Hi everyone,
I bought a Mecool Now / KA2 Android TV box and I cannot install an APK outside of the Play Store. It puts me wrong every time.
I figured I was going to attempt a factory restore, but couldn't find the option in settings.
I tried to go through Android Recovery but there is no wipe data / factory reset option.
So, is there a solution? What is the adb command to do a factory restore?
Thank you.
Hey! I have been trying to factory reset mine as well, it keeps crashing I couldn't find anything under Android Recovery so I emailed the company & apparently they have to factory reset it remotely. You have to send them a picture of your MAC & Serial Number, here is the email if you want to get in touch with them.

When you go to Developer Options on the KA2 it literally doesn't even show a USB Debug it shows "Revoke USB debugging authorization" but nothing about enable USB Debugging. I have tried revoking USB debugging then rebooting device but nothing, I also turned off Dev options, then rebooted the device, went back to Build number 7 times, went back to dev options & nothing. I sent MECOOL an email about this back in OCT and they ask for my SERIAL NUMBER & MAC ADDRESS but NOTHING. I'm about to either send this back or call my bank. I googled KA2 MECOOL Model & there is a lot of unhappy customers. They ask you email them if you need a factory reset, that's ridiculous I shouldn't have to email them when it should already be in the settings.

Yes I had managed to enable USB debugging and send a few commands that worked but I didn't know the one to do a factory restore. Thank you.
I will contact Mecool, first, and I will see what they tell me. This is the first time that I see a device of its kind that does not have this possibility in the options.

Background
Back in the day when every computer connecting to the internet was using a modem and dial-up link, you could also use the modem to dial from your computer to any phone number using dialer.exe. This was great because you didn't have to leave your keyboard and could use your pc speakers and microphone to make a call. This made me wondering if it would be possible to use my mobile phone (in my case the Samsung Galaxy Note II) to act as a modem to make phone calls. I have looked over some forums and managed to get this working. Since it took me a while, I made this thread so other people can replicate.
Before we begin
These steps were successful using:
Samsung Galaxy Note II (Android version: 4.4.2) and Windows 7 (64-bit)
Steps
Connect phone to pc as a modem
Install phone as a modem in Windows
Make a phone call
Step 1: Connect phone to pc as a modem
Enable Developer Options menu
On your phone go to "Settings", "More", "About phone".
Locate "Build number" and tab it a few times. You will get a notification that the Developer Options menu is enabled.
Enable USB debugging
On your phone go to "Settings", "More", "Developer Options"
Locate and enable "USB-debugging"
Enable USB to act as a modem
On your phone go to Phone and dial *#7284# (including the asterisk and hash). The Phone Util service mode will appear.
Under "USB" select "MODEM" and press "SAVE and RESET". Your phone will now reset.
Connect your phone to your pc using an USB cable
If your phone isn't already connected to your pc, now is the time...
Step 2: Install phone as a modem in Windows
I have used this thread to enable the modem under Windows: [REF][XMM] Infineon FlashTool & Comneon 7 CDCs Driver by E:V:A. This might also be helpful to install the drivers for other phones.
Detecting hardware
When your device has reset and is connected to your pc Windows will detect the new hardware, but will probably not find any drivers. There will be 7 CDC's listed as new hardware and one Comneon USB device.
Download drivers
The drivers for the Comneon modem can be found here: DRIVERS___WMC_comneon_3.33.0.exe - 694.68 KB
Or for the brave the direct download link: http://fs1.d-h.st/download/00111/55i/DRIVERS___WMC_comneon_3.33.0.exe
Install drivers
Install the drivers using administrative privileges. After installation the modem should be found and installed correctly. The following devices should be listed in Device Manager
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Step 3: Make a phone call
Phone and modem
In Windows go to Control Panel and search for "modem". Click on "Phone and Modem". If you haven't set a location before, add one now.
Go to tab "Modems", your device's modem should be located here. Select it and click "Properties". Go to the tab "Diagnostics" and click "Query Modem" if you get a response (e.g. not a blank response) your device's modem is correctly installed. Close all windows.
Phone Dialer
Press Start, Run (or Windows key + R) and start dialer.exe, located in the system32 directory: %windir%\system32\dialer.exe.
In Phone Dialer go to the "Tools" menu and select "Connect using".
Under "Line" select the modem we just installed. Click "Line Properties" and set the "Port speed" to "115200" (this step is not really required).
Now we are ready to make a call. Type in any Phone Number and the Phone Dialer will start the call. The "Call Status" will pop-up. Do not press any of the buttons unless you want to hang up.
Tips & Tricks
You still have to use the phone's speaker and mic to actually communicate. To use the computer's speakers and microphone I use a bluetooth dongle to let the computer act as a bluetooth headset for my phone. Not every bluetooth dongle is capable of this feature, you need one with a headset profile (HSP). The Konig Micro Bluetooth USB 4.0 Dongle has this profile and I use it to turn my pc into a headset.
You can also make calls from Windows using Outlook. Go to "Contacts" and right click any contact and select "Call". You can also make a phone call to any number by selecting "Call" under "More" in the ribbon of "Contacts".
Using Hyper Terminal it is also possible to receive incoming phone calls. You can connect to the COM port that is used by the modem (the used COM port is located in the properties of the modem). When connected to the COM port you can answer a call by typing the command ATA followed by Enter.
Final words
Any comments are greatly appreciated, since this is my first ever post. Also if you have similar successful implementations, feel free to comment so I can add these to the list. Thank you for reading and special thanks to E:V:A for submitting his useful post on where to find the modem drivers.
Great job... but it would have been easier to use speaker phone mode on the phone
Use MyPhoneExplorer...
You can call, sms, install apps, access data, call logs any many more...
No need to do any setting, just keep USB Debugging On....
You can even connect mobile wireless also thru wifi...
Nice work OP!
Another easy way to do this is to install MightyText. But then you're entrusting all your data to a third party.
Nice trick but a difficult one.
Did you ever ask yourself the question ... "But Why?"
Preparation:
1. Make sure that your computer installed a driver
(Download link here )
2. Flash tool (SP flash tool recommended, download link here )
Please be careful and make sure that you have enough knowledge or we suggest that don't root your phone casualy.
1. Download the file from below link. you're going to save to somewhere you can remember it, for this tutorial, I'm going to use my desktop.
Dnowload link here
2. Unzip the file that you have downloaded just now.
3. Cope zipe file named "superSU_PRO_V2.49.zip" to your SD card and then turn off the phone.
4. Open flash tool, Click "scatter-loading" and choose the file named "p7000-recovery" which you have just saved in your computer.

12. Congratulations!!! You have finished the whole process, now enjoy.
You can also root without flashing recovery.
1) Download and install SuperSU from Play Store, don't run it yet.
2) Enable USB Debugging and install ADB drivers.
3) Download this ZIP http://www37.zippyshare.com/v/SaH4NxFw/file.html , unzip to a folder and open command prompt in it.
4) Issue the following commands:
Code:
adb kill-server
adb root
adb connect localhost:5037
adb shell setenforce 0

i had the same issues when i first tried flashing the device, some moderator in the eleforum stated that's normal for the phone to act like that, because it will just detect to flash for 1.5 sec and then jump into charging mode
do this steps and should work fine
1 - DO not connect the phone to the computer
2 - open the flash tool
3 - look for the scatter.txt file that you want to flash "either rom or recovery"
4 - click download on the top
5 - once the processes above have been done, connect the device and it will start the flashing process.
you are done.

choosed install zip from last folder and then move to the folder where it is ( vol + /- to scroll down, power to validate). I put it on download folder (on the phone memory), but of course you can put it anywhere you want !
Very smooth install, thx for the great tutorial

yeah same here when I press "Download" nothing happens (Windows 8.1 x32)
If I use one of these methods to root my P7000, enable Link2SD and then unroot it, can I retain the Link2SD features?
I want to be able to install/move apps onto the SD card but I don't really want or need a rooted phone in the long term.

Anyone here having issues on Windows 10 with ADB/Fastboot recognition?
I'm using the Android SDK Toolkit from the Google website, and I have both ADB and Fastboot installed. ADB recognizes the device, and started a shell on the device, everything is ok.
I reboot the device into fastboot mode, plug it into the same USB port where ADB was working, and nothing happens. It says "connect the usb cable". Frustrating as I'm looking to unlock the bootloader.
Tried rebooting from both MHP/PHP/Stock usb modes, which all opened an adb shell successfully, but fastboot mode is not recognized at all on the same usb port.
SOLVED see lower posts.
when you run the "adb devices" what does it show? If I had to guess it will show your device but say something about it being locked. I had to go into device manager, and manually switch my ADB device driver over to the correct one. I cant remember off of the top of my head which driver it was, but it took me nearly an hour to figure it out.

Looks like what I'm used to, as I said, adb shell works fine, I can change directory to system or whatever. Just doesn't recognize the device at all in fastboot mode.
hmmm, odd. Does it say "waiting for device" in adb when you are in the bootloader? Or is it telling you to plug in the USB on the bootloader screen (phone).
If the latter is the case, try and run your commands.

It's telling me to plug in the cord on the bootloader screen. "connect usb cable", I connect it. It still says "connect usb cable". However, in my device manager, I have an Android device that does not have a driver (Code 28).
go ahead and try and run your commands in ADB while on the bootloader screen.

neither adb or fastboot commands work in bootloader mode on the same USB that ADB worked when phone was on.
The device is recognized in device manager (when in fastboot mode) but has no driver. Is it not the same usb driver responsible for ADB when device is on???
one second, let me plug mine in here quick and see which device driver is assigned.

here is what mine shows up as. I was hoping it would show me the driver file. If you have a device with no driver, I would point it to the google universal USB driver. (i believe that is what I used)

Solution to the problem was right click on "Android Phone" that was beside other "Unknown Devices" -> Update Driver Software -> Browse My Computer For Driver Software -> Let Me Pick From A List Of Devices -> (Since the Google SDK platform tools were installed, but not even full SDK, containined generic choices such as adb interface, bootloader interface, hawaii hdb interface etc.) -> Chose Android Bootloader Interface.
Phone now registers as Android Bootloader Interface under "Android Phone" in device manager. Strange since when phone is on it registers in a different category. Also strange, as phone still says "Connect USB Data Cable" as if it isn't connected to the laptop. But just performed "fastboot devices" and it is recognized by the computer for fastboot activities! So good enough for all intents and purposes.
When the phone is on, it appears as a ADB Interface under Universal Serial Bus devices. When the phone is in bootloader mode it appears as Android Bootloader under Android Phone (the new driver). ADB works when the phone is on, but ADB does not work in bootloader mode. Only fastboot works in bootloader mode.

No, thank you! Glad the post is here for others now.
Ok. I runned into all of this issues. I finally discovered that after you went into recovery, the device was being installed as a kedacom USB device. So I researched a little and found the solution in the link below.
Short solution:
Right click on "Start Button" and select Device Manager
Find Kedacom, drilldown and right click to update driver
Browser Computer
Let me Pick...
Then Select ADB Driver.
That should fix it.
I hope it helps.

Hi,
It happen when I mistakenly Flash this precious phone with Z2 ROM. Now it totally dead. once I want to try to Flash using PC, it is showing the Driver but no COM # in it.
I've tried so many driver but no change, it still no COM # in devices manager so in Miflash or any other Z1 Flashing Applications.
Need you help to solve this issue.
Method 1.
Turn off your device, keep pressing UP volume button and attach USB.
Method 2.
Turn off your device, attach USB cable and suddenly press POWER button after that (One time).
You will have Qualcomm port for 5 secs.

Connect your device to PC,
Right click on port from device manager,
Go to properties> Port Settings> Advanced.
Tick "Use FIFO buffers", if it's already ticked. Leave it as it is.
Now locate "COM Port Number" and select any COM# (ex. COM3)
(Don't select 'in use' COM port)
Click "OK" and see if it works.

I'm facing same issue with my YU Yureka hardbricked phone also when I unplug it doesn't go, I need to restart my Pc to make it work again really need to solve this issue please help.
Is your phone in bootloop, if yes then let it completely die first. Then charge it for 5-10 mins( don't try to turn it on) and repeat the flashing process.
Make sure that ur flasing files are selected and com port dialogue box is already opened before connecting the phone on qfil. Then connect the usb cable holding the volume up button, as phone is detected by qfil imidiately press the ok button and then click on download. Com port detects only for 5 seconds.
Sorry for my bad english.
