So I used the latest version of the Fire Toolbox to convert my Fire HD8 to a true Android tablet. At the same time I installed the Nova launcher. Nova settings says it is not the default launcher, but if I go to Settings and Accessibility it says Nova **IS** the default launcher. Confused.
Admins if there s a better place to post this feel free to move it.

Does anyone know how I can hide unused apps in the app drawer on marshmallow like I can in lollipop?
Nova Launcher
Could change your home launcher to Nova Launcher from the Google Play Store.IT gives you the option to hide in the nova settings. Home launcher has way more customization than stock launcher. I prefer the pro version which gives me the option to use the gestures for certain apps. Click thanks if this helps!!
Is there a way to use shelf with nova launcher ? im trying to set shelf for some button shortcuts in settings but no luck its saying you have to use Oneplus Launcher as Default..
I have done some googling but didnt help.
I followed this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/hd8-hd10/general/successfully-changed-launcher-to-nova-t3744067
I used pm disable com.amazon.firelauncher to disable the fire launcher but it just lead to a black screen where I coudn't use home button. There was just time and "Try Alexa, remind me on Saturday to call Dad" Text. I could go to next screen by swiping left there was also some random text about a video. I can use settings but I cannot go to the home screen where all the apps are.
I had to enable fire launcher.
Did some googling and it said that we need to set NOVA as our default launcher. I checked the nova launcher and it said that it is not set as default launcher and "click here" to set up as the default launcher.
When I click it, it just goes to the settings.
Where in the settings can I make NOVA as my default launcher?
Sorry for my englando.
I just used launcher hijack.
It solved the problem
Nova Launcher
Plug your tablet into fire toolbox click on custom launcher click drop down select nova click install it will tell you already installed then it will disable fire launcher and you are all set
I am using the NOVA launcher with LauncherHijack . It works, but I have two questions.
Is my perception that this combo is slowing my Fire HD8 correct ? It seems more sluggish.
What is the safe way to go back to the default Fire launcher ? Can I just delete LauncherHijack and NOVA ?
Yeah, just uninstall both apps. I tried the same thing and agree. With FireOS launcher still running in the background, it causes slow downs. We need a Dev for this device so we can just get a custom ROM.
Hello XDA team,
First of all, Thank you for your support with Fire Toolbox.
I can customize my HD10 plus tablet with Fire Toolbox!!!
Today, I have downloaded FTB, and this version is V25.2.
And 'Google Services', 'Keyboard and Input', 'Lockscreen Management', and 'Manage Amazon Apps' was successful.
But I have faced some problem with Custom Launcher.
I have set 'Nova Launcher' in there, then I can found Nova Launcher app in my tablet.
When I executed this Nova Launcher app, this app showed me it was now set to default app.
So I tried to set this Nova Launcher app to Default.
But I could not find configuration menu in the 'Default apps' menu.
So, in the Nova Launcher app, if I pushed home button, my tablet back to Fire launcher.
Coud you check this problem?
my tablet build number is 0022247233412
Device model is Fire HD10 Plus.
FTB version is 25.2.
Thank you and Best Regards,
See the Fire Toolbox thread...newer update prevents replacing the launcher. I'm in the same boat.
Sounds like you might have FireOS 7.3.2.2.
In version 7.3.2.2 they made some things protected including the launcher which prevents it from being replaced.
No word on if there is a fix. I made some complaints to Amazon, and I'm waiting to see if someone finds a solution.
