Hey,
I played a bit with android screen resolution and DPI. I've changed the resolution to 1080×1920 and DPI 420.
Then I restarted the phone. I knew that some apps will not display correctly after this action so I didn't bother.
However after few weeks I realised that there is no Batter Life gain with lowering the resolution at all so I reverted back to stock: 1440×2560 and DPI 515 and restarted the phone.
I thought that apps will come back to normal but they didn't. I also tried the DPI of 560 + restart but no improvement inside apps at all.
I used the Terminal Emulator and commands "wm size" and "wm density" to perform all tasks.
Is there a way to get back to normal without flashing the stock ROM ?
Hi everyone!
I was planning on getting the Note 8, and wanted to see how the UI / stock apps handle a custom LCD density using ADB. So because the S+ is so close to the Note 8 in size, I thought this would be my best indication on how TW / SE handles a custom LCD density.
I find that the "Display Size" settings in Display dont shrink things down quite enough for me. To give you an idea, I set my OnePlus 3T's density to 289, from stock 480.
I wanted to know what the lowest number you could set the LCD density using the "adb shell wm density xxx" before the keyboard / chrome kick into "tablet mode" where it shows tabs and the keyboard changes to the strange tablet mode.
Could someone please change their LCD density real quick and show me a few screens of the dialer, settings, and random screens? I would greatly appreciate it!!!
You can just change the density at a granular level in the OS on the fly by enabling Developer Options and changing the Minimum Width value under the Drawing section. The higher the value, the smaller the the content on your display will be. I have mine set at 490 dp.
I used to play pubg fullscreen with notch which could be enabled on the settings page. Since the recent oxygen os update, i cant find the app pubg and some other on the fullscreen enable page under settings.
Now i play with the black status bar. Is there a fix?
Yes, but it requires Magisk.

Recently got my phone and upgraded to OOS11 on the spot. The 120Hz screen is an amazing experience but coming from the 7 pro, the experience just felt a lot more uniform on the 7 pro. I've tried both AutoHz and the adb method, but both methods seem not to prevent certain situations from causing a lower refresh rate. I recently downgraded from OOS11 to OOS10 to see if it was more stable, but it seems it solved some but brought up new issues (though overall OOS 10 is a bit more stable). Here are a few I can recall:
1. Screen rotation (both OOS 11 and OOS 10)
2. Typing on whatsapp with the keyboard up. It'll start off at 120Hz but sometimes, scrolling will revert to 60Hz, confirmed using the refresh rate counter. (OOS 11)
3. Google sheets, scrolling around on the spreadsheet with the keyboard up. Once the keyboard goes down, refresh rate reverts to 120 Hz (OOS 11)
4. Scrolling on some websites that include tables.
5. On the lockscreen - noticeable when pulling down the notification shade and scrolling / clearing notifications (OOS 10)
I just felt like I never really had to worry about any of this when I was on the 7 pro. Everything was smooth at 90Hz. On the 8 pro it's just jarring having most things at 120Hz then these small little things that detract from the performance. It's kind of driving me nuts
Hello everyone!
I am back with a tutorial that some of you may like and some of you may be confused. Well, it's about forcing 120Hz/Adaptive refresh rate while Power saving mode is on.
Video tutorial:
Steps:
1. Go to Settings. Then at Display, open Motion smoothness.
2. Set the screen refresh rate to "Standard" and tap on Apply.
3. Go back to Motion smoothness and select the "High"/"Adaptive" screen refresh rate, but do not tap on Apply. Do not go back!
4. Pull down the notification shade and find the quick toggle for Power saving mode.
5. Tap and hold on the icon.
6. Turn on Power saving mode on the new tab.
7. From the recent apps, switch to Motion smoothness.
8. Tap on Apply.
9. Now you can use Power saving mode with style.
I hope it was helpful!

I'll check if there are any alternative methods for One UI 4.0.

any update?
Use Galaxy MaxHz app for OneUI 4 and later. At least until A13 comes to my phone I can confirm it works on OneUI 4.1 (A12) on my Galaxy A52s. Power saving with style, baby!
