Battery drain when turned off. - Xperia Z3 General

I have an old Z3 as an emergency phone, and I've noticed that the battery drains when the phone is powered down. I've noticed this since the phone was new.
This happens on every Rom including stock.
There are no problems with battery time or drain when the phone is on and in use or standby.
So does anyone know the cause of this and if there is a fix? As is makes it useless as an emergency phone unless I keep it plugged in all the time.

Noticed something strange with battery level

Hi
I have noticed something strange happening with my phone. I have started charging it every night now so that it will be fully charged the next day.
When it is fully charged, I turn it off completely to save the battery, and to stop noisy email alerts. In the morning I turn the phone back on and it says 73% battery level, despite being turned off overnight, so nothing should be draining the battery.
If I leave the phone on Standby overnight the battery level is always 90%+ the next morning.
What the hell is going on? Does anyone else notice this quirk?
You can try another battery and oberve if the problem would still occur..
It could have something to do with the difference in temperature? In the morning it's coooled off and maybe that does something with the measurement?
Did you put ur fone into flight mode.

Huh, I've never heard of that before, but then I never turn mine off. When you say "turn it off" I am assuming it is when you hold down the off button for a few seconds and answer yes to "really" turn it off. I think its very strange that it uses more power off than in standby. Maybe you have come across a nasty hardware bug. Keep us posted.

Yes I do mean holding down until it tells you data may be lost are you sure.
And it is still doing it. If I fully charge my phone at night and then leave it on standby the next morning the battery gauge will say something like 96%.
If I turn it off, it is always under 80% the next morning, this makes no sense. I leave the phone in standby now with the volume off, and the backlight and power set to switch off.
I keep it in a cradle now, this is a stock photo, not my phone in the cradle.
Charge your battery to FULL, then take it out of the phone when going to sleep, when you WAKE up, put the battery in, if it's at 100% or 99% then it's your PHONE. If it's at 96% like you said before then it's your BATTERY.
Memory card draining power
This was a ROM bug on i-mate JAMin on the first ROM versions that was available. A memory card inserted will drain power from the device. What brand do you have and do you have a memory card inserted ?

[Q] Severe Battery Drain

So, my wife has a STOCK MyTouch 4g (2.3.4) that has worked well for a long time. She is a VERY light user, but, when she needs it, she NEEDS it
Recently, every time she has pulled it out of her purse, the battery has been dead. I have tried changing batteries, a new one, and one from my personal backup MyTouch 4g (also 2.3.4). Regardless of the battery and even with the phone turned OFF, the battery will go dead in a couple of hours. How can the battery drain when the phone is off?
What am I missing?
I did a factory reset on the phone and set it back up again. This didn't seem to help. I checked the features using the battery (settings -> about phone -> battery -> battery use) and it appears that the Cell Standby is still running even with the phone turned off.
Any thoughts?
Thank you!
Follow up
As a follow up:
1) I took a fully charged and known good battery (from my phone where it works perfectly well) and left it OUT of the problem phone over night;
2) the problem phone was without any battery at all overnight, so, it was OFF
3) I then checked the battery in my phone and it was still at 100%
4) I then put this battery into the problem phone and did NOT turn the phone on.
5) 10 hours later, I tried to turn on the problem phone. It would NOT turn on.
6) I pulled the battery and checked it. It was DEAD.
So, even when turned OFF, the problem phone is causing a drain on the battery.
Where should I start looking? Any ideas? Bad/damaged firmware? Should I root and flash this phone?
TIA

You could root and flash a new rom. But from the looks of it i think its a hardware issue. Maybe charging system issue.
Because a short circuit in the charging system or battery connectors could yield such a problem
Is your mytouch 4g made in taiwan?

Battery discharging while phone is switched "off"!

Hi guys,
I have some trouble with very differing battery discharge behavior, because of unknown reasons.
For example today: in the afternoon, the phone was lying on my desk, in Standby (you know, black screen, but switched on). After a while I grabbed it and noticed that it was quite warm. And indeed, the battery had lost way more than normal during a short period of time. I shut it down completely to save some capacity for the evening.
I turned it on 45 minutes later only to see that it had lost a significant amount of capacity while shut down/turned off!!
Sooo:
1. Has anybody experienced something similar?
2. Is there an explanation apart from a very crappy battery (but usually, it does not seem to be one) or a spy software running?
Regards,
Puni

Phone shutting down randomly

Hi everone. I have the Samsung Galaxy S5 (Octa core version). Recently, i noticed that the battery had a strange behavior, so i planned to replaced when i finish my exams. During that time, the phone started to shut down randomly, so i bought a new battery thinking that would resolve all the problems, but it won't. The phone keeps shutting down alone, it happends when the battery percentage is below 60% and for turn on again i have to connect the phone charger or remove the battery and put it in again. Some times, the baterry percentage changes -/+ 15%, even from 40% to 3%. Oddly, sometimes the phone just get a black screen when i using it or the screen suffers some kind of distortion and shuts down.
Already did a factory reset and did some test on safe mode, but no luck. Curiously, when the phone is charging, there are no problems of any type.
Any clue of what could be?

Battery drains fast and is always warm even after a battery change

[TL;DR]
Phone battery suddenly drains faster than usual, drains to 0% overnight. Problem still persist even after April update and after battery change. Can't find any solutions. Help me.
Hey, so about a week ago something very strange happened to my Mi A1 and got worse overtime. So what happened was my battery went from 80+% to 0% overnight. I woke up confused and just recharged it and didn't think too much. After a full charge, I noticed the battery drains abit more than usual and had to plug it in constantly. Before going to bed I charged my phone to 100% to see if it would drain to 0% again. It did. As time passes the problem gets worst. The phone started getting warm when charging (around 40+°C up to 50°C) then after a while the phone runs warm even when not charging (never goes below 40°C). My phone always used to run at about 30-35°C even when charging. I changed the battery myself because there was no warranty on it but it didn't fix the problem. However it did help abit. The battery drains ever so slightly slower now but still drains to 0% overnight. It still runs warm but now it does go below 40°C (rarely). Before and after the battery change, the discharging rate is about 700mA and sometimes reaches 1000+mA (used an app called Ampere, not too sure how accurate it is). The phone was also warmer than usual when charging even when the phone was off (before and after the battery change). I tried factory resetting to see if that does anything but had no luck. I also tried using a Wakelock detector app to see if there was an app excessively triggering a wakelock but all seemed normal. I even tried downloading a "battery calibration app" which obviously didn't work. So I feel like it's a hardware problem.
Now here's what I did and did not do to the phone before the problem happened. What I did was I do charge the phone quite alot most of the time. What I mean by that is when it hits about 30% I'll plug it in but I never leave it plugged in after a full charge or charge it overnight and I seldom let the battery drain to below 10%. Even so, the phone never got warm like how it is now. That's about all I did to it. Now what I didn't do was, I never tried to install custom ROMs or root/modify my phone in anyway except for the post about how to enable 4G+ which didn't work for me.. My phone is completely stock. I also didn't install any new apps from the playstore or from any 3rd party sites nor were there any updates for any apps installed in my phone. I've had the same apps installed for a couple of months before this happened. I also haven't dropped my phone for a couple of months. I only dropped it less than 5 times from short heights and I have a very rugged case on. I also didn't use any 3rd party chargers. I'm still using the charging brick and cable that came with the phone. I have tried using other chargers that are 2A but no luck. So basically I didn't do anything out of the ordinary prior to this problem.
Just some extra information
1. The hottest part of the phone is at the top right corner of the back. I assume the CPU is there (?).
2. It happened before the April update. It was the same before and after the April update.
3. Phone is running on Android Pie if that wasn't clear
4. The phone is only 10 months old
5. My phone is the Global ROM version
6. Performance wise, its still responsive and snappy. Doesn't lag or freeze or anything.
6. I always have mobile data on and use it as hotspot for my laptop at uni. I have been using it like that for the past 9 months. However the problem happened when I was at home during sem break so I was mostly connected to Wi-Fi.
Sorry for such a long post. I hope somewhere out there, there is someone who can help me or other people that have a similar problem so we can fix it.
Thanks.
In the upper right corner, should be the modem area.
Try holding the phone on airplane mode during the night and monitor drain.
Also, try changing the SIM slot and do an APN reset. If this fails too, try changing your SIM card or if u can, try another operator SIM.
If you changed any value with QXDM PRO , try and put back the default values.
Good luck
