Hello guys. Before you proceed, I'll let you know that I don't own this device. Theoretically these steps should work.
1. Unlock bootloader
Go to settings>about, tap build number 7 times. This enables developer options. Here, select allow OEM unlock and USB debugging. Reboot in fastboot mode (power+vol down). Then go to this site
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a
And follow the instructions. They are pretty straightforward.
2. Install TWRP
Go to
http://lenovo-forums.ru/topic/22535-moto-m-kastomnoe-rekaveri-twrp-otklyuchenie-shifrovaniya/
And download TWRP_Moto_M.img and boot_M_S124.img
In fastboot mode type fastboot flash boot <the name of the latter file image, just drag it into the CMD window from adb and fastboot folder> then type fastboot flash recovery <TWRP file>
Then type fastboot boot <TWRP file> and voila, you are booted in custom recovery.
IMPORTANT: FOR ALL THAT IS GOOD AND FAIR, MAKE A BACKUP OF EVERY FOLDER. IF YOU MESS UP SOMEWHERE, I WON'T BE ABLE TO HELP YOU!!
Now you may proceed to rooting procedures.
Tell me if this works. And before asking any questions in this thread, use the DAMN INTERNET; Google or Bing or Yahoo, whatever floats your boat

If you are unsure of any step, and Google does not help, ask it in this thread and wait for my reply

Can we enable Mediatek Clear Motion feature in Moto M XT1663 ? Please kindly help me

If someone has been able to root the device successfully, do share with me the system and boot backup made in twrp. I will try bringing up a ROM.
For unlocking just enable it in developers and then
fastboot oem unlock

The wrong way to go.
Follow these steps:
In Windows command prompt write adb reboot bootloader. The device will reboot into fastboot.
The following command - fastboot oem unlock. You will be prompted on the phone screen, volume up to confirm, down to refuse. Who decided to change his mind
I waited a few seconds and at the command prompt, I got the answer - OK.
Disconnect the cable from the phone and hold the power button reboot the phone and put aside. He will restart another 2 times, will go to the drain recovery and erase all data from your phone. Therefore, I recommend to make a backup.
You just have to wait to boot the phone. approximately 5-7 minutes.
The bootloader is unlocked.

That's just the point, that you give the wrong information.
You give a link to the unlocking of MOTO devices on the Qualcomm processor, and that method is not suitable for MTK.
I also laid out 100% working instructions.
problem
bro i am unlocking the bootloader it boots to bootloader then it asks for yes to unlocking the bootloader in phone it says volume up to yes or volume down to NO i press volume but it automatically cancelled what to do man
I installed Android O DP2 update via OTA yesterday. The phone updated, rebooted to the new build and restarted abruptly and since then has been stuck in a boot loop. The Google logo shows up, goes to the android animation step and then Google logo appears again.
I don't have bootloader unlocked, don't have TWRP and have done OTA updates. I am able to get into the stock recovery mode.
How do I fix this, i.e. make it work in any way without erasing the user data? I don't mind extreme steps (without erasing user data) because I was planning to reflash 7 with unlocking & rooting today.
Try to wipe cache from recovery - in recovery hold volume-down and select "Wipe cache partition". Should do the trick
I tried, didn't work. Had to factory reset in the end. Also opted out of beta
I just read that some people that took the update from certain builds had boot loops due to the update only replacing part of the OS but leaving the 7.x.x system in place causing it to boot loop. I think it was like on android authority or something like that.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA-Developers Legacy app

To flash a system image:
Download the latest system image for your Nexus 6p, then unzip it to a safe directory.
https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/angler-n2g47o-factory-dc258043.zip
or Download any of your choice from here
https://developers.google.com/android/images
Connect your device to your computer over USB.
Start the device in fastboot mode with one of the following methods:
adb tool
http://developer.android.com/tools/help/adb.html
Using a key combo: Turn the device off, then turn it on and immediately hold down the relevant key combination for your device.
POWER BUTTON + VOLUME DOWN BUTTON

If necessary, unlock the device's bootloader using one of the following methods:
Code:
fastboot flashing unlock
If you are updating an older device, run this command:
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
The target device will show you a confirmation screen. (This erases all data on the target device.)
Open a terminal and navigate to the unzipped system image directory or Open a command prompt from within your System image folder (navigate to where you have flash-all.bat located on your PC, shift + right click anywhere within that folder, select open command prompt here
Execute the flash-all script.
Code:
fastboot flash-all.bat
This script installs the necessary bootloader, baseband firmware(s), and operating system.
Once the script finishes, your device reboots. You should now lock the bootloader for security:
Start the device in fastboot mode again, as described above.
Execute:
Code:
fastboot flashing lock
or, for older devices, run:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
Locking bootloader will wipe the data on some devices. After locking the bootloader, if you want to flash the device again, you must run fastboot oem unlock again, which will wipe the data.

To unlock you first need to have ticked the allow OEM unlock from developer menu within the OS. It won't work otherwise.

Any help would be much appreciated.

If you get a bootloop when selecting recovery, try rebooting to recovery with fastboot
Code:
fastboot reboot recovery
if that doesn't work, then i think your device is bricked.

If your touch screen isn't working, it might be related to the Android O Beta you flashed. Can you boot the phone up? If you have an OTG cable, connect a mouse to your phone. Turn on OEM unlocking in developer options. Do a factory reset.
i have the same problem with this, and i cannot unlock it too, is there anyway to unlock this phone?

last night i my phone inside my freezer hehehe and this morning i tried to turn it on, and it pass the google logo boot normally but it only lasted for a few minute and then turn off and bootloop again. so i guess my 6p has a hardware faulty
I tried with different drivers etc. but its just don't work, i downloaded TOOL ALL IN ONE, but this said that device was found but not said what or which device, only when phone is normally started i see it on the list of "adb devices" and in TOOL ALL IN ONE. Please help thanks in advance =)
Fastboot is an entirely different mode from adb, and as such it requires a different tool. In the console there is a command "fastboot", which is what you need to use to interact with the phone in fastboot mode. You can boot into fastboot mode from power off with the USB to computer plugged in by holding Volume Down, or it might be possible with TOOL ALL IN ONE, I haven't used it much.
Some basic commands:
fastboot flash unlock path/to/unlock.bin # This will flash the unlock bin
fastboot getvar unlocked # This will check if the device is unlocked
fastboot reboot # This will reboot the phone into normal mode, since powering off by holding the power button is a pain
To flash TWRP, there's a more advanced process with some specific requirements, but I'd be happy to share those if wanted.

First of all, which version of G6 do you have? The US997 one, or the H870?

H870
For H870 I'm not entirely sure, but I know that for the US997 you have to do a special procedure to make it permanent. Make sure you back up everything first, too.
With the phone in fastboot mode and a computer connected with fastboot installed and the twrp zip downloaded as "twrp.zip" (or whatever you want):
Make sure the bootloader is unlocked: fastboot getvar unlocked (should return "yes" or "true").
Flash the recovery: fastboot flash recovery twrp.zip (replace twrp.zip with the relative or absolute filepath/name).
Unplug the phone from the computer and reboot into recovery by holding Power and Volume Down. When the logo appears, lift your finger off the power button briefly and then continue pressing.
When you get to the factory reset menu hit yes twice, then the phone should boot into twrp (it may flash the LG logo, I've had different behavior on different phones. You won't need to hold the Power-Volume Down combo any more).
In twrp, swipe to allow modification, then in the Wipe menu select Format Data (and enter yes). This will wipe the phone, so make sure everything was backed up beforehand.
From the main menu go to the Reboot menu and select Recovery.
Here it might vary from the US997. Below are suggestions which I think are needed to have it work.
Download the no-verity-opt-encrypt zip, and connect the phone to the computer.
Once it's rebooted into recovery mode: adb push path/to/no-verity.zip /sdcard/
Then from the install menu in twrp install the zip.
Reboot into System from the reboot menu on the homescreen of twrp.
That should do it all.

Can you use fastboot (volume down+power)? If you don't have Android SDK, then install Minimal ADB and Fastboot, open cmd in that directory and type "fastboot device" (or "fastboot devices"?) while phone is connected via USB in fastboot mode. If it displays your phone's serial number, then you can use fastboot. If it doesn't show you anything, then I think wiping your phone in recovery or performing a clean flash through Mi Flash is the only way. However, if you can use fastboot, then the next step would be booting into TWRP... but we'll get to that once you confirm if it's working or not.

Hi,
i have checked by typing command---fastboot reboot and my phone reboots and hangs at android one screen so that means i can use fastboot but strangely didnt see in fastboot devices but i found output for fastboot oem device-info where device unlocked shows false and other status.
If this is enough for using fastboot to boot into TWRP?

Actually bad news is that to boot into TWRP you need to unlock your bootloader first (fastboot oem unlock), but to do that I think you need to have enabled "OEM unlocking" in developer settings (though strangely I am unlocked, but for me this option is disabled). Try unlocking anyway. If it doesn't work, then I would follow this guide to clean flash official firmware with Mi Flash Tool. Be warned, you will lose all your data if you manage to unlock your device.

Hi,
Is that mean i will still loose all data even if i unlock bootloader?
And i am unable to unlock bootloader by command. So only option i have now to do factoryreset/wipe data?
So after factory reset again i need to flash the ROM ? Because if again i need to flash ROM, i understand the prerequisite is Bootloader unlock which will create issue again.
Please suggest.

No, if you wipe your phone through recovery you won't need to flash anything. It just deletes all your stuff without touching the system.

Guys pls help me i got stuck on boot logo i want to flash stock rom pls help me
I'm in the same boat. Unable to access developer options as phone won't boot and its stuck at the android one logo.
Fastboot oem unlock gives error Flashing Unlock is not allowed.
Is there anyway around this?
I'm still stuck with my Mi A2. I didn't enable OEM unlock or USB debugging and now i'm stuck on android one logo with only option is to boot into fast-boot mode. All commands and tools i try I get error stating unlock is not allowed in Lock State.
I bit the bullet and ordered an EDL cable so we'll see if i get anywhere with that. I've read that newer Xiaomi devices wont work with EDL cable and only option is to use the test point method....not sure how accurate that is but guess i'll find out whenever the cable gets here.

You can try fastboot oem edl
To put the phone in EDL mode without specific cable
However why not wipe data from the recovery?
Just use fastboot reboot recovery

If you see a triangle, you are in recovery mode
You need to press a button combination to see options, Search on Google for that
My Mi 9T is stuck in "this device is destoryed" mode and I cannot access recovery
My bootlooader is locked and recovery is unaccessible. Please help me to unlock my phone if I can.

Ok thanks I will send it in to a shop where someone can do that
Connect phone to pc, start adb on pc...put phone in fastboot mode ( press volume - and power ) , type in adb
fastboot continue
After command, phone will reboot and boot system.
After that , you add mi acc and start unlock process.
If you reboot phone, you need to do this step again.
When you unlock bootloader, flash official rom or xiaomi.eu...
You could flash official xiaomi fastboot rom with Miflash tool: this flash recovery and MIUI also with BL locked.
Then you'll use miunlock tool to unlock bootloader
GGelmi
did your problem solved?
