tab s6 lite sluggish - Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite Questions & Answers

Hello guys,
I bought last month this tablet for writing and school, but I notice that this tablet is really sluggish (even in home screen) for example youtube takes 3-4 second to rotate the screen (even my 2017 smartphone was faster)
Has somebody else experienced something similar? Are there some solutions? I don't use the tablet for gaming

From impossibly sluggish to a bit slow. Game changer.

Should I buy a S6?

So I guess some of you got a S6 by now so that is why I thought I should ask if you miss any of the features the Note 4 has or better put, what advantages you feel you got by running the S6 as a daily phone.

Aiiie!
You'd best get used to running around with a charger!
i tried the down-switch, it doesn't work. It's no faster than the Note 4, the pictures are no better, you can't save work to an sdCard and just carry the sdCard to whatever other machine you're using, you have to carry your entire phone and marry it to whatever other machine and that causes problems, you lose the S-pen and the big screen.... There's nothing there, trust me.
If you'd gone S6 first, you'd be fine but going backward, you. Will. Hate. It.
Trust me.
The very first time you find yourself looking for an outlet before noon and realizing you don't have your fast charger.....

I personally don't see the appeal. It looks nice, sure, but I don't think it's a huge step up from the Note 4. Plus, again personally, I bought the Note mainly for the big screen and the S-Pen, so I don't see me giving that up. But that's just me. If you feel the S6 would suit you better, then, by all means, go for it!

already on it
i have been using s6 edge and exynos note 4 for months here is my small review;
screen they are almost same for me.
camera both are even on daylight , at night s6 is better
with same apps and almost identical usage i get 3.5 hour sot on s6 , 6 hours on note 4
for me they are pretty much same on speed too whenever you check side by side app opening and browser speed etc. they are both faster than my s805 note edge.
general performance and stablity is abit different. note 4 is definetly more stable for me atleast you can know where it slows down( like camera to gallery switch and multitasking button) s6 is weird multitasking is totaly dead 1 app at a time, its slow on camera to gallery aswell but multitasking button is generally fast but it can slow down sometimes too.
ui looking is almost same also small differences here and there in addition to that there is themes.
finally, if you are s805 note 4 user maybe you can switch for abit better performance but other than that just go for note 5 or stick with note 4 if the size is ok for you.
Not sure why anyone with a Note 4 would want to upgrade to the S6. Still no AOSP for it, so you're doomed to slow Touchwiz so it will perform worse than a note 4 running AOSP. And like pointed out, who would want to give up the bigger screen ? That's probably the reason most people bought the Note 4 in the first place.
The s-pen, I never use myself, wouldnt care much about losing that though, but the screen would be a downgrade for me. And running Touchwiz of course too
Yeah i kind of agree... @gekkehenkie11 your support on cm12 is highly appreciated
no more samsung phone again.
they dont care about android updates.
I just swapped my S6 Edge (I use for 1 month) with my wife Note 4 Exynos.
The s6 E body is great and handy but screen is very small compare to Note 4.
S6 or S6 Edge + worth waiting? :fingers-crossed:
No not buy!! Bad battery!!!

Slow galaxy S7 edge Japanese model (SC-02H)

Hey everyone!
I am just wondering if this is just normal, I have a Japanese model of a galaxy s7 edge(SC-02H), and when I did a bootup speedtest comparison with my iphone 6, I noticed that my galaxy s7 edge is noticeably slower and iphone 6 booted up faster. I also noticed gaming sometimes in my galaxy s7 edge, it becomes sluggish and graphics may become choppy sometimes. But there is no problem operating the device overall, going thru the system UI is pretty smooth. Thanks for anyone who can help me with this problem
It depends on the game itself. Often times if the game developers are lazy, the game isn't well optimized on Android and they just use a direct port from iOS, the game may not run as well. Sometimes there are developers who properly make games, hence they'll have good performance. Boot up is relative depending on how you set the phone up and how many features are turned on and set to start on boot.

Thanks, but I did a complete factory reset of my galaxy s7 and did again a comparison with my iphone, however the galaxy still boot a little slower

That's also ok. It's due to the difference in the OS. iOS is a very simplified OS, compared to Android which is more complex in terms of structure and number of running processes. That also accounts for the differences in capabilities of the operating system. It has nothing to do with the phone being slow.
Think of it like in computers. Windows boots up slower than Macs. However Windows programs can do more things. A nice example is in gaming. Many games for Windows allow for third party modifications, like Fallout and Skyrim. Games for Macs aren't as open as that. Windows also are able to interface directly with Android devices. They show up as media devices under My Computer, while Macs can't do that.
It's similar to how Android allows several background processes to run. Hence it boots up slower due to it checking everything for requests for background processes.
Anyway, as I said, boot up speed seems irrelevant in a phone anyway. As long as it performs your needs and is good at doing it, then it's ok. For example, I need my phone to be able to do certain things that are so far impossible on an iPhone at this point. Hence, in my case, Androids are better for my use.

Isn't it odd that a current flagship device is beaten by a phone that was released 2 years ago, and I've also seen a youtube video comparing these 2 devices, and as expected the galaxy s7 booted up faster than the iphone 6. LOL
I guess I've been worrying too much about my phone LOL

I edited my previous response. As for odd, I don't think so. If I put Windows XP on a 2014 device, it will boot up faster than Windows 10 on a 2016 device. That's the same scenario in iPhone vs Android.

From S6 to S8. Is it worth the upgrade?

Hey guys.
I have the Galaxy S6 and I'm wondering if it is worth to upgrade from S6 to S8.
I've been using the S6 for quite some time, and now they launched Android Nougat (7.0) to the Galaxy S6, which I am currently using the official version.
But, I am wondering if I should upgrade to the Galaxy S8 (Non Plus) variant.
I'm in love with s8's screen.
If you can, please post a "reason" why I should or not be upgrading.
Thanks!

Better SOC, better graphics, better screen, more ram, more memory 64gb, sd card, better battery, better camera front and back, usb C, better performance overall......BUT if you didn't see all this already and you're still in doubt, might be that it doesn't worth the upgrade for you.
I did this. Battery almost 2x, Speed great, too.

As the title says I upgraded from the s6 edge and let me tell you it is worth the upgrade! :good:
Not least of all the S8 is waterproof, having paid £250 to repair a water damaged s6 edge last year i think its worth upgrading for this reason alone.
I like the fact the finger print scanner is on the back - it never made sense to me that it was on the front in the first place.
Face unlocker is fast to react.
And I am just chumping at the bit to get a DEX like dock (however at this point not willing to pay £110 for it).
Interesting comments.
I am really tempted into upgrading it. Since my S6 sometimes struggle when I'm scrolling on Chrome or Facebook, and I'm too far down.
I think it is time for that upgrade!
Is the battery really enough? I mean.. 3000 mAH on the S8.

Battery life has been a mixed bag for me - I'm not quite seeing as good a result as I've seen many post but it's likely due to varying conditions. It definitely gets better life than my S6 - I wouldn't make it to Noon with that and I start my day, off the charger at 430am. With the S8, I get through the entire day, no problem but might need a hit from the fast charger if I do some browsing after dinner...

Well you can upgrade but i recommend waiting for another phone with the same SOC...
My dad bought the S8 and is pretty meh...Narrow design, same screen as the s6 just bigger and slightly higher res which makes it looks strange...camera is the same as an S6 on good light conditions and slightly better on dark conditions...Figerprint positioning is absurd...Battery is not that good...SOC is newer but you wont notice any difference unless you try hard...And the price is way too high for whats is worth...
I dont want to start a new thread but i am wondering the same but i am coming from a oneplus one.. again is their any bonus in upgrading.. and how is development for samsung devices
i went from s6 edge + to s8. Very happy so far. the form factor fits better in the hand, software is fine. I like the back being glass. good feel overall.
A BIG YES. I upgrade from a s7 edge and to me it was so worth it
If you like the S6 and want to stay with Samsung, I'd say yes. Otherwise, I'd say wait until more info is available on the Google Pixel 2.
It's such a large upgrade from the S6 it's silly to even have to talk about all the reasons why. For comparison, the S8+ made the S7 Edge seem very dated. There is no comparison, unless you like old, slow phones with far inferior displays, memory size, camera..... I could go on. Not even in the same ballpark. By far the best phone made to date - S8/S8+. That changes every 6 months or so with a new phone taking the crown, but right now this is the top dog.
Agree, S8&S8+ are top-of-the-foodchain!
How are the lags on the S8? Because on the S6 when I'm scrolling in chrome or facebook I get lags. Usual android thing. That's what making me wonder if I should wait iphone 8 or get the galaxy s8. Btw, I don't plan going to Google Pixel 2 because I like the Samsung devices. I've always had Samsung phones. Tried Nexus once but I'm not a fan of stock android.
Upgraded today to the Grey/silver version from S6.
Ordered awesome spigen case too.
Role on Friday.

Zero lag in anything I have done on my S8+. Smoothest, fastest phone I have ever used.
I went from s6 Edge to S8. I think it's worth it. The battery is much better. Bigger screen, not as wide so easier to hold. It's pretty better all around. If you got nougat on your s6 then the software experience will not feel drastically different. Haven't really tested the camera head to head yet.

I have to disagree with you on a few points:
"far inferior displays" - Just because the S8 has a more futuristic look with its smaller bezels and increased height over the S6 I don't see it being fair to consider the S6 to be far inferior. The S6 featured an incredible screen at its time, and compared to alot of flagships out there it still is an amazing screen anno 2017! (pixeldensity is still better on the S6 vs the S8 by the way)
"memory size" - Just because the S8 features 1GB more, it does not mean that you actually use it. Just because it looks better on paper does not make it essential in daily usage. 4GB future proof? Yes! Absolutely necessary at this moment? Probably not.
"camera" - If you are talking about the front facing camera, then yes probably you are right. The rear camera however is only marginaly improved over the S6.
Don't get me wrong, I agree with you that the S8 beats the S6 in all of those points, but I think its actual difference in daily usage is to be argued whether the TS needs to upgrade or not
From S6 Edge to S8 is a perfect upgrade at all levels. I gave S6 to dad and I am using S8

S8 or the S7 Edge?

Hello everyone.
I'm looking for a new phone for myself and I've narrowed it down to the S7 Edge and the S8(Both exynos variants). I was wondering if anyone who has used both phones could decide for me. I can get the S7E for about $130 cheaper than I can get the S8. I like having a good camera(front and back both). I am, however, going to be keeping this phone for about 3-4 years since I'm a student and I'm looking to make this a one time investment till I graduate from university. Keeping that in mind, do you think I should get the S8 or the S7E? I don't mind paying a bit extra for the S8 but is it actually worth the extra $130? If I get an S7E, would it be able to last me till 3-4 years?
Thanks

what about between pixel vs s8
Pixel vs SG8
Pro : Camera
Pro/Con (depends on User) : Vanilla Android
Con :
Snapdragon 821 slower then the Exynos 8995 or the Snapdragon 835 (US Market)
Display of the Pixel just has 1920x1080 instead of 2,960 x 1,440.
Battery has a bit smaller Capacity with 2770 then the S8 with 3000.
Just to name a few differences.
But in the End it is your choice. (Price, Design etc)

Not many, as even though there is root, the root method has issues like battery not charging beyond 80%, also because of locked boot loader no custom kernels

I'm undecided between the S7 and the S8, so I can understand you.
I've read many reviews and I think I can say there isn't a night and day difference in real-life use between the two models.
The S8 has the following pros:
- 64GB memory
- 10nm processor, more efficient and less battery-consuming
- USB Type-C connector
- support for the QuickCharge 3.0 standard
- Bixby
- support for more LTE bands
- being the latest flagship model, it's very likely it will have Android P and another 4 years of security updates, while the S7 models will be stuck with Oreo and another couple of years of security updates, tops.
Generally speaking, I like the S7 better and I don't mind Bixby, the bigger screen or most of the things above mentioned, but I do think that a 64Gb memory, longer software support, support for USb Type-C may justify the price difference.

Had the Pixel before the S8 and everything beside the Screen and the Design were better with the Pixel...
Pixel is better until the S8 gets Android 8.0, I have the 1st Gen pixel and the S8. Oreo 8.0 is fantastic so I would go with the pixel and I believe it's only $400 now since the second Gen is out now

But if you buy snapdragon version you will not have custom rom and root (it's not working perfectly)
I sold my S7 edge to buy a S8. And the S8 is definetly better !
Not only the design of the S8 makes us think that the S7 edge is 10 years old, but the S8 is also better in every other aspect
And you must not forget that the S8 will have updates for 1 more year than S7 edge. It's something to consider

Imagine of having S9 port on S7 egde...

how it would be like getting s9 port on s7 edge....really...heaven on earth..
No thanks. I want an anti-social phone and I already have to disable too many apps to get it.
its like having golf 3 with v8 engine. its possible, but its still lying to yourself
Well.I wouldnt say that, how much faster do you think Exynos 9810 is? Aside benchmarks, in real life usage is almost the same.Any app opens instantly on s7 too anyway.
Furthermore, i've seen a camera comparison between s9+ and iphone x.The S9+ shots looked better overall but by a small margin, which means its just a little better than our s7 edge. " Camera reimagined" ohh yeah...
Pfft. The only reason I want to upgrade is due to this bloody pink line on my s7. Other than that I would stick with it. Its still a powerhouse for my usage and runs smooth still. Won't be paying for an s9 though, I'll go s8 with is almost identical to the s9 imo, but hopefully soon to be cheaper!
