App windows go small after tapping app switcher button - Android Head-Units

Hi, I recently installed a Joying head unit, JY-UQ135N4G (7in 2Din with physical volume knob). When I tap the app switcher button on the home screen, it resizes all the apps windows really small, centred within the screen. How do I get these app windows to fill the screen like normal? I'm new to Android so may have inadvertently tapped something. I've posted on Joying forum but had no replies. Thanks in advance.

Frustrated, I reluctantly reinstalled the firmware & did a factory reset. It fixed the problem but the trade off is re-doing all my settings again & reinstalling apps. Oh well…

Finally happy with my Android stereo

EDIT: So I wrote this post to help others and show what I've done to make the unit look amazing, but seems I can't post pics because I'm new. Not entirely sure I can be bothered now, which is a shame because the launcher looks great.
So I bought the Seicane unit for my 2015 Subaru Outback
First impressions
Sound quality was actually very good, as good as my premium audio that came with the car.
Very quick to boot, basically it's up and running by the time I leave my street
The 3.5G usb modem that came with it didn't work so I ditched that straight away
The interface SUCKS
The screen is bright and clear and capacitive touch is great
The unit also looks 100% stock with no external branding.
4 months on
I found I still hated the interface so I have changed it so it looks like this
Launcher https:// ibb.co/fx5Bfz
App Drawer https:// ibb.co/fRPRDK
I used NOVA Prime launcher with the following tweaks
5 icons wide and 2 icons high for launcher page
Hid the status bar
Swipe up for app drawer
5 icons wide and 2 icons high for launcher
Adjusted text size to suit (I think it's the largest available)
Renamed certain apps to fit in the launcher better
I also installed the Simplicon Icon Pack from Google Play and used this to replace all icons that don't look quite right including the default radio app. Notice they are all circles now.
I also mapped the steering wheel controls to the following
The only button that is out of place is that the Answer button is both an Answer and Hangup Button, this makes sense to me as you can't hangup without first answering.
The hangup button is now a way to launch Android Auto.
Steering Controls https:// ibb.co/mwV2Lz[/IMG]
Android Auto
I have installed android auto natively on the stereo, this means no phone connection is required, it also unfortunately means phone calls can't be made from within the app. Fortunately tapping the answer call button on the steering wheel brings up the native dialler. So it's not too immersion breaking, but it is one of my only gripes.
Sound Quality
Sound quality is great....except when Google maps/Google assistant or Android auto is giving navigation directions, for some reason it feels like the audio is being affected by these apps and the quality goes downhill. Often times hitting the voice assistant button and then quickly hitting back can get things back to normal, but there is definitely a problem here. But as these stereo's are in a grey area of support nothing is being done about it.
I think overall I'm extremely happy with where things are, my next goal is to build a very simple app that once open begins streaming audio from a predefined source. My goal is to install this app x8 or so, create a custom icon for each radio station in my area and put these all on page 2 of the launcher. The plan is I will be able to scroll one page to the right and have all 10 of my favourite radio stations with their logos as the icons, I want to be able to press any station once and have the app launch and start streaming until I press stop, or another app takes over, whether that be another streaming app or my spotify library.
I think it's now a massive improvement from the default setup and worked perfectly for MY needs.
Here it is installed in the car https: //ibb.co/fwPe0z

I have the same unit. I can only quote what Eonon told me which is that you can't change anything on the home screen. I know that' s not exactly what you asked, but I assume it's the same. There is a steering button learn function, but I think I only saw that come up after I installed an update Eonon sent me. I have not played around with it. Be cautious the update introduced a couple of other bugs (no volume control after using the Google Assistant, keyboard keeps reverting to Japanese (I've set it to English multiple times, but once the HU restarts, the keyboard comes up in Japanese again.
I'll get a video of accessing the steering learn function and get back you.

Android Headunit Radio App Not Appearing in Other Launchers

I really like the headunit and the default launcher is good tbf but I love tinkering with things and not leave anything stock, (a reason enough for me to never be an apple product user ) so this problem is kinda frustrating because it doesn't allow me to use other launchers like carwebguru and car launcher as the fm radio is a vital part of my experience. so is there a way to make it appear or an app that acts like a shortcut or passthrough? or any other solution
car launcher in the app menu, there is a + button in the bottom left, then show all apps. go back to carlaucher home and add as shortcut.

launcher and climate controls for car

I just got a new head unit for my car. The launcher seems to be VERY limited. I am unable to change the home screen or determine what launcher is being used (perhaps it is custom built). The unit appears to be XYauto 9212A running Android 12.0. Under apps it just shows "launcher" and the version is "null", so not very helpful.
I would like to try other launchers, but am hesitant because I don't want to lose the climate controls that appear at the bottom of the screen.
Does anyone know if the climate controls are a widget, or are they built into the launcher?
Would I need to do anything to backup the current system before trying a new launcher so I can get back to the current launcher if needed?
Many thanks in advance.
Post Android system information including mcu version.
Then search forums based on mcu prefix for information
Here is the info on my system.
I didn't see anything relevant on the forums.
You can use any launcher you want.
The upper buttons are always visible exactly as the climate control.
These are provided by the system.apk (named different on some devices)
The launcher will just take place between both parts. Not a good solution but it is like it is.
If somethings not working, you can just set the launcher back to the original one. Nothing will get destroyed.
At least you should know that this is no real Android 12. That shows also the current used ROM of 2GB, that is never sufficient for Android 12.
Thank you for the info.
This is EXACTLY what I wanted to know.
I can try other launchers without disturbing the climate controls.
You are correct about it not being Android 12. I ran "Fake Device Test" and it shows android 8.x and only 1GB memory :-( I'll have to remove it from the car and send it back.

I like my climate control to be physical, is there any way to disable the climate control from my alps 9211B Android Head Unit? I found nothing in regular settings under 8888 and 8878 doesn't do anything. Any ideas?
Sorry for necromancy

Sorry to say... At least I found no real way to get rid of that.
I use mine in horizontal mode (can be turned 90°) and I use Fcc Car launcher on it. I still have the top bar with these annoying buttons and so fare no way to get rid of them.... but I stopped working on that unit, it´s just now a nice music box in my office, built into a shelf for now.

Panel Buttons remap

Hi,
Can you point me the way to remap the panel buttons on my new radio?
The only thing I can find is „touch study“, but there seems to be no key assigned, and it doesn’t react on any keypress, they must be assigned somewhere else …
Thanks

Touch study should be the right menu. I think you have to clear first

Thanks, but nothing happens when I press clear. The button only shortly changes the color to dark blue and back. All other buttons start flashing after prressing, but nothing else happens then.

Thanks in advance, but this seems really only to work for touch-buttons. In my case with hardware-buttons absolutely nothing happens while pressing clear. And when I try to assign the key to new functions, it doesn´t realize that and switches to the old (so not cleared) functions of these buttons.
Understood. Are the hardware buttons out of function or do you just want to assign different actions?
If 2nd case: which action do you want to execute?

they work, but only with the default actions. I really want to have one for carplay and one for torque (OBD), but I tried other functions too. Could they be hardcoded? I cannot believe this, and if so, to which app?

Yes, I think they are hard coded. E.g. SWC control are hard coded, too (at least if SWC is connected via CAN BUS).

I‘ve got a 2006 Toyota, swc isn‘t realized via CAN an I can remap swc via app. Do you think it‘s worth a try with another firmware? But which one? Is it possible to make a full backup to recover it before trying?

That's why I added "at least if SWC is connected via CAN Bus". If SWC is a resistance matrix and directly connected to the head unit the learn functionality can be used. In some cases the resistance matrix is connected to the can box which allows to change the wiring to get the learning function.

No. There are only slight differences between the firmwares. Most of the functions are bundled in one central system app "MainUI" which is very restricted and not open source.
If you have a dedicated button to start the navigation app and you can set the navigation software, you should have an eye on AppSwitcher.

Understood. But isn't MainUI a part of the firmware?
I installed AppSwitcher and it is really a good workaround. Thanx for this great work. Is there any chance to let Appswitcher autostart other apps (maybe even in background)? I'd like to have torque to run in background all the time (so it can collect obd data), but it's killed every time I start the car and must be startet first. I already have added it to the whitelist via your JunsunSleepConfigurator, but it's gone everytime I start the car...

AppSwitcher can start the last used media app or an Automate flow. Have a look in the AppSwitcher thread - I crated a post for this. Let's continue AppSwitcher related questions in the AppSwitcher thread to keep topics together.
Please note: It's not possible to start an app in background. This is not supported by Android. Usually the app gets started and then the home screen or another app.
