Hi. I've been trying to flash a ROM onto my Note 4 using TWRP, but I've been struggling to get it on there.
In the past I've been able to use something like ADB sideload to flash and it worked perfectly. However, when I try to use ADB sideload, it sits there forever saying "Starting ADB sideload feature...". I also tried mounting and using the "Install" feature, but I couldn't get it to mount either. I have the Samsung USB drivers installed and I have the android platform tools on my computer.
Note:
The phone is not bootable, there is no ROM installed, I formatted the device.
TWRP v3.4.0-0
From ADB:
Android Debug Bridge v1.0.41
Version 31.0.2-7242960

Any help would be appreciated.
why do you want to sideload a rom? a custom ROM is in zip format which you flash by installing it from twrp
you don't need to mount anything
what n4 model do you have? if it's the Snapdragon, maybe it's the emmc issue
also, try to flash stock with Odin to see if you can use it normally
then reflash twrp

I installed twrp and wiped it but now i forgot to add the Rom into the storage folder, is there any way i can push the rom with adp or am I screwed?
Phone just loads in twrp. Any help would be greatly appreciate it. T-Mobile LG G2.
Try to install ROM via ADB slideload or just install Stock firmware via Download Mode . There is one other option, You can install ROM from USB via OTG .

Thank you for the speedy response I tried to click on adb side load but it seems like it wants me to browse for a file while in twrp.
Follow this guide

So I got root on the phone and installed recovery (twrp). Everything seemed to work fine. I put CM on the root and did the factory reset and wipe. When I tried to install it, it said it failed. Now I cant do anything but go to recovery. When I connect it to my computer, it makes the connect sound but doesnt show up in explorer.
Just wondering if anyone can help my. Ideally I would like to flash a rom (doesnt matter which) just to get an OS back.
I tried adb, it doesnt show up in the devices list and cant use sideload (just says starting but never does.

Do you have a back up you can flash too? That's a stupid question ( obviously you don't since your asking for an OS)
Are your adb drivers installed at all. Try download mode volume plus and power I believe.
Secondly what is the error. Error 7?
Corrsea's solution for error 7
Status 7 error means the rom developer is still using the old update binary script.
If you flash the latest philz recovery before you install a zip untick the setting that says" don't allow old update binary" Your zips should then flash without issue.
A better solution is to use the new update binary script yourself or ask the rom developer to update it.
Which you would have to flash from fastboot.
Make sure your adb drivers are installed though.
Sideload newer twrp, flash rom.

It should help!
I am relative new to Android and rooting so bear with me if I am saying the wrong things.
I've just gotten a Nexus 7 (2013, WiFi - "flo") and tried to root it on Marshmallow (MRA58V). I followed all the instructions - installed Google drivers, set up ADB/Fastboot using "Minimal ADB and Fastboot", unlocked bootloader, flashed custom boot.img, and then flashed TWRP (and CWMR) with Fastboot. When I then boot into TWRP, I cannot navigate to /sdcard where SuperSU is placed. When I check the log, it comes up with "cannot mount /boot, /system, /cache..." etc. The same thing happens in CWMR. I've tried to use NRT to root instead and the same problem happens. Am I missing something here? I've even downgraded to Lollipop with NRT and the same thing happened again. How can I not even get TWRP to work?! This is driving me insane!!!
Thanks for your help in advance.

sounds like either one of two things:
1. maybe you are flashing the wrong twrp recovery (is the codename correct? )
2. have you a complete new model? maybe it has a new partition table (wich means you will need a new twrp)
Sent from my Xperia T using XDA Free mobile app
Thanks for your reply. It is a brand new model I guess (bought it a few days ago for black Friday). It came with Lollipop 5.0 out of the box. I did use the latest TWRP for Flo so I guess it must be #2 (new partition tables). Do you know if it is still being developed? Last update seemed to be in July. Also, are there any alternatives? Ive tried the new Cyanogen Recovery which could access /sdcard but wouldn’t recognise SuperSU Zip to install.
Thanks again.
how can I install TWRP? right now I'm stuck at cyanogen recovery and it only supports cyanogen ROM's. I tried it via fastboot but in fastboot my device was unrecognized ( but in other cases: in recovery, system running adb is working correctly - I'm on fedora Linux = adb workin as breeze). My goal is to install gapps and I need TWRP for that.
try AutoRec lollipop , app avialable on Google play

thanks worked - I tried it before but there was small gotcha - I've to install newest possible 2.8.7.3 from http://www.gregtwallace.com/lgg2-projects/twrp/2-8-7-3.php maybe cause I've the bumped - signed bootloader. thanks anyway. But right now my phone is unusable cause setup wizard crashed, as I flashed the gapps.
but applications automatically updated how can I stop those annoying pop up warnings to show?
can I disable those warnings via adb cause I'm unable to do it via screen cause it is blocking the screen

Are you on stock Nougat or stock Marshmallow when you try to root?
The steps for rooting stock Nougat require flashing a custom kernel, else you will not be able to boot to system. A guide for rooting on Nougat is here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...de-root-moto-g4-plus-supersu-android-t3587918
That site is also quite old in terms of rooting (June 2016).

i just gathered enough courage to give it another shot from your link, but im lost in this part
Fastboot Install Method (No Root Required):
You will need the platform-tools from the Android SDK on your computer. Find the Android command line tools section on the page linked and install the SDK tools package. From the SDK Manager, download only the platform-tools to get adb and fastboot binaries.
Windows users will need proper drivers installed on their computer. You can try the simple FWUL adb/fastboot ISO or the Naked ADB drivers or the Universal ADB drivers if you don't already have a working driver installed
this is where im stuck, cant seem to find in the .zip file the adb or fastboot .bat to do the commands
any tip here?
i downloaded as it says the tools only

Okay, the step you've mentioned appears to be regarding the ADB tools?
You may already have those as you flashed the stock ROM, but in most cases the minimal ADB tools should be sufficient for your purpose rather that the ones alluded to in the TWRP post.
You can download the minimal ADB tools - rather than the ones you've found - from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790 1.4.2 is the version I have and have used to flash TWRP without issue. This should create a minimal ADB and fastboot folder in your Program Files directory.
Furthermore, you may wish to flash the Motorola USB drivers: https://motorola-global-en-uk.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/89881
Once you've got the minimal ADB and fastboot tools installed on your computer, then copy the TWRP image to that folder and flash/boot the TWRP image as directed. I'd suggest perhaps using shreps' TWRP 3.1.1 from here (I've generally found it to be more stable, though the 3.0.2 version should suffice): https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...covery-twrp-3-0-2-r3-moto-g4-g4-plus-t3494337
Then once you have TWRP, flash ElementalX v1.04 and either SuperSU 2.82 or magisk to root. I'm stably rooted on a XT1642 running NPJS25.93-14-10 (September 2017 patch) with shreps' TWRP 3.1.1, ElementalX 1.04 and magisk 13.3
