Hi everybody,
I want to start the building of Ubuntu Touch for our device !
The only problem is that the "falcon", hasn't any ports of under Android 4.3 ... And Ubuntu Touch is based on CM10.1 (4.1.2).
Some others people have the same problem to port it on Nexus 5, and Ricardo Salveti de Araujo solved their problem by doing this :
Code:
1) Flash the original 4.4.2 based Android image from https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images ($ sudo ./flash-all.sh)
2) Unlock your bootloader: $ fastboot oem unlock
3) Boot the device with the original 4.4.2 image
4) At the bootloader, flash boot, recovery and system for your device (http://people.canonical.com/~rsalveti/aosp/<device>)
- fastboot flash boot boot.img
- fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
- fastboot flash system system.img
5) Flash Ubuntu using http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-touch/daily-preinstalled/pending/trusty-preinstalled-touch-armhf.zip (adb push then flash via menu)
6) Reboot, and use phablet-network to setup the network
7) Enable my personal PPA (latest MIR): sudo apt-add-repository ppa:rsalveti/ppa
8) Install latest MIR packages: apt-get update; apt-get dist-upgrade
9) Enable MIR: touch /home/phablet/.display-mir
11) Reboot and profit!
Maybe we can do the same for the Moto G ?
Personnaly, I've the stuff to do this but I haven't the knowledge .

No. This isn't usable. Everything quoted is from the nexus 5. This is just an all-call for developers to start working on something like this.

He was asking if he could install this by using adb because he thought it's an actual working build.

Okay Thank you VictoriousShooter !
Hi, on my Motorola atrix 4g Wishnu I use, it allows me to use LXDE, I use Ubuntunoroot too, but it does not work on my moto g: (
I would like a port in the style done on the moto g
Is this a project? I don't think placeholder threads are allowed in XDA. I saw once somewhere that Rom threads without download links are forbidden.
Dont tease us...
WOW Finally a Ubuntu Touch Project for Moto G :silly: but don't tease us.
I think the biggest thing that would hinder would be step 4. Looking into the site
http://people.canonical.com/~rsalveti/aosp/
it only has files for Nexus devices and for generic x86 chips(?)
anyone knowledgeable to make equivalents for falcon?

+1 You're completly right !
Wow that's a nice project, are you sure this is possible?
I find Ubuntu Touch so beautiful and i hope i can use it in my Moto G one day ^^
Good luck guys, I support you and i follow this thread
Got to thinking... What about a Jelly Bean backport attemp, to use it as a base for Ubuntu Touch?
I can't help with much, since I do not own a Falcon(yet), but I could help coding
luckily, our device has a jb version (albeit 4.3 as opposed to the 4.1 we need) but its better than some devices that only have kitkat. Not much, but its a start.
I downloaded the grouper system.img from the link in the first post and I was exploring it,,, Seems like an Android basic installation, maybe we could create one taking the files from a KitKat install... I'll wait to get my hands on my Moto G to begin testing
Hi guys! I found a way to unlock your bootloader unofficially in Marshmallow ROMs in seconds without the Mi Unlocking Tool and even without the Approval from XiaoMi and I want to share with all users here. This works fine with Redmi Note 3 Pro Snapdragon and Special Edition versions under Marshmallow ROM.
Link for tutorial: http://en.miui.com/thread-345728-1-1.html
Not working for my Redmi Note 3 Special Edition (Kate). Wich ROM did you use for your Special Edition?

Latest Special Edition Global Stable. Works 100%.
I tried it 3 days ago with the Global Stable MIUI 7 and if I flash the modified bootloader my Kate does not boot anymore.

Are you sure it will work for redmi note 3 pro snapdragon (kenzo)? Since there is no official marshmallow rom for Kenzo. Or could you direct me to the marshmallow rom for Kenzo.
This is the same as the old method on Lollipop MIUI, replacing emmc_appsboot.mbn with a hacked copy and flashing. I wouldn't call it a new method.

SURELY friend! I post things only after test it. I have some devices here including 3 Kenzos and 2 Kates devices. Works great and some users already used it and works. Look:

Guys just follow the instructions, it works for 100%. I have done this already like three times with my "kate" device with global beta rom installed.
Can you all post the exactly version ROM version, with wich you archived this?

You can use latest Stable (V7.5.2.0.MHRMIDE) fastboot or latest Beta (6.9.1) fastboot ROMs.
Is it possible to just flash the modified bootloader via:
fastboot flash aboot emmc_appsboot.mbn
fastboot flash abootbak emmc_appsboot.mbn
Greetings
im0nKeY
Can I use this emmc_appsboot.mbn file from that MM thread to install miui_6.9.9 recovery zip in safe_twrp recovery (I know,I'll have to flash SuperSu and lazy flasher after I flashed the MM recovery rom and after first boot) ?
Hi @andersonaragao,
Can you please update your tutorial on the miui forum? I'm stuck in the middle.
First, the latest MI Flash Tool from the link you provided does not have an Advanced button. Also, it can't find the device after reboot edl; one has to boot the phone into fastboot manually for it to be recognized.
I downloaded the one you used from http://obigota.d.miui.com/tools/MiPhone20151028.exe, which works as described.
Further, the ROMs provided by on http://en.miui.com/download-301.html#449 are zip files in which I can't find the .bat, .mdn and .xml files needed to configure MiFlash. Please explain or provide a link where a proper ROM can be downloaded.
Hope you can help me out here!

To answer my own question: Fastboot ROM can be found here: http://en.miui.com/thread-328019-1-1.html
when I tried to flash, it got stuck on patching system image unconditionally. and nothing happens. any idea how to solve this? I have tried flashing with TWRP, ALKA, Cofface, still no luck
I've tried this guide loads of times now and I'm always stuck with "FAILED (remote: oem unlock is not allowed)".
All the info regarding the problem mention to boot into the system and turn on oem unlock in the developer options. But I can't boot with the modified emmc_appsboot.mbn I only get the Mi logo flashing. I didn't enabled before, as written in the guide.
Any ideas?

If you are using a newer version than DEV 6.11.3 It's not going to work as the bootloader lock control has changed,
downgread first and than procced with the unlocking proccess
All you need is here hxxps://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1cyJDH0uIykTGpOMUY1N2pENVE/view

Nice suggestion. But, will the bootloader stay unlocked if we update to the latest dev rom via twrp, once it is unlocked unofficially with dev 6.11.3 or an older version?
Inviato dal mio Redmi Note 3 utilizzando Tapatalk
I just bought this device and thought "YES" I will pop over to XDA and see what's cooking here. I see there's an official twrp but no roms or kernels now am not trying to be cheeky or anything like that because I haven't got a clue on how to compile anything but surely their is a fantastic dev out there that's interested in doing some work to this fantastic device.?
This fantastic device still has no official bootloader unlock. No unlock, no ROMs.
https://www.nokia.com/phones/en_int/bootloader
It can be unlock unofficial. This is enough to start developing something for this phone.
Whether kernel (kernel sources are open) or ROM.
Even if it is not unlocked for everyone, at least for those who have been unlocked a bootloader.

I downgrade my bootloader by flashing older ota updare (for example december 2017), after that i flash unlocked bootloader with this tutorial - https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-6/how-to/guide-how-to-flash-custom-recovery-root-t3702354
See step two. In "Attached Files" is unlocked bootloader. Download from it and flash.
After all i flash rom and anything is perfect.
You can see how i root my phone in this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-6/help/nokia-6-rooting-t3865952
It is for TA-1033 model and i'm not sure that it will work on another nokia 6 models.
Maybe unlocked bootloader work on any Nokia 6 (2017)..
Any custom ROM needs a target audience, and this audience needs an easy way to unlock. No developer will wait for 1.5-2 years until HMD provides official unlock, developing for himself and a dozen of users makes no sense. There are plenty of devices having official unlocks from the release date like Xiaomi or Sony.

Unfortunately, this is true.
I'm sorry I did not buy Xiaomi, and now I'm with this Nokia.
Axon 7s A2018 dual cam QC821 Root Unlock Bootloader
Hi XDA Guru's
I Liked the ZTE Axon 7 so much that i decided to buy the successor the ZTE Axon 7s.
This in the hope that i could flash Lineage OS on it.
I tried every action here to reboot into fastboot i am unable to do so.
When you select fastboot it just boots into system.
So i cannot do the : "fastboot oem unlock"
I do get in to adb mode. But i do not know how to flash TWRP or Unlock the bootloader from here.
Are there any other people that put some effort in this and have succeded?
My hope would be that this device would work with the Lineage OS version build for the axon7 as this device is verry simular.
the only difference is the dual cam and the Qualcomm 821

Well, consider yourself lucky that you couldn't unlock it, because you would have hopelessly bricked it. "Very similar" does NOT mean "compatible with X phone's ROMs". Many phones with simple regional variants like the modem (i.e. same SoC, same RAM and storage, same cameras, enclosures, screens, only different modem) can't flash ROMs from the other variants. An example are the Titan and the Thea, two Moto G2 variants that don't share ROMs.
All of this doesn't matter because the 7S has not been unlocked anyways. I don't know, maybe ask an interested dev? A dev from here called tdm unlocked the axon 7 mini after a long time without development on it, i think they paid for him to buy one or something. you could even start a fundraiser or something if you really want custom on it
Hi, I'm making this thread to reach out developers that have an a31nsxx a.k.a SM-A315G.
Device tree already released on https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/recovery-twrp-for-samsung-galaxy-a31-sm-a315g.4462023/, still needing help to fix issues.

I already have a device tree on GitHub but it boot on black screen.
Any help is welcome, I need testers that can send me a TWRP logcat and some help from developers of other devices.
{Mod edit}
List of things we need to know of A31:
Code:
- It has ramdisk splitted into recovery.img and boot.img so it requires of both images for twrp to work.
- Isn't an A/B Device
- MT6768
- And more info I have saved in discord ;)
