I'm wondering what Version of Android, Fire OS 7.3.1.5 is built on. I have been installing Android APK on Fire HD 8 Plus, some work, some don't, but I'm hoping maybe choosing apps or backdates to apps that support this particular Android version will be more willing to work. I am trying to keep the Fire Offline so it's also annoying how the Apps I do get from the Kindle store have licenses that must be 'renewed' with internet connection.
PS if anyone knows where to get an Android APK of Tobuscus Adventures Wizards, it would be much help considering that the Mobile app is something I actually Received until it vanashed from all Android and Apple Store listings. #Robbed

Actually here you go!
I used the AIDA64 app to view the Android version.

PayPal have recently released an application for Android, yet they have bizarrely only released it in the US... preventing UK users from using it. Now, theoretically it is possible to ask a US residing friend to provide you with a copy of the APK... but this means the application won't appear in your 'My Downloads' list in the market, and therefore you won't automatically get updates etc.
There is a better way!
An application by the name of 'Market Enabler' is the answer. This application is designed to let people from countries that don't have the ability to purchase apps do so - it effectively makes your device think it's in the US, giving you access to the US market. By installing this, switching region, installing PayPal, switching region back and then uninstalling Market Enabler (if you desire), you end up with the PayPal app on your device and in your 'My Downloads' (as shown in this screen shot).

The downside? You need a rooted device
please note that this app have been pullout from us market.

I'm not sure why, but a while back, Google websites started using the antiquated UI on my device for no reason. If I use a non-chromium-based browser such as monument browser,I don't have this issue. Is there any fix for this?
I'm using a fire hd 8 2017 for reference.

Because the Amazon System WebView (com.amazon.webview.chromium) is useless and ugly Amazon's user agent. Uninstall or disable it.
You can switch to desktop user agent or install Android System WebView (com.google.android.webview) as a system app (root required)

Try it to use Firefox
In my shield pro 2019 there is no switch visible to allow the installation of apps of unknown sources.
I have developer options enabled already.
How can I install apps of unknown sources?
Can you just install filelinked? I've got most my apps using it
I'm late, but it is Settings - Device Preferences - Security & restrictions - Unknow sources
Sent from my Nord using XDA Labs
I've tried to use web download on the Analiti app by accessing apkpure and bringing up an app I have on other android devices. It will not download then I found that BlueMail and Filelinked are "not compatable" from Nvidia yet watched videos on YouTube that were made up to just a couple months ago showing this being done. The only thing I can think of is firmware upgrade 8.2.1 as of 11/16 is what is causing this. I'm wondering myself if there is a workaround or how to downgrade back to the last firmware if anyone has any input on this?
Looks like the Shield TV is locked down like chastity belt, going to be returning mine back to Best Buy. What a rip, considering Fire TV cube is half the price.
At least 8.2.2 installs from unknown sources fine.

Hello,
I am trying to update my Chinese Android headunit 10.1”. The specs were fake saying its android 10 but i have checked with some apps on playstore and its android 8.0. I have uploaded pictures. I have tried putting android 9 and 10 firmwares on usb but But my android headunit never detects update file i never get update option. In the settings update software and MCU options are grey out can’t be clicked. I will upload all details about headunit.

I have an android TV from Chinese company called Skyworth. It's presently running on android version 4.2.2. I want to upgrade it to latest android 12 (or whichever is the latest and easiest upgrade to do). The setting through 'About TV' and 'System upgrade' does not work and shows a message that 'system is already on latest version'. Screenshot from TV regarding technical specifications is attached. Please help.

My guess would be that you would have to get a custom firmware to install another version of android on it. Currently I have a Hisense android tv and it's on android 9 and I just successfully debloated it yesterday.
