Can't add Google account - crashes to home screen - Android Head-Units

Good evening all, I have recently purchased a new Joying Android 10 unit.
If I try to add my account either through the Google accounts method under settings, or through Google play, the app will do it checking stuff, and then momentarily present the add your email page. This will stick on the screen for a moment or two, then it will just drop to the home screen.
I have reset all the settting available, including factory reset everything, and that still doesn't work. I have also tried to make sure that nothing else is running, by killing all apps prior to trying to add the account.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Missing Email Account HD2

Hi Guys and Girls,
This is my first HTC device and im loving it so far, being a long user for wimo devices, recently come from an omnia i8000, huge improvement going to the HTC, i wont look back.
Has anyone expericened missing email accounts? it still seems to be in the list but its hidden? i can create a new account with a different account name, and it works but is there any fix?
Thanks for your help
Bj,
I experienced the same problem today. However, I noticed that the mail settings had disappeared in addition to the accounts no longer showing up.
The only way I was able to solve the problem was by deleting the mailboxes and re-creating them.
Hopefully there is a better solution found in case this happens again.
Same thing happened to me just yesterday, wonder what's the cause.
Anyway I had the settings backed up to a cab as described here so a reinstall of that set them back up in seconds.
Have the same problem, but my internet settings was lost to...
Any fix for this other than the obe above?
//Johan
I had same misterious problem two times, and I didn't understand why...
:-(
Even I've had the same problem twice..and in addition to losing the email accounts, all my apps which required login like facebook, fring, etc stopped remembering usernames and passwords. Even if I selected save password, it kept asking me everytime is started the app.
The first time it happened i did not notice why, but the second time it happed immediately after a soft reset done using BSB Tweaks after making some changes in it.
I have removed BSB Tweaks for the time being, so will wait and see if it happens again.
the email problem can be solved by going to email- tab --> menu --> account settings (may have another name) --> choose your disappered account. you will notice some of your settins are lost, in my case the mail servers and the username. type in the missing information, and hit 'done', your email acc will be visible again.
Missing Accounts
Same problem after I installed the newest firmware in June. Never happened before, since then TWICE, so it must be the issue of the new FW. Sorry wergor, the solution you offer sucks. Doesn't solve the cause!

Hey,
I found a solution to this problem that I think works. The first time this happened my email accounts disappeared and all of my logins for other things (facebook, etc) also stopped working. This just happened again with no recent mods to the phone, and the only add-on I have is C00kie's Home Tabs (which I didn't have the first time).
The first time I used all the missing settings as an opportunity to upgrade my software. This time I'm on the road and I don't have time to fool with it. Happily I did figure out a way to resurrect the vanished accounts.
As you stated, if you try to recreate the settings, the system will tell you that the account exists, forcing you to create the same settings with a different name. You can probably find your original settings by doing the following:
Go to the settings tab. (Scroll left from your home)
Choose "Data Services"
Scroll down to "E-Mail"
Here you should see whatever accounts you created, even if they don't show up in your email tab proper. Select them and update your passwords (if they're missing, mine were). Everything should look normal.
As I said, I'm on data roam and I couldn't get my OTA download to work where I am. Hopefully when I get back I'll know for sure. Give it a try and I hope it helps you.
Dan
Dan.S - yes, it works, thanks so much. ;-)
It works
Yes, works. In same time, I lost my ability to connect to Facebook. Whenever I try to input name (email) and password, I get instant answer that there is problem with connection. Maybe password also lost. No idea where to find solution.

[Q] Problem with the sync google account

I bought from someone and I wanted lg sync my account with the services from the market that is google and gmail. To do this you first need to perform a factory reset, and since then there is a problem that neither can I create a new account or link your account (I'll add that previously normally added to your account-but that there was no default in the grocery store.) All the time that pops up, or unstable connection or to connect to the wi-fi. I have conducted several times to restore and nothing Uploader 2 different firmware and whenever I did hardreset and nothing. Connect by wi-fi and have nothing. Does anyone know if there is a patch, or have some walkthroughs how to solve this problem?

Device Adminsitrator messages - Mail/Calendar/Contacts wont Sync

Help!
I set up remote tracking on my GS2 yesterday, it seemed ok until i got this notification saying i had to 'Activate Device Administrator' for email. I figured this was a result of setting up the remote tracking as it listed a lot of similar functions on the screen (wipe phone, locate phone etc). So I clicked activate and ever since my Gmail doesnt sync, mail, contacts or calendar.
Ive tried deactivating it, but it just sends a notification saying i have to activate it. Ive toggled it a few times and tried syncing but no joy. Ive also noticed that a Samsung Account is now listed under 'Accounts and Sync', i think this is related as it accepts the same username and password i entered for the remote stuff. I tried deleting this but it says you can only delete it with a factory reset which id rather avoid if possible (im not convinced it would solve the syncing anyway..?)
Any help or ideas would be much appreciated.

Shay
I got google apps account (not premium, standard only) and it works flawlessly. Could you make second check to make sure that you have mobile access enabled?
I thought I would be the only professional user
I'm searching the hole internet for 3 days now to find people with this problem.
I experience exactly the same issue.
It took me about 10 factory resets to find out that it is an sgs2 issue.
Shame on Samsung.
This Phone is useless for professional users with Google Apps account.
To all who need the Google Apps Device Policy-App:
Please contact the Samsung support at least 10 times a day.
Until they understand that this is a killer-bug

How to transfer device ownership without reseting?

My mother's Nexus 7 has 2 accounts, the main/owner one which is my own and a secondary one for her. That's how I initially configured that device but I don't use it anymore, I want to remove my account from that device. How can I do that and transfer the device ownership to her account without resetting and re-configuring everything?
Anyone?

Hi, Nazgulled...
I really don't think there is an easy way of transferring ownership, other than with a factory reset, and then setting it up as a new device, with a new owner.
A factory reset provides a complete and clean break from the previous owner to the new owner.
It also depends on how many accounts you have, and with which organisations.
For example, I have my standard Google account, my Guardian (UK newspaper) account, BBC account, and Facebook account (not that I use it much).
Further, using Chrome browser, I use it to login to multiple blogs, websites and forums (such as XDA), and it remembers my login and password details.
------------------
Removing Google accounts is reasonably straightforward though...
On your Nexus 7
Go to SETTINGS>>ACCOUNTS>>GOOGLE...
Select your Google account, and then tap on the '3 dot' overflow menu at the top right hand corner of the screen, and select the Remove Account option.
(See attached screenshot.)
And then do the same for your mother's Google account, as it's a secondary account.
------------------
Once both accounts are removed, tap BACK twice (to just SETTINGS>>ACCOUNTS) and select +Add Account, select Google and enter your mothers Google login details, username and password...
Or alternatively, just back out of everything to the home screen and then fire up the PlayStore or Gmail app, where you'll be prompted to enter your mother's Google account details.
You're now setting up the Nexus 7 with your mother as the primary Google account holder.
------------------
One possible problem here that I can forsee, is if you've bought any paid-for apps from Google PlayStore using your (Nazgulled) Google account, and that you currently share with your mother, they will still be installed on the Nexus 7, but they will likely, at some point, fail the Google licence check... as you will cease to be the legitimate paid-for and licenced user of those apps on this device, the Nexus 7 (because your Google account will have been removed from the device).
This may possibly result in complete cessation of those apps, or experience some degree of limited/restricted functionality. This may not happen immediately. It could be days or weeks before this happens. It depends on how the apps (in question), and their developers deal with unpaid for, and thus unlicensed software.
Your mother may need to buy the apps (a licence) to continue to use them at some point, or alternatively, uninstall them.
------------------
You should also clear the data of certain apps you currently use, as the primary user of the device...
Any email apps you happen to use, such as...
**Gmail
**Inbox
**MailDroid
Any browsers...
**Chrome and it's derivatives (Beta and Developer)
**Opera
**Boat Browser
**Maxthon Browser
Any banking or financial apps you also might have installed. This will clear username and password login details stored by these apps.
This is accomplished as follows.
I'll use Chrome as an example.
Go to SETTINGS>>APPS>>Scroll horizontally to the ALL tab...
Scroll DOWN to Chrome, tap to enter and tap the CLEAR DATA button.
The same method should be used for apps installed whose login details you wish to clear.
------------------
Please don't misunderstand me... I'm not trying to impugn your relationship with your mother or the level of trust you have with her. But privacy is a consideration when transferring a device that has not been properly wiped. And I'm just pointing out the complexity of removing your personal data from a device... without factory resetting it... and which is the only surefire and guaranteed way of cleanly transferring ownership.
------------------
If all the above sounds a bit messy, that's because it is!!!
I know from experience in the past, with Android devices, Windows PC's, and quite recently, an Apple Mac, that the most straightforward way of transferring ownership, is for the new user to begin with a completely blank slate.
And apart from anything else, a factory reset device generally tends to perform better, is smoother and is more responsive, once the accumulated detritus of months or years of use has been swept away.
------------------
Hope this is useful to you... and good luck.
Rgrds,
Ged.
Wow, such detailed post. Much appreciated...
Now that I think about it, a factory reset would probably work because my mother doesn't have that many apps and the ones that she uses are probably backed up on Google's servers which will be automatically restored when setting up the device a second time. There are no purchased apps that I share with the second account, so that's not a problem. About privacy, no worries mate, that's a non-issue, unless someone unknown gets access to the device and starts poking around, that's not a problem.
I'll probably do a factory reset than, it will probably be easier.
Thanks
