Good source for OP5 replacement battery? - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

I'm sure a lot of us have reached that point where we need to replace the OP5 battery. I bought one on Amazon and it was so bad that I went back to my factory battery. Before making that mistake again, I decided to open the question to the community. Can anyone here recommend a good OP5 battery?

I bought my battery at iFixit, I've had it in for about a month with no issues and they give you instructions as well to install it. https://www.ifixit.com/Store/Android/OnePlus-5-5T-Battery/IF330-018?o=2

Thanks for reviewing the IFIXIT battery. My battery life finally got so intolerable that I found this thread again, and bought that one.
I installed it last night. So far, so good. It looks like I'll be getting through the whole day without charging. It's already way better than the battery I bought on Amazon.
If I have any problems, I'll post an update here. Otherwise, you can assume it's still working well. Hope this helps someone.

One month later, and the ifixit battery (which I forgot to mention was made in 2021) still works great. It's like my OP5 is new again.

Ordered my Nexus One Today

I'm so excited I just ordered mine today, I also have a Cliq made my Motorola...I wouldn't advise anyone to buy one...Motorola can't even update the thing until 3 months later, it still has major issues...Can't answer calls, constantly droping calls and all that crapola Blur integrated with it..So I order my nexus today.. I feel like i just bought a Lexus....lol but I'm happy any comments on the phone? bugs? anything i should know when getting it? Because I did some research and haven't found anything crazy, seems google is keeping it updated and fixing everything it can on the spot.
Congrats, you're gonna' LOVE the phone.
I ordered mine on day one and haven't had any problems with it at all.
I installed 'Better Keyboard' because the only thing lacking, for me, on this phone was the keyboard.. although it's not THAT bad.
Over the past year I've had the Palm Pre, HTC Hero, iPhone 3Gs and the Nexus One.
The Nexus One is by FAR my favorite device.
Enjoy.
its the best phone ive ever had outta 13 devices by far.. you're gonna love it
Phone is fantastic.
Keyboard wise:
Install HTC IME (available on this forum) or Swype(also availbale on here). Both are free and far better then stock. Neither requires root or shouldnt.
So there isn't any lagging when using the nexus? Such as when you click a button it takes about 10 seconds for it to respond, or when you type fast it doesn't catch anything?
10 seconds? You gotta be kidding This monster doesn't know what lag is.
I've had my Nexus One for about a month already. I'm very very pleased.
I recommend reading this thread for tips and tricks http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=624033&highlight=tips+tricks
my Wifes cliq is such a piece of sh!t. U will LOVE the n1 congratz
Is it really necessary to start a whole new thread to tell us that you ordered a nexus? I know its exciting and all getting the phone but it's adds more clutter to the boards that isn't needed.

No seriously what is not needed is your remark. This is a board it thrives on the amount of posts/threads created.
wikipedia message boards/online communities and you will maybe gain some knowledge about how this kind of stuff works.
To the O.P you will love this phone. I went from iphone 3g to the g1, to palm pre, mytouch 3g to this and it is by far the best phone I have ever had the pleasure in dealing with.
Congratz on your exciting new phone...it fly's first class!
hey guys, for those who have got their new nexus one recently, can you tell me if the touchscreen of the new batch is behaving well? I had mine on the third day after it was released. it had the touchscreen problem. and now i have sent it back for a refund. however, i REALLY love this phone, and am considering ordering a new one again. so, here comes my concern.
Thanks in advance.

Yes I'll report back to you tommorrow when i get off work, I have to go pick it up from fed ex.. ...I feel like a kid that can't go to sleep because they are going to disney world....
Congrats...I took the plunge and ordered one today too.
In the UK, after import duty, import VAT and DHL's charge for the privilege of them submitting your N1 to customs (yeah they charge for that too!) the N1 costs ~£490 (~$760US) ...a little too steep for me!
I pre-ordered my HTC Desire 2 days ago from clove.co.uk for £430. Roll on April!

[Q] HTC Desire Z / G2 Battery

I just purchased a HTC Desire Z - Tmobile HD2 version of this phone. It came w/ out a battery. I bought a 50 dollar battery from tmobile but i found one else where that was WAY cheaper. The one i found cheaper is a 1750mah 3.7v , the one from tmobile that is OEM for the phone is a 3.7v 1300mah battery. The 1750 is thicker but fits fine.
My question is, does running a 3rd party battery (although this one is from a good brand at best buy mobile, but not oem) will it damage my phone. This phone is too nice to risk, so i thought i'd ask first.
If not im gonna return the tmobile battery.
Thanks!
Wtf? it came without battery? Have u checked with Htc or the place where u bought it if they maybe made a mistake? all phones comes with battery and i have never heard anyone that got a new phone without battery :S
Hmmm, suspect much?
I also find it hard to believe it should come without a battery. Is there a "whats included in the box" list on the side of the box?
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
okay, forgot to add, i bought this phone from someone who sold it because they lost the battery before even using it.
now that should clear things up....

okay, i have a friend, had a g2 - it went kaput within the first 2 days, tmobile sent him a new one, which comes without the battery. He was a tard and sent the whole phone battery and back back with the phone. so when he got the new g2 it had no back or battery, so he sold it to me and got a iphone 4.
but thanks for the useless nonsense of random posts all, i found a thread on battery that does not answer my questions but if i ask there im sure ill get a better response from them.
i guess knowing the backstory of how my phone didn't come with my phone is required to answer a technical questions, LOL.
i love you all
thanks anyways.

I'm pretty sure you can get both a new original battery and a new back for your phone through HTC... maybe on www.htcaccessorystore.com, through a HTC partner or on ebay

Sorry pal, i was just making sure you hadn't been scammed by a store as I was under the impression that it was bought brand new.
I've only used a generic/cheap battery in one of my old Nokias as a spare, it was the same spec as the original, and with a full charge lasted just as long as the original Nokia one. However the full charging capacity did start to deteriorate after 12 months or so, after 18 months I binned it. Can't complain for £7.50.
Let us know how you get on, I think a lot of people would be interested to know how much time you get out of it.
EDIt..... Check out the thread on batteries in the G2 section.

Anyway, I've been already refunded by Amazon including shipment to USA from Italy...this is what I call customer service! I think I'm gonna leave motoactv for a Garmin 620...I will miss the music feature but I can survive with my nano in my pocket...
This is the first time in my life that I hear a problem like this on the MotoACTV. I've owned two motoACTVs and sold a bunch of them, too.
There's never been any complaint or issue with them. I guess you are just unlucky this time.
But hey, don't let a bad experience prevent you from using this amazing device. It really is the best pre-"android wear" smartwatch. :good:

Headphone jack not working on Nougat

I recently bought an X compact after my beloved Z3C's screen broke and I had no luck finding a decent replacement. So far, I'm extremely impressed with the phone. I immediately upgraded to the UK Custom rom to enable the fingerprint sensor. I'm not sure if it happened before or after the update, but my headphone port isn't working correctly. The phone isn't detecting headphones being inserted at all, but if I use the SoundAbout app it works perfectly. I've tried searching the Sony threads but their answer is "We cannot duplicate this problem," which is crap considering the thread is full of 33 pages of complaints. Has anyone else come across this problem? It's got me pretty bummed out considering it's a brand new phone.
if it has warranty I suggest you go back to stock rom and replace the phone fast

Go through the dispute resolution process, if you're within the time to do so. If you're verified by PayPal then there is buyer protection. This isn't a warranty issue, it's a faulty equipment issue and you need to take it up with the seller/ebay/PayPal.
I'm a dingus. I bought a new non-handsfree cableset for my earbuds and it fixed everything. Works great and sounds fantastic. I'm quite impressed with the DAC on this little thing.

PH-1 losing 30-40% battery while powered off

I have discovered my PH-1 has an unusual problem. If the phone is powered off for a day or two it loses a substantial amount of battery. I found this out when I switched back to my S8+ while on a trip and when I went to switch back to the PH-1 it was down to 60 something percent battery when it was at 100 percent when I powered it down.
This is new behavior as it wasn't doing this when I got it.
Thinking it was a fluke I repeated the exercise a few times with the same result. I reached out to Essential support but because I purchased the phone used (off Swappa) they told me to pee up a rope after making me jump through hoops for week.
I tried a hard reset, re-applying the latest patch, and re-flashing the latest Pie via fastboot. Nothing has worked which makes me believe it is a hardware issue.
Just for laughs I powered up my Nexus 5X which has been powered off for months and it was still at 100% battery.
Anyone have anything I can try? I really like this phone but now can't trust it.
I guess as this is the second time I got burned buying a used phone (first Google and now Essential) I will stop using Swappa. The manufactures will not help so you are on your own when you have issues. I realize the manufactures aren't obligated to help second hand device owners but it still sucks when you have issues not of your own making and they blow you off.
That sucks.
Ideally the seller should have been open enough in the description and have explained that this problem exists. I don't know how it works with Swappa as I never used it, but on eBay you can try and work it out with the seller or even open a case saying the phone is faulty. Your best bet is to contact the person who you bought it from and ask if they have an original proof of purchase, or if they're willing for you to send the phone back for a full refund.
It really sounds to me like a battery issue which would be a definite cause for an RMA, I've not seen anyone mention this problem before though.
Sent from my PH-1 using XDA Labs
I'm not sure the seller knew of the problem as it wasn't behaving like this when I first received it. I'm not really blaming either the seller or Swappa. No OEM is going to help you out if you purchased second hand. It's a potential pitfall that purchasers need to be aware of. I was aware of it and still got burned.
I would really like to find a way to resurrect this phone as I loved it. But I won't buy another one. Short of trying to replace the battery I just have run out of things to try.
One thing to try would be to see if it does it with no user installed applications whatsoever.
I'd factory reset it and uninstall everything and see if you still get the drain.
Given that it seems to happen when the phone is off I doubt it's an application, but it doesn't seem like you have many other options.

Thanks but I've already went that route. I re-flashed that latest Pie image and didn't sign in or install anything. Same issue. I'm pretty sure the battery is toast.

OEM might help if the device is still in warranty and whoever you bought it from has the original purchase receipt. Or they have a system like OnePlus where all you need is a screenshot of the order, doesn't matter who owns the actual device.
I try to buy phones in new condition, or at least make sure there's some warranty left plus a purchase receipt of some kind.
Unfortunately changing the battery isn't an option, Essential Phone has no spare parts available so I doubt you'd be able to find one for replacement. Your best bet is to contact the buyer and try to get a proof or purchase off them, or just live with the issue. If you have the phone as a daily driver it won't bother you too much right? Do you feel like the phone drains battery quickly when it's on as well? What kind of Screen on Time do you get with it?

I don't know if I can still contact the seller or not. I can talk to someone at Swappa and find out. That actually is a good idea and worth trying. I haven't run the phone as a daily driver since I discovered the issue because of all the testing Essential made me do and my own experimentation. It does seem to drain more quickly but at this stage I can't be sure.
I may just use it as a very fast and expensive mp3 player.
I just thought I would update this thread. Thanks to CamoGeko I decided to pursue the Swappa angle and contacted them and asked them if they would contact the seller on my behalf which they have done. I made clear that I was not accusing the seller and was just hoping for his assistance. I have heard from the seller and he may have some documentation and is checking into it. It may or may not fly with Essential but it is the only avenue I have left so why not give it a go.
I'll update the thread again once I have more information.

I had the same issue with the battery drain after turn off the phone. In my case, I waited until the empty battery.
After 8 hours without battery I plug the phone to the charger and the issue was gone. In my case was after the security update 5 july in Android 8.1.

Wait 8 hours without battery. After that plug the phone to charger, it's the only trick
Thanks. I will give that a shot. I left it on overnight and it lost 30% of its charge sitting there doing nothing. No radios were turned on.

No. I haven't gotten that far yet. I'm trying to drain is completely. I'm not using the phone so it's taking longer than I would like. It's weird, it drops 20-30% overnight but doesn't seem to drain excessively while powered on.

Ok. I got it to drain completely and let it sit for about 15 hrs. Charging it now. I'll report back when I have some info. Thanks for the suggestion. Even if it doesn't work for me it was certainly worth trying.
