Flash a custom recovery like CWM and try with that.
If it still doesn't work then format your cache partition using CWM, that should fix it.

Did you try to flash an official stock rom for DBT (MDM) through pc odin ?After flashing go to stock recovery, first do factory reset and then wipe cache.

If after wiping cache, your phone reboots, then its "normal".Same happens with my s4 and my nexus 4.
In order to change CSC, in now days you must be root.Sorry for misunderstanding, but your phone is under BTU or DBT?
If you are rooted try the application https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.manniakk.cscselector&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5tYW5uaWFray5jc2NzZWxlY3RvciJd
,tick the box (root enabling) and check your current CSC status (you can check it through stock recovery as well)

About the CSC i know this part need to be root for use CSC select then i can change the CSC and need to make a wipe factory/data of it
The problem is only even i install custom recovery for wipe the cache partition => he stuck.

Hello, i have got a problem with the stock recovery of the S4 i-9505 the Wipe Cache Partition dont work, always when he reboot..
Hi,
I think I have the same problem with the same ROM XXUAMDM (DBT). When I try to wipe the Cache Partition the phone shows for a while the android logo and then reboots. I had a Galaxy S3 before and after pressing the start button to wipe the cache it just showed the messages:
-- Wiping Cache
Formatting /Cache...
Cache Wipe Complete.
I personally didn't even tried to flash another ROM because I wasn't sure I could recover from a Soft Brick. I would be very interested in finding a solution. I ask if flashing a PIT file could help?

Hello,
Yeah, i got this problem just after to started to flash and root or reset counter at 0 with triangle away.
The problem can't be resolved for now i think so... i searched since 3 full days, nothing.
Even if you flashing with a PIT file he can't help you the Stock recovery is broken a bit from the Wipe cache partition.
I'm not even sure all of this is due at the PIT file who make this bug to the recovery cache partition
The cache parition don't work well. So he still have always or sometimes the old code CSC- on the Recovery. By example the XXUAME2 BTU (U-K) then i flash on the STOCK MDM DBT (GERMANY), i noticed the CSC-code don't change he stay on CSC-BTU (U-K) when i starting the phone at select language by default.
I just found a trick to wipe the cache but he don't work always, with the CSC:
I have a STOCK XXUAME2 BTU (U-K) the after I tryed to flash the Stock rom MDM DBT (GERMANY), then I gone gone on Recovery Stock and Wipe Data/Factory x1 time, then i Wipe the Cache Partition x1 time and he reboot, before he try to reboot i remove the battery behind when the screen is dark. Then I restart in Recovery Stock one more time. I Wipe Cache Partition one more time and let it reboot the phone. After this the CSC-code may change into the new rom stock flashed. It don't work always but it may fix temporaly the problem of the CSC and the Wipe Cache Partition would work. (PS: he don't work each time... but it's the way i found, waiting for people found the problem)
Edit: this can't solve really the problem of the Wipe cache partition... someone have idea?

Try flashing PIT and stock firmware at the same time, using odin3.04. Don't use any pre-rooted or modified roms. Use the PURE stock roms which can be found at http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9505
After that, enter stock recovery and wipe data and cache. Phone will reboot. Flash stock rom again and see if there's anymore problems.
Edit: When and how did the cache partition problem happen? Sorry couldn't understand what happen in 1st post. Is the cache problem gone when u flash stock rom AND never perform any root process or CSC change?

There is no way to remove the apps without rooting your phone.
...
Is it behaving something like this?
(my first post so i can't link but paste this on the end of youtube)
watch?v=8Ypsm5xflVQ
Hard to find a video on someone wiping their cache partition on an s4 :silly:
Mine is behaving like the one above, and i was previosly on a pre rooted XXUBMEA but i now on stock firmware without root.
Behaving a bit diffrent if compared to the S3 who wiped the cache then you had to reboot i manualy.
Hey all, I'm new to android and new here. I succeeded in rooting my phone and added Twrp recovery. But whenever I try and do a backup in Twrp it fails saying: E:Unable to mount '/cache'
Not sure if it is acceptable, but if I don't select cache in the backup, it succeeds. I guess my worry is that this is a deeper underlying issue that will cause me problems later.
I thought about flashing everything back to stock and redoing it, but don't want to cause any more problems before I got some advice.
Any help or insight would be appreciated. Thanks.
Twrp version: OnePlus2 TTF TWRP by ydss.cn v2.8.7.0
Flashing cache may not work at all, given cache storage is so small. You can flash it without checking for cache, it doesn't make too much of a difference except that you won't get your cache. For general use, its not too big of a deal to have cache or not, as it will be recreated as you run your OS later on.
Custom TW ROM Lollipop Galaxy S5 SM-G900F: multiple high-impact issues
In last 24hrs I managed to get away from several hard issues, so, I thought it might be good idea to share and start separate thread, as I found none to cover all that in the same time. It all started with no baseband - No SIM card error. For the starters no separate ODIN baseband flash turned out to help. One thing leading to another and I managed to soft brick the device. Trying this and that, I was finally struck with: Encryption failed, unable to complete encryption, reset phone to factory settings.
ODIN: reflash Stock: no ROM from SamFirmware for my country and carrier managed to boot up device, although full flash was successful. Turning on 'Nand Erase All' and 'Phone Bootloader Update' haven't helped, either.
ODIN: reflash PIT: no PIT file flashing has solved the problem
TWRP Recovery: Data/factory reset: no go
TWRP Recovery: /data, /system, /cache: no go - but there was this message that /data cannot be mounted and no crypto data can be found.
TWRP Recovery: Flash CyanogenMod: Success! - it is great ROM indeed, but there is no good camera for AOSP, so let's move on.
TWRP Recovery: Flash Custom TW ROM: Struck with looped encryption failed error.
TWRP Recovery: Wipe > Advanced Wipe > Repair or Change File System: /data was somehow, somewhere formatted as f2fs - changed it to ext4. Flash TW ROM, wait couple of minutes: SUCCESS!. (TWRP 3.0.1.0)
Hey there
Hello, i have the same "encryption failed" error on my s5. It has been a paper weight for a month now.
It started a few days after i updated to lollypop. I have never tried to mod the phone in the slightest.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Hey peoples! So long story short, went from xXx's Oreo beta ROM, back to the 2nd leaked Oreo ROM. However, now when I go into TWRP I get "/sbin/postrecoveryboot.sh process ended with ERROR: 1", then after wiping cache/dalvik, I get a "Failed to mount '/system' (Structure needs cleaning)"... What even does that mean? I did a clean wipe coming from xXx's ROM (cache, dalvik, data, system), and am decrypted. I'm also being prompted to confirm I want to reboot, which I haven't had before.. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I have this problem too. Any solution?
I've made a couple of mistakes, so I decided to reinstall the original firmware to reset everything and have a fresh start:
I want Android 11 with Google apps. I'm following this:
When installing MindTheGapps-11.0.0-arm-20220217_095902 or BiTGApps-arm-11.0.0-R20_signed.zip I'm getting:
Could not mount /mnt/system! Aborting
Updater process ended with ERROR: 1
When installing open_gapps-arm-11.0 pico or nano I'm getting:
"Error 10: failed to set-up open gapps pre-bundled busybox"
When I want to repair System it says:
/sbin/e2fsck -fp /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-
Unable to repair System.
I am kind of stuck here, but I will try some more things.
I'm using:

I have followed your steps:
Select Wipe > Advanced Wipe
Select Dalvik / ART Cache, System, Data, Internal Storage, Cache and then Swipe to Wipe. [All your data into Internal Storage will be lost]
Go back and select Wipe > Format Data > type yes [All your data into Internal Storage will be lost]
Connect your device to PC while you are on TWRP and transfer into Internal Storage, the ROM, GApps etc. and the files you want to flash.
Flash ROM > GApps [Optional]
After that I still get "Error 10: failed to set-up open gapps pre-bundled busybox"

Use the latest official twrp, redownload mindthegapps arm and try again.
If you still getting error try to flash the PIT file and try again by clean install steps.

Use this recovery.
You can find the PIT file in my Collection, read the note how to flash it.
Then proceed with clean install steps.
If you still getting the issue with mount, go in twrp menu press Mount and select System and then flash.

Yes I tried twrp-3.6.1_9-0-jflte.img but then I get the no touch problem.
I did the PIT flash, but still have the "Error 10: failed to set-up open gapps pre-bundled busybox" after installing open_gapps-arm-11.0-pico-20220215
When I'm in Mount, I select System, but can't start the flash, no button.
Right now, I'm just gonna test all the other TWRP's from https://eu.dl.twrp.me/jflte/
No touch problem:

twrp-3.6.0_9-0-jflte.img
twrp-3.5.2_9-1-jflte.img

I am 100% stuck again. I even tried installing a Note 7 custom rom but then I got the no touch problem while installing.
I don't know what to do anymore...
I prefer to have Android 11 with open_gapps-arm-11.0-pico-20220215
Should I throw away my phone and buy a new one?
I just tried to install Miui 8 on the phone but I got the following error:
mount: failed to mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p21
mount: failed to mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p20
ERROR 7
Maybe this is caused cause I accidentally wiped Micro SD card earlier?
What can I do to fix my phone?

You tried to install ROMs from different device to your S4?
I don't know what you are doing but seems a mess.
I recommend you to flash PIT, Clean Install the latest Stock ROM/Firmware and latest Bootloader & Modem and then do Clean Install a Custom ROM.
You can find all the guides and latest links in my thread.

Reason I've tried that, because those are complete packages with GApps already in them. I used these:
OK, fresh start, I just did:
- Flashed PIT
- Clean installed stock ROM
- Installed Bootloader & Modem
- Installed TWRP
- Clean installed lineage-18.1-20220707-nightly-jfltexx-signed
- Installed open_gapps-arm-11.0-pico-20220215 then I got the error again:

If you wiped MicroSD then you can't fix it. You lost ur data there.
It may be also problem with SDcard or corrupted .zip.
Redownload MindTheGApps.zip
After wipes and format data move ur zips (rom and gapps) to Internal Storage instead of SDcard and try flashing from there.
