Hello, i found little tip to open apps in splitscreen mode bit quicker. Just open app, place 2 fingers on navigation bar (ie. On triangle and square button) and swipe it up
Nice found
I'm running an unrooted Amazon Fire HD8 tablet with nova launcher. Yesterday, I noticed that the navigation bar at the bottom of the tablet (with the back button, home button and recent tabs button) was not disappearing from the screen like it has previously done, with the buttons being constantly on. Previously, these soft keys would only appear when the bottom of the tablet was pressed.
I've performed soft resets and restored to factory settings, before using a backup to restore but had no luck hiding these buttons.
Can anyone help get these soft keys hidden, as they are permanently on screen!
Try this, maybe it will do.
Get into an ADB command prompt, and type, "adb shell settings put global policy_control immersive.navigation=*" (Remove the quotes)
This will enable permanent immersive mode with only navigation bar hiding. You will have to swipe up from bottom to access navigation bar.
Good Luck!
Will this also work with the fire hd 10.1 2017 model??

Click to collapse
You can try it. But I think not
Ok, i don't really want to mess anything up, so need to know for sure, its brand new, and wanted a sure way of doing this mod. Just curious, but Why do you think not?
TIA.
Hello,
Im on Android 8.0 and im looking for a way to get gestures on my phone and get rid of the function buttons on the bottom.
i installed an app called: All in one gestures and it works fine but i can't seem to get rid of the 3 buttons
edit: all in one gestures the lower left and lower right seems to be working 3/10 of the time so any suggestions for a app that works!
I used the following command: adb shell settings put global policy_control immersive.navigation=
but it only removes it from apps and not my home screen, and when i use the swipe from bottom >up gesture the menu comes back
Any tips on what i should do / use?
In the purpose of not using the physical buttons anymore in order to preserve them I was wondering if I could map some actions to shortcut icons.
The one's I'm interested in are One-handed mode and Multi window.
It has to be possible to launch them via a terminal emulator, right? but where to start?
Did somebody know whats the name of the (new) hardware dashboard app is?
In german i got a button bottom left on screen which opens up a 'Geräte dashboard' (why did they spell it german and english)
I want to delete that with adb shell, but whats the name of it?
When I disabled com.amazon.smartgenie, the navbar icon no longer opened the Device Dashboard. Said button vanished when I used adb shell settings put secure sysui_nav_bar (I moved the home, back and recent buttons to be more easily reached by my thumbs when in landscape orientation).
