I see that Samsung has released a new ROM for the T510 for some regions. Does anyone know if there is anything significant in it or just more security updates?
edit: Did a little searching and found this doc. Don't see anything earth shattering. I certainly won't go back to stock to get it.

Yes iknow it is impossible to answer, but since this is my first samsung device i have no clue how they do this, do they normaly release small software updates often, or few big ones a while?
Seing that P1000XXJM6 is leaked ( im all new on the galaxy tab forum, might be a newer one) makes me think that samsung will soon release a update with the changes?
i mean they cant wait for the android 2.3 update can they? If browser problems have been fixed and so on then i really want to root and get the newest version asap, but if i could wait a few weeks and get a official one, then i would.
If i start rooting and all, should i then feel safe about the future of my device, in other words, if samsung releases official firmware, will i be able to get it through xda? ( my guess is, yes but i would love an answer anyway)
let me say it like this:
do you really think if there is an official 2.3 released before some inofficial leaks will hit the ground? i don´t think so. anyway, if you are able to install a leak, for sure you will be able to install new official......
so why wait?
Dude that was not what i said. I was just. Wondering about samsung would release a update soon since there is this much improved new version out i mean wouldn't that make sense?
Well i wanna root and go custom but i see so many with problems and it seems like some loose features aswell like phone? Just want to have prober firmware on my tab and i thought that the whole root and flash thing would get better, safer and more polished? Maybe im all wrong, just through things where so much easier in the winmo days, maybe i just need to adapt, and get into it.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
if you think something makes sense, then wait...
if you have no experience with android flashing firmwares and/or rooting so you have to choose between staying "legal" and waiting with kies that samsung releases and you learn nothing as trust in big god samsung, or
-> you read 2 days and when you have it clear just try. you can go out as loser with a totally bricked tab or you win and have newer firmware and perhaps also more "freedom" on your device.
but if you choose the first way-> you will never know what it is and just keep talking about problems THE OTHERS has, dude.....
i could solve every described problem til now, because in this forum you find a lot of answers if you´re patiently reading and looking for......
Thanks for answering, just did not like your tone, i HAVE read most of the important treads and it is still not totally clear to me since there is so many different responses and you say you can solve everything while rooted, well, i really doubt that, i am not stupid neither naive.
Just wanted to know how Samsung usually did it with updates to their phones ( now tablet). Did not want a lecture, since i do not really need one, or at least not like that
Like i wrote i was thinking of rooting, but i was just wondering if i could expect Samsung to do updates to fix bugs in the nearest future, since the firmware version is already out there or if i might wait til thier 2.3 update to get anything.
I did not mean to be rude btw sorry if it came out that way.
I haven't been able to figure out the differences or benefits of going from US to WW ROM. I am interested since the Primordail 3.1 released a patch and I have no idea why this is a good thing.
Also, from past experiences, does WW unlock more apps in the market or something? Is there a way to do this? I am unable to find some apps in the market and remember a mod that showed everything on my Galaxy Tab awhile back.

According to Roach - there's no functional difference at all. My understanding is that he released it for those UK users who jumped the gun to the US-based Primordial release - and wanted to get on the "proper" WW release.
This is just a guess - but there are probably some region coding meta tags somewhere that may affect Android market.

Awesome, thanks. I will keep looking around for the market tags because I feel like I have different app results on my DroidX vs my TF
I'm wondering.
Since Samsung as of late have been focused on getting everything pushed to Lollipop, do you think we'll see some opinions about an update, or even rumor?
Maybe the full thing, who knows.
im interested too but...... i dont think its ever going to happen. samsung dont seem interested in the device at all anymore.
Given the cameras never even got KitKat it's very doubtful they will get Lollipop
If you ask this to Samsung, I expect them to say this:
"Galaxy Camera?"
"Isn't that that gimmick we released a couple of years ago?"
"An update to lollipop you say? Whahahahaha!"
"No."
But seriously: It never got past 4.1. I seriously doubt they would even consider this device for an update.
Samsung officialy stopped producing the K Zoom and put it EoL
so, no Lollipop or other updates anymore, even for exploit fixing
confirmed: no update
Galaxy camera 2 has stagefright!
Can we get a cyanogenmod build then ?

If you can get a seasoned developer to work on it, sure. I set up a device tree for the GC200 at https://github.com/AWildColin/android_device_samsung_sf2wifi six months ago. I was trying to encourage some development on it (*cough* @Decad3nce *sneeze*) by getting a custom recovery working, but everything I built and flashed resulted in black screens and I never found a way to troubleshoot exactly what was causing that to happen.
Frankly, I'm not an experienced enough developer. Maybe with a lot more free time, I might get some where, but a custom recovery is still a far cry from a stable CyanogenMod ROM. You're welcome to try though. https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Doc:_porting_intro

If I'm not mistaken the GalCam1 and GalCamNX never were upgraded from 4.1, and the GalCamNX was an almost $2000 camera. So no, I don't anticipate that Samsung will upgrade to Lolipop.

Nope. The device tree is still on Github though if anyone wants to mess around.
we really need a Cyanogenmod rom for this camera desperately.. . what people dont seem to realise or care about for some strange reason, this camera has now a nunber of very serious security vulnerability that samsung has not addressed, it is so bad you should not connect to the internet with it.
im going to try to sell mine. pretty pissed with samsung, they never once realeases any security updtes for this camera!
So my Dad was gonna throw this phone out. It won't charge.
I looked into it and it's a relatively easy fix and the part + new battery is going to set me back about $14
I'm thinking about giving it to my son but first I'm wondering if there's still stable roms around...
It's Verizon US version updated to Lollipop. I know TWRP/safestrap are a no go but pretty sure flashfire works.
I'm really just asking to see if anyone can comment on stability and performance. And seeing if maybe there's a rom not listed here like Dirty Unicorns? (some devs don't post on xda)
Of course if there's something I'm missing/any issues please let me know.
Thanks!

With a locked bootloader, you're pretty much stuck with the stock ROM.
Doe anyone have a tutorial on how I can roll the Elate back to Lollipop? I have unlocked it with fasboot but thats as far as I got...any help would be really appreciated, dont know where else to look.
If you just unlocked the bootloader, then the phone should still have stock Nougat, so there's nothing to roll back to. And this phone never had Lollipop - not sure where that idea came from.

Could I ask,why move back to lollipop..? I can understand aversion to change, but not much has changed from nougat to lollipop that's not arguably much better. App permissions are quite a bit tightened up, which can break old crappy apps.. For example, airplane mode and other radio settings can no longer be changed by any app, and requires root permissions past kitkat. It's slightly more annoying for me to set up automated tasks to change those settings, but I'd much rather go through that hassle than leave all settings unprotected..
Fwiw, I wouldn't get your hopes up.. 18 months after the first ascend was released, we still have not received the proper source files to create custom roms, and it's becoming increasingly less likely we ever will. In your case, these files would need to be available and there would need to be a developer willing to compile lollipop, a version many years outdated, when most will be attempting to port oreo and newer versions.
Perhaps if we knew why you need lollipop,we could help with a workaround, though likely you won't have much luck until someone gets twrp working..
Essentially this is to be a dedicated device for flying a DJI Phantom drone and their app is more stable on lollipop whisch is why I wanted to change it. I have been doing some research but coming up short so either I just use it as is or if it gets bad I'll just get a used more popular device. Thank you for be feedback.
If you need real-time control of something, I don't know if I could recommend this device. With a few governor tweaks this phone can be pretty zippy, but emui is about as janky as oem roms work.
If you want a dedicated device that you aren't planning on bloating up.. look around for a used galaxy s4 or s5, or an s3 even (any older phone with a snapdragon 800 series, really). They can be had for pretty dang cheap, and a 4-5 year old flagship will prove much faster than even a brand new low end device - especially if you are looking for something with lollipop.
