Hello everyone
I want to have an Android 2DIN head unit in my car, but I'm having a really tough time finding out which one I actually want. As we all know there are dozens of different brand names, looks etc. and who knows how many combinations of what's underneath - how do you choose from such a mess?
For example, what I'm looking for:
- a generic 2DIN Head Unit (nobody seems to make one fitting my Lexus IS200 directly so I will just use Metra frame)
- something modern, fast, capable and with good support (manufacturer and/or community) - I reckon I need MTCD/E PX5, right? Is 4GB RAM worth it? Android 8.0, 8.1? Plus there seem to be PX6 on the horizon, should I wait?
- physical buttons and I'd love a volume knob (no steering wheel controls for me)
- stuff like 3G/4G, GPS, wifi, BT, camera etc. seems to be the same so shouldn't be a factor, right?
So, given those parameters, how do I decide which unit to buy? Is the software interchangeable on all PX5 units? Are there any OS differences out of the box?
What about sound quality - is it the same (I see outputs of 4x45W, 48W, 50W - do they actually have different amplifiers?)? Any particular brand names to look for/avoid at all cost?
I've managed to google one useful link [cut] - is this site credible? (unfortunately I'm not allowed to post urls it seems, google "best android head unit" and click the one with wiki.ezvid)
Thanks for all your help!
I am not new to flashing ROMs, been doing it as a novice for years on phones and tablets. I love Android and the openness of the environment so when I was ready to do a Android head Joying seemed like the right choice based on what i read and the float mount (Airmount?); I can still argue FOR joying on many fronts but there are a few Key items that just drive me nuts.
They are trying to be too proprietary, i get it you want to offer a specific environment but i came here for Android and I want just that.
why are the bluetooth settings in the Phone app???? and why is it so hard to connect a device???
Why are the settings in general so custom????
Now what I do like and certainly want to retain is the DSP, but it would be nice if the Sub settings where part of the DSP as they should be.
Communication sucks with joying, that may be a bit of language barrier but that leads into my last issue:
terminology - I am not a stupid person but i can't figure out what specific information is truly needed when I start looking at upgrades.
I think the important information is that I have a 7 inch SC9853 with Android 8.1, correct me though because i want to understand this. What is GTX and PX5 in reference to? Sofia is the non-intel based units, right?
So what ROM should I be looking at? I want to upgrade my current unit to Android 9 but Joying has said it will not get 9 which sucks because I just bought it a year ago.
So my questions are:
-What Custom ROM do I need?
-Is there a custom ROM that is based on 9?
-Does a custom ROM retain the Same DSP functionality? The way I understand it is that the UI is specific to the physical Sound Processor chip on the board, is that true?.

In short (as so much has already been written about it):
your questions: There is no custom rom. question 2 & 3 are therefore not relevant.
Based on all licenses they must open their code as they are expanding on the Google system, but they don't. Try to get a loyer working on that in China. (This is for the system with all kind of custom hardware drivers. They do not have to open the source code for their apks). Note that this is FYT, not Joying. Joying is just a reseller of FYT hardware and software.
I do not know what GTX is. PX5 (PX3/PX30/PX5/PX6) are rockchip based units. The Sofia and Airmont SC9853i are Intel based units.
They close Bluetooth as they only want you to buy "their" hardware, e.g. the hardware suppliers they have contracts/arrangements with.
The settings are "so custom", because the unit IS custom. It contains a lot of hardware components and links to car hardware, you will never find in a phone. So that is not something you can blame them for, it is because an Android car head unit IS custom.
Google is in close cooperation with several car brands to make head units that ARE Android Auto. They now run in all kind of "unexpected" hardware "challenges", but they will succeed (google for it).
so then with that and based on what i see there isn't really much aftermarket support for any of these "Android" head units and they all mostly suck in their own way; you have to pick and choose the features you want the most and give up the rest...
so a head unit that just did Android Auto would be better than a on-board Android unit feature wise......
Hello,
Recently discovered these Chinese Head units like seicane and dasaita. I tried to pick one out on AliExpress and eBay but I am having trouble deciding how to select one. From my understanding there's three main options PX3 (oldest) PX5 (old) and PX6 (newest most expensive). In addition there seems to be some Intel processor versions as well but I do not know how new those are or how much developer support there is. Ideally I want a unit with good sound (DSP) and fast enough to run Waze, Spotify, Google Play Music, and Headunit reloaded. I plan to install it in an 8th gen civic (2006-2011). Which processor currently has the best developer support for custom ROMs because I would also want to wipe the factory ROM off of the device since I don't trust Chinese OS.. In addition what is the principal behind MCU / MTC versions? Is that how the device communicates with the cars computer?
Thank you!
Hi,
just now there is a sc9853i device (Joying) in my car that worries me every day...
I am looking for another one that can be tuned with custom roms like Malaysk AND has a 8" screen (universal device).
I saw the Bosion BX-P061 that could fit to my needs, but i have never heard something about that vendor.
If there is any experience about Bosion or that device, please tell me...
For example: I very often use my steering wheel, so the longpress option of my device before was a really win. Not possible with Joying devices. Also the main behaviour of that device (Xtrons PX5) was much better than the Joying i actually have. Unfortunately the devices have only 7" screens...
Thanks
Bommel
No such thing as a boison, joying or xtrons unit. They all resellers from various Chinese factories.
Ask the reseller to list the MCU type to find out who makes the unit. The MTCD/E/P units currently provide the most Shared knowledge and modified roms.
I am currently looking for a headunit for my ford transit, but I have trouble finding the perfect one, I have found a couple but uncertain if they're any good(see links).
I would like to be able to add 360 bird view.
Decent sound, will properly add an active subwoofer later on

Would be nice if someone to give some pointers for what to look for, or any pointers have to search for more good options.
Hallo, how about taking an excellent processor UIS7862 on the FYT platform, from manufacturers such as EKIY, preferably 6-8 GB of ram(T7 6G 128G-B, T7 8G 128G-B) , if you want 360 cameras, the function is optional for some types, you better write to the seller first. For Dab+, you have to buy an adapter and stick the antenna on the glass, or you can buy a hub for the existing antenna. It has 4.1 coaxial and optical output, so if you have this connection option, the subwoofer should work. Android auto is built in, but it's only by wire, but with such a powerful inclusion of AA I consider it unnecessary, but that's a matter of opinion. Internet wifi + 4g. You can find everything it can do on the device page, direct any questions to the seller:

Why FYT? It is an open system with the possibility of various adjustments and modifications, if you are just a basic user, then ignore the following information and leave the device as it is:

Hey thanks for the awesome reply, how do you see if a unit uses the UIS7862 Processor? since I cannot see that in the description.
Is there no with wireless android auto?
T7 should have UIS7862 FYT, if you want to be sure, write to the seller. As far as I know, the android car can do 5g wifi wirelessly, but I haven't found a suitable device for the Transit.
Okay thanks, the one you sent looks promising is the resolution nice? and I see it's only Android 10 and not 12, is that an issue for a head unit?
Blu-ray QLED 1280x720 is good, but everyone can have a different opinion. I don't see any problem with android 10, on the contrary they don't lie like other sellers who offer android 11 and it's fake, it's actually android 10.
My car has built in parking sensors from the factory, they work through Can-bus.
Would these work for the android headunit?
I don't know how they have a well-made canbus for the Transit, I recommend taking a photo of the cable harness and the connector you have in the car and writing a question and requirements to the seller. I can't advise you in this case.
Hey Pavel, I am a little confused isn't the T900 the same as the one you sent?
https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005004922549850.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.5ed24ae4XI0i9P&mp=1&gatewayAdapt=glo2deu
The T900 is from EKIY Autoradio Store and only 7 day delivery
EKIY has more stores, it should be the same, only it is under a different label and is photographed with a different launcher, choose the store that suits you better, especially check with the seller if it really has the UIS7862 FYT and if the power cable with canbus adapter, and if it also supports 360 cameras. You can install whatever launcher you want, you can find it here:

Okay thanks for all the feedback, The only thing I am missing is one with volume knob but I think I can forget about that
How's the sound quality from them? are they good enough or should I invest in a external DSP?
You can put an external volume control. The device has a DSP, there is a wide range of settings, the quality should be good, there are different opinions about the sound quality of these units, everyone has a different idea about the sound quality. Buying Chinese units is always risky, I am not a seller to guarantee that everything will work perfectly, such questions are unnecessary. You have to decide for yourself if you want to go for it.
