Hi folks, I have a OnePlus 6T A6013 coming from Amazon. I will be using it on the AT&T network to replace my old phone that won't work after their 3G sunset. I would like to install a custom recovery and get root access at a minimum. I may want to install a custom ROM if I don't like the stock one, but I won't know that until I use it, and I would have to be sure the ROM support AT&T's HD Voice.
I only have experience with Samsung phones thus far. What basics do I need to know to get me up to speed for modding this phone?

I am using Stock Android 11 on AT&T network and most of my calls are HD.

[Guide] OnePlus 6T [Fajita]: Unlock | Flash TWRP | Root | Nandroid & EFS Backup !! [Guide] OnePlus 6T [Fajita]: Unlock Bootloader | Flash TWRP | Root | Nandroid & EFS Backup !! This Guide will not work on the T-Mobile Carrier Locked Device as...

The USB port on the 6T was worn out, so I returned it and have a 7T on the way now.
I got two refurbished 7T's, one for my wife and one for me, and I've submitted the request to OnePlus to unlock them both. Any idea how long they take to do that?

1st I checked for any posts or threads for my question no results so here we go
I have 3x ls997 one bricked (100% my fault I did something stupid to brick it), one (my 1st one) santa rooted & custom rom (sim-unlocked) today I got 3rd one (again ls997 still full stock out of the box) as replacement for my bricked one. Thing is I want to sim-unlock the stock sprint rom as is out of the box by paying for the service. Tried androidsimunlock but they got me "unavalable unlock code" and refunded me (attached photo). Any suggestions will be welocmed. Phone is sprint bad esn but I live in Europe that's why I bought bad esn since it doesn't matter for international use once you got it unlocked somehow. Thank you for reading. :good:

that's what I did successfully on my 1 of 3 lg v20 the one I use for myself actually. the thing is after 2 months with us996 rom (used us996 original deodexed rom the original file from december not us996 .kdz which I tried and changes the modem therefore I loose all connections (no service)) the phone becomes more and more super slow. I mean really slow. I have zero to non apps installed. I don't even play games. Also not heavy user in all aspects. ALso there are no OTA you must download new custom rom every time and flash using the existing already twrp since santa rooted.
I love how stock sprint rom works. Fast, reliable, don't mind the bloatware. Also awesome to have hard reset working from the menu not only using fastboot commands. also OTA updates working is great because this phone is getting android 8 (yes a lot of time until that happened)

Ota will never work once you dirty santa. Have to patch the ota after it is dl or boot loop. But i understand wanting the rom to run faster. You may be able to flash a dif. Boot.img and get it to run quicker on us996. And yeah i wouldnt recommend restoring a ls997 with the us996 kdz.
You can SIM unlock your LS997 using Octoplus LG unlock.
It is up to you to decide will you do it by yourself or use help here's how it looks.
There are a lot of re-sellers also on eBay, for example this one
P.S.: As far as the problem is with the kernel and alot of system garbage for this device you'll get same lags in several months of usage of course even using stock Sprint FW...
I'm coming from Samsung and this is my first Xiaomi phone, so I need a quick reply to make sure I will not fry my motherboard.
I bought the 128GB Redmi Note 7 m1901f7g - Global Version and planning to root my phone to gain the access I need.
I was looking through the XDA and most threads are about the Lavender version and I'm not sure what that really is.
For example, will this work for my phone
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-7/how-to/one-redmi-note-7-unlock-bootloader-t3890751
if not, could you guide me to the correct thread, please? I'm away from the US and phones are 3 times the price in the country I'm in right now. I don't want to pay ridiculous amounts of taxes for a basic phone. I hope you get it (They charge $650 for this thing here, ridiculous!)
thanks!

You will not see so many variations of the same xiaomi phone like how samsung does, and those variation are codenamed based on their SoC
Lavender: xiaomi redmi note 7 (snapdragon 660)
Violet: xiaomi redmi note 7 pro (snapdragon 675)
If you want to mod your device the first step is to unlock the bootloader by requesting a permission from xiaomi (the official method) then install TWRP (a custom recovery). This is the only time consuming process. Once you get that everything else is done through twrp flashing magisk (the only root you need), flashing custom roms, even some mod and fix are flashable through twrp.
There a thread for unlocking the bootloader in [guide] section, or simply install "mi flash unlock" on your computer and follow the steps it provide.

ah I see, each chip-set has it's own "cute" name. Thank you!
These are the best 2 variants (the only safe ones) to root your cell phone.

Yea msmtool it will literally fix anything unless you fry something
I've been rooting/flashing roms for years and I thought it would be easy to do the same for OnePlus 6t (unlocked).
I've had so many problems trying to flash lineage OS 17.1. I've bricked it plenty of times. At one point, I think I may have accidentally flashed a stock T-Mobile only rom in an attempt to fix the phone. MsmDownloadTool for the unlocked version didn't work anymore ... It only worked for the T-Mobile version.
So now I have a functional T-Mobile OnePlus 6t ... but I'm Canadian so I don't have access to T-Mobile. I don't know how to undo this.
I'm in the verge of tears now. I've been up the last 2 days trying to fix this phone. I don't understand how this process is exceedingly more difficult compared to other OnePlus phones.
I've seen many guides online but I am now lost because I can't tell which guide is for T-Mobile and which guide is for the unlocked version. Any suggestions/Advice on how to get out of my current situation??

Use the guide for converting a t-mobile to international
Sent from my SM-N960U1 using Tapatalk
Solved. To those running into this thread, this was my solution on youtube:
(I can't post links yet because XDA requires at least 10 posts from a user to link sites. Just add this to the end of the url)

Sounds like you got it up and running. My Lineage Install Guide is for the 6T, (non TMobile). (I dont have a TMobile 6T to test with)
