Use telephoto and wide-angle cameras in other Apps - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

Hey everyone!
I'm not sure if this question has already been asked but is there a way to use cameras with telephoto and wide-angle lenses in other apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Google Camera etc.?
From what I've seen is that all of these apps open up the main standard camera and ignore the other two as if they doesn't exist.
May be a setting where I can change the default camera for the time being? FYI, there's no such option in Developer Options.
Thanks ya'll!

No, there's no way unless the developer specifically implements that, and even if they do I still recommending taking the picture through the original camera app and then sharing it through the third party due to the way third party apps work on Android
Only Instagram and Snapchat will make proper use of S10's cameras and that's because of an agreement, nothing has been implemented yet and pictures through external apps are all trash.

Camera2 API support level for manual controls in 3rd party camera apps

Hi!
As a dedicated camera phone, I would expect the ZF3 Zoom to have good support for the Camera2 API that gives camera app developers access to manual controls. Can anyone run a test with "Camera2 probe" and let me know what the hardware support level is? It will be one of four: Legacy (worst), Limited, Full or Level 3 (best). I do hope it's either Full or Level 3, otherwise this would be a great disappointment.
Cheers!

What does that mean for custom camera apps in this phone?

By "custom" do you mean 3rd party camera apps or the native camera app of the phone? I'm mostly interested in pro video recording apps and as far as I can see they need 'Full' or 'Level 3' support to work at all (Filmic Pro) or have the pro mode with manual controls like shutter speed available (Lumio Cam for instance). I'm not sure how 'Limited' does affect most apps as I have only devices that have either 'Legacy' (which is the worst support level) or 'Full'/'Level 3' (best). Phone makers can integrate advanced manual controls in their native apps without relying (fully) on the Camera2 API because they manipulate the software on a deeper level but 3rd party devs need to rely on Camera2 API as far as I know.
Which are the best 3rd party camera apps to use? That's a new world for me.

Not so deeper, rather their own APIs or just Qualcomm APIs (extended Camera1).

Enable 3rd party aux cam

Hello everyone. I use open camera to shoot manual photos and its good but i cant change to wide and tele sensor as it can access to selfie and main cams only. I ve read somewhere that i should add open cameras package name to some file to enable 3rd party apps access to aux cams on some other phones. Is this true in our phones too? If so can anyone tell or at least point me to right direction to do so? Thx for reading and have a nice day

Xiaomi mi 9t and zhiyun smooth 4 compatibility

Hi all,
Recently I bought a zhiyun smooth 4 gimbal and that the app of the gimbal does not have permission to use all the lenses. The gimbal is compatible with Filmic Pro, but neither this app can use other lenses than the main one. It is possible to let third party apps use all the lenses of the phone?
Another possibility is to use the gimbal with MIUI camera app. Somebody knows if it is possible to use the buttons on the gimbal with the MIUI camera app? I tried to connect the gimbal manually via Bluetooth but with no luck.
i think the problem is the camera API. i posted this tread a while ago:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-9t/help/fix-camera2-api-to-cameras-camera-apps-t4078935
about the same problem, third party camera apps only see main camera, no wide or tele. because the phone tell the apps it has only one back camera.
only "special" apps circumvent this limitations, like the stock camera app or gcam
maybe a custom rom can shows all cameras properly.

Thank you for your reply. Maybe I will try a custom rom later. But for now I observed that with Filmic Pro the recorded videos are noisy with 24 fps (with higher fps is even worse) than that I observed with the stock camera app. This happens mostly inside where the lighting conditions are not perfect, but still I don't understand from where comes the difference.
Because of this issue, now I'm more interested in using the gimbal with the sock camera app. Even if I can use just the record button on the gimbal is better than to have noisy videos and pictures. But for the moment I could not find anything regarding this.

Google camera app

Google camera app can be installed on LOS 18.1 and yes, indeed: it does take very good photos!
But on the downside, when I tap the just taken picture, it tells me in order to view my photos I need to download another Google photo/gallery app, which will, according to the description, sort my photos automatically and upload it to Google drive. That are two things I surely don't want!
Is there any way to make the Google camera app work with some other, locally installed gallery app?
you can organize and view your photos in any other image manager.
however for the issue of looking at the picture right after it's taken and not be redirected to google photos I dont know the solution.
there are tons of gcam mods (<3).
perhaps one of those managed to change this behaviour
Thanks for the hint about gcam mods! I will try to find a suitable mod for me.
I know I can use any gallery app I want, but I find it annoying that Google want to force my pictures onto their servers, just because I want to use their camera app. Pictures I shoot are nothing that needs to be hidden, but I also don't want them "in the cloud". And I certainly don't want an algorithm made by G to sort my pictures!

Blurry pictures from 3rd party apps

6T Mclaren, rooted on OOS 11.1.1
Taking pictures on stock camera app or Gcam, everything works great. But when taking a photo through a 3rd party app, the result is a blurry mess. For example on Vivino (the wine label scanning app) or Genius Scan (pic to pdf scanner). On all other apps that use camera the result is always blurry. Any ideas why?
Not yet, but I did learn not to use third party software for things like camera... the creators of third party apps may know programming, and nothing of photography.
3rd party apps often copy (unknowingly) other 3rd parties apps, change a few details to say 'I was here' and you end up with the result?
Your 3rd party app may be based online, I wrote in a thread with a similar problem last night, I'll link to it to see if it helps you:
Can someone tell me what the xxx is wrong with my IG camera?
Anyone else experiencing this? Any fixes? IG Camera shoots this buggy mess. Only happens on my main account and not on my other accounts. Only happens when taking photo and not videos. Tried everything, clear cache, clear data...

yes but this wasn't a problem before. i used the same software hundreds of times and never had problems. and it is technically impossible that ALL 3rd party software that uses the camera results in blurry photos.
and please note that I'm not referring to camera apps here, but to other apps which require you to take photos in the app itself (scan a wine label, scan a document, upload proof of identity to a crypto app etc).

I have the same problem. My wine selections have taken a nose dive since vivino started taking blurry pictures. What's crazy is it's in focus when I'm about to take the picture, but then becomes blurry when captured.

I'm suspecting that at some point, OnePlus broke "this feature" through an update. Some devs from software I use and which exhibited this problem have managed to fix it. Point in case is Genius Scan (which had also listed in it's changelog something along the lines of "fixed blurry pictures on Onepkus devices").
