SM-P580 (gtanotexlwifi) - no sound - Samsung Galaxy Tab A series Questions & Answers

Hello,
I really like my SM-P580, but for an unknown reason, I don't have sound any more, at all, and that's a very annoying problem.
I tried many things I found from googling, but none work :
to check in every parameters if I'm just a dummy who just switched off the sound
to plug headphone in and out (but no icon appearing...)
to switch off Bluetooth (in case of forgotten Bluetooth headphone)
just a reboot (stop / start)
factory reset
holding vol. + and - buttons in the same time while rebooting (stop / start)
whipping the caches
Last try : I installed LineageOS 18.1 for SM-P580 (gtanotexlwifi) by @TALUAtXDA
Actually, that made my tab fast again, so thank you for this.
But... still no sound.
In the options, I found out that headphone icon wasn't shown when plugging in, so I enabled it.
Then I plugged my headphone in... and nothing happened...
Also, since I have that problem, I noticed that :
I can't watch any video too : it's lagging so much, like searching to connect the sound module.
when I (re)boot, I have a loop alternating between blank screen and the Tab A logo
So, for me, it looks like it's the sound system which is physically unavailable to the software, like a bad version of the driver making it hanging.
Did anybody had this kind of problem and solved it ? (and, of course, can tell me how to solve it )
Thanks.

No more sound ?

Hi dudes,
My problem seems similar to Obstler's issue in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=35378&highlight=sound+problem
The problem: I can no longer hear any sound no matter what I do:
- clicking progs used to generate sounds. But no more...
- playing sound files just gives me silence
- a phone call generates a vibration as usual, but no more sound
- and when I pick up, I cannot hear the caller's voice
I tried:
- switching on/off bluetooth and speakerhone
- fiddling around with sound settings
- ending all active programs
Nothing seems to help.
My QTEK 9100 is one month old, has EXTrom 1.6.7.101 and is pretty much default (except for one lousy mahjongg game, but this one isn't the cause as it's been on for 2 weeks now.)
What I haven't tried yet; a soft reset. (I lack the doc here at the office but I think I need to do an ActiveSync at home first before resetting as I might lose some data right?)
Anyone had this? Anyone know what to do?
I'm quite new to PDA so I admit I wouldn't even know how to upgrade the bloody thing.
Had the same problem..
Try using your headphone plug, and plug it in several times(not to rough)
Sometimes the connection stays stuck in headphone....
It worked for me!!

Strange... I never used that headphone. up to now.
Will try at home tonight. Thanks!
Found it! Switched on bluetooth.
Clicked the "connect" button on my Jabra headset. Et voila!

No sound at all

Hello!!!
I have a big problem with my omnia 7
From one moment to the other I have no sound: no ring tone, no alarm...
All the rest works ok.
I allready tryed severall roms stock and cooked and the problem remains.
Any sugestion?
Anyone have the stock rom for swiss orange?
Thanks
I am having the sma problem with my omnia 7. All of a sudden I lost the ring, message, alarm sounds. Other than that the phone is working normally. And also if I plug in a headset, i can hear the sound fine.
When I searched the internet some of the options for this problem are:
1. Headphone slot could be stuck somehow and so the phone thinks there is a headphone attached. Solution is to try to plug in and out a headphone jack in to the slot several times to try to loosen the slot. Didnt work for me.
2. I read in one post that a hard reset solved the problem. Didnt tried it yet, I dont want to setup the phone from the scratch. That will be my last option.
3. Somewhere I read about people going in to the diagnostic mode and adjust some audio properties like audio gain, speaker output vs. I am not sure if that will solve the problem.
4. Some suggest to send the phone to samsung for a repair. That is not an option for me, as omnia 7 is not officially sold in my country (Turkey) so there is no support for it.
I am still searching the internet for a solution, and will appreciate if anyone can up with one.
Thanks
Problem solved
I found a solution for this problem and posted it in another similar post. I am writing the same information here.
I was playing with some diagnostic codes from a website I found on the internet, I noticed there is a "Melody Test\Test External and Internal Speaker" which you can access by typing *#0289# while inside the diagnostic mode. While inside this melody test application I pressed the option 1. Speaker [L-R] ON and option 2. Receiver ON. I dont know which option did it but suddenly a ring tone started coming from the speaker.
I closed the diagnostic app and return to the main menu and now my ringtones, game sounds start working. Hopefully this will be a real solution not a temporary one.
Note:if it not listed in the app list, to get in to the diagnostic mode press ##634# from the phone pad.
Also note: I tried to post the link of the page which contains all the diagnostic codes of omnia but the xda forum would not allow me to post a link outside because I am a new user. The page i found was on wp7forum website
Thank you. Im gonna try.
Well...I tried your sugestions and only the 3rd worked. (after typing *#0289#, 2. Receiver ON)
But I have sound just until a new resart, then sound is gonne!!!
and with you?
You are right, after the restart the sound is gone for me too.
And also as "mrtnz" in an other similar thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1546374) mentioned, probably this solution does not exactly activate the speaker on the back but re-routes all music and such to the front speaker ("ear piece")
I though this might be the solution, but apparently not.

Need help .... After i have discharged my Omnia 7 , All Sounds are gone , my mic is not working too !!!!
Any hint what it could be ?
Speaker fine - but no sound ?
Likewise ; my Omnia 7 does not give out a ring tone/sound.
I took it in to get a new speaker ; but when fitted, problem remains.
I can hear sound with earphones - but nothing externally -
I was told if I download an update ; it may fix the problem ?
The only theory the shop could give was that I had began an update when the battery was about flat ;
and somehow this may deactivate the external speaker/sound.
Thanks for the suggestion 'junior' - will try that ; however it seems apparently that was not a permanent fix.
As I am basically tecnicall challenged/OLD .... any easy/detailed instruction on how to get the ring-tones/sound back/on
would be appreciated.
Some improvement!

Following previous info ; I used the hash hash 634 hash code to access Diagnostic panel ;
I then tried star hash 0673 hash ; and got the mentioned sound L/R ON page -
By clicking/holding ON I have now got some sound comming through ;
Its not loud, although I have volume up full/30 - and dont know how long it will last ;
But at least proves its an software type fault rather than anything wrong with the actual speakers.

[Q] Sound problem after warming

Hi to all guys!
I have an LG-E900...and some time ago i get the lg logo problem (stuck on it).
I warmed the Mother Board (the one that include sim/wifi/fm)...i solved that problem but now the speaker dosn't work.
I'll explain it better...
Is like there is always the jack put in the phone, infact if i put in an headset i can hear all.
If I get a call is all mute until I put the loudspeacker mode it's all ok, the phone switch the audio and the microphone&speaker works normally.
1) I've tried to warm again that mb but no result.
2) I've tried to unsolder the jack but same result. (I've soldered it again)
3) I've search on the motherboard something wrong but it seems all ok....=(
So now i'm asking to you all what should i do to solve this problem...
I was thinking...There is no way to modify the phone registry through the MFG for switch definitely the audio on the speaker (or for disable definetly the audio-jack, losing this feature) ?
P.s.
If i go to MFG-> Engineer menu -> Device test -> microphone test and try the microphone, and after that I'll go to try the sound test, the speaker turn on and work until i receive a call or put the phone in stand by.
So i think there is something OR on the O.S. or some faulty fuse....
Anyway some help? Any solution or try will be appreciete =)
Thanks in advance for the answers and greetings from sicily!

Sound output disabled while sleeping (S7 Edge G935F)

Hello gals and guys, you are my last hope.
I have a Galyxy S7 Edge G935F bought in Germany with no sim lock, i got it with G935FXXU1APAW, updated to G395FXXU1APC8. Yesterday i rooted it with CF-Auto-Root-hero2lte-hero2ltexx-smg935f based on XXU1APBF. I still have stock recovery.
The Problem:
Sometimes, while sleeping, the phone disables all sound.
This happens mostly while recharging, but it happened also while simply sleeping and not recharging. It is not reliably reproducable, sometimes the phone works for 2 or 3 days without the error occurring. Which makes the error very hard to find of course.
Sound off means: No media output is working (games, video, music), notifications are not sounding only vibrate, the phone doesn't ring when someone calls, just vibrates. No calls and notifications means, this is very severe.
When i plug in earphones or headphones, there is also no sound on the headphones. Putting in and pulling out the headphones does not reactivate the sound, so it seems not to be a problem with the headphone jack. The jack is very loose, though, doesnt hold the headphones strongly; but thats another problem.
The sound can be reactivated by the following:
- rebooting
- calling someone (i used to call my provider) or getting called (the first call gets lost, but when i get a second call, it works again)
- i installed an app called SoundAbout, which lets me route the sound to different outputs. I must first route media output to "earpiece" (the small loudspeaker you hold on your ear during calls) and then route the media back to "Speaker". Only this combination reactivates the sound again. Just activating "Speaker" or any other combination like for example first "Wired Phones" and then "Speaker" does not work. It must be "earpiece" and then "Speaker".
What i tried, without success:
- deleted all bluetooth devices
- disabled bluetooth
- enabled "prevent USB audio routing" in dev options
- uninstalled all kinds of apps having to do with sound or lockscreen
- played with all kinds of settings having to do with sound or lockscreen
I searched everywhere. A call to Samsung was not very helpful either. I might have to try a factory reset after all, but even if its good at factory, i still won't know the culprit.
But since the problem can be solved via software, i suspect it is software related or is at least diagnoseable via software.
Of course, it would be insanely awesome when someone could just present me the solution, but i would do all the debugging myself, if i only could.
I am a developer myself, but only on windows. My experiences on linux don't go much further than doing an "ls -la" on commandline and i am a total noob on android. I will not be afraid of using a terminal or adb, as long as i am guided a bit.
I hope, somebody can point me out how to diagnose and this thing.
Can one diagnose the current state of audio routing ? Can i manipulate it via commandline ? Are there other relevant components which i need to query ?
Could i write a script that pulls those queries every minute or so ?
And finally, if the wrong settings are found, are there log files which can point out who messed with those settings. Which apps would you recommend for those actions ?
Thanks to everyone in advance ...
Correction
just getting called doesn't fix anything. Only when i accept the call it gets fixed and then the next call rings again, of course. So this means, while the bug is active, i miss all calls.

Help with a couple of things

Mainly all Viper4Android issues from what I can tell.
These are probably linked to one solution, but being able to fix these problems will be greatly appreciated.
1. As I turn on my phone and continue to plug in my headphones, the phone acts as if there are no headphones plugged, which in then returns me restarting the phone and SOMETIMES it will come up with the headset icon in the statusbar which normally means it is going to work.
2. As in the previous problem I said 'normally means it is going to work' SOMETIMES no sound plays at all from anything, not from speakers not from headphones.
3. Bluetooth. When I turn on and use a Bluetooth speaker, I hear a slight pop from the speaker as it connects and nothing happens then when proceeding to turn off Bluetooth knowing it's not going to work, no audio happens at all leading to me rebooting the phone.
4. And most of all the most annoying thing in somewhat having a working daily driver, whenever in my pocket or FACE UP in a DARK ROOM, the phone will just switch off. Nothing else happens I can't bring it back at all, I just have to hard reset (hold the power button for 20 seconds until it turns back on)
5. (Edit) Also half the time my microphone doesn't work. Leading to me needing to restart my phone.
My Phone:
OnePlus 3t
OOS Beta 10 (7.1.1)
Magisk (13.3)
Viper4Android
"Allow Mediaserver/Audioserver
Emoji One
OOS call recording enabler
ATM I have the Xposed framework because it is pretty stable, but these problems we're here before Xposed framework, so that isn't the issue
Anyone being able to help with these problems will be greatly appreciated
If you need any logcats or whatever just let me know how to do them, and I'll do it for you.
Thank you so much! ~Ryan
