I was able to double push on the power button to open my camera app. But suddenly, for no reason it has stopped. When I try to change the button settings in the menu, it is grayed out and I cannot change it. Anyway to restore the functionality?

I can't even get into this menu.
Clicking on Emergency Rescue does nothing, should open a new menu.

So I have to say, I really don't like where the start menu button is on this. I really would like to replace that area with two soft keys, "Phone" and "Camera" since both of those hard keys on my phone are very temperamental.
So really, what I would like to do is remove the Start Menu, Contacts, and Set all together, and just have the slight overlay and the words "Phone" and "Camera".
Is there a way to do this without changing ROMS? I would rather not. Advise would be appreciated.

Select Reboot under System Action (in your posted picture) and than you have several options Type;Normal,Recovery,Bootloader,Shutdown. Last option is obviously the one you want.

I have read that you can click the dots at the top and locking apps is an option, i just dont seem to have it!
I want to lock spotify so i can 'close all' and it stays open for the session
i install Nova installed but tried samsung experience home which is the host one and it still doesnt change a thing, am i missing something?

Yes you can. Pull down the top bar (where you can turn on/off wifi), under the wifi logo there is an option to turn it on and off. I don't know what its called, but it has a weird description. Good luck
