Can someone teach mi how to install those .cab files into the X1???

hopefully someone can do a step by step procedures for mi... thankz....
Step By Step
Hi Kris,
Pretty simple really.
Connect your X1 to your pc via microsofts activesync. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/activesync45.mspx#download
Use the explore button on activesync and click on my windows mobile based device (once inside you can access the root of the phone or the storage card if you have one)
Drag and drop the required .cab to either the root of the storage card or a folder of your choice on the phone (for ease of access)
Go back to your X1 and use the file explorer to navigate to the .cab file, tap it and it will execute.
Follow the instructions given by the installation wizard.
Your application is now installed........enjoy

I usually sync to my laptop and D/L from there to my documents or another appropriate file on the phone. Click and drag, easy.
I need more info. You downloaded the cab file to your PC and then copied the cab to your device via activesync? Where did you copy the file to in your HD? Generally what I do is copy the cab file from my PC to my SD card via activesync. Go to my storage card via file explorer in programs. Touch the cab file, and it installs.
I downloaded HD-Tweak from here http://montecristoff.webs.com/hdtweak.htm, but the zip file does not show a .cab file? it only shows a .xml setup file, which, when I try to open, opens in an Opera browser?
you downloaded a cab file, not a zip file, which it looks like you extracted mistakenly as a zip file which is why you're dealing w/ the xml. Copy the cab file that you downloaded from your pc to your phone and then run it on the phone.
Alternatively if you have Cabviaactivesync installed you can just right click on the cab from your pc w/ the phone attached and select CabviaActivesync and it will start the installation on your phone.
I see what's happening. The cab file is what you downloaded. Inside the cab file is a bunch of things, one of which is an xml setup file, which I think you're copying and trying to install on your device. For whatever reason, after you unzip, your taken inside the guts of the cab file. You don't copy any of that. Close out of that. You don't open a cab file. On your PC, the cab file should be an icon that looks like a blue and white file cabinet. If you see that, don't open it. Instead, either drag the icon into your device via activesync or copy it into your device via activesync. Once in the device, go to folder in which you copied it and tap on it. It should then install properly.
Wow! thanks, it worked.

13.9 Installing and Uninstalling Programs
You can install or uninstall additional programs. Your phone does not allow you to uninstall most of the preinstalled programs.
Note Before you purchase additional programs, make sure that they are compatible with your phone.
Before you launch the program installer, check first whether the installer can directly run on Windows Mobile or needs to be run on a computer.
To install a program directly on your phone
1. If the installer is a .cab file, directly download or copy it to your phone.
2. On your phone, open File Explorer and navigate to the installer file.
3. Tap the file to launch the installer.
274 Chapter 13 Other Programs
4. Choose whether to install the program into the main memory or your storage card, if you have the storage card inserted on your phone.
5. Wait for the installation to complete.
Note You may be prompted to restart your phone after installation is completed.
To install a program from your computer
1. If the installer is an .exe file such as Setup.exe, most likely, the installer needs to be run on a computer. Download or copy it to your computer.
2. Connect your phone to your computer using the USB cable, and then double-click the installer file on your computer to launch the installer.
3. Follow the onscreen instructions on your computer and your phone to complete the installation.
To uninstall a program
1. On the Home screen, slide to the Settings tab.
2. Tap Application > Remove programs.
3. In the Programs in storage memory list, select the program you want to remove, and then tap Remove.

What file manager are you using? File Explorer?
File manager and search for the file
What are you trying to install? If it's a huge cab, you're better of installing it to the sdcard. Anyway, thry the following steps:
1. Browse to the location of the cab
2. Select it to begin installation
3. Answer the question to where do you want to install it "sdcard or phone memory"
4. After installation is completed, go to the start menu and you might find it there, depending on what you installed, you might have to look in other places.
Thanks for the tip! Work fine

APK Installer for Windows

If you're constantly downloading APK packages from the Internet, you'll know how annoying it is to copy them to the SD card. So, with this application, you can just click one from anywhere on your PC to install it onto your phone!
SYSTEM APP INSTALLING DOESN'T WORK YET.
THIS PROGRAM SOMETIMES DOESN'T WORK.
Prerequisites
- ADB environmental variable set up
(Cornea, one of my programs available on XDA, can do the same thing for you).
- Windows
- ADB drivers for your phone
- APKinstaller.bat
1. Enable USB debugging.
2. Right-click any APK file, then choose Open With. Tick 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file'.
3. Click Browse.
4. Find APKinstaller.bat, then double-click it.
5. In the textbox, type "Android package file (double-click to install)".
6. Now, the APK will install.
To install an APK in the future, just double click it!
