I'm sorry if this has already been answered before, but I am wondering if anyone is also experiencing the call volume being too loud on LineageOS 18.1 (or any other version), and not being able to lower it when the volume meter shows it is at the bottom.
It's been annoying that I can't have more fine tuned control over my call volume, and I'm wondering if I can change this? I have my phone rooted with Magisk, so it is possible to install Xposed modules. I previously tried a GravityBox patch, but that did not fix it up at all.
Any ideas of what I can do here?
It's the first time I come across someone reporting loud in-call volume. Since you're rooted, reduce handset gains found in:
/system/vendor/etc/mixer_paths_*.xml
If it was 80, lower it by an even number until yousatisfy. Decreasing/Increasing should not exceed 10.

I'm on a rooted Nexus 6P running RR ROM, v5.7.4 20161008 angler. After a factory reset, clean ROM and Gapps install, and setting up my account and apps, I've noticed when I put someone on speaker when in a phone call, the volume at even the lowest level is too loud, and the caller will hear an echo of themselves. And on my end, their voice will intermittently cut out. Is there some way to modify a setting or a file on a rooted Nexus 6P to lower the speakerphone volume?
At the highest level, it is so loud it distorts and sounds terrible. So I think I just need to find a way to lower the in call handsfree or speakerphone volume overall.
I sure hope someone can help me with this as currently speakerphone is unusable, which means I can't safely be on a phone call while on the road. Any help that will allow me to resolve this is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I’m facing a strange and annoying problem on my Xperia X compact with LineageOS 14.1 / Android 7.1.1… During phone calls the volume is too loud even on minimum volume level. When I decrease the volume with the volumebuttons I see that it should lower the volume, but the volume remains the same. In other words, it doesn’t matter to adjust the volume level. It’s the case for both normal phone calls and also when I switch to speaker during a call.
It looks like the volumelevel for minimum and maximum are the same.
I’ve been searching in mixer_paths.xml (yes, I’ve rooted my phone), but there is too much info and I can’t find the right setting. Does anyone know what I should change, that there will be a difference between minimum and maximum volume level?
In build.prop I’ve added a command to add more steps to the volume slider. Now I’ve 14 steps in case of 6, but the minimum and maximum volume level are still the same so the steps doesn’t take any effect.
Other volume settings are ok btw.
Yes, right now it seems not to be possible to change the volume during phone calls which is very annoying. All you can currently do is setting the phone call volume in advance. Maybe one can have a look at OmniRom's settings (which have weekly builds but the terrible Google launcher and no built-in root) to work this out.
I tried the increase volume steps module, but if I don't put 100 volume steps, all my friends can hear my conversations, it's awkward af, especially because I've installed lineage on my gfs phone and for some reason her mic is loud af. The result is obvious, did anyone else have this problem and does anyone know a quickfix?
Hi there,
I did a fresh install of the latest Lineage 16 on my one plus 2. Everything's fine besides the call volume is way too loud and putting volume up and down has no effect at all. I've tried setting RX1-8 Digital Volume in /vendor/etc/mixer_path.xml from 84 to but this also had no effect. I wonder since I never read that the adjusting the volume doesn't work at all. On Lineage 15.1 everything was fine.
Does anybody have an idea?
I really like this phone. One issue that I do have is that the call volume is lower than I would like. Doesn't matter whether I am using the phone or bluetooth - same issue, I would like to boost the call volume.
I have used the Stock software, Resurrection Remix and Havoc - and the issue is present with each of those ROMs.
I have tried Viper4Android, and while that can increase the volume for other media, it doesn't seem to be able to increase the call volume.
I have also seen discussion for other moto devices, success in making changes to mixer_paths.xml (which in our phone is in vendor/etc/mixer_paths.xml), but I can't seem to identify the values that should be altered (it seems like the file is different than it was for other moto devices).
Any ideas or direction would be greatly appreciated.
