Last night I looked down at my phone and it was boot looping. I removed the battery and then it was still boot looping. It won't even progress to the animation and sound, it stays at the black and white screen and repeats. I can get into recovery mode and download mode. I tried resetting to factory defaults but it appears to be unable to read from the internal SD. In Clockwork Recovery it says:

I have the Galaxy S I9000M. I didn't do anything abnormal yesterday. Last time I updated my rom was 2 months ago. I updated 4 apps and changed a contacts info yesterday...
I tried re-flashing to a factory ROM, but nothing is working. It always just boot-loops.
Any help is appreciated!
Nathan
If u ve not resolve yr problem by now, try removing yr sim n sdcard. Probably u ve to reformat yr sd if u can restart.
I have not been able to resolve my problem yet. When you say format, I need to reinstall the kernel? I hope I don't have to blank my phone.
why don`t you flash a stock rom with odin?
Are u saying yr phone still can't bootup?
I was trying to tell u to remove yr sim n sdcard to c if yr phone can bootup n if it does it could be due to yr sdcard problem n u may ve to format it.
Removed sim and sd and still cannot boot.

If u can go to download mode then take his advice and when u flash dun insert yr external sd. Hope this works for u "MERRY CHRISTMAS" to all.
I flashed with a stock rom and am still can't get past the boot screen. This really feels like a hardware issue.
Ok, I am now able to get into ClokworkMod Recovery.
On boot it says:
E:unknow volume for path [/data]
E:unknow volume for path [/data]
E:Unable process volume! Skipping...

I tried flashing with factory ROM, but that doesn't work either.

if you're on WW_user_2.22.40.54_20151120_16 then directly install .87 build of lollipop via adb.... it'll help..

Failed to mount /cache
My phone had 3rd party app crash. Like whats app. I got messages like
Google app stopped working.
Then after reboot of phone, it stuck on boot screen.
In my case
The access permission to folder /cache is revoked by system to avoid further data loss due to crash of OS.
drwxrwx--- system cache 2016-10-22 21:57 cache
I am currently on UL-ASUS_T00F-WW-2.21.40.30-user. Then what should I do ?

Suddenly my apps started closing in custom rom (montana rom) like contacts, camera etc.
So i tried to restarted my phone but it stuck on boot animation.
Then i tried to wipe and flash this rom again from TWRP 3.1 but it showed me error:-

Now i cant wipe, change file system, install and mount.
Here's other things i've tried:

PLEASE HELP ME...
I cant afford new phone this time.

FW + OS cannot be downloaded
Due to osme reason, i wanted to reset my phone. I first connected it with a usb cabel and transferred all my files(30 GB) to laptop. Then i went to settings and click on factory reset but nothing happened. After 2-3 mins the phone turned off. After that it turned on saying installing system image but boots into recovery (stock, since it is unmodified phone). HOwever when i hard reset it, it fails and bootloop. The following message is shown,
#fail to open recovery_cause (No such file or directory) #
