Camera overexposing and I can't run system update - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Guides, News, & Discu

(Verizon)
Hi all,
See title... I'm having trouble in that the camera is overexposing everything, video and still. When I pull up the camera app the subject in question is way too light with colors all washed out. Tried different filters to no avail.
So... I'm either missing something, didn't RTFM, or there really is a problem.
So I went to check for a system update. And I get this:
Service unavailable
The software update of this device is controlled by your organization.
I'm getting unhappier with this phone by degrees. Liked my Note 9 much better.
I could use some input about now... thanks
Rich

You must be signed in with an Office 365 account or a Google account from your organization, which applies custom policies to updates. You must ask your IT manager to review your organization policies since this has nothing to do with Samsung itself. Can I ask you which software version are you running and which security patches you have? The overexposure could easily be some misconfiguration, there's an option within camera settings that resets all to default: try that and disable scene optimizer after.

This is my own phone, set up on my Google account, no IT or Office is applicable. This showed up out of the blue, and I did nothing to cause it. I found the update issue when I checked it manually, figuring that maybe an update would fix it.

You could flash the latest firmware manually with Odin 3.14.4 from samfw.com
Then check to see if the issues persist or not, if yes I'd backup and factory reset, start from scratch, seems you've either installed an app that enables some enterprise level security features or something has bugged out
Before resetting, try removing your Samsung and Google accounts from the device from Settings > Accounts & Backup > Manage Accounts, then add them back again
And clear data/cache for the camera app from Settings > Apps > Scroll down to find Camera > Tap camera > Tap storage > Clear Data at the bottom

You can find the Firmware and Odin file HERE if you are going to take @*Detection* 's route by flashing the latest firmware.

Ah! Stupid me... had updates disabled with Package Disabler. Camera works fine in full manual so I'll probably (should) go that route. Firmware would be the last act of desperation but I surely do appreciate the help and the links. Thanks!

Sprint HTC snap firmware update.

Today my Sprint Snap 511 popped up a dialog that asked me if i wanted to accept or reject a new firmware update. I'm happy with how the phone has been performing, so i rejected the update pending some research.
anyone have an idea what this was? is it winmo 6.5? some sort of minor update? how do i even get back to that dialog if i want to accept the firmware update?
I have the same question. Noone knows anything?

Firmware Update for Sprint Snap--->DO NOT DO IT!
I installed it, and while the phone seemed to work well at first, it does one thing that will render your phone almost useless.
You can no longer change your default ringer, even to one of the pre-installed ringers.
In fact, I cannot even set the phone to vibrate.
HTC will tell you to do a hard reset but it will not fix the firmware problem.
So DO NOT INSTALL THE FIRMWARE UPDATE!
It is not a WM6.5 update.
I saw someone post in another forum that after they did the firmware update they could not change their ringer and they also could not receive text messages. They could send text messages though. I'm definitely going to wait.
Does anybody have any of the old firmware that they can upload? this new firmware is just ridiculous.
I agree with Dr. Gizmo. DO NOT download this new firmware.
I have been noticing something odd with my yahoo! email service on my Snap. I used to be able to attach multiple pictures into one email message. Now, I can no longer attach pictures in my email message. If I want to send an image via email, I have to locate the file in my album, then click 'send in email.' This is extremely frustrating, as I can only send one message with one attached file at a time.
I thought by doing a reset of the factory settings this would remedy the solution. I was wrong! After backing up my files and defaulting all of the settings, now my ringer is stuck at the default option. I can change it from silent, to work, to normal. However, I can make no changes to the actual ringer, ie "standard2, melody, drums, etc, etc."
I was half asleep when I pressed "accept" when prompted the firmware update. I wish I had pressed "Decline."
DO NOT accept the firmware updates.
Does anyone know a work around? Is there anyway we can reverse the firmware updates?
I have the same problem as all of you and I feel like an idiot for accepting the update when it popped up on my phone on March 24. I cannot change my wallpaper to a picture of my own or change the main ring tones. I called HTC support and they told me they sent NO firmeware updates out and that I should hard reset the phone. Do not hard reset the phone as this DOES NOT correct the problem...which really scares me because if a hard reset does not work then what the heck will.
Does anyone know if there is a way to disable the update or undo it?
Also, if HTC did not send out the update, it might have been an update that windows sent out and they are to blame. This needs to be addressed and fixed soon. By the way Sprint, please don't tell people to hard reset the phone...That DOES NOT fix this error.
Please help anyone

PirateTD,
You should be able to change your homescreen background image (wallpaper) from the menu at the bottom of the htc homescreen.
The ringer won't change from anywhere
SnapJoeSnap
Nope..changing wallpaper overall is not working.. try to change the wallpaper to one of your personal pics and it will say "Unable to set picture as Home screen wallpaper."
it will say this no matter what picture you try to change it to and this DID NOT start until the windows update.
If you go under settings and click on homescreen and then change it under where it says background image, it will change it but it will not change it to what you select. I have selected multiple different images under here and it either stays the same or changes it to something TOTALLY different from what you selected and i have no idea but it wont let you pick a wallpaper now.
Please try this everyone and let me know what it does to ypu
Anyone have any idea how to get the old ROM prior to the update and how to install in on the phone..
Any help would be appreciated

Funny thing, this win mobile is... I went through start>settings>home screen and I CAN change the picture setting to whatever I like (it does not give me the error) BUT the image displayed won't change. If I go back to settings>home I can see that the change stuck, but the picture won't change even thou it looks like the wallpaper is 'refreshing'. I was sure I could and did as I rechecked before posting and I would get the "error..." message from settings>homescreen but not from HTC Home sliding panel AND I saw the diff pic in the wallpaper.
EDIT: Wait just a minute... I can't insert files into emails!!! What the...???

Yes it would be. Can anyone help us guys out?
Sorry I can not help you with uninstalling the firmware update, but I can tell you this the update if from neither HTC nor Microsoft it is a Sprint Firmware update. The word is the update that has caused problems for our phone was released in part to put an end to the practice of using the phones data services on our laptops. As much as I do not agree as to how Sprint has handeled this I understand their reasons with some people taking advantage of this ability to hog bandwith with torrent downloads, watching movies... So if you are one of these people thank you very much and as a Sprint user I do not want to see Sprints service affected like ATT's with not being able to make calls because everyone is using their IPhones. Get your self an aircard!
Ok I have found a few work arounds to the main ringer and the home screen picture issue.
The first work around the Home Screen Picture - thanks to the update above and a locked registery the settings panel no longer works... But if you use the Picture and Video app (included with the phone) to set your home screen back ground picture. Just open the image you want to use with the app and with the use of the "menu" you can set your home screen image there.
The main ringer is a little different but along the same lines. Making this change requires something along the lines of a ringtome manager that allows you to change the main ringer in it, and the phone does not come with one. However I did a trial version of Photo Contact Pro that had this ability. Now I did not care for Photo Contact Pro after trying it out but still it allowed me to change the main ringer while I had it on my phone. Now I can no longer change my main ringer because I uninstalled the App but then because it was a trial version it did not cost me anything. So if you really need to change your ringer once here is an option, however if you are one of those who wants to change their ringer on a regular basis, you will then have to find an app that will allow you to did this or wait until a fix is released.
As far as an email issue someone wrote about here you will need to double check your email account settings. I had problems sending emails from my phone and found the auto settings were not correct for the smtp (out going mail) server and I had to set them manualy...
Sprint finally released an update to the Snap s511, you can find it on the website. It fixes all the problems that the bad update caused

12-11-14 Update

I have seen posts in other threads about the update and I feel that a post about the update in any of those threads would detract from that threads purpose. So I made one instead.
I 'm on Boost and the update itself is just under 25MB, and per the Apps list it appears that half of that went to the new Contacts app based on size (not sure if download was compressed or not). It took roughly 10 minutes to completely install and it slowed waaaaayyy down when it reached 70+% on "Phase 1." "Phase 2" was fairly quick. I couldn't get a picture of the screen but it is a plain black background with only white text denoting information and progress. "Phase 1" would slowly blink on and off during that installation cycle. I was on battery and it ate roughly 5-6% during the process.
Bloat: it's hardly there. All I noticed was the addition of adding your Yahoo account credentials to work with the new Contacts app (I'm assuming), and after removing it it does not appear in the Add an Account menu. The new Contacts and Data Collection Tool app (the two are most likely associated) cannot be removed, but can be disabled. Also, there are some new wallpapers, being "Magic Smoke" and "Music Visualization." I don't know what they look like since I have no need for them and disabled them too. There may be other additions that I have not caught. I really wish we have root to get rid of the Connections Optimizer. It re-enables itself after the update and is more aggressive in wanting to be used.
Battery life: I have seen an improvement in SOT with Data/Wi-Fi, but still have drainage while the phone is not in use/asleep. I have uninstalled my Battery app (Battery Solo Widget Pro) and disabled the Battery notification in Power Toggles (never set it to poll to begin with) to see if they could have been the culprit. For context I actively use Greenify and set it for all apps I don't need to be constantly running, and turn Data/Wi-Fi/etc . off when I am done using that feature and have location set to Battery Saving.
I don't know how many of youz guys have installed the update, but I'd be happy to help with any questions I can answer.
Battery settings detail is now showing up when it would force close previously. I'm going to assume they also may have fixed the WIFI cert issue some people where having.
I save most of the logcats logs if anyone wants to have a peak at those. OTA updates were provided via Redbend.
Won't update with a low battery
I just when to try the update to see if there is a resolution to the Wifi 802.1xEAP certificates bug and it downloaded very quickly. However, when I clicked OK to install, it came back and said the Battery was too low and to install later. Even with the phone plugged into the USB port! (Yes the battery was down to about 1/4). Fortunately it looks like it kept the download.
The only concern I have with this upgrade is the google security update. I'm just wondering if I'll be closing a hole needed to root this phone.

Good thing Sharp fixed the Battery detail bug. I can confirm that Sharp has not fixed the cert issue. jh2015 posted in the thread about the issue that Sharp told him/her that it will not be fixed.

Can't say I'm well versed in Android but when capturing the logcat file the only file name I could find after the download was
f_SG306SH_S8216toSG306SH_SA300.shdiff
the only two URLs I could find were
http://0946f61c52f05cb871ea-d87d123...47.r71.cf3.rackcdn.com/2640182142_dpD/APP_JNI

Could not access /cache/ or /fota/ after the download since there is not root access. I personally was unable to find or rewrite the download to a different location due to permissions.
Smart Contacts and Phone
The new smart contacts and phone app is very Lollipop. I wonder if this is an indication that the Aquos Crystal will get an 5.0 update, maybe no time soon, but in the future.
Chameleon become sharp.

I updated it the day it came out and I don't use the new bloatware added haven't used it. If you haven't noticed when you take a picture the shutter noise was always on or something like that. With the update the shutter noise can be turned off now, glad they fixed it.
Eh, great one, the shutter sound was pretty loud.
Edit: where you find the option?

I don't think there's an actual on/off option but if your phone is on vibrate or silent then you shouldn't hear the shutter sound.
Ting still working?
Has anyone on Ting using the Boost (white) version installed the update?
If so: (a) Is everything still working on Ting? (b) Is Spark LTE still working on Ting?

[FIXED] Push Notifications Not Reliable on the S8/Nougat

Upgrading from the S5, Chrome Push Notifications were almost always instantaneous, and I never once missed a notification. On the S8, many are delayed and I miss a huge number of them, mostly when my phone is "off" (eg, in my pocket). Anyone else experiencing this, or know how I can fix it? The only thing that has changed is the phone, so it's definitely something with the S8 (or possibly the kernel version running on it). Seems to happen on both wifi and cellular network. I need these notifications, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Update: Here is how to fix the issue of not getting notifications for an application on the Samsung S8, or probably any Nougat device:
Go to Settings -> Apps
Click the : Menu in top right, select -> [Special Access]
Select > Optimize Battery Usage ->
Click the dropdown menu towards the top of the screen that says: "Apps not optimized [v]" -> change to [All Apps]
Add any application you want to get notifications for without delay, all the time. Eg, Chrome, Gmail, Facebook, etc.
Hopefully Google will fix the overzealous battery optimizations soon so we don't have to do this!
Oh boy. I love the phone, but something in the RAM and Battery optimization is killing all background apps, including your Chrome. Drives me nuts, every time I switch between apps and return to previous, its restarted, which means forgots to where I was. Very annoying when reading news, Facebook etc. Seems like there is no fix for it at the moment.
Excluding apps from battery optimization doesn't help at all. Everyone think is Nougat problem, but my S7 edge didn't have the same issue.
I thought I'm the only one with delayed notification issue. I tested the gmail notification on my s8+. The phone was in standby mode on my pocket and I sent the email from another account. No notification until 4 minutes later. With my other phone notifications are instant. I have issues with other app notification as well. The forums apps will not even notify me anymore if someone responded to my post.
It is definitely related to some overly aggressive battery/cpu/ram optimizations on this phone. I also have seen weirdness in other apps, like you guys mentioned. However, one exception is AquaMail, which when I set it back up on this phone during install, it explicitly asked me to click a thing that took me to some deep setting that allowed me to excluded AquaMail from some battery or some other optimization. I don't remember, unfortunately, because I was just trying to get my phone setup, and didn't think it'd be such a widespread issue. I'll try to dig around and see if it still shows a way to get back to that setting, or if there is a way to add other apps while IN that page.
I also have the battery optimization thing to "Off" and it's not monitoring apps (so it says). In developer settings, there's a background apps setting, default is "standard limit", whatever that means, but the largest choice is 4, which seems really small...
This is definitely frustrating, I love the hardware side of this phone, it's amazing, but the software/OS execution seems like a huge miss, almost like it went completely untested live. Hope either they fix these issues soon, or someone figures a way to do so.
The interesting part is that I have too under Battery: Power saving modeto OFF, but that doesn't stop the phone still to put apps to sleep. An hour ago I had a notification that 13 aps will be pit to sleep, even that I have power saving mode to off.
It is very annoying: if I have clicked form something(web page or Facebook, Upday etc) to a link and start reading, but in the mean time I have a message and open it to respond, when I am back to the first app with the open link, it gets reloded to the original page as I have never clicked on the link. Facebook is very good example.
I can't even seem to figure out how to get to a RAM usage screen in settings at all on this phone. I'm curious if it's something sucking down all the RAM causing apps to swap on/off, or it is just an aggressive optimization setting somewhere.
Sounds to me like a Nougat issue rather than anyhting to do with this phone. This is exactly the sort of thing that has worried me constantly since i first heard about this kind of battery saving feature they decided to implement in Nougat.
Have any of you been using Nougat on your previous device without having this issue? If not then I would say it is probably Nougat causing it.
I have similar with bluemail where sometimes it doesnt notify me of hotmail emails very quickly but i put that down to bluemail being a bit slow sometimes since it did it on my S5 too.
This is my first experience with Nougat. stoyank said his S7 on Nougat did not have this issue, fwiw.
I'll take reliable apps over better battery any day of the week. This is pretty ridiculous, and even more so since there doesn't appear to be a way to fix/turn it off!
Update:
Found the settings page:
Settings -> Apps -> : Menu : Special Access -> Optimize Battery Usage -> Apps not optimized [v] -> All Apps
On this page almost everything is listed as "on". I scrolled through, turned Chrome, Chrome Device Library, and Google Services Framework OFF. No idea if this will help, but hopefully it will.
Will let you guys know later today if I missed any more updates. There might be another service needs turned off on this page that I missed. If you're missing updates in one of your apps, try turning that off in this page, and see if it helps. I'm guessing and hoping it does work, because AquaMail was one of the few things listed here as Off (from my config thing I did when I setup the phone) and it always receives emails instantly through push.
Update 2: My wife's S7 apparently has this same issue since it updated. She often doesn't receive facebook notifications since it updated her phone to nougat. She just assumed it was the facebook app that was bugged. Yikes! Not sure how this hasn't become a bigger issue, surely there are tons of people that need reliable push notifications for various apps. Hopefully my fix above works as a band-aid until a broader fix is implemented.
My Galaxy s7 edge was updated to Nougat for good few months before I got the S8. However I have not experienced similar issues. Most of the apps did not need to reload every time I switch between them. I am not bothered about getting an email a couple of minutes late, but browsing news, or wifi streaming music to an external player is non usable at the moment. It looses conection, reload pages, every time I scroll down on Facebook and swithch between apps, it seems as it goes back to the top of the news feed, loosing where I left it.
A week ago I was watching on YouTube a comparison between iPhone, S8, pixel and some other crap, and surprisingly on a speed test and re-opening the already open apps, the Galaxy S8 came as last as it seems that needed to reload all apps again. You can imagine the shock I had, since I don't like iPhone, but it came first, nearly twice faster.
Need a fix soon, as I already give my Galaxy S7 edge to the wife. Can't get it back.

Try my suggestion in the post above yours, see if that helps. So far, I haven't missed any notifications, but it's too soon to tell, and I haven't had my phone in my pocket, but on my desk.
I know you can cherry pick some apps and exclude them from being monitored, and power optimised. However, not all apps are listed under "+add apps" for example Chrome, Upday, Facebook and many more.

No problem. It was in a weird spot. Seems to be working great so far, I'm back to instant notifications, something that wasn't happening before. Will give it a few days til I call the all clear.
Still annoying we have to do this at all. Hope Google gets it fixed. I saw people complaining about it back in August, so I'm not too hopeful of anything immediate.
I would say my fix works. I have received every notification in a timely manner. Updating the first post to reflect this.
I resolved my gmail not in push mail mode by simply removing the re-adding the accounts.
I did that on Google Inbox app as I have issues getting any email notifications. Still not receiving any!
I deleted the app, deleted cache, put it as priority, removed from optimize battery list, everything! Still no notifications for email via Inbox! WTF
Posting just to say I already have made sure gmail isn't being put to sleep but I'm also not getting mail notifications reliably on my S8+. Missed work emails on more than a few occasions by hours because of this.
Ok I was able to fix it finally by: Deleting Google Account and re-adding again.
Email (Inbox app) notification work now

Thanks Adam, in your opinion do you still think that the beta version (7.8.7.24 beta) is better than this new stable version?

Excuse me Adam if I ask in this discussion, do you have news about the possibility that one day Oreo comes out for Meizu pro 6 plus?
Or do you already know that it will never come out?

Hello Adam,
I have installed this version and I have several issues, hope you can help me:
1. I can't install apps from Google play store while using cellular connection, only with wi-fi. I granted permission to use the data to the play store.
2. All of my purchased apps from Google are not recognized by the app and state that I have to buy the premium version.
3. My contacts in the Google account can't be synced (other info of google is synced)
When I installed this ROM I cleared the data
Thanks

After installation of google services via google installer, you need to allow all permissions of google apps names starting google in settings.Only open playstore after it.Uninstall services and do install again.Hope you got what i said.
Hi Adam!
I'm confused a bit about which ROM should I use. Currently I'm on stock 7.0.1.0G.
If I'm willing to upgrade which one should I use. There are quite a few options such as: 7.2.0.0A, 7.8.7.16G, 7.8.7.24A or even 7.8.8.9A.
I can't find a out whats are the differences. For sure all of them are Nougat based. but then...
Could you please guide me which one to pick?!
Thanks!
I need the original build.prop of the rom Flyme 7.2.0.0A Stable Final. I made many changes without a proper backup. If anyone can send me a copy, thank you.

Choose latest 7.2.0.0 A if your concern is about getting more stability and security patches.
Choose latest beta A if you want slight more battery backup.

I have some issue with 7.2.0.0A. I already installed it. But when I try to login into flyme account I get a message that I'm still loged in with another account and I have to logout with that first. I bought my Phone 2nd hand and the seller told me he removed this phone from his account.
The interesting thing that if I use the 7.0.1.0G than I can login with my own without any problem.
I'm still negotiating with the seller how could és solve this.
Do you have any idea how could I overcome this issue if I can't manage IT with the seller?
Thanks!

Login on flyme account using computer and change the password there. Once password changed you have to login everywhere again since all active sessions gone out.
Is there any way to install a altered ROM on this phone? If I add or delete anything from the official ROM then it states it is corrupt.
Or is it possible to install TWRP on it? I think with that maybe its possible to install some tweaked ROM.
Thanks

apparently there is no custom rom, twrp, xposed. what I recommend is to enable root and delete apps and system folders. I did and I gained more ram and less use of the processor in the background. and longer battery life
Using Google Translate

Android 10 GPS issue

Hi there,
Since the official update to android 10 the GPS of my Oneplus 6T is not working anymore.
Whichever app I use (Google maps, Uber, citymapper...) the location won't update itself. It seems like the app won't ask the system for the location ?
I've tried clearing the cache of various location related system app, rebooting. I even tried an app mocking the location but even this won't update the position in Google maps...
I've seen a couple of thread of people with the same issue but all they recommend is factory resetting the phone which I don't really want to do.
Has anyone managed to solve this ?
I had this for a while. Nothing will fix it. Have to wipe completely then update to android 10, root, etc. will fix

Same here!
I think it's a good idea to have a dedicated thread for this as it doesn't seem to affect everyone but let's document this a bit more effectively. I've taken the liberty of grabbing a log here and by swiftly browsing through the file, I found this one particularly interesting:
Code:
01-07 12:00:57.917 3951 3951 I LocationEnabler: Location mode has been changed
This 'LocationEnabler' only occurs twice in the entire log, two milliseconds apart. Before this line 'WifiService' is throwing massive amounts of errors and just 407ms before the 'LocationEnabler' line above, this one drops:
Code:
01-07 12:00:57.510 1135 2912 I WifiService: acquireWifiLock uid=10042 lockMode=2
After that, only 6 of the following 35 'WifiService' instances are errors. I think that could indicate the GPS issue is related to the accompanying Wifi lock. I tried turning off Wifi scanning (and rebooting, naturally) but that didn't seem to change anything. Perhaps I should grab another log now.
My actions during this log:
Launch Google Maps
Notice it doesn't get a fix on my location (while in the past this used to happen instantly)
Tap hamburger menu top left, then Settings
Tap 'Google location settings'
Leave that sitting there for a few seconds
Return to Google Maps and GPS is now "fixed" (for a short while)
This is a workaround I've read in the stable discussion thread but is of course no solution.
Tagging @Funk Wizard as he's probably the only one I know that can do something with this log (or at least take it to the right people). I hope this helps!
Did someone try to factory reset using msmtool (version 10)? I m on android 10 and i have no problem

Flashing clean is very likely a valid solution to this problem but I'd like to get to the root of this issue so OP doesn't need to make the same mistake twice. Or at least have no excuse for it next time
Apart from that I have a very smooth system now with excellent battery performance (maybe because GPS is failing, lol) so if I could solve the only problem I have without any data loss, that would be awesome.
And this is XDA developers. We just need to know, right?
Just a reminder make sure and have location setting to have access all the time..
Just going out of that app temporarily to do something else real quiçk could possibly stop the connection. Could help possibly... I myself have no issues.. I will add more to this as we get further into the Android 10 madness. Lol...
@TENlll423 Android 10 madness, say that again! I have indeed set this setting to 'allow all the time' but even if it were set to 'allow only while using the app', it should at least get a fix on the location when Maps is running.
I've now made a second log with Wi-Fi scanning turned off, see full log here. Notable events:
11:22:00 - opened Google location settings (which activates GPS somehow)
11:22:10 - closed them (back to Maps)
11:23:26 - Signal lost (location dot turns from blue to grey)
Speaking of permissions, we might be on the right track when we see a line like this:
Code:
01-08 11:23:17.690 2851 3241 I LocationAccessPolicy: com.google.android.gms is aware of fine but the app-ops permission is specifically denied.
Even with wifi scanning turned off, the 'WifiService:' pattern remains exactly the same. So I assume this relates to 'Google Location Accuracy', rather than 'Wi-Fi and Bluetooth scanning'. Just before the signal is lost again, this appears:
Code:
01-08 11:23:21.254 1132 4140 E WifiService: Permission violation - getScanResults not allowed for uid=10042, packageName=com.google.android.gms, reason=java.lang.SecurityException: UID 10042 has no location permission
Whatever I try to toggle on or off (ELS, scanning, accuracy...), the result stays the same: after about 1.5 minutes the signal is lost again.
We could really use your help here, @Funk Wizard
I could see somebody building a module in the near future to fix this ridiculous issue... Or we can at least hope.... Wish I had the know how to do something like that.....
I have the exact same issues. Annoying..
I think I managed to find a workaround which doesn't involve a factory reset:
Settings -> System -> Reset options -> Reset app preferences (this doesn't affect apps data)
Settings -> Apps & notifications -> See all XXX apps -> (3 dots in the upper right corner) -> Show system -> Clear storage and cache of the following apps:
Google Maps
Google Play services
Google Services Framework
LocationServices
Phone Services
Fused Location
Google Location History
OPMmsLocation
I wiped Dalvik cache in TWRP.
I'm not sure all steps are necessary but resetting apps preferences is the key one I think. It's going to reset the permissions of all apps but it's a good alternative to reinstall everything from scratch. The issue of the GPS fix in Google Maps hasn't come back for me since.

I had this issue and tried this fix. Now my apps are working again. ( I cleared the storage of all mentioned apps).
But after that i had the df dferh 01 playstore bug. After solving that ( some youtube tutorial) everything is OK.
Thanks,
Followed all the steps, seems to be working fine now.
Maybe it's just my imagination, but the device seems more responsive as well..

Since all your apps' settings have been reset, that is plausible. And if it's not the case, we can at least enjoy the placebo effect ^_^
