I was messing around with my wireless router today a D-Link DGL-4500. I had initially set it to mixed b/g/n because of my Wii; which I no longer have.
Today I decided to set it to N only. My laptop still worked fine but I noticed my DVP wouldn't even see it. I tried 5Ghtz and 2.4Ghtz and none worked.
I'm using WPA2 with AES encryption.
I think this was answered sometime ago. Dell never advertized 802.11n capability. In fact, I think a lot of smartphones are only 802.11b/g capable. Sorry to pop your bubble.

Thanks didn't know that. It's not a deal breaker for me. wifi barely works as it is on this phone without freezing.. By the way my HD2 and I think TP2(not too sure) both supported wireless N albeit draft version via reg edit.
gsmarena and phonearena specifications all state Dell venue pro support wireless N.

Unlike the whole 512MB scenario, I never saw the claims for wireless N capability on Microsoft's or Dell's site.

Have you been able to connect to an N only AP.

I was lucky to have one of the engineering models a few months ago. It could NOT connect to N. However, with the HD7 and Dell retail, I have been able to connect to WiFi using the N selection. I have since changed the AP to a mixed mode in hopes that the lags and locks maybe impacted by any of the various settings for N.
I've been searching for this a bit, but does the Nexus 4 have Wi-Fi Direct? Most places don't mention it, but there have been some places saying that it uses Wi-Fi direct in order to stream to the Miracast receivers.
Either way, I'm surprised just in general there really isn't much talk about Wi-Fi Direct. Speeds of 250 mb/s theoretically or w/e sounds a lot faster than what Bluetooth or anything else can do, but I really haven't heard about it at all other than what I go look up on my own. Sounded amazing when I first saw it with the Galaxy S, but I never saw it pick up at all.
As far as I understand it, WiFi direct is required for Miracast, so it must have it.
Sorry, I just posted this in Sprint's Note 3, but meant to post in Verizon's Note 3 (whom I have my service with).
I've read about people having Wi-Fi issues in all 4 carrier's Forums on the Note 3 (as well as International), Mostly to do with message saying your connection is unstable and then switches to 4G,etc; or if after unchecking auto network switch, simply having their wifi connection slow to a crawl.
MY QUESTION is, how many people out there with Note 3's, that are using Wi-Fi are NOT getting any messages or have noticed any issue's? I might add, have also used your phone with a public wifi network that is maybe not as strong as your home network
I haven't had any problems, whatsoever. I'm coming from a galaxy nexus on various versions of 4.3 though so anything is a major improvement in the wifi/signal department

Haven't had a single issue with the wifi on mine, reception is strong and tether is fine between my devices
Good question. If enough people have had no issues and don't see that message popping up, it sounds like there may be an issue with some subset of phones. Wondering if I should get a replacement..
Add me to the list of folks who haven't had any WiFi problems at all with my Note 3.
Long story short, I still have grandfathered unliimited data and just opted to finally put it to use and I got rid of ISP. So, now I'm just tethering 100% of the time...
I'm wondering which Wireless Card would be ideal to get the fastest speeds from the Wifi Tether. I just recently made a slightly uninformed, impulse decision and got the Bigfoot Killer N 1202 only because I read that they were being used in Alienware laptops so I figured that'd be the best, but it's not much, if any better.
I'm reading a lot of different things that say use 40 and 20 ghz or something to that nature, but as far as I know Wifi Tethering isn't capable of using 2 frequencies, so I'm not sure if there's anything I can do. Plus, I'm not very familiar with Wireless/Networking anyway, so any tips/help is welcome.
For what it's worth, I'm on Galaxy s4 using Hyperdrive 16.1

So, our phone get this right?
Yup

Getting it here in southern Nevada...
How are you already getting it if TMO had to push out an update for users on tmo phones?
Are u talking about the 600Mhz band? That's n71 and is supported by our phone.
They also use band n41, n260 and n261.
n260 and n261 may not be supported but that's not where TMobile has released their dedicated 5G (28GHz and 39Ghz both FR2).
I'm not currently on their new 600Mhz band but rather using their shared n2 band currently (1900Mhz) according to the cell mapper app.
Getting around 130Mbps on speed test so it's not too bad.
Also I'm on Metro but technically speaking same network.

SA connection requires provider approval I believe. So technically no we can't use it yet.
That being said again the op8 pro does have hw support for n71 sa which is the band TMO released for their dedicated network.

I'm on a 2025 AA since May and have had 5g the whole time. It has bands 71, 41 & 42 I believe. Been getting over 200 MBS at times.
Must be nice! I live in a suburb of PHX (8 miles from downtown) and get terrible coverage at home (4G + 5G)...so much for 1 tower covering hundreds of miles
I'm in bumf PA near the Amish so that's to tell u

Didn't think the 8 Pro could do proper SA? (only NSA)
Could be wrong but based on https://www.google.com/amp/s/m.gsmarena.com/oneplus_8_pro-ampp-9919.php
It does. Also since last year's McLaren did, I would be surprised ours wouldn't

I just wonder if it is going to require an update... As the TMobile branded 8 did.
TMobile can't push updates to unlocked phones so if required we won't be able to get it.
That being said they definitely seem to be the provider that's less stringent about allowing unlocked devices on the network so chances are much greater than on AT&T's network for instance.

Are you sure the update was for that. I believe the update just activated additional frequencies.

No, the update on the op8 from t mobile was to enable SA as well as a new security patch. I have op8 t mobile as well as 8 pro, can only get SA on op8 from t mobile right now and was only after installing that update. We will have to get an update on the 8 pro before we are able to use SA, hopefully the update is relatively soon.
Out of curiosity what are the performance delta between the 2?

Ah, ok. I haven't turned my tmo oneplus 8 on in a while. I have both as well and am curious if SA improves reception in my neighborhood. Guess I better turn it on and update it. Thanks for the info. I was unaware there was a new update.

The performance of SA n71 will be less than running n71 in NSA miss, simply because you're losing your LTE aggregation. However, without needing the midband LTE anchors, you can now connect to 5G on n71 in places where you couldn't before because either midband LTE was too weak of a signal or just didn't exist. Ping times for SA are lower on SA as well. If you want a direct comparison between LTE, NSA and SA, look at my other post https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=83222337&postcount=21.
Edit: This link also has some comparisons as well using Network Signal Guru https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=83222499&postcount=23.

Currently, t mobile is having phones still lock on to NSA by default. If you still have a useable midband LTE signal, chances are you'll lock on to NSA instead. You can manually force SA mode, although then you can't make or receive phone calls. Although that depends on where you are as well (I know someone in another market with t mobile op8 and if he forces SA, he's still able to receive calls just not make them).
Not sure if I'm the only one but this latest TMO update has messed up my 5g connection on my S20 Ultra. Whenever I go on WiFi for more than a few hours and then try to go back to 5g I won't get an internet connection and have to disable 5g (force an LTE connection) and enable it back on so that it's working again. This is annoying. If anyone has any suggestions or is experiencing the same issue please let me know!
Edit: Seems like I posted on the wrong forum (One Plus), but still wondering if this is a device issue or a network issue so I'll leave the post as is.

That's a bit odd, because I'm experiencing the same issue on my OnePlus 8 Pro.
Haven't found a fix yet, have you?
What is the baseband version you have on 5G SA builds?? I believe, it should be >= 2.0. Unfortunately on all OS 10 I saw only 1.0.c8 something, which most likely will not support Dynamic Spectrum Sharing, neither 5G StandAlone.
