Blurry pictures from 3rd party apps - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

6T Mclaren, rooted on OOS 11.1.1
Taking pictures on stock camera app or Gcam, everything works great. But when taking a photo through a 3rd party app, the result is a blurry mess. For example on Vivino (the wine label scanning app) or Genius Scan (pic to pdf scanner). On all other apps that use camera the result is always blurry. Any ideas why?

Not yet, but I did learn not to use third party software for things like camera... the creators of third party apps may know programming, and nothing of photography.
3rd party apps often copy (unknowingly) other 3rd parties apps, change a few details to say 'I was here' and you end up with the result?
Your 3rd party app may be based online, I wrote in a thread with a similar problem last night, I'll link to it to see if it helps you:
Can someone tell me what the xxx is wrong with my IG camera?
Anyone else experiencing this? Any fixes? IG Camera shoots this buggy mess. Only happens on my main account and not on my other accounts. Only happens when taking photo and not videos. Tried everything, clear cache, clear data...

yes but this wasn't a problem before. i used the same software hundreds of times and never had problems. and it is technically impossible that ALL 3rd party software that uses the camera results in blurry photos.
and please note that I'm not referring to camera apps here, but to other apps which require you to take photos in the app itself (scan a wine label, scan a document, upload proof of identity to a crypto app etc).

I have the same problem. My wine selections have taken a nose dive since vivino started taking blurry pictures. What's crazy is it's in focus when I'm about to take the picture, but then becomes blurry when captured.
I'm on Oos 11.1.2.2

I'm suspecting that at some point, OnePlus broke "this feature" through an update. Some devs from software I use and which exhibited this problem have managed to fix it. Point in case is Genius Scan (which had also listed in it's changelog something along the lines of "fixed blurry pictures on Onepkus devices").

unique camera app? intermittent picture-taking app

is there any camera application on the market that supports the option of taking multiple pictures without the user pressing the button to take them?
for example, an app that can do the following: i set the app to take a picture every 5 seconds for an hour without me touching the phone.
if not, anyone care to develop something like this? it would be quite useful in many different circumstances
Not that I know of, but I just found a cool app called Motion Detector. Will monitor for motion from your camera and upload a picture.
Though, if your phone is the one doing the motion detecting... how do you get the updates?
thanks for the help, ill check out that app. it may be of some use

Pictures taken in portrait end up sideways

I have a Nexus S 4G (Sprint), and I'm running CM7. Whenever I take a photo in portrait mode, it appears correctly in the gallery, but ends up sideways whenever I e-mail it out. But, if I take a photo in landscape and send it, it looks fine.
I have heard solutions of cropping the photo in order to get it to "stick" to portrait, but I'm wondering if anybody is aware of any other solution for this... short of either cropping or only shooting in landscape.
Thanks!
That happened to me yesterday.
I would be interested in knowing a solution as well...cropping my photos becomes a pain when I'm trying to send out several of them so my parents can see their grandkids..
I have the same issue. Its a pita. It happens on stock rom also.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
The Nexus S uses the Orientation field in the photo's EXIF information to determine whether it's portrait or landscape. The gallery app recognizes this information and displays it appropriately, but a lot of third-party applications and services do not. This wasn't an issue in the past because the camera give the photo portrait dimensions immediately upon saving.
So, depending on where you send your portrait photos to, your mileage may vary. This method is trending upward among OS and manufacturers, so it's up to software developers to look for this data when parsing images.

My Evo never had this issue using Handcent or Gmail. Somewhere the software in the NS is dropping the ball./
Yeah...I hear what you're saying about the technical aspects, but even when I send a mms the picture shows fine in the gallery, but comes out upside down in the message (or whatever orientation it was when taken)...I feel that the phone's own app for messaging should be able to read that info right?
I wonder if using a third-party camera app like Vignette would be a workaround.
Maybe I'll give that a shot...

It does seem to work okay in Vignette...
Wish there was an easy solution to this!
I honestly think this is a Samsung issue. I've only seen this issue on their phones... my girlfriend's dumbphone, friend's Focus, and my SNS all do the same thing. It's annoying as hell.
I've had this happen with every phone I have owned...and I've had a bunch! Seems the closer I am to the object it does this.

Change the Gallery shortcut in the STOCK CAMERA

Hello, I found the stock gallery very unpleasant
for exemple when you want to delete a picture, it take you 2-3 taps
AOSP gallery is really faster, you delete pictures in a blink, and if you miss you can still go back clicking "cancel" button
Don't want to change camera, beacause the stock one is clearly the one with the best results (sharpness, noise, focus...)
So, any way to change the app launcher by touching the little vignette on the corner of the camera app ?
Not anymore. Used to be possible on the first firmwares the phone came with, but they deleted that functionality. It's not possible on the S5, either, so likely a KitKat thing.
You also can't select it in Whatsapp, Facebook and other such apps. Wish we could.... Stock gallery is a nightmare if you have more than 20 pictures. I have about 6000, when I want to select a picture to send in Whatsapp I have exactly 1.2 seconds to select it before the gallery crashes and takes Whatsapp/Facebook with it.
I do have to object to the statement about the camera. FV5, Procapture and Zoom FX take much higher quality pictures.

That's a shame, gallery of the Google camera is freaking cool

Use telephoto and wide-angle cameras in other Apps

Hey everyone!
I'm not sure if this question has already been asked but is there a way to use cameras with telephoto and wide-angle lenses in other apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Google Camera etc.?
From what I've seen is that all of these apps open up the main standard camera and ignore the other two as if they doesn't exist.
May be a setting where I can change the default camera for the time being? FYI, there's no such option in Developer Options.
Thanks ya'll!
No, there's no way unless the developer specifically implements that, and even if they do I still recommending taking the picture through the original camera app and then sharing it through the third party due to the way third party apps work on Android
Only Instagram and Snapchat will make proper use of S10's cameras and that's because of an agreement, nothing has been implemented yet and pictures through external apps are all trash.

Google camera app

Google camera app can be installed on LOS 18.1 and yes, indeed: it does take very good photos!
But on the downside, when I tap the just taken picture, it tells me in order to view my photos I need to download another Google photo/gallery app, which will, according to the description, sort my photos automatically and upload it to Google drive. That are two things I surely don't want!
Is there any way to make the Google camera app work with some other, locally installed gallery app?
you can organize and view your photos in any other image manager.
however for the issue of looking at the picture right after it's taken and not be redirected to google photos I dont know the solution.
there are tons of gcam mods (<3).
perhaps one of those managed to change this behaviour
Thanks for the hint about gcam mods! I will try to find a suitable mod for me.
I know I can use any gallery app I want, but I find it annoying that Google want to force my pictures onto their servers, just because I want to use their camera app. Pictures I shoot are nothing that needs to be hidden, but I also don't want them "in the cloud". And I certainly don't want an algorithm made by G to sort my pictures!
