Joying Spdif output resolution - Android Head-Units

Well I'm happy to report that this version of joying headunit with the new 1920x1080 screen usb output and built in coax/optical outputs are jitter free. But would really like the option to enable full resolution out of the coax output.
Does anyone know if you can enable other output resolutions?

What version, you might need to post Android version and MCU version.

Hi - what resolution did you measure on the spdif output?
Any chance you tried audio output via USB (and an OTG adapter)?

Duplicating video from a an android HU to an external monitor

I have installed a chinese Pumpkin Android head unit in my Toyota Previa van and after adding an external 3G router and connecting it via an ethernet adapter and an car roof antenna I am now extremely pleased. I get close to perfect streaming video on the road!
I would love to supplement the small Pumpkin display with a roof mounted flip down monitor so the back passengers can watch youtube on a decent size screen. There are many of those on the market, so that should be easy.
However, it turns out that the video output connector of the Pumpkin head unit is only connected to signal of the DVD player! And I stubbornly refuse to go back to juggling with silver disks.
I assume these Android head units coming from China are all very similar. Has anyone ever tried isolating the signal of the head unit's LCD screen and connecting it to an external monitor? If so, please let me know so I can install a monitor that just mirrors the head unit's display.
Regards,
Tinkerspy
I would also love to do this. My factory system output to the headrest screens for back passengers. Since I installed the Android head unit, everything works fine but only outputs to the rear screens if a DVD is inserted - I would love to just be able to duplicate whatever is on the screen so I can play YouTube, Netflix etc. on the rear screens.

Hi, Did you solve the problem?
thanks
I just haven't had time to look at it - been too busy. However, I didn't mention above that my yellow video RCA cables on the back of the unit were mis-labeled and my backup camera ended-up working with a different plug - so I will hopefully get some time to try out what the other RCA video plugs actually do next week when I free up a bit.
Any news about it?

I'd be really interested to hear if it was possible to output video from a source other than DVD to external monitors [emoji106]
Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk
I've found that some of these Android head-units output ALL video to external monitors and some only output DVD and/or Aux-In to external monitors.
For example, I purchased two GM-specific units - an Eonon GA9180A (MTCE-WWW) and a Hizpo (MTCE-XRC). The Eonon sends ALL video to the video-out jacks (OS launcher, DVD, navi, all apps, etc), but the Hizpo only sends DVD and Aux-in to the video-out jacks.
I know this doesn't help you since you already have the unit (unless you can still exchange/return it), but it may help others that are still in the "research" phase...
dragging this up again..
Does anyone know/think it's possible to pipe video to external monitors from sources other than DVD on these units???
Cheers

Mtcc rk3188 improving sound quality in h&k e46 system

Hi! I bought android unit for my e46 and Im happy with fact that i have android os, factory look and s/w controls. The only, but very disturbing downside of it is that it sounds absolutely s***. Now i know the best solution is to get pioneer and have good sq, but again I will loose all the advantages of android unit. I saw somewhere, that its possible to bypass mcu amp by putting dsp processor, but Im not exactly sure how is this supposed to work with stock harman kardon system. It does have its own amp I believe, but signal that goes out to it is actually amplified. If i use rca outputs of the unit and line them through dsp processor will I still need to amplify signal between dsp and hk? Another question is if anyone ever tried this solution to overcome this horrible sound quality or maybe someone knows better way to sort this out?

You might want to try a USB DAC (soundcard) connected to one of the usb cables, then feed it to a processor (EQ/fading etc.) via aux or optical and then amplify it somehow.
If the unit supports USB DAC, then i bet you will get the best audio possible.
I might try this on my intel joying on my e46 (not the HK speakers)
At least I will try if my USB DAC is supported.

I'm curious, which Intel joying model do you have? The one with no DVD slot and a non-working eject button?

Yes that one., BL121N2
Thats seems like a good plan as well. What i wonder thought if the signal to feed the hk amp wont be too low from dac or dsp processor. I think input into hk amp is high out from headu unit is that right?

Is the second informative screen possible?

Hi friends
Hi, Dear masters.
I have an MTCD KGL unit on my car. It is working on Malaysk rom. Everything is perfect but the head unit is too lower from my eye visible level. In this case, I want to make a second informative screen on my car's dashboard. But head unit's analog video out is only working when DVD player is active.
Is there any way to get android interface mirroring to another (tft LCD) screen via analog video out? Any hardware or MCU modification? Any other way?
Thank you so much
Maybe there's an app out there that will do this??

Not via rca. Maybe mirror to another android device using something like vnc, Teamviewer or similar over wifi.
I don't have any more android devices, I have only tft screen with analog video input.
up !
anyone to help?
Come on My brothers
I need to help
Any idea about hardware modification?
is mtcd device compatible with MHL/HDMI interface via USB port?

RK3188 or RK3368 chips don't have direct video output you must have to install a chip to convert the output signal of the RK3188 or RK3368 to video output (RCA) something like Rockchip RK1000-s.
Imposible: no, difficult: very.
maybe using a miracast dongle on a hdmi to analog video converter?

New Member - Semi-Audiophile Joying Headunit Setup

Hi all,
New member but long time observer.
I’m finally dipping my toe into the Android Headunit waters, and will use this as a log of what I get up to as well as the many questions I will have due to finding it quite difficult to source specific info on a good-sounding setup in my generation of VW Polo (6C).
My setup will initially entail a current VW-specific Joying HU running the intel chip, Android 8, and 4gb of ram, all the while using the supplied cabling to connect to the factory speaker and CANBUS looms.
I’ve chosen this HU because of its SPDIF output, and will eventually run it to a converter so I can output an optical signal to a Audison amplifier for the best possible signal.
From there I will use the amp to run a set of Morel front splits and rear coax.
I have a Focal sub, but another dedicated amp and enclosure will be required. So this will happen later.
So for now I’ll install the Morel splits and HU, and progress from there. .
My first question: whats the most responsive OBD2 transmitter that you would recommend to use with this HU?
And does anyone know what the new gen Joying HU RCA voltage is?
Cheers in advance!
From what I have read Joying is having issues with OBD2 on the new HU's. They are working on it and are going to come out with new firmware.
If you are using the SPDIF output then the voltage on the RCA doesn't matter, but it's pretty low. If you have even a somewhat ok amp then it won't matter much. Even crappy amps can handle low voltage from the RCA's.

Good to know re the firmware, but if it’s being fixed, then I’ll persist in finding a good OBD2 transmitter.
And yep, I’m aware the RCA’s won’t be used if I can use the SPDIF output, but I’m preparing just in case.
Hey all,
Does anyone know how to make the factory reverse camera work with the new Joying units?
Is it simply a case of splicing the cable from the rear camera and soldering on an RCA plug?
Cheers!

Dual zone Android units?

Is there a Android head unit that support dual zone video and audio?
I want to connect the unit to screen in the back to show video and hear radio in the front seat
Thank you
Most of the current units support that.
Video out on the back is what you need to look for.
Attention:
Most units with integrated DVD just only support it from the DVD/CD.
Other sources like SD/USB are not supported.
If you choose one without DVD, you are able to use SD/USB and internal storage.
i saw a joying unit the has a video in and a harness with a video plug, is that the output?
