YT5760B/AC8259 vertical head unit issues - Android Head-Units

Hi guys,
I also bought a YT5760B/AC8259 unit (vertical) which came preloaded with XYAuto v.1.66, so there seem to be no need to upgrade, but I'm facing some issues that I would love to be able to solve somehow, so if someone have a hint/an advice about one of them please feel free to say
Issues:
a) Unit does not seem to turn off, even after 2 days, and it seems to drains my battery. It starts then right away when I turn the car and there is no boot time, but on motor stop, only the LCD screen seems to turn off
b) The unit is equipped with a LTE SIM card, which disconnects and reconnects every now and then irregularly. Vendor sent yet a new SIM card cable, will see...
c) A Phone conversation on the LTE SIM Card (not via bluetooth) does not go to Car Speakers, but instead stays on the head unit internal speaker...
d) I can't seem to customize the shortcut bar above the screen (marked with the red arrow on the picture), and that has nothing to do with the launcher which I changed
e) Has someone managed to root this unit ?
f) Does some have this unit installed in a Jeep Grand Cherokee? I can't seem to enable FCW (Front Collision Warning)
Thanks a lot in advance,
Nick

by the way if you disassemble the head unit you will be able to find 2nd sim slot in the head unit logic board and this sim support to work much better
haven't tested it yet but i guess it can solve your issue

Meanwhile, I received a new SIM holder cable and there is no more SIM disconnections

Any know how change the interface? Launcher ?

Do you have a dump of your firmware?
if not, make a dump using the program Flashtool
And send me a link to the firmware I'll try to fix the bugs

i have the same model
how did you managed to get the speed working? mine doesn't move

Following this thread closely as I have the same unit, don't like my launcher with the fixed icons that we can't replace at all.

Have this same head unit. Does anyone know if there is a way to:
A) disable the top and bottom nav bar banners?
B) access an adb shell to disable some bloat apps
C) if there is custom roms out there to replace the stock xyauto software
Thanks in advance for any help, the sopport team for this head unit sucks.

Hotaudio Model 2100: 2DIN 7" 1024x600 RK3066 Android 4.4.4

Hi Guys,
I've been searching but couldn't find info on this head unit. It looks like they upgraded the screen to 7" 1024x600 on an older dual core 1.6Ghz RK3066 to make a universal 2DIN unit. It seems to be a recently released model, looks like a nice unit for a good value.
Does anyone have this HU or know about it? Hotaudio seems to be the original manufacturer, is there a better known clone of this unit?
All I can find searching for "Hotaudio 2100" are some posts on a Russian forum:
https://www.drive2.ru/l/7069581/
https://www.drive2.ru/l/7031068/
They're on Aliexpress and Ebay:

Any info or ideas?
Hi. This Hotaudio RK3066 - 1024X600 HU is considered a HuiFei type, so check out the thread below for more info:

Here's another thread on this specific HA HU that could help too:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...in-s07-android-4-4-using-rk3066-root-t3155372
Also, below's a link to Malaysk's Custom Rk3066 - 1024X600 ROM Images that have worked well for me with this HU:

And here's a link the MCU images for BN-HA RK3066 / RK3188 specific models:

My opinion of this HA HU is that it's inexpensively made and not perfect. For example, I had to relocate the WiFi antenna out the back, as the factory location inside of the unit created a very weak signal. To clarify, moving the antenna lead out the back of the unit increased throughput up and down by at least 10x + on my unit. Moreover, my HA HU also has an input switching issue with my vehicle's factory amp that creates a single loud popping sound through the speakers when switching from music to radio inputs or when turning the vehicle off. That said, this issue was not present at all with a prior Winmark Android HU in the same vehicle. I even installed a RCA ground loop isolator - noise filter and made sure the ground was to chassis, but the input switching loud single popping sound is still a problem with this HU. I'm guessing it's an issue with how crudely this HU the switches power, which is unlike the soft power switch and volume ramp up of my last Android HU.
Another issue with many of these Android type head units including this one is the boot up time. It's at least 20-30 seconds, but you can set the HU shut down time delay up to two hours. Still, it's not equal to having an any time almost instant on HU like my last one.
All the above said, this HU is decent if you can find it for around $200 US, but I'd recommend going with something of higher quality if cost is not a big concern, or at the least look for one of these units or similar ones with the quad core RK3188 processor and good support.
Bottom line is that these units are inexpensively made IMHO, but they can be fun to work with; thanks to Malaysk and all the excellent XDA developers and contributors. Plus, I still have not found any higher quality brand names to date that run pure android, OBD2, and have as many other app options available.
Best to all,

Thanks a lot for your informative post rhacy.
My unit just came in and I was wondering if this was the WiFi antenna you relocated out the back?
There seems to be an adhesive copper antenna tab taped to the inside of the chassis near the screen at the front of the unit. If you route it out the back wouldn't it put the antenna further away from the seats where you'd want the stronger WiFi signal? Was the stock placement of your antenna the same way?
Your previous Winmark HU with the instant boot up time was a Windows CE unit with Android running in a VM, or was it pure Android? I've seen the option in xdAuto firmware for the Carpad HUs to set sleep delay for 1day, 2days so it will instantly boot as long you drive every few days. I wonder if we can do that on these HuiFei units somehow?
I've seen mention in the changelog of an adapter that addresses factory amp pop by introducing a delay before switching the input, at least during turn-on. Maybe using an adapter like this might address the issue?

Do you have Steering Wheel Controls working with your unit? Does your vehicle have resistive controls or canbus?
I'm going to hook mine up to power and test it out, will report any issues to this thread. Anyone who has one of these Hotaudio model 2100 please post your experience.
Hi rcll,
Your more than welcome and thank you for the heads up and link for an adapter that addresses factory amp pop by introducing a delay before switching the inputs, at least at amp turn on. Cheers!
Here's a link to one I found on ebay that looks like it may work in some instances:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/PAC-TR-4-Ca...gger-Module-/191226517960?hash=item2c85fd19c8
Moreover, I'll do some more research and try to find an adapter that can sense any input switch and soft switch the amp. Well... I will if the new Android HU I just purchased has the same single loud popping sound when switching inputs or turning off. The new HU is a Joying JY-UQ124 Quad Core RK3188 1024*600 16GB 2 DIN system. It was purchased because I missed having an actual volume knob and wanted to upgrade to a quad core as well as see if it would fix the loud single pop sound issue.
Please note that I have emailed Hotaudio multiple times over the last month or so about the loud single pop sound issue when switching audio inputs etc., and Summer has stated that they are working on the problem and will send me a fix if and when they figure it out.
Also, if it helps at all, the Hotaudio HU is installed currently in a 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Limited with the factory infinity amp, 6 speakers, and a Polk sub-woofer. It's a non CANbus and non SWC SUV. As I mentioned in my previous post, there were zero single loud popping noise issues with the Winmark Android HU that I installed in the Montero prior this HA HU. The Winmark has a gentle audio input switching and a nice soft volume ramp up on any input including the radio. It was listed as a Pure Android Single DIN HU with the pop out 7" 1024x600 display and it has worked well. I only replaced it because I did not like how far it stuck out of the dash even with the display in. Plus, the display had to pop out in order for me to see my reverse camera or access my nav apps and that got old real fast. Also, I was concerned that the display motor or its ribbon cable would fail eventually.
Here's a link to Winmark Pure Android 4.1 Single DIN HU:
http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Pure-Android-4-1-universal-1_60150935774.html
To clarify further, the Winmark Pure Android HU is instant on when using the android music player or radio, but it does take 10 seconds for the display to pop out and up. That said, I'm guessing that there must be a sleep or standby mode for the Mstar system that Rockchip does not deploy. Plus, I know for sure that the Mstar system does not need to boot up even when the Montero has sat for days or weeks without use.
In regard to the Hotaudio WiFi Antenna, yes, mine was in the exact same spot originally. However, mine did not come with an adhesive copper antenna tab at the end of the antenna lead on the side of the case. It was just soldered to the inside sidewall of case. Your unit may perform better with the copper tab, although, I think there will still be more interference due to the antenna lead being inside the case. On mine, the difference between the factory mounting location and the lead being routed out the back (through the rear mounting bracket hole and then attached to center upper rear housing screw) has been a massive improvement in both signal strength and throughput. If I was not pressed for time during the antenna fix, I would have taken pictures as well as mounted a RP-SMA Antenna on the back housing like the one in the link below.
2.4G 2.5dBI Wireless RP-SMA Antenna with Extension Cord Cheap hot sale
http://www.ebay.com/itm/171505160014?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
Further, I did ask Hotaudio for help with the ridiculously weak wifi signal and directly related low throughput issue, but they only suggested using a USB WiFi adapter instead of the internal WiFi radio. D'oh! And even then, there was no information on which adapter would work, or how to set it up, where to get the drivers, or where to get it. In turn, I pulled the HU, relocated the antenna lead, and tried to explain to them the poor factory antenna location problem. This was more than a month ago, so hopefully they are doing a better job on new units. Please note, my Winmark HU has the WiFi antenna routed out the back and it works great. Also, the forthcoming Joying HU routes the antenna out the back too, so hopefully it will work great as well. Anyway, if you're bench testing your HU prior to install, you can at least test the signal strength and throughput and compare it to your phone etc., and then decide if you need to reroute or not. Although, if you like to connect to home or work WiFi networks, I'd recommend relocating and upgrading the antenna.
Yikes... my apologies for type rambling...
Best to all,

Did you ever solve the popping sound before you switched to the Joying? This is my second HotAudio unit, my first one had a power issue. They sent me a new one at no cost, but this has the speaker popping as you described. My first one did not have this issue. And no word from Summer yet. I really don't want to go through the hassle of shipping this one back and waiting another 2 weeks for a new one. Frustrating.

Hi vdubskey,
No... I haven't solved the Hotaudio single loud popping sound when switching audio inputs or turning off yet. On an encouraging note, Summer sent me a link to new ROM and MCU images yesterday should fix the single loud audio popping sound. I'm guessing the fix is in updated MCU audio switching assembly code, but I've already installed the Joying HU and it's been working great for the most part. To clarify, out of the box the Joying HU has zero audio pop issues, decent WiFi throughput, and is obviously faster due to the quad core. The only issue with it so far is low mic volume and some background buzzing noise for the person on the receiving end of my Bluetooth paired phone calls. D'oh! There always seems to be some issue with these head units.
Anyway, if Summer has not sent you the download link to the New4_rk3066_h(20150831) ROM & MCU images yet, you can pm me for the link. Please note that I'm going to email Summer and will post the link and password here if she gives me permission to do so.

I also bought this model and with the latest files from Summer, I noticed that the input pop sounds went away : ). Super happy about that
It is too bad I have to stick with the files from HotAudio/Summer so I won't have the popping sounds. This also means I won't be able to install the Malaysk's current custom rom as you will hear the popping sounds

I have this same HU and it has been nothing short of perfect for me. Try and update the MCU to the new (20150831) HA file and then put in Malaysk's ROM. The popping sound should be MCU related not ROM so you shouldn't have any problems.
I personally haven't updated my MCU yet so I still have that popping sounds, only the ROM to Malaysk's Aug24-2015 and it's running flawless. I bearly notice the pop anyways.

Great news. She just sent me a link with a firmware date of 09/09/2015 so hopefully it fixes it. Yea I appreciate all the work Malaysk has done but all of the UI changes done are not to my taste. The stock firmware looks much better IMO. I just extract the stock firmware images and rebuild with the modded apps I use and use then flash and apply *#hct#root# to root and install xposed and get the same experience with the same look as stock. Works for me [emoji6]

Yup that's the firmware I downloaded, the 9/8/15 one. I upgraded to a quadcore SOM for this radio. I'll try the MCU image first and see if it solves my problem and then the UPDATE image if I need to. Should get these posted to the HuiFei file server as well. At least the MCU files anyways.

Thanks! Please let us know if the single loud audio pop goes away or not. Also, once you flash the MCU, could you post the MCU version number for the new RK3188 MCU from your Settings - about section?
Moreover, once I know the both the new HA RK3066 and RK3188 MCU version numbers, I'll see if I or someone can post them to the HuiFei and mega.nz file servers - ( https://mega.nz/#F!KMZnXTJC!zDFMlP4qgxEE6vQxt8rrrw ), or if you do, please let us know.
Thanks again.

The MCU that was included in the 3188 download is v2.73. And that is what my system already had prior. I am still getting the pop randomly when switching music and radio apps. Although I haven't got the pop on boot or shutdown yet except a very tiny one that might have been related to something else. I'll have to do some more testing.

Hey guys, I am a total noob when it comes to dealing with these android head units. I am wondering if anyone can tell me if there is any way to have music (I.e. Mp3, radio, or other sources) to play continually, or at least while I am in the Nav app. Riding in silence just to use the Nav is not cool....

Yikes! I updated to MCU 2.73 on my HA rk3066 about month ago and still had the single loud audio pop when switching inputs or turning off. Regardless, thanks for posting the MCU version. It's probably a waste of time, but I'll bench flash the MCU included with latest rk3066 ROM from Summer to see if it's newer than 2.73.

Try going into Settings > GPS and selecting Mixing. There, you can also adjust the volume settings between your music and gps voice directions. Please note that this GPS volume setting may not work if you're using a GPS app with text to speech street names.
Hope this helps...

Hey can you post the version number of the MCU that took the pop away. Also the firmware date? Is your unit a dual core or quadcore. Thanks.

Update: I went ahead and flashed the update.img after the MCU.img had no effect and it has resolved the speaker popping. So it turns out the even tho the MCU probably does handle the input switching, it must have been how the OS handled the execution. No facts to back that up but just my opinion. Now I have to mod this version all over again and setup my apps but oh well.

Thanks for posting that the latest Update Image from Summer at Hotaudio fixes the audio pop. I did bench load the included MCU for the HA rk3066. Unfortunately, it was version 2.60, so I knew it would not help. Thanks again for verifying the fix is the new firmware.

Another update: So the newest firmware fixes the pop when switching from radio to music and vice versa perfectly. Haven't had a pop yet. But I'm still getting a random pop here and there on ignition off. So I think I'm going to going to wire my DCDC-USB power supply in-between the unit and the battery so I can use the power off delay function to make sure my amp is powered off before the unit so I don't get the pop. Hopefully it works out.

Does anyone know how to get into recovery mode? This model doesn't have physical buttons but it still has the reset button. I tried going from maylask's to the original img. After flashing, it never booted successfully and now I'm stuck on the android logo screen. Any pointers ?

Just Bought. Erisin ES3015V 8" VW Android 5.1 Car DVD GPS Player

Hello All,
as the subject says I have just recieved my "Erisin ES3015V 8" VW Android 5.1 Car DVD GPS Player" just for information, if any one wants to know anything about it just ask, id be glad to share.
http://www.erisinwholesale.com/spec...v-8-vw-android-51-car-dvd-gps-player-466.html
First impressions, looks good, feels ok, every thing ive tested so far worked great, bluetooth, wifi connected to hotspot on phone, radio (great reception) navigation.
Its super fast and responsive, must go into sleep mode because its instant on when you push the button.
If you want any logs or screen shots, dumps etc you might have to tell me how to get them, as its my first android head unit so im still playing with all the settings etc.
Also trying to find a goods apps or things you can do with it as I love to tinker.
Kind Regards Guy
Hallo also bought the Erisin 3015GE and is instantly on after pressing the button. Hope it will not run the battery flat.
So far confident with the device.
Need to find out how the 3g connectivity works, there is no options in settings.
Just went out to see my batteries flat, need to figure this out.
I had the ACC dip switch on the back on when it should have been off, now the stanby and complete shut down work a treat.
Regards
Hi, I've also just bought one of these units but I'm thinking the display is questionable as the colours seem very washed out. Any chance you could take a photo of your unit on the home screen to compare?

My unit arrived with all 4 DIP switched on the off position, and so far I haven't had a flat battery and the unit powers off when the key is removed.
Can you guys give us a quick review of the unit, I am trying to see if I should buy this or another.
Also, is this bright enough to see in the daytime? Color accuracy?
I had some issues with the colours on the unit I received, and was offered to be sent a replacement main board to replace myself, or to return the unit for a replacement or refund. I opted for the refund and ended up getting a similar model from Joying.
The support were relatively helpful, although you had to wait a day for a reply due to the time differences between here and China. (I imagine that is the case for all the similarly priced manufacturers though)
From the limited use I gave the unit it seemed ok, the weather app on the main screen wouldn't update, I believe there is a firmware update available for it but Erisin don't seem to make the firmware publicly available. As I was returning it anyway I didn't look particularly far into this, so there is every possibility Erisin have a patch for it.

Hallo checksum
The brihtness of display is ok, The brightness settings are not possible to be dimmed enough for night use.
There is an icon to dimm the display completely which i use.
Need to figure out if i can link the display off function to some button.
Ale colours seems to be fine. Not tried any dvds, need to drive when I am in the car.
But can somebody share experience with FM reception ?
My reception is more poor (in central europe)
Connected to the oem antenna, and only strong signal stations are received well. Lower signals are terrible and i have falouts of stations and crossing of 2 signals. Or the station runs good and in few 100m comes to serious disturbtion of signal.
Oem radio was having absolutely perfect reception.
Anyone have other experience with fm ?
Does anyone knows how to connect the 3G dongle. Wanted to stream music from internet instead

Thank you.
¿¿??¿?¿?¿???
I just order this one. Is it still good? Thx
got mine since yesterday. very fast boot times under 20 seconds. quick response. iGo preinstalled on 8gb sd card. i dont found a volume changer for subwoofer pre-out. the forgot this definitly.
display is too bright in night-mode. you can only lower it a little bit. the good thing is that you can turn it completely off. maybe the thread starter found out how to map this to a hardware button?
good fm quality.
whats the code for changing the boot logo? is it 126?
Hey ho,
Code is 3368.

Probably stupid question, but how do i do this?
Thx
You need to enter factory settings in settings menu. Then it asks you for the code
Sent from my HUAWEI G7-L01 using XDA-Developers mobile app
I figured out how to power off the screen with a hardware button.
Enter factory settings with code 3368. Choose the buttons menu on top.
Choose the first option (not touch buttons)
Press the hardware key which u want to use.
I choosed the power button. Now you can choose for short press the screen off symbol and long press as power off.
Save it and you're done
I really like this headunit now ?

Is it possible to set the player to automatic start recording from the camera?
Does someone has experience with the DAB+ module for this unit? Is the radio reception better as for the FM radio?
---------- Post added at 12:14 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:10 AM ----------
How about the external Mic jack - if an external mic is connected, is the internal mic disabled or is it still working? Does this unit also require the BT hardware modification for the external mic to work properly?

I'm sure this varies, but I bought this unit a week or so ago, with MCU 1.63.1 and Kernel 3.0.101+. FM reception isn't great, but not horrible either. Have only driven in the city though. DAB+ reception is fine, although I don't really like the app and the antenna that came with the package is useless to me (looks like an antenna made for your desk, not a car). I'm in the process of finding a window antenna instead. Once I get that sorted and hopefully find a better dab app I'll be happy.

JY-UN138 - Joying 8" 2DIN Android 4.4.4

I ordered this from the CarJoying website.
https://www.carjoying.com/2-din-car...-bluetooth-dab-wifi-mirror-link-obd2-nfc.html
It took less than 1 week to arrive and it also had postage tracking details.
I installed this into my 2016 Toyota Fortuner (Australian model). Below you can see a picture of what the original head unit looks like. It's about 8-9 inches and I didn't want to install it using the original facia because there would be a very big gaping hole around the headunit. You can find 2Din facias on EBay and Aerpro webiste

I didn't want to cut up the original wiring harness on the car so I bought the following harness from the Car Joying website. 3 of the plugs were not required for my car and I had to re-wire SWC1 and SWC2 into the correct wires
https://www.carjoying.com/joying-ha...-radio-installation-wiring-harness-cable.html
I also used this 24pin plug for the reverse camera. The Toyota camera uses 5V (not 12v). I had to tap this into the reverse wire in the wiring harness I bought. Like I said earlier, I didn't want to touch the car harness.

I had to modify the original mounting brackets to remove the locating bumps so that it would fit the new head unit. I don't have pictures of what I did, but you can see the original mounting brackets here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/i9neetzctpu2h7p/IMG_20160618_134150.jpg?dl=0

Some items of note with this head unit.
1.) I initially had some issues with install apps from the Play store. Something error about "Cannot install to SDCard or internal memory". I used a paper clip to reset the unit and it seems to have fixed it.
2.) Wireless signal strength is weaker than my older 7" 2Din Android 4.4.4 headunit. My other car has one like this https://www.carjoying.com/2-din-car...th-and-gps-navigation-rotate-menu-hd-800.html and it seems to get faster download speeds and signal strength.
3.) The launcher cannot be changed. You're stuck with 2 options only
4.) The "factory settings password" is 3368 - None of the information documented here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Hui_Fei_Type#Factory_Settings_.22Passwords.22 is relevant to this new unit
5.) I much prefer the old menu system. If you watch here https://youtu.be/W-Q3qz0dgd0?t=377 you'll notice a separate app is launched to get to the headunit specific settings. In my other headunit, all these settings are embedded into the normal Android Settings App. This application has a lot of toggles for settings that have lost their translation from Chinese to English. None of toggles are documented so you'll find yourself switching stuff on/off trying to figure out what's changed.
6.) No root Unit can be rooted using Kingoroot. I used an older version but it worked
7.) All things aside, it's actually a very good head unit. I've only had it in for 1 day but it's done everything it's supposed to do
Here are some pictures of the system information

First post updated. I have root
Hi,
my Radio arrived yesterday.....
I've rooted the unit and installed Xposed (Youtube in background, Youtube Adaway, ....)
Everything is working good.
Now I am looking to install a custom Rom on it (DSA Rom)....lets see -> there is a problem with the MCU....its not compatible with the "other" Roms here on XDA
I found this website to have some useful info that is related to this unit
http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=738689&st=180
I used Chrome to auto-translate from Russian to English. It's not perfect, but it's good enough.
The videos here are also somewhat relavant
http://www.witson.com/en/introduce001.html?newsTypeID=100022485&newsType=Video F9XXX Android 4.4
Not sure of the ROMs/MCUs here are relevant, not willing to try yet

It seems i have the same mcu as you, my radio is a 10.1" screen single din.
Have you got a link that you used to root the device?
Im new to android and its all a bit foreign to me.
Ive just started a thread as i couldn't find any info on my unit and then i found your thread.
Things id like to change about my device is
- get rid of mute in reverse
- get rid of the car picture in reverse
- be able to play an apps (foxtel go) that says it won't play on a rooted device (if possible)
- increase the amount the screen can dim or be able to turn the screen off
does rooting allow you to change any of the above?
thanks

get rid of mute in reverse should be easy. Go to Settings and there is an option in there somewhere, I think it is Car Settings. There are options to Mute on reverse, or lower the volume, or just leave it regular. At least that is how my Joying works.
Not sure what you mean by get rid of car picture?

yeah that option is there but it doesn't change anything the mute still works.
unfortunately i can't post links until I'm above 10 posts, seems you can't upload pictures here without a link. But there is a diagram of a car when the reverse camera comes on, I've been able to get rid of the reversing guide lines but not the car picture.

If you're new to Android, I suggest you don't root it until you're familiar.
To answer your questions
1.) I've not tried, I like the music muted when I put it in reverse
2.) There is a setting in the Car Media Settings App. I'll find it and update this post
3.) I can't help you there, I don't have Foxtel Go.
4.) There is a Sleep functions in Settings->Display that will allow you to turn the screen off after X minutes of inactivity.

4) yeah I think the minimum is 3 minutes was hoping for something less.
To remove the car picture when you put it in reverse, launch the Car Media Settings app, press the 3rd button from the left on the bottom row of options. Enter 3368 as the password, set the setting "Car Radar" to off.

Thank you, joying actually responded with that today.
Also managed to get the volume working in reverse. There was two settings "reverse mute" or something like that had to be turned off and then there was a mute in reverse setting that had to be set high not low - reverse to what I thought.

Hope there will be some support for them in future
if anyone got a update please post it here
Does that mean, it is currently not possible to update this unit to 5.1.1 with Malaysk ROM? Just thought about ordering this one, but if it is not possible to upgrade to 5.1.1 then probably I will wait...
Also on the Joying page this unit is listed as "PX3 1.8GHz Cortex A9", while most (all?) other units are listed as "RK3188 1.6GHz Cortex A9". Is there a performance difference between these SoCs? What is your boot time with this unit?
Actually the performance is excellent, but indeed it's not upgradable with Android 5.1 now because of total different hardware, unit will die if u try what I have been told.
Official restore
Hello,
had some issues with the unit and seller send me new firmware
Check this and this video for update instructions
Thanks for that. Do you mind taking a picture of the Android version screen of you unit now that you have a different firmware?
Hi,
did you update the unit?
How can I update it? Via recovery?
I have some problems to boot in recovery mode :/
Best regards

PX5 FYT 4+32GB Head Unit from Joying - Improvements & Upgrades

Hi everyone,
Due to the lack of (and dispersed) information about these particular head units, here's a thread where we can discuss and help each other out to make the most of these units. Please note this thread is not for Sofia or MCDB/C/D/E units, there are ample threads about those. I am not a full-time software developer, so please do correct me if you think I'm wrong about something. Please do think twice before experimenting on your unit, no one else is responsible for it but yourself. I'm also dying for a custom ROM, if there's any dev making one for these, please know I'm availing my unit for experimentation. It is a powerful Unit which unfortunately is plagued by software problems which is why I believe a dev can make a better job than the manufacturer.
Also, special thanks to @surfer63 for his Joying Extra Tools (JET apk) which has been a critical tool for rooting, among other things.
I will be taking the unit out of the car and opening it up to install a heat sink and take some pictures of the insides, let me know if anyone's interested in close-ups of anything on the board.
{Reserved for Hardware}
The unit was advertised as compatible with BMW X5 and E39 (5series 1996-2001). My car is a 1997 520i with the low-end dashboard so that's the context I'll be speaking in. The unit shipped complete with adapter cables which connect to the original connectors for the radio, magnetic GPS antenna, external mic (more on the internal mic later), 2 USB ports which are permanently attached to the unit (as well as an sd card slot), a couple of flimsy brackets which screw in place of the original radio holder. However 2 screws which attach the unit to the brackets were not provided and i had to rummage around until i found 2 screws that fit. Unfortunately the original radio antenna cable on the car doesn't fit the unit, however the bundle of cables has an antenna plug with it, it's just a matter of replacing it (someday, as I don't really use radio at all).
The Unit is reporting to have an ARM64-v8a architecture and an rk30sdk board, 4GB RAM as well as 32GB of internal storage. External storage is detected almost immediately as well and I had no problems with files stored on a pendrive. The CPU tends to run hot, occasionally going beyond 80degrees Celcius, I therefore have a small fan and heatsink ordered which I will try to squeeze into the single-DIN box. Worth mentioning it has buttons and a knob on either side of the screen which are backlit and positively responsive. Regarding the in-built microphone, it "works" in theory, ie. it hears you if you tap on it, but it doesn't hear my voice even with the engine idling, let alone cruising down the autobahn. Fortunately it comes with an external mic, I'll hook it up when I pull it out for the fan job.
{Reserved for Software}
This is the latest ROM & MCU update from the manufacturer:
Android Version: 8.0.0
Build number: px5-userdebug 8.0.0 OPR5.170623.007 eng.bsp.20181107.190240 test-keys
System info: APP 1024x600 2018-11-23 08:48:14
MCU Version: 2018-11-23 16:12:28 JY_(R68*)__26_C26_CAN(All)
BT Version: BLINK_8723DS_RELEASE/2018:10:08:17:05:26
DigitalAmp Version: Unknown
CAN Version: Unknown
Serial Number: 00000000
I'm not going to give the Wifi Mac address for obvious reasons.
Cold boots are pretty quick, it's usually done in half a minute. It has a rudimentary "recovery" mode which is achieved by pressing the reset button with a needle 3 times, and after a pause, a countdown is shown under the boot logo, at which point one has to insert the SD card into the right hand slot. If it identifies the ROM on the SD card as equivalent or better, it starts flashing. If it doesn't recognise it, it does apparently nothing and leaves you with a black screen until you remove the SD card and boot it up again.
I have on several occasions attempted to flash TWRP recovery image as well on the unit, with no success.
Description of operation & issues:
Ever since the latest ROM Update, I've been having issues with the WiFi: despite the dozen wifi hotspots around the neighbourhood including my phone and home wifi, the unit doesn't "see" any until I completely reboot it.
The ROM provided by the manufacturer doesn't have a proper bluetooth menu. Despite being equipped with Bluetooth 4.0, as it stands for now, there is no proper bluetooth menu like you get on your phone/tablet/etc... a bluetooth app shortcut does open this menu but the menu doesn't offer any options or work at all except for the on/off toggle.
The CPU runs hot, it is a well known issue and I'm intending to install a heat sink and fan on it.
Several other settings menu items usually found on phones are also missing.
There buttons of course are lit up but the colour options are just 7. There is no way to choose your own colour and I don't know of any app that can do it on this particular model.
So I've opened up the unit and took some pictures before i stuck on a few small heatsinks on the FYT6026 bigger metal heatsink as well as a small fan. I've not taken pictures of what I've done, but you can all suppose how it's set up. It's pretty easy. I've got more closeups of the board for whoever wants to see them, just ask.
Hey @surfer63 or @gtxaspec @xxRaiyanxxYT do you know what the connector circled in red (4 pins) is for? It was not connected to anything in my unit. The other 2 are USB (5 pins) and the one on top (2pins) is microphone.
Sorry didnt upload for some reason.

What? No you didn't understand. I disconnected the plugs before i took the picture to get a clearer view of the board. The 2 plugs in the Blue circle are both for USB cables that go out from behind the unit, and the green one is for the external microphone which I also use. The one I don't know about is the one in the red circle. it was not connected to anything when I opened the unit and I'd like to know what it might be useful for.

I was thinking the same thing, I was going to hook the fan up to them but I needed to measure the voltages across those pins and my car is downstairs in the basement and I don't have a proper kit to power the it up on the bench. I would've made one but I was in a hurry yesterday. I need a whole day to mess around with it properly and find out what each part does but right now I'm working through the weekends until the end of the year. Until I get some time like that, I'm trying to gather some more info about it so I won't take it out for nothing (it's a ***** to install this unit back in the car).

I have the JY-HOS01P4
8.8" 4GB/32GB
No Hardware button at all. Not reset hole.. nada (Will make it easier to weatherproof.. )
Will at some point put a heatsink on it.. But being single DIN the room is limited...
So far I have only have it rooted and JET installed on it.
I do not think I will mess with the bootloader/custom ROM as it does pretty much what I want out of the box.
Testing different software now.
And the unit will be installed in my HD Roadglide.
So basically the sound output will be 2 fold:
Speakers driven by an external AMP so I can shut of sound by turn the amp off thru the settings
Bluetooth comms headset connected to a bluetooth transmitter taking it's input from RCA jacks
My requirements are the following:
Launcher: CarWebGuru
Radio -> will use stock app
MP3 -> Still testing players but for now I'm happy with google play music
GPS -> Osmand+ with data on SD card
Phone-> Android Auto + Headunit Reloaded (will finish testing and probably will buy.. Do not link ZLink.. even thought it works sort of ok) At this point I'm able to dial/see the phone on the radio and hear/talk with my BT headset
That is pretty much it.. Might attempt to put a DVR at some point...
I'll take a pic tonight of the board but aside from the location of that big capacitor (Mine is beside the wall of the radio) it is pretty much the same as yours.

I have not seen any issues.. Mind you I only have an internal network.. Still waiting for internet to be installed ^%@%#
I had to hotspot my phone for connectivity when needed but it is chewing my data!!!
I did all my downloads from work and brought the files/apk home to install.
What kind of issues are you seeing?
Which version of the latest do you have? the first 2018-11-7 or the 2nd 2018-11?
(I hate how the have they same file name.. Joying is pretty bad naming stuff...)
Hi,
I tested the header last night and got nothing. 0 power
Now, I have not had the time to play with the settings in the radio so I do not know if something would turn that on.
Cheers,
haven't tested it myself, but from my memory this red-circled connector has something to do with audio (either Ins or Outs).

I didn't realise they published the 2018-11. I downloaded the previous update, 2018-11-7. I think they published the second one after the first november update gave us issues and somehow forgot to put the full date on it. I'll try flashing that update at some point and see what happens.

Like all chinese sh...t, you need to open the HU and check all the flat cable.
Unplug and plug very gentle on motherboard and videooard (behind display).
Thanks a lot for your reply !
I already did that for flat cables byt it's not better. I will do that again to be sure.
It's really like the system search something. I changed the car model in MCU, i tried to unplug all option cable behide but nothing better. Do you think that could be a problem of MCU version?
And another thanks to take time to help me !!

Maybe you have problems on tension plugs(12 volts).
Try to understand if the issue come only on bad streets when the car is shaking.
