I have been trying to learn how to do this on my own, however I have been unsuccessful at finding tutorials, so I have three questions for the experts here.
1) Has anyone been successful in rooting the Coolpad Legacy cp3705AS before? I have several things I would like to do with it that I need root for.
2) Dependent on answer #1, where can a girl find a good custom rom, or can someone partner with me so I can learn how to create one?
3) Here's the REAL needs... I found my Coolpad phone under a bridge, all busted up. I fixed it and it is an AWESOME (in my opinion) phone at least compared to the kind of crap that I can actually afford.... Anyway, I use a Wiko Ride phone on Assurance Wireless for my actual phone, and the coolpad is nothing more than a tablet for me, but I want to use it as my phone on Assurance Wireless. The phone is carrier unlocked and recognizes the SIM and Assurance Wireless networks, but Assurance Wireless is looking for an ESN that THEY sold rather than allowing a BYOP situation. I read that is it possible to overlay one phones radio information over the top of another and "trick" the new phone into using the identity of the old phone. First, would this work? and second, if so, does anyone know how?

..with the Niki..?
I'm thinking of buying a locked Niki.. And i've already read there's a way to sim unlock it using software and/or codes..
However, i'm also kinda charmed by the way the sim overlay products work.. No messing up your warranty, in the worst case scenario, only thing needed to make it work properly is to cut up your sim card.. And if you manage to f*ck even that up, the provider will happilly provide you with a new sim card in order to generate money from you..
If this is a first for you; I'm talking about Smart sim, currently dirt-cheap on DealExtreme.. See:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12167
When i check the compatibility list in a topic over there:
http://www.dealextreme.com/forums/Default.dx/sku.12167~threadid.144482
i see the HTC touch mentioned.. However, no touch dual/Nike/Niki.. Even the Diamond is mentioned.. So i'm wondering if anybody has a smartsim or comparable product and is able to verify it *works* with the Niki.. Can't actually think of a reason why it shouldn't work..
The i-smartsim has a very own topic right here on xda-devs regarding the Diamond.. But helas, no Niki variant of that as of yet.

So.. Any experiences whatsoever..?
So i was recently given an HTC surround to try my hands at, after years of working with blackberry and iphone, and im finding this to be just a tad confusing as far as the language is concerned. The surround is currently locked to ATT and i would like to be able to use my t-mobile with it, however when looking for "unlocking" or any similar term, all i see is mass use of the word unlock for several things that don't actually remove the sim/carrier lock.
I have looked at some of the threads about flashing roms, and it seems like this would take care of the unlock, but i am not able to find a clear "how-to" on flashing roms......
I have successfully unlocked the device for homebrew apps (using wp7chevron) however, that does not remove the sim lock (as im sure everyone else knew, lol). Any help or pointing me to a guide/page that would assisst me in doing this would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking forward to trying my hand at something new to tinker with...
you will need the IMEI code which you can get by going to the phone and dialing *#06#
then call ATT and tell them you want the unlock code, odds are they will have no clue as to what you are saying but keep talking to them and eventually they will get it and give you the code.
if they refuse you will have to pay some website to send you the code
I do not think there is any other way to unlock the surround right now.

Hello,
to all of you.
I want to know some things about Mobile Phone, I hope You understand this question and I'll get replies.actually, my friend has found a new Grand 2 Mobile phone still packed in box on road, I know it seems weird but "its true", and He tried to search the owner of the Phone but he got no clue, that is just a Grand 2 packed nothing else, no bill, no address, nothing, and he is little nervous that's why he doesn't want to inform about this to some P.Station (you know India Polise), so he decided to start using this device, but before that he wants to clear some things, he doesnt want to be in a some kind of mess, so please reply,
1.If we don't put sim card in Mobile, and keep the device off removing the battery, then Are Mobile Operator or Mobile Manufacture able to trace the Mobile or not?
2.Is it possible to change the IMEI number of the Mobile, If yes then Can you tell me How? or tell me the link on web?
3.Because Nothing is set up on phone till now, as I told this is packed, if we put sim card in Mobile is there any possibility by which the mobile can be traced?
4. If he only use this device as a media player, then what are the chances of something went wrong?
P.S : He found this device ten days ago, and he tried to search the person who bought this from the nearby sellers(actually he found it on very busy road), but found nothing.
Thank You.

There is a method to change the IMEI.
However, it is illegal in North America and many other countries.
I'm sorry I can't give you a link as this is illegal in the States, but keep looking around.
It's probably legal in India (a big country with the world's second biggest population ... who can trace you anyway?)
If you operate the device without a SIM card (airplane mode) or any form of Internet communication, no one is able to trace you, unless it is the CIA.
How to get to unlock menu once I get unlock code?
I am not in america so it seems uicc unlock is not an option because I cannot connect to Boost.
Thanks.

Can someone give me code or tell me where to find to unlock boost moblie stylo 2
The Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile versions of the LG Stylo 2 (LS775) are not only carrier-locked, they are CDMA-only phones because the GSM capability is disabled in the firmware. In order to enable international GSM roaming, you must flash replacement firmware. There are several outfits that offer to do that on Ebay, with prices ranging from $10.99 to $30. It's not a simple code entry - they have to connect to your PC and load new firmware to the phone via a USB debug connection. But it does work.

First off, thanks for the info - great post.
like everyone else here, I'm having a problem unlocking my Boost-Mobile Stylo 2 (LGLS775). I noticed they made it practically impossible to switch carriers, there is no way to unlock the phone even with a code. When I switched sim cards I wasn't prompted with an option to unlock. So I tried other methods (like using the dial codes to prompt action with 2945#*775#, 2945#*71001#, and 2945#*20001#) with absolutely no avail.
Then I read your post, and it all makes sense now. It's disabled in the firmware for anything user end to prompt a carrier switch.
This is just evil.... anyways I looked up some Ebay sellers and found one who actually tells you were to download EVERYTHING needed for the process of unlocking the phone (No Z3X or Octoplus box required), the only problem is that I have no idea what I am supposed to do with all these files.
Here is the link to the seller's product below
http //wwwebaycom/itm/Unlock-Service-LG-Stylo-2-LS775-From-Sprint-Boost-Mobile-Virgin-Mobile-/142305877764
And this is where the seller asked the buyer to download all of the files
https //drivegooglecom/file/d/0BxP_zvOImZfnR0ZrOERMWHpSZWc/view
(I made an account specifically for this, URL needs colons after https and dots after www / drive and before com)
I'm currently just trying to figure this whole thing out little by little but if anyone wants to help pitch in it would be greatly appreciated.

In my knowledge, LG from Boost Mobile network can't be unlocked. Most likely from Boost doesn't ask for unlock code.

Yes it can, I just ordered it to be unlocked over Ebay. Turns out I was wrong with my earlier post. You have to replace the firmware, but since there are no KDZ files in existence for the phone you have to use a Z3X or Octoplus box. If you order an unlock over the internet they will just remote view on your pc and connect your USB inputs to theirs with flexihub on run the process as if they were doing it on their own. It sounds really sketchy and it is, but it works. Average cost is around 10 -15 dollars, and it takes around 15-60 mins. If you really want you can just do this yourself but you need to buy a smartcard box.
Thank you but when i tried the network 2945*#775 it doesn t do nothing can you please tell me why?

Hi,
Have you unsimlock your phone with ebay seller?
Just purchased a Huawei Watch 3. I'd already read up on the single provider in France (my country of residence) that supplies an eSIM for this watch.
However, it's not quite straightforward. Am thinking my "issue" is to do with the installed OS (Harmony OS 2.0) or the "health app" on my phone. I'll explain:
Best value SIM package I have is from a local supermarket chain, much like e.g. using Tesco in UK as a phone provider. In my case it's Reglo Mobile. I happen to know (it's hardly secret) that since Reglo Mobile have no infrastructure or network of their own, they have some leasing arrangement with SFR, and simply brand their SIM packages accordingly. All of their voice, data and SMS goes via the SFR network.
SFR are the single provider recommended by Huawei. But their data and call packages are more than double the cost.
I currently have two eSIMs waiting for activation on my watch: one from Reglo Mobile, and one from SFR. The thing is that BOTH of these eSIM connections use the EXACT SAME carrier address and details - they are IDENTICAL - because, of course, both Reglo Mobile and SFR are the same thing under the skin.
Yet trying to proceed via the health app to "activate eSIM" just automatically opens a login page at SFR. For other reasons (entirely irrelevant here) I haven't been able to continue, but my question is this: surely it's now just something embedded in Harmony and/or the health app that is forcing me to log in via SFR? I have full account at Reglo Mobile, but am not given any option via the app or the watch... but were I able to, I know that I could activate this eSIM (my preference) because it is basically the same thing.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a workaround? Would I be mad to consider rooting a brand new watch? Could I brick it? Anything else I should consider (I may just return the watch and give up completely).
Hi,
I also own this watch, and I am also from France.
I found out after I bought it that ESIM is not compatible with my network (Orange/Sosh).
I was told it's only compatible with SFR but I found very little information, so I wasn't confident enough to move there and I gave up on ESIM.
I understand you want to hack it to make it work with another network?
It's a very nice watch but I am disappointed by the support/updates so far.
Regards,
Candas

I understand your frustration. To be fair to Huawei, they did put extensive documentation online, and in that documentation made clear that presently, the only provider that the watch works with is SFR. So I understood that part at least.
Where things got decidedly annoying were:
I went into local SFR and spoke with them. I returned with the watch. They were helpful, and aware of the watch, and I was able to purchase an eSIM account from them. Let's leave aside for a moment the HUGE extra costs this incurs.
I went home, ready to at least test out the eSIM capability, understanding that of course it would be on a new random number. I can deal with that later. First hurdle is... the store set the new eSIM number as the contact number, while mis-spelling my email address. So, in order to confirm my new account at SFR... there was no way to receive any confirmation!
I return to the store, they correct the issue. I wait a few hours and try again. Success! So now, expecting everything to be right, I open the watch, go to the "activate eSIM" bit and which then directs my health app to sign in at SFR. I do so, only to be met by a message telling me that since I don't have a physical SFR SIM in my phone, the eSIM won't work!!
Costs: my current provider, who I think I mentioned above, actually contracts their own packages via the SFR network and infrastructure (!!!) but doesn't qualify as a partner with Huawei?? Currently I pay 5,99 p/m for all calls and texts, plus 100Gb. SFR want 17,00 p/m for calls, text and 5Gb! To purchase what I have now via them would cost me seven times what I currently pay!
Well done Huawei. Thanks. Really useful device you've made.
To date it's not actually clear that the watch eSIM would even work, were I to transfer my number to SFR and be gouged on price (I won't). Further, it's not clear whether once it might work, the watch could make or receive calls outside of bluetooth range of my phone - which renders the entire idea a bit pointless.
Since the US banned Huawei, this watch isn't really "Android compatible" in any meaningful way. IIRC Harmony OS is Huawei's in house attempt to reproduce all the good stuff Google can do for us, but can't because of lawyers. Although I'm in France, and fortunately here they don't suck up to US like gods but tend to think independently, there's clearly no new agreements in place, so the watch doesn't really do much beyond notify me. It doesn't, as such, really run any Android apps.
I agree that the fitness and health monitoring side of it looks impressive. Thing is, I'm so pissed off with the watch that I've worn it once since purchase, and recently responded to Huawei's invitation to "complete a short survey" by telling them I'll probably just chuck their brand new watch in the bin, because it's basically useless if extremely impressive as technology.
