Sprint HTC snap firmware update. - Dash 3G, Snap General

Today my Sprint Snap 511 popped up a dialog that asked me if i wanted to accept or reject a new firmware update. I'm happy with how the phone has been performing, so i rejected the update pending some research.
anyone have an idea what this was? is it winmo 6.5? some sort of minor update? how do i even get back to that dialog if i want to accept the firmware update?

I have the same question. Noone knows anything?

Firmware Update for Sprint Snap--->DO NOT DO IT!
I installed it, and while the phone seemed to work well at first, it does one thing that will render your phone almost useless.
You can no longer change your default ringer, even to one of the pre-installed ringers.
In fact, I cannot even set the phone to vibrate.
HTC will tell you to do a hard reset but it will not fix the firmware problem.
So DO NOT INSTALL THE FIRMWARE UPDATE!
It is not a WM6.5 update.

I saw someone post in another forum that after they did the firmware update they could not change their ringer and they also could not receive text messages. They could send text messages though. I'm definitely going to wait.

Does anybody have any of the old firmware that they can upload? this new firmware is just ridiculous.

I agree with Dr. Gizmo. DO NOT download this new firmware.
I have been noticing something odd with my yahoo! email service on my Snap. I used to be able to attach multiple pictures into one email message. Now, I can no longer attach pictures in my email message. If I want to send an image via email, I have to locate the file in my album, then click 'send in email.' This is extremely frustrating, as I can only send one message with one attached file at a time.
I thought by doing a reset of the factory settings this would remedy the solution. I was wrong! After backing up my files and defaulting all of the settings, now my ringer is stuck at the default option. I can change it from silent, to work, to normal. However, I can make no changes to the actual ringer, ie "standard2, melody, drums, etc, etc."
I was half asleep when I pressed "accept" when prompted the firmware update. I wish I had pressed "Decline."
DO NOT accept the firmware updates.
Does anyone know a work around? Is there anyway we can reverse the firmware updates?

I have the same problem as all of you and I feel like an idiot for accepting the update when it popped up on my phone on March 24. I cannot change my wallpaper to a picture of my own or change the main ring tones. I called HTC support and they told me they sent NO firmeware updates out and that I should hard reset the phone. Do not hard reset the phone as this DOES NOT correct the problem...which really scares me because if a hard reset does not work then what the heck will.
Does anyone know if there is a way to disable the update or undo it?
Also, if HTC did not send out the update, it might have been an update that windows sent out and they are to blame. This needs to be addressed and fixed soon. By the way Sprint, please don't tell people to hard reset the phone...That DOES NOT fix this error.
Please help anyone

PirateTD,
You should be able to change your homescreen background image (wallpaper) from the menu at the bottom of the htc homescreen.
The ringer won't change from anywhere

SnapJoeSnap
Nope..changing wallpaper overall is not working.. try to change the wallpaper to one of your personal pics and it will say "Unable to set picture as Home screen wallpaper."
it will say this no matter what picture you try to change it to and this DID NOT start until the windows update.
If you go under settings and click on homescreen and then change it under where it says background image, it will change it but it will not change it to what you select. I have selected multiple different images under here and it either stays the same or changes it to something TOTALLY different from what you selected and i have no idea but it wont let you pick a wallpaper now.
Please try this everyone and let me know what it does to ypu

Anyone have any idea how to get the old ROM prior to the update and how to install in on the phone..
Any help would be appreciated

Funny thing, this win mobile is... I went through start>settings>home screen and I CAN change the picture setting to whatever I like (it does not give me the error) BUT the image displayed won't change. If I go back to settings>home I can see that the change stuck, but the picture won't change even thou it looks like the wallpaper is 'refreshing'. I was sure I could and did as I rechecked before posting and I would get the "error..." message from settings>homescreen but not from HTC Home sliding panel AND I saw the diff pic in the wallpaper.
EDIT: Wait just a minute... I can't insert files into emails!!! What the...???

Yes it would be. Can anyone help us guys out?

Sorry I can not help you with uninstalling the firmware update, but I can tell you this the update if from neither HTC nor Microsoft it is a Sprint Firmware update. The word is the update that has caused problems for our phone was released in part to put an end to the practice of using the phones data services on our laptops. As much as I do not agree as to how Sprint has handeled this I understand their reasons with some people taking advantage of this ability to hog bandwith with torrent downloads, watching movies... So if you are one of these people thank you very much and as a Sprint user I do not want to see Sprints service affected like ATT's with not being able to make calls because everyone is using their IPhones. Get your self an aircard!
Ok I have found a few work arounds to the main ringer and the home screen picture issue.
The first work around the Home Screen Picture - thanks to the update above and a locked registery the settings panel no longer works... But if you use the Picture and Video app (included with the phone) to set your home screen back ground picture. Just open the image you want to use with the app and with the use of the "menu" you can set your home screen image there.
The main ringer is a little different but along the same lines. Making this change requires something along the lines of a ringtome manager that allows you to change the main ringer in it, and the phone does not come with one. However I did a trial version of Photo Contact Pro that had this ability. Now I did not care for Photo Contact Pro after trying it out but still it allowed me to change the main ringer while I had it on my phone. Now I can no longer change my main ringer because I uninstalled the App but then because it was a trial version it did not cost me anything. So if you really need to change your ringer once here is an option, however if you are one of those who wants to change their ringer on a regular basis, you will then have to find an app that will allow you to did this or wait until a fix is released.
As far as an email issue someone wrote about here you will need to double check your email account settings. I had problems sending emails from my phone and found the auto settings were not correct for the smtp (out going mail) server and I had to set them manualy...

Sprint finally released an update to the Snap s511, you can find it on the website. It fixes all the problems that the bad update caused

Odd symbol in status bar

I've noticed a strange symbol in the status bar of my Xda2, which flashes up from time to time. It looks like three linked bubbles with a cross through them, and appears next to the signal meter. It shows for a second and then disappears. My device is exactly as it was when I took it out of the box.
I don't doubt that this is perfectly normal, but could somebody tell me what it is?
Thanks in advance.
p.s. I did use the search, but was unsure as to what I was searching for!
i didn't understand maybe a picture or a drawing would be better
This is probably your gsm company logo.
Here is an approximation I drew using ‘Paint’. I’d get a screen grab, or even take a photo, but I never know when it is going to appear......
My operator logo is the O2 symbol shown against my name, so it isn’t that.
Thanks
If it's the thing that looks like a speech bubble, it's what O2 call "the notification icon". All it means is that there is not enough space to display all the current status icons (eg signal strength, SMS received, etc. If you tap it, further icons will be displayed. It goes away again when there are fewer icons to display (eg you read the SMS).
I know the one you mean Tim, but that's not it.
My sketch is pretty accurate. It almost reminds me of a muscular arm with a cross through it. My first though was that because it has a cross through it and only appears sporadically, it must mean that something is temporarily unavailable. I just can't think what!

I think I see the same thing when I do a soft reset. On mine, the lower "bubbles" look like a handset of a telephone, and it occurs right before I am asked to ener the PIN.
My guess is the symbol tries to tell you that the SIM (and consequently, the phone) is momentarily unavailable.
Cheers
Daniel
Aha! I've just done a soft reset and it appeared again......
My drawing was less accurate than I thought, I had missed off a 'bubble', and it does indeed look like a handset.
Mystery solved!
Thanks guys!
is it not described along with all other notify icons in the manual ?
I don't know. I'm in the middle of moving house and my manual appears to have been 'tidied' away....
Isn't it just the symbol that comes from IA photo contacts? Just ignore it...
well i dont have them near by myself
i did try to google my way to the pdf because i also
see that notify icon some times and
wanted to take advantage of your question
to know myself
Here's that icon...
farnold was right, actually it's IA Caller ID.
IA Caller ID gets killed most often by the 32-processes limit (being loaded first and idle for a long time makes it the best candidate to kill). When you see that symbol, it just means that IA Caller ID is being loaded again when it's killed.
Nothing to worry about, it is design to restart itself from time to time.
And with the next ROM version we can actually expect to be able to get rid of it right from the beginning... I read that the latest IMATE upgrade already has that... I don't need picture contacts anyway...
its nothing to even do with caller id
i erased every file off the extended rom done a hard reset to see if i can sort the bluddy thing turning on every 5 min and that little icon still pops up and thats with a blank pda with nothing installed and it even turns itself on still  dont get whats wrong with the bluddy thing

Mate, that must be magic then :? If you erase every file from the extended rom and perform a hard reset you will get a pretty much not working device...
i suggest you try b4 u tell me mate
youll find the only program u need is the camera one the phone operates fine without any other cab and the only cab you need to install is the camera one so the camera works
why dont u back up the files on your pc copy andpaste the rom into a folder for safe keeping and then hard reset it
youll find it works top bananna + also gets rid of all the company customisation crap oh also install the mms thing too but youll have to set that up manually but its simple enough same with connections for wap and gprs all easily done and you got yourself a working phone with less crap to slow it down

How do you switch off the camera shutter sound??

how do you switch off the camera shutter sound??
It's kinda annoying from time to time. And it is pretty loud, which makes the phone useless inside my lecture room when i want to take a photo of the lecture notes...
Open the camera, tap the screen once to show the toolbar icon, tap it to open the toolbar and tap the gearwheel for settings.
Page 3 sets the shutter sound. Whatever you choose will be remembered.
I might be barking up the wrong tree here, but have you considered looking through the options menu?
The problem is in my page 3, the options are:
Shoot option
Image properties
Effect
Metering mode
No idea then, strange that the option is missing from your device as it's (the option) in the official manual for the Touch HD. I'm using Dutty's 2.6 ROM which has a different camera version to the Stock ROM, I'm pretty sure the option was there on my device before I got the flashing bug, though.
do you have stock rom? my page 3 has shutter sound. metering mode is on page 4

mute your phone , especially during lectures
EDIT:
did not know it's AU version, try overwriting the shutter sound snap.wav in the windows folder
or in the registry "HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\Common\SourceOfSnapSound"
or replace the camera EXE form a different WWE ROM
I swear, some people just want us to feed them.
Not even mute can silent the camera shutter.... This is so annoying.....
Shutter sound cannot be turned off on aussie version
No need to be nasty guys. The posters problem is that they have purchased an Australian version of the blackstone (I have the same phone). It turns out that Telstra in all their wisdom have ensured that the camera sound cannot be turned off (this is something they are doing with all phones now to stop people taking 'up skirt' pics and such). So even if you turn the sound off, if you go into the camera and use it, the phone sound is turned back on. People have tried to change the registry values for the camera sound and this does nothing. Someone has also managed to find the sound file (which cannot be deleted) and replaced it with another sound, but on soft reset the sound is replaced back to original loud annoying and very embarrassing sound.
So if anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this (without flashing the rom), there will be a lot of appriciative people out there.

Fixed for you
LOL, well I am both of those things, but don't use a phone camera for either
Problem Solved
First things first:
It turns out that in the aussie version the source sound referred to in the registry (snap.wav) does not exist.
There is also other sounds within the windows folder that were part of the ROM (ShutterSound.wav and TimerSound.wav) but changing these had no effect on the camera sound.
Solution:
I managed to find the source of the sounds within a resource file and have successfully changed them to blank waves. The only issue with this work around is that the phone sound is still switched back on (even from silent mode) and stays on until ~20 seconds after shutting down the camera down, this means that if someone calls, emails or sends a message the corresponding sounds will be made. This could be a problem in lectures etc, but I can't think of any other work around. I'll work out how to make a cab for the change and post it here, in the meantime if anyone wants to know how to manually do the change let me know and i'll post it.
The simplest option for this issue would be for Aussie guys to flash a non-Oz ROM and be done with it. Flashing some of the newer ROMs has many benefits, not least of which would be the ability to mute the shutter sound from within the camera app itself.
To my mind, a much more elegant solution.
Camera Sound Silencer
Flashing the phone is obviously the cleanest method, but this option is not available to everyone. I have recommended the HD to people who have had their work purchase it for them (in such cases flashing is not an option). I also know people who will never flash their ROM, and yet want a quick and reversible solution for their problem. I won't be flashing my ROM until the shipped version of mine is available (I got caught with a warranty issue and a different ROM version before). I'm sure this won't happen until I extract my own so flashing isn't the answer for everyone.
Anyway attached is the CAB for silencing the sound. This works for the Australian ROM (not sure about other countries, so if anyone else tries it, let me know if it works). You first need to install the sdkcerts (this ensures you don't get asked if you trust the source each time you start the camera), then install the CamSilencer(AU).
REMEMBER that each time you use the camera the sound on the phone gets switched on, so if you are worried about phone calls etc, then make your alerts blank sounds too.
Any feedback would be good!
AaronC1978 - Any chance of getting a version of this that will work for the Touch Diamond? I've got a Telstra Touch Diamond that's a work phone, so flashing it is out, as you rightly mentioned above.
I've tried installing both your CABs here, but it's broken my camera. When I go into the camera, it works for about 2 seconds (and I can see the picture from the camera on the display), then the display goes black, and I get an error pop up "Failed to initialize camera. Failure to initialize the camera device.". I uninstalled the CamSilencer CAB, and it's back working again now, but (of course) I still have the obnoxious shutter sound.
Having the other phone sounds turned on after I've been using the camera isn't a problem to me, as I very rarely have the phone on silent anyway, and especially not if I'm taking a picture. I just want to get rid of that horrible loud camera sound! There's one thread in the Diamond section from last year that's gone unanswered and abandoned - help me Obi Wan Kenobi - you're my only hope!
Any help would be very much appreciated!
Thanks!

Hey Matto,
I'm no Obi Wan, two weeks ago I knew I could install cabs onto my phone, but that was the extent of it!!
Assuming that a similar file is modified on the diamond I should be able to fix it for you. But first you are going to have to get the file for me. If you don't have it installed you will need to use total commander to be able to get the file:
http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm
Install that on your phone and open it. In the total commander window, open up the windows folder and scroll down to a file called 'cameraRC.dll' and click it. Now click 'copy/move' in the file menu at the bottom of the screen and click click 'tree' on the popup and select eg your storage card. Now click copy on the popup.
Now connect your phone to your pc and move the cameraRC.dll file onto your pc (if you cant see it, make sure that you have "show hidden files" enabled on your file options on your computer).
When that's done, upload the file here and i'll take a look for you.
PM me if you have any trouble.
Hi Aaron,
Sounds like I'm about 2 weeks behind you then! I've uploaded and attached the CameraRC.dll file to this post here as per your beaut instructions - if you wouldn't mind taking a look, I'd really appreciate it. I'm sure all the other Aus TD users would as well!
Thanks for all your help - this has been driving me mad!
Thanks!
Matto
Hey Matto,
I'm glad the instructions were clear, hopefully this CAB fixes the Diamond sound. You still need to make sure you have the sdkcerts file installed first. Also make sure you have uninstalled the HD CamSilencer (which I'm sure you have since it muffed up your camera). Don't stress if this doesn't work, because it is the right file and it just means I've done something wrong on my end (can't test if it works). Let me know how it goes.
Aaron
Hey Aaron,
You're a legend, my friend! Works a treat. Takes away both the focus zoom/lock sound, as well as the obnoxious shutter sound! I already had the sdkcerts installed from the previous attempt, and had uninstalled the old HDCamSilencer.CAB the other day, as you had guessed. Copied the new one across, installed it, rebooted the phone and voila - no sound!
Thanks very much for your help with this - very much appreciated! I'll let you announce it to the guys over in the TD forums, since it's your work and only right that you should get the kudos for it! I'm sure all the Telstra TD users will be very appreciative!
Again, thanks very much for your time and effort into doing this for me! Well done!
Thanks!
Matto

CyanogenMod MMS not resizing photos

I was told in the main CM thread that starting a new thread about this issue specifically is more likely to get attention, so here it is.
In the last 4 version of CM on my Nexus One (5.0.5-5.0.5.3), the MMS app is not resizing the photos taken with the camera app. When I go to get details on a photo that MMS is trying to send, it shows that it's anywhere between 600kb and 1000kb, clearly too large to send through AT&T. When I flash back to the stock rom, the MMS app resizes these same photos and they go through every time.
I tried sending an MMS earlier today with no luck, I'm on 5.0.5.2
I thought it was something i was doing wrong :/
I have the same problem
I guess we'll have to wait for 5.0.5.4...
I have the same issue. The only workaround I found was to use Handscent SMS instead of the built-in messaging app.

This is what I'm currently doing. Two things that suck about Handscent (from what I can tell). 1) It compresses the pictures to VERY small, so they actually look pretty lousy on a phone with a high resolution display. I think it compresses them down to 11kb. 2) Handscent doesn't send video.
This has been an issue with CM since the initial release. i switched to using Handcent as well.
Have you gone to the Settings menu in the Messaging App? From there go all the way to the bottom and Select Custom User Agent. Try selecting different ones and see if that changes anything.

I have tried all the user agents, none of these settings affect the size of the file being sent so it does nothing for this problem.
Any luck using chompsms?
i've had trouble with both reg message app and handcent....just reporting...HAHA
uh yep. same problem here. super annoying.
hopefully Steve has seen this and will look into it. I have played around with it a lot over last two days. It seems very random, works, then doesn't. I dunno....See if Steve mentions anything in next ROM update changelog, lets all hang tight, he's never let us down!!
chompsms has worked best in resizing mms and such
much prefer it to stock and handcent overall in use as well
I don't think this has anything to do with the CM ROM as I get the same on stock and from what I've read everyone seems to have the same issue.
There are other posts on here about this as well as on Googles Nexus help forum.
I struggled with the same issue. Firstly, as already pointed out, this is not an issue with Cyanogen, its the stock SMS app that is the culprit.
The solution is to edit your Mms.apk and hopefully Cyanogen will implement this fix in a new version.
Just use whatever binary editor on your OS to edit mms_config.xml which is in mms.apk. The limits are clearly visible as ASCII text in there. As the limit is 1048576, you need to make that 0307200 to be on the safe side. I also edited the resolution, 1024x768 would seem plenty for an MMS. The result is that out going messages here are around 100kb when resized and it never hits that 300KB limitation.
So start with unzipping the Mms.apk, then edit the file called mms_config.xml, and just zip it back up again.
Again, hopefully this fix can be implemented in the next Cyanogen version
cyanogen said that hes thinking about making the messaging app be configurable so we can choose which size the app does.
thanks for the tip Untouchab1e, but when i tried to unrar the file opened the xml file, edit with dreamweaver, changed the file size and the resolution (i did 800x600 though), but i rar it back up and rename to apk. Doesnt work. Am i doing something wrong?
EDIT
Well my current workaround for now is, download picsay (free) from the market, open picsay, tap get picture, open the picture you want, hit normal, hit menu button when the picutre is showing (menu on the 4 keys at the bottom) hit export, tap on save to sd card. after the picture has saved, open messaging app, attach a picture, open the picsay folder, select the picture and send. delete the picture from picsay if needed.
Any kind developers willing to recompile the Mms.apk with the edited xml file? I changed the file myself with the recommended settings, but I haven't the programming background to even begin to understand the process of putting the apk back together (everything I read about it gave me a headache).
Here's the zip file that contains everything, which technically just needs to be converted into an apk.
+1 here.
This is the biggest Problem for me with CM-Rom...
Its impossible to take a Picture and send it via MMS.
Iam 100% sure that the Picture-Resizing is working on Stock-Rom.
Please dont get me wrong, iam really happy with CM's Rom but iam wondering why Cyanogen didnt fixed this since the first release because its something like a "Basic-Feature" but it seems to be more important to have fancy color LED-Notifications...
Cyanogen, please fix this soon
It appears this is fixed in the upcoming 5.0.6 ROM, or at least it is in the test version.
You can also push the older 5.0.4.x version to get it working in 5.0.5.x, instructions are here.
I have a feeling that these settings only affect those using the Nexus One on AT&T, and since CM's ROM's are used by people in numerous countroes and various networks, it would make sense to keep it open for those carriers to allow larger pictures. That's just my guess though.
I tried 5.0.5.6 briefly just to test this and the results seemed to be the same. I'm going to try pushing the older version, but I don't want to lose the black background. I think it's slick.
Edit: Just reverted to the 5.0.5.4 MMS file as posted above without theme options and it's still not working. I also forgot that the old and stock version of this app have that inconsistent behavior when pressing the back button (sometimes you load all threads, sometimes you get kicked back to the home screen). Nandroid restoring now...

I know how to lenghten the time before it goes into energy saving mode or for screen to turn back but this is the exact problem I was staying away from since opting to get the Iphone 5... Since this has the best hardware as of the moment but to lag and freeze and sometimes even crash the phonebook or message app is ridiculous..... Sure you can do a lot of cool stuff but if it can't do this and the answer to my solution is to wait for an update just for a simple task of calling or messaging someone Samsung really brought out a half baked product. Hope you guys can help me with this because everytime I want to call or text someone I just do it on facebook a nokia 5110 would do better than this as far as calling and messaging.... Have they focused to much on the advanced features that they didn't fix the most basic elements of the phone. I had the HTC sensation, iphone 3 before that then this.. Since I'm into computers and pro open source I opted to stict with the android... but this is really pushing me to switch to Apple (who I hate but is really efficient at doing things its supposed to) or windows 8.
Help me with this problem so I don't give up on androids for my next phone I'd rather have a phone that is working lag free than the latest phone with the best specs that can't even do what it's supposed to do, basically reducing it to a bar of soap....

Help me with this problem so I don't give up on androids for my next phone I'd rather have a phone that is working lag free than the latest phone with the best specs that can't even do what it's supposed to do, basically reducing it to a bar of soap....

Hey this isn't an issue with the phone....its a problem with the update....there are a few things you can try out
1. Go to settings and go to application manager in the last tab....scroll to the 4th tab in the app manager...which is All.....and find your contact and contact storage apps.....clear their memory (note this will delete all your contacts....so backup) and retry accessing contacts as usual.
2. Usually the first step helps...if it doesn't... try to do a factory reset of your phone.....(This will delete all your app data....so backup)
3. You could also try to reflash the same firmware or a better update via odin.... Google and XDA are your friends so search the forums....there are many good tutorials.
4. Finally if you still feel like this isnt the answer...i suggest you to root your phone and install a new custom firmware....lots of good tutorials and roms on the XDA forums so check it out. If you dont know about rooting....approach with caution as this will void your warranty....
So try these out...hope it gave you some idea good luck!!

12-11-14 Update

I have seen posts in other threads about the update and I feel that a post about the update in any of those threads would detract from that threads purpose. So I made one instead.
I 'm on Boost and the update itself is just under 25MB, and per the Apps list it appears that half of that went to the new Contacts app based on size (not sure if download was compressed or not). It took roughly 10 minutes to completely install and it slowed waaaaayyy down when it reached 70+% on "Phase 1." "Phase 2" was fairly quick. I couldn't get a picture of the screen but it is a plain black background with only white text denoting information and progress. "Phase 1" would slowly blink on and off during that installation cycle. I was on battery and it ate roughly 5-6% during the process.
Bloat: it's hardly there. All I noticed was the addition of adding your Yahoo account credentials to work with the new Contacts app (I'm assuming), and after removing it it does not appear in the Add an Account menu. The new Contacts and Data Collection Tool app (the two are most likely associated) cannot be removed, but can be disabled. Also, there are some new wallpapers, being "Magic Smoke" and "Music Visualization." I don't know what they look like since I have no need for them and disabled them too. There may be other additions that I have not caught. I really wish we have root to get rid of the Connections Optimizer. It re-enables itself after the update and is more aggressive in wanting to be used.
Battery life: I have seen an improvement in SOT with Data/Wi-Fi, but still have drainage while the phone is not in use/asleep. I have uninstalled my Battery app (Battery Solo Widget Pro) and disabled the Battery notification in Power Toggles (never set it to poll to begin with) to see if they could have been the culprit. For context I actively use Greenify and set it for all apps I don't need to be constantly running, and turn Data/Wi-Fi/etc . off when I am done using that feature and have location set to Battery Saving.
I don't know how many of youz guys have installed the update, but I'd be happy to help with any questions I can answer.
Battery settings detail is now showing up when it would force close previously. I'm going to assume they also may have fixed the WIFI cert issue some people where having.
I save most of the logcats logs if anyone wants to have a peak at those. OTA updates were provided via Redbend.
Won't update with a low battery
I just when to try the update to see if there is a resolution to the Wifi 802.1xEAP certificates bug and it downloaded very quickly. However, when I clicked OK to install, it came back and said the Battery was too low and to install later. Even with the phone plugged into the USB port! (Yes the battery was down to about 1/4). Fortunately it looks like it kept the download.
The only concern I have with this upgrade is the google security update. I'm just wondering if I'll be closing a hole needed to root this phone.

Good thing Sharp fixed the Battery detail bug. I can confirm that Sharp has not fixed the cert issue. jh2015 posted in the thread about the issue that Sharp told him/her that it will not be fixed.
Did anyone actually captured the OTA URL and the update zip file?

Can't say I'm well versed in Android but when capturing the logcat file the only file name I could find after the download was
f_SG306SH_S8216toSG306SH_SA300.shdiff
the only two URLs I could find were
http://0946f61c52f05cb871ea-d87d123...47.r71.cf3.rackcdn.com/2640182142_dpD/APP_JNI

Could not access /cache/ or /fota/ after the download since there is not root access. I personally was unable to find or rewrite the download to a different location due to permissions.
Smart Contacts and Phone
The new smart contacts and phone app is very Lollipop. I wonder if this is an indication that the Aquos Crystal will get an 5.0 update, maybe no time soon, but in the future.
Chameleon become sharp.

Can we get show of hands who took the update? And please share your experience with it...

I updated it the day it came out and I don't use the new bloatware added haven't used it. If you haven't noticed when you take a picture the shutter noise was always on or something like that. With the update the shutter noise can be turned off now, glad they fixed it.
Eh, great one, the shutter sound was pretty loud.
Edit: where you find the option?

I don't think there's an actual on/off option but if your phone is on vibrate or silent then you shouldn't hear the shutter sound.
Ting still working?
Has anyone on Ting using the Boost (white) version installed the update?
If so: (a) Is everything still working on Ting? (b) Is Spark LTE still working on Ting?
