm beginning to believe that this whole WM5 is in fact just another name for the Ancient Windows 3.1 Curse, when it was normal to see your Pc (and your work) crash at least a few times a day for no reason at all...]
Please, please, please help meeeeeeeee!
Just a couple of questions I wanted to ask that may help you and others trying to help you.
1. Have you tried your miniSD card on your computer? Is the information stored on there still there? Will the computer read that miniSD card?
2. Have you tried another miniSD card in your phone?

You are not the first to fall victim of the memaid! I wish it was not quoted so easily like these programs are not without their problems. I use sktools btw and find this better but i still have a healthy respect for the program and the potential damage it can do.
First i suggest if you have a card reader to use that to see if your pc recognizes your card and to backup otherwise you could loose any important data on your card.
Next i would try formating the card to fat on the device using demo version of storage tools http://www.softwinter.com/storagetools.html or sktools http://s-k-tools.com/ as this often brings the card back into view or if not recognized by your device format it on your pc.
I use MemMaid very often and never had any problems with it.
Can you tell me what you did that killed your SD Card?
I normally only use things like the Duplicates Finder for the notification queue and the Clean Function.
Hello, and thank you all for your responses!
I won't have access to a card reader until tomorrow, and I was already planning to reformat the card that way. I'll be trying the device-based solution first, though, and I'll make sure to keep you updated.
(by the way, I simply ran a standard scan & repair... can't fathom how that can be so disruptive - and without a warning!)
very innflamatory unfounded statement
Hey Your headline was completely irresponsible and unsubtantiated. Ive had quite a few devices over the years and now have two devices rubnning wm 5 and they all have copies of memaid and i have never had an issue with memaid . I do however share your sd card issue but this only happened after i updated my device to the ad2k rom upgarde two days ago. The issue isith the sd not one particaar program . whos to say that you didnt demagnetize the card or some other issue. Please before you post any thing that your so sure of but have no proof ensure that you get all the facts. If i was the maker of any software company you defamed i would surely result to legal action. Please use this forum to inquire about issues rather than being so accustory .have a great day!
It sounds like you work for DinarSoft.
I have lost part of my 1 GIG SD two times in the last weeks, but since I uninstalled Memaid, I have not seeing any more problems with my SD card.
Not really sure 100% memaid caused it, but I find it really suspicious.
I too was using Memaid just to clean duplicate notifications, but now I simply use the always trusty and free Check Notifications program from ScaryBear Software.
Best regards,
Rayan
Kinmont: I'm very glad you never had any problem with that app, but as you can read it does seem that Memmaid (and probably other, similar programs) is in fact killing cards up and down.
I'd much rather post "irresponsible" and scary threads and warn people of the risks they are taking, than skirt around the issues. I for one would have been oh so much more better off if anybody had warned me beforehand...
Oh, and by the way... quit your bullshitting litigious attitude now, dweeb. Luckily for us, outside USA people are still allowed to expose dangerous products without fear of intimidatory corporate tactics. Nyah nyah nyah.
(And if you have a problem with that, jump on a plane and come over to discuss things like a man. This girl and her Fashion Purse of Clobbering are waiting for you)
I installed Opera on my 8125 and that day my mini SD card died. Does that mean that Opera killed it or should I blame it on Memaid which I had had for months with no problems? Or is it just possible that a large percentage of these cards are defective? Kingston replaced my card for free - and paid for 2 day FedEx shipping too.

Recovery problem ! Please Help!

Vista recovery from recovery partition stalls at 21%. Solutions? Thanks
Remove the SDHC.
There are many threads in this Young Forum already regarding this problem. Please use the search tool quoting 'Recovery'.
Aww pof, ya beat me to it!!
i did remove the sdhc, and searched the forum before any suggestions now?
If all else fails! Return it under warranty...You probably have a duff Hard Drive.
not quite a solution as I'm away and be home in a week but need my shift to work now
Sorry, I know what you are up against. That's why I gave the 16Gb backup thread.
You also have to remember, this Forum IS still young and we have not come across all solutions yet but a hardware problem can usually fox all of us.
what the hell all this proplem come from
i really start heat this device

Question is, why did you have to do a recovery? Seems to me the machine isnt so
old.
As Farsquidge said, the forum is still young as this device is not so old and also, it is
quiet pricey, so not so many people are able to contribute to this forum.
Solutions will be found and have been found already.
But I somewhat agree with you, some of the decisions HTC made about this device's features make me wonder.
It just stopped working, told me to repair vista from recovery cd becouse CI.dll file was corrupt or missing. So I started recovery from HDD. And 21% forever.

I had a similar problem, but I broke my recovery partition myself when trying to slipstream a Vista lite...even my backup didnt work.
I am currently waiting for my friend to upload a recovery partiton to my server.
I will publish the link, once it is up.
But it might take some time. So I suggest to return it to the vendor and claim warranty.
Dont give up on the shift yet. I have a good feeling that we will increase usability in
the future and add many more features...e.g. Liberate SnapVue...
It seems as if many of the problems people are facing are down to the Hard Disk Drive.
This could be due to a very portable unit not being handled very carefully or maybe not having sufficient motion protection on the drive.
I know iPod's that contain HDD's suffer greatly this way that's why apple prefer solid state.
Recommendation to everyone is try to wait until your device has fully shutdown or hibernated before you start to handle it like a pocket book. Normal motion is OK but its so small we tend to handle it like a mobile phone!

[Help] HTC P3600 Trinity freezing software and tearing screen

Hi, this is my first post here I didn't have time (and will) to read the rules and everything, so I just hope that this is the right forum for this kind of request.
Since you guys have showed up to be people with nice expertises, I request your help to avoid going to any support center and spend money for something that by lucky means, may be fixed at home
The problem is that when doing some operations, the device freezes and no action can be done, whatever button I press or wherever I click with the stylo.
The only thing that can be done to restore for a while the correct functionality of the device is to remove and reinsert the battery.
I don't know exactly when this problem started to show up, because the device isn't mine, so I don't even know what can be the possible causes.
I have also to say that this problem occurred few times at the beginning, but now it happens more and more often making it impossible the use of the phone. Sometimes I even can't turn it on.
I've tried to substitute the battery, but with all of them, the problem remains.
After that I've tried the software reset, didn't solve anything.
The hardware reset didn't solve anything either.
I thought then that maybe the operating system was going nuts, so I tried to flash the device putting WM6.1 Stratos FE+ on it (of course, following the guide and without doing anything wrong), but nothing changed.
I don't know what else it could be, so before throwing this piece of garbage in the bin I ask here for the last sentence, if you can help me.
I have some pictures attached of the phone freezing and the screen tearing up (looks almost like The Matrix movie).
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
From my experience, i think your problem is due to CPU overheating.
There are similar threads on this forum, regarding your problem.
I advice you to check those threads.
have anyone fix that problem? i have the same problem, but 3months before i put a rubber between the cpu and the metal cover and it worked, but now again and the rubber dont help anymore
I didn't do anything still on my phone, I am waiting that somebody gives us an answer
The only thing I did was to reduce the backlight brightness, according to the problem this guy has on this other thread -> hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=596927
But the only thing I've got after this is that the phone lasts a bit longer before crashing
trinity
also here.
somethimes I must leave it without battery an hour or so to power up again.
nothing help. reinstal everything twice. even in stand by it freeze...
it's a wtf problem .....
also I'm very curios for some remedy. I incline to believe it's a hardware problem .....
please if anyone know how to fix that problem then say it here please
I have same model and same problem, When i press and hold central navigation key and power key it power on,and it work, few minutes....
On Monday I will overheat cpu and you hear the results ... hopefully positive
yes, please let us know. And what you mean overheat the cpu? How?
I want to fix mine too...
Thanks !!
Dear friends, problem solved ... overheating of components on PCB...

THANK YOU!!!
I have exactly the same problem with my htc can any buddy help or any sujjestion in this regard.
I have the same problem however
First, I flash back to ship ROM WM5
Second, I try to increase CPU speed up to 420 Mhz by using Pocket Hack Master
http://www.wizcode.com/articles/comments/pocket-hack-master-speed-configuration-guide/
Everything is testing, if you have your experience pls share
File as attached:
1. Install *.CAB
2. Copy patch file into folder
I join with the same problem.
Nobody has an idea how to fix that error?
@ivanish: can u please share your solution!!
how u solved that freezing problem ? plz can u share ?
thinh30 its overheating problem of cpu as i experiance this freezing problem when media player is in use for long time or during usb connection with pc
i think cpu speed should be lowered to avoid overheating and not increased
it's not that , the screen connector is destroyed , i have the same problem , it's not CPU , use search , there were solved this problem few years ago

[Q] new nook touch, stuck after root failed

I hate to have to write this asking for help but I wasn't able to use the other posts I found to help me. The directions for touchnooter seemed straight forward, but I am stuck anyway. Here is what I did and what is happening, and what I have tried to remedy situation. It is a bit long, but I wanted to be as complete as I can.
I have a new nook bought at end of March so assuming it has latest update. I followed directions and was able to get touchnooter onto microsd card. I stuck it in nook and turned on. I got an instruction screen saying to take card out when screen goes black and reboot. My screen did go dim but you could still see the writing behind. I wasn't sure if this what they meant by going black or if I was waiting for complete darkness. I think I panicked for a second (don't know why) and might have rebooted with the card still in (would this have created a problem that I will be describing).
So upon rebooting, it goes through the same reboot nook screen, gets to a screen with an n and the balls and that is the furthest I have gotten it. Messing with the power key seems to initiate a reboot, but it still never makes it past the n screen. Cannot turn off the nook. I was able to get it to give me the factory reset message by doing the failed reboot 8 times. I tried that a couple times but wasn't able to get any further past the screen with the n, so it seems it may not be doing any resetting. I tried repeating the rooting process (except for the shuting down the nook part since I can't actually get it to shut down) and it gave me the same rooting instruction page but no change the problem of not getting past n screen.
I have seen people asking similar questions about rooting with something else called CNW or something because the touchnooter didn't work for them but I didn't understand the instructions and wanted to get help first before trying something else. I had also read that there is something called a factory restore, which is supposed to be different from reset but I don't know how to do that. I downloaded barnes and nobles latest update thinking I would just reload it/ but I can't see my nook from my computer (do I need to download some drivers? Or is this because it can't get past the n screen?). I tried using a different microsd card in case the first was faulty, but didn't help.
Does it seem there is something wrong with the touchnooter content on the card, like maybe it doesn't work with the latest nook update? Also wanted to mention, I did not do a backup before trying to root. I originally planned to but after I was done researching what I needed to do and got to the touchnooter downloading directions, they didn't mention it, so I didn't do it (besides that, I don't know how to do it and don't know if it would help in this situation anyway). Could it be that the nook itself has a problem?
Anyway, I would still like to root but would be happy to at least get a basic nook back. If you have made it this far in reading my problem, what do you think I should try? I am thinking of taking it back since I don't think it actually rooted but if I can fix it, that would be better. Thanks in advance for anyone who takes the time to work on this with me. I wish I had someone right in front of me to ask questions to but this the next best thing.
Thanks!
Tara
I am really leaning towards just seeing if I can return it. The instructions for touchnooter seemed so straight forward and I thought I could handle it. Since it didn't work and I don't even know if it was a problem with something I did, the device, or the touchnooter (since other people with new nooks are having similar problems), then I don't even know if it is something that will work at all. Trying to use some of the other methods are just way beyond my ability without more detailed instructions. Sigh.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1289233
Should help You to restore to factory state. After You can use any other ways to root(if You want )
PS: From what You say, You haven`t done anything irreversible yet. So calm down reread the forum and go on
Thanks for the reply! I did come across that at one point but didn't try it. But I will give it a go once I get the nook charged (it discharges by the end of everyday while having this prob so I have to charge it back up everyday). These directions look pretty straight forward though, so I am crossing my fingers.
"I did not do a backup before trying to root...besides that I don't know how to do it and don't know if it would help in this situation anyway."
After you get your Nook back to stock state don't shy away from making the backup. And do it before you make any other changes. Having a pristine image of your Nook's original state will make you nearly bulletproof. Give yourself time to understand the issues involved in making the backup. This new knowledge will generalize to other aspects of rooting.
The instructions for making the backup are here but you may find this isn't enough information. I found this post from Renate extremely helpful.
Finally, it will be helpful to know that, done correctly, your Nook v.1.1.2 backup will be exactly 1,958,739,968 bytes.

Depend on nook memory chip used (manufacturing date) it should be either 1,958,739,968 or 1,962,934,272 bytes

Yes? I have always gotten 1,957,616,640.
Hmm, mine is 2.000.683.008.
EDIT: I think that was 1.1.0 (or 1.1.1?)

Try installing different roms to check if its not just a software-bug. if that doesnt work your digitizer is probably broken.

sorry to bring bad news mate, but my first guess would be that your digitizer has failed. Unfortunately it's a relatively common problem with the Nexus 4. To rule out easily the software, just boot the phone in recovery mode and check if the touch screen responds properly in there. If not, i wouldn't even bother flashing other roms or doing a factory reset: your only option remains sending it in for repairs... or you could always try replacing the screen by yourself.
Here are some other threads that deal with the issue:

There are also a lot of similar problems reported on google's official product forum.
