EDIT: So I wrote this post to help others and show what I've done to make the unit look amazing, but seems I can't post pics because I'm new. Not entirely sure I can be bothered now, which is a shame because the launcher looks great.
So I bought the Seicane unit for my 2015 Subaru Outback
First impressions
Sound quality was actually very good, as good as my premium audio that came with the car.
Very quick to boot, basically it's up and running by the time I leave my street
The 3.5G usb modem that came with it didn't work so I ditched that straight away
The interface SUCKS
The screen is bright and clear and capacitive touch is great
The unit also looks 100% stock with no external branding.
4 months on
I found I still hated the interface so I have changed it so it looks like this
Launcher https:// ibb.co/fx5Bfz
App Drawer https:// ibb.co/fRPRDK
I used NOVA Prime launcher with the following tweaks
5 icons wide and 2 icons high for launcher page
Hid the status bar
Swipe up for app drawer
5 icons wide and 2 icons high for launcher
Adjusted text size to suit (I think it's the largest available)
Renamed certain apps to fit in the launcher better
I also installed the Simplicon Icon Pack from Google Play and used this to replace all icons that don't look quite right including the default radio app. Notice they are all circles now.
I also mapped the steering wheel controls to the following
The only button that is out of place is that the Answer button is both an Answer and Hangup Button, this makes sense to me as you can't hangup without first answering.
The hangup button is now a way to launch Android Auto.
Steering Controls https:// ibb.co/mwV2Lz[/IMG]
Android Auto
I have installed android auto natively on the stereo, this means no phone connection is required, it also unfortunately means phone calls can't be made from within the app. Fortunately tapping the answer call button on the steering wheel brings up the native dialler. So it's not too immersion breaking, but it is one of my only gripes.
Sound Quality
Sound quality is great....except when Google maps/Google assistant or Android auto is giving navigation directions, for some reason it feels like the audio is being affected by these apps and the quality goes downhill. Often times hitting the voice assistant button and then quickly hitting back can get things back to normal, but there is definitely a problem here. But as these stereo's are in a grey area of support nothing is being done about it.
I think overall I'm extremely happy with where things are, my next goal is to build a very simple app that once open begins streaming audio from a predefined source. My goal is to install this app x8 or so, create a custom icon for each radio station in my area and put these all on page 2 of the launcher. The plan is I will be able to scroll one page to the right and have all 10 of my favourite radio stations with their logos as the icons, I want to be able to press any station once and have the app launch and start streaming until I press stop, or another app takes over, whether that be another streaming app or my spotify library.
I think it's now a massive improvement from the default setup and worked perfectly for MY needs.
Here it is installed in the car https: //ibb.co/fwPe0z

Its free and looks pretty cool... gonna install it when i get home (no cables here) if anyone has a play before the end of the day i'd appreciate opinions before i do the deed myself!

Well, i gave it a try yesterday on my WM5 wizard.
Its overall look and feel is really quite impressive. All the animations are unbelivably smooth, even without any overclocking. The app is finger-friendly, but i dislike list scrolling method they used - it's not like the one in fTouchflo, or iContact, where you scroll the list as if it was a physical object and moves in sync with the finger sweeping the screen, but instead the list moves in the direction of the sweep: if you put your finger on the screen and move it down a bit, the list will start scrolling down at constant speed. if you move finger farther down, it will accelerate and again keep constant speed if finger is still. if you move finger up, it will slow down, move it u even farther, ant the list will reverse direction and scroll up. It's not very intuitive, not to mention that it's really hard to use to precisely scroll long lists. If they changed this one thing, the overall fell of the program would improve significantly.
Beside that UI is clean and well designed, gives you quick access to start menu, settings (control panel, wifi, BT, GSM module, sound volume), tasks, calendar, appointments and clock, it also has some customizable menus for accessing frequently used software.
The downside is that it replaces your Today screen, so you won't be able to use your favorite Today plugins.
Overall, it's worth a try, especially for a user who just wants a phone with a simple, yet really good-looking interface. More advanced users who like to be able to customize everything might find this a bit limiting.
Overall, the program really has huge potential, and let's not forget that it's just the first public version. It will certainly improve over time. I'd recommend giving it a try, just be aware that there are some uninstallation issues read the tread on pointUI forums for more info, or if you have something like SPB backup or other software that does FULL device backup, use it and if something goes wrong, simply HR the device.
By the way:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355961&page=5
Given it a try, and was impressed by the smooth flowing interactive menu's. But I find its quicker and easier to use SPB Shell (yes it looks basic in comparison but its straight forward and easily customised) and have therefore unistalled the software. However do not be put off by my comments, give it a go.
tange.
prior to my phone breaking (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=284 solutions on a postcard please) i used this UI for a few days and throught it was pretty cool. theres deffo a learning curve as some of the apps are located in strange places but overall i was very happy with it.
Impressive, but very bad support for non-English OS.
Give it time. Its a brand new and revolutionary program and those guys are doin it all in their free time so you got to give them time.
I'm running this on my wizard, Tried it and I liked it enough that I won't leave it alone.
Runs fast on my wizard, thumb approved, things are organized a little funny but after a day of using it everything is cool, I haven't looked yet but I would like to custom the 4 icons that lauch programs and some things are linked incorrectly but overall i'm impressed with the program out of box and I hope development keeps up.
i just wanted to ask
does the weather application on PointUI cost... if so.. .does any1 no how much
thanks in advance
weather is free
i think they get their weather info from yahoo/weather channel, free
PontUI
Been using this for 3 days now and I love it. This and pocketCM with a the pontUI skin is amazing. Also the Iphone a like skin works well.
The main screen is great with the middle ribbon allowing really smooth action to access Analogue clock, digital clock, Calender, Tasks, Local weather and appointments.
Main screen top contains from left to right; Lock, signal meter Carrier info, Volume, Battery and Cog (settings).
You can lock the device on lock icon, hit the signal icon and the screen flip animates to show all connections settings (Flight mode, phone status wifi things like that) Hit the Speaker Icaon and you can adjust phone and speaker volumes as well as mute. hit the battery icon (which show bat level) and you can see battery life and go to power settings and backlight settings (well I can't but hey it's a beta) Hit the Cog and too many settings to list but among them is update feature so you can get the latest version straight to your device, you can also exit PontUI Home from here.
You have four icon down the bottom of the main screen which are, left to right; phone icon for call history list, tap it then swipe right on a name to call or sms them. Envelope icon press this to go to your email account (can choose which one through new registry string) next is SMS icon tap it to go to standard SMS app. Then last is the WM Icon, tap to go to windows media player (can choose which one through new registry string).
There is also a bar with an arrow down the bottom which you tap this then gives you four options; New, from which you can create new Email, SMS, MMS, Appointment, task, document or spreadsheet.
Favourites which shows all apps in the start menu folder. Applications which allows to to smoothly scroll through all installed apps and Currently running which does what it says on the tin.
As this App evolves i'm sure these menus will become nicely configurable.
I 'm really loving this App and it's only BETA. I'm running HTC Trinity (orange M700) and it's just sooo smooth. I tried Freestyl, which is good and I've been following, but when I tried this, I was blown away.
It's kind of nice to have an App that seems to integerate well with the phone rather than being a kind of clucky overlay that you can tell isn't meant to be there.
I urge you all to try it and see what you think.
Cheers all.
Logicalstep
loving it
What i think they can improve are:
1 make the hardware buttons to work, now i can't take a picture, record any sound, or change the volume with the h-buttons.
2 a contacts app will be nice and as well a favorite contacts like the htc home
3 a way to close app on the currently running menu
4 a little bigger back button or more to the left cause when i try to pres the back button with the tumb i usually had to try 2 or 3 times couse is really near to the border.
finaly a way to select favorite app that don’t depend of the start menu
don’t get me wrong i think that app is amazing but this 5 thing will make it perfect to me
I am loving Pointui!
Is it possible to do this and if so then how? I'd like to map it to brut maps or my GPS app. Atm it displays "Activity not found" because I removed Google maps
unfortunately no, however two things, 1st, there are extra spaces on the froyo build of car home so maybe in a later update this will be possible? 2nd there is a replacement app cant remember what its called but just search car home in the market, it takes you to a full screen were you can add programmes to the grid only downside is it stretches the icon like crap and it doesnt look that nice. However very useful if functionality is more important than aesthetics then i recommend this i found the name, its "car dock v2" and its free
I'd like this thread to be a repository for ideas on software improvements to our Evos. Let's try to keep it specific, on topic, and limited to things that are possible with software changes via kernels, ROMS, or model specific apps. Please don't suggest vague things like "Make XXX better". I will update this post as necessary as items are added or crossed off either due to them being fulfilled or deemed impossible.

I think that's a decent start. Hopefully we get some interest here and generate enough ideas to keep the devs (and maybe even HTC) busy.

you can already do that with the "no lock" widget. the only trouble is it disables the lock screen. that's not much of a problem for me though. and you can reaenable it with a nice toggle widget on the screen for times you want the screen to lock. (when in a pocket)

Then that isn't exactly a "fix".
Just an FYI. I found a great app for rooted phones that provides shortcuts to allow you to reboot your phone into:
1) Standard Boot
2) Recovery
3) Bootloader.
I just leave it far out of the way so that I don't hit it accidentally.
It's called "Quick Boot" and available in the Market.
Glad to have this all in 1 place.
Make sure to add links to the works in progress.
We should add a fix for camera grain & general quality.
For the first time in the history of this forum I'm gonna recommended that this be put in dev.
Swyped from my Evo 4G
Hey, OP, Edit this in under the Audio section....this is by far my biggest disappointment with this unity, as my Samsung Moment took care of this beautifully...
Disable/Optional AGC (automatic gain control) on microphone input.
My Moment had an option to disable it for recording. I had recorded my band's (extremely loud) practices with my Moment and the recordings were absolutely fantastic for a single piezo mic in an imperfect room under extreme SPL torture. I've been recording for nearly 17 years now, with real equipment...but it's so handy to have a rather capable CD quality recorder in your pocket.
download "hertz", or another audio recorder. We can do CD quality (44.1khz 16-bit mono) as it is... but with the AGC on it pumps and breaths and sounds completely terrible...even for voice recordings.
Wow, great list! Video and audio recording quality at the top of the list for me. FM Transmitter huh? Didn't even know it had one!
I'd like to see built-in settings for the camera that are easily accessible. Preset configurations for brightness, white balance, iso, etc for certain shots. (ie. outdoor, night, people) Even if we couldn't get preset settings, a way to save settings and easily load them would be nice.
I like the idea of making the volume button the shutter. Would it be possible to make the power button function as the shutter when in camera/camcorder mode, and have the volume rocker zoom in/out?
well it'd defiantly be nice for any of these issues to be addressed. Thanks for putting up a wish list OP, helps keep everything organized.
Ability to use a BT keyboard with Android Terminal or general text entry.
How about a fixed/updated/replaced BT Audio stack for higher quality?
Forced FLAC/ALAC support (Yes, this is supposed to be coming in Gingerbread, but having it now in Eclair/Froyo would be good!)
I like all the others but I disagree with the 360 rotation, I stopped using fresh because the 270 rotation.

Yep, keep that the way it is! Or optional, because 270 already sucks 360 is even worse.
How are we supposed to tap away on our screens while lying sideways in bed?
This could be added.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7178242
Also this could be altered.
Better control of charging (and other) LEDs for notifications via blink rate, "breathing", or both at same time

To include color change but more importantly dimming and brightening of the leds, specifically to help with light bleed issues.
If my bottom keys were just a tad less bright i wouldn't want to replace the phone so badly.
So far looks great!
If all these were resolved I would love my Evo so much more.

This is a little vague. Do you have or know specifics? Improve bitrate? Improve response time? Lower noise floor? I'll leave it the way it is for now but lets try to firm it up a bit.
Updates have been made.
Cut & Paste
I'd like a reliable consistent method to cut & paste selected text.
I've found the the "long tap" method of bringing up a cut or paste tool does not work in all cases. I want to be able to cut text from emails, web sites, etc - no matter which app I use to view this text. Similarly, I want to be able to paste text into emails, the URL window in the browser, misc text fields, etc. The "long tap" method works only in some cases.
I want to cut selected text / words - not entire paragraphs. Sometimes I get a tool that helps do this (Sense?), other times not.
Also, this may sound stupid but holding down one of the soft keyboard's arrow keys should keep moving the cursor.
Shouldn't need to click 100 times to get from one side of a sentence to another LOL.
This should've been included already..
After holding for a second or so it starts going automatically until you release.
So what things do we need to update now that 2.2 is here and we've had a chance to play with it for a while?
What should we cross off and what should we add?
I would love to see an EQ for the sense music player.
I am completely stock on the .6 update. So far, I noticed that:
1) In the camera app> switching to front facing camera> undoing mirror mode...
It works great in landscape mode, but turn it vertical and it shows you upside down!
2) Regarding music, I only use Pandora so far. The experience was good on 2.1 and now sucks on the .3 and .6 updates:
2a) Even in high quality mode and plugged right into my car's aux input, the sound is pretty bad. The highs are too high, and the low frequencies are muffled and distorted sounding - this is without even taking the sound system to the limit. I am not just talking about fine tuning this sound - it has a long way to go. This sound is way off even for "normal people" listening. Also, yes it should have an EQ, or at least a bunch of preset EQ's for different music styles.
2b) Pandora used to just pause during a phone car or while using nav. Then, it would resume. Since the .3 update, and now even on the .6 update, it pauses Pandora and then I have to go back to Pandora and click play again.
3) Also regarding navigation, It is a pain in the ass that you have to hit the "GPS" switch widget and then open nav. Also, if you turn off the "GPS" switch widget but leave nav on, nav won't shut itself off. Then, you go back to nav to shut if off.. it makes you turn on GPS again, and then go back to nav to officially say "exit navigation". Then, you STILL have to go back to the GPS widget and turn it off!
4) Text messages are very useful for acquiring an address or email address. When getting one through text, I can not copy the info to move to nav or email. I have to go to forward, then copy (and I cant even copy just what I want - I have to copy all, including "FWD:") Then I have to cancel the forward, and then paste it where I need it. We should be able to copy whatever we want, including in texts.
1. stop compressing mms pics so much
2. Where the hell is iTunes streaming?? I thought google was going to release it with froyo.. as well as a music, video and online market. I'm not seeing more than a demo market that shows some top apps
3. Add a native eq... at least give some presets, though a graphic eq would be awesome
4. stop being so lazy htc and work on these things.
Hi all i bought and installed this unit:
Model: T3 K2001M
Board: exdroid
Hardware: sun8iw11p1
Product: K2001M_MSG_S212101
CPU ARM Cortex A7
Display: 600x1024
Android Version: 6.0.1 (even if it display 7.1.1 in settings)
Build ID: K2001M_msg_s212101.20180919.14412246
Kernel Version: 3.10.65
(all the details are also in the attached pictures readed with AIDA64)
My problem is that the software doesn't allow me to chenge the default music player and radio app (the installed one is without RDS Name station). If i select another music player when i open the Navi software or the settings the music stops. I wish to install on it a better firmware also to able the steering controls because this unit as the canbus but i can't activate it.
Can someone please help me to update the software?
Thanks
I just bought one of these same units to put in an old pickup truck I'm playing around with. I was able to get the steering wheel controls to work with the factory controls by tapping into the correct wires in the vehicle wiring harness. Then playing around with the Car Connect app to program the steering wheel buttons to the unit. I just googled the wiring diagram and pin placement for my vehicle. The lack of RDS and the music stopping when opening another app is my next challenge. Hopefully someone here can chime in.
my unit is a t3-k2001m
after firmware up gradation screen dosent fit 100%, no matter how many time and various FW i tried every time same issue, 20% of screen edge is cut on right side
First of all, I am glad to hear someone bought this radio (and is figuring out how the hell it works) because me too.
If you want to keep spotify or others on background running, youtube vanced or some other apps you must go to the menu showed by attached thumbnail from ceyrekoto, then hit on tab general settings and scroll down the left sidebar until the end. Tap over "White List". Then use add and delete to open a list with radio buttons in order to select which apps you want to run on background.
Any other option like battery settings (three dot button, and background apps) didn't work for me. Also I tried before to change in android settings -> memory and keep Spotify as "not opttimized, that also won't make any difference.
Well I write a bonus for you, forgetting messy things with Chinese cheap radios.
The final archievement was using FCC Car Launcher and Spotify (may be you can look for similar settings in other launcher).
It worked for me fine and with the rounded album art showing from spotify even static picture from Youtube.
When installing FCC Car Launcher and choose a skin showing album art widget you should do this:
1 you must attend to do the checks on android options launched by FCC Car Launcher in its starting guide (about enabling notifications and etc.)
2 when selection of album art settings appears, select the three aps you want to use (I selected Spotify, Youtube and Radio). This enables control buttons back, play/pause and next that appear on this widget.
3 Tap Home to launcher (if not select as always to replace the actual launcher by FCC Car Laucher, there is also the option on Android Settings to change laucher)
4 open spotify, go to library and look for Settings
5 search for the option enable notification for third party apps
6 Play some music
7 Home to laucher and you can see a floating notification by FCC Car Laucher telling the Artist - Song playing.
8 If you are lucky the rounded widget will show the album art. You can test it with youtube if you want
The messy thing I suffer now is that Album Art frozen and but I can read correctly in widget the current correct artist - song playing, also control playing with buttons.
I forgot to tell you anything about steering wheel control, the thing I know I needed an intermediate device to connect those buttons to the radio. Look for your car specific device on aliexpress, I have mine for peugeot 206
Hope it helps
Bye
you have this firmware android 7 ? you can send me please this update, my mail is
I love running apps natively on my Atoto S8 head unit, but music apps like Amazon Music and Spotify are designed to work in portrait mode only apparently.
The UI is wonky in landscape, forced to fill a screen in ways it was not designed to, and leaving some UI elements inaccessible. Has anyone found any workarounds?
I found that Amazon was the worst, with the tiny little play/pause button almost impossible to hit while driving with any kind of accuracy. I discovered "car mode" which helps tremendously within that app, however you get a very limited set of options (no way to pull up all your playlists to find) unless you go back to "not car mode". I see there's the ability to speak your commands with Alexa, so that could be cool, but trying that gives me a screen to click to enable Alexa, WITH THE "NEXT" BUTTON OFF THE BOTTOM OF THE DISPLAY WHERE I CAN'T CLICK IT. So I'm stuck without that, too.
This is so silly, I don't understand why more of these apps aren't designed with a landscape option in mind. But meanwhile, I'm wondering if there's some way around this I'm missing. Is there an option to make portrait apps letterboxed in the middle of the screen? Not ideal, but at least I can do things like enable Alexa and then go back to stretching to widescreen. Or is there a hacked/modified version of these apps for car units? Perhaps a widget or something that can plugin and give you control?
I've seen some car launchers seem to give you basic AVRCP controls and even album art, I'm wondering if this can be taken a step further and possibly have a companion UI app for different oriented screens? Or do we just live with this and rely on using Android Auto for all that?
I like native apps better than AA.
