The superuser.apk just doesnt remove when you unroot. Nothing is working as you didnt re-root.
If you want root again, simply root it again and you will be good.
I rerooted it over and over and still didn't w
ork.
Follow the manual rooting process and it will work. I promise.
Same thing happened to me but I had mine re-rooted within 5 minutes.
I NEVER trust those one click apps unless they come from UnrEVOked.
i have try different ways and still didnt work...could someone please help...
Honestly brother, you are giving people nothing to work with. You just say it didn't work. The manual root method will work, so as stated above use that. If you are saying you did use that method, then please describe where it is failing and what things look like. Post the link to the manual method that you have used, there are a few, which did you try, what steps did you follow?
Also, what do you mean it doesn't work/ You said you went into the superuser app and nothing is there. Well, I am confused as nothing is supposed to be there. The app does nothing when you click into it. It only goes into effect when you download and install a program that needs root. (an example is root explorer) When you install that app, it will open up superuser and ask for root permission and you can click to remember, etc and give it access. Explain what you mean by its not working......Unless you have apps that already have supervisor privs
i went to youtube....... when i type in the command ./exploid[/B it say denied.....Ok when i download rooted apps and try to open the apps superuser never come up for i can click allow....none of my rooted app ask for root permission. When i use the one click root process it say my phone have been rooted...
Follow the ROOT instructions in this post and in the links on that post.

You might have to try the . Exploid command a few times before it will prompt you for the password, TRY AGAIN! I had to run that command several times before it showed the password prompt.

OK, I am going to try and help but only if you post what you have done, what you are following, etc. You cant make a blanket statement and expect people to know where you are at.
What files are you using, are you using the root that I linked you too? How are you typing things in? Dont put the "" around the commands like its typed, just type.
Did you in fact set up ADB correctly? When you push in step 2, what happens? When you go to adb shell after that, what happens, when you change directory's to sqlite_stmt_journal in step 4 what happens? etc.
If you want help man, you gotta be specific. This is why you are not getting a lot of replies.
I have searched everywhere and I think this phone is unable to be rooted. I have discovered the UK version of this phone has a locked down bootloader that will not allow me to gain access any way I try. The phone is running Gingerbread 2.3.6, Build No. GRK39F, Kernel Version 2.6.38.6-perf+ and does not have a su.bin on the phone, nor will it allow me access to put one on it. I get permission denied when i try to remount the partition as r/w. When I try to unlock the bootloader, the phone does reboot but not into bootloader mode. This phone only has a hard reset. No other boot modes (just the factory reset). Chmod/chown will not allow me to change permissions. No matter which application I have tried, I am unable to flash anything to the device, since I can not gain root access. The adb root command gives me an error message as well "adbd cannot run as root in production builds." I know I may be a noob, but I have done a ton of research and have not found anything that will help me. Does anyone has any sort of information that will help me root this device? It would be greatly appreciated!
What programs did you use ?

did you try SuperOneClickv2.3.3-ShortFuse.zip ?
did you try vroot ? in my signature (guide too)
if you install root browser it will install basic commands on your phone busybox sqlite etc
also check this out it might be your firmware does not support root and you might need to install v10b or v10c kdz

Yes, I have tried every app. The apps I use are pretty much irrelevant though, since there isn't a su binary to request permission from. without the su binary, no app can gain root access.

superoneclick does not work as it requests permission from the su binary, which does not exist. root browser does not work either, as it does not allow me to change permissions or ownership either. chmod and chown in linux don't work either. I get "permission denied" when attempting those commands. I an currently running on v10c, but I can not flash anything, including firmware, to this device either. There's no way to downgrade or upgrade. I get a parameter error when attempting to and then the kdz updater crashes and forces itself closed every time I have tried.
My phone model is LG Optimus L3 E400. I could fix this by change the default.prop file ro.secure=1 to ro.secure=0, but I can't write to that file. It's read-only and I can't figure out a way to change that.
I'm really about to just throw this phone out. I had no clue that some phones can not be rooted and would have no further research before buying this one.
try this

I don't know what vroot did, but it actually worked. you don't know how long I have spent trying to get this done. so many other programs told me that rooting was complete and didn't actually do anything, that when vroot did, I didn't believe it. I thought i was just stuck with a p.o.s. that I couldn't customize. I really appreciate your hep. Thank you so much!

Also, users should be aware that Kingo root sends your IMEI to an unknown IP address in china during the root process, you have been warned. For more information read the whole OP here
Getting ROOT rights to Android 5.0 Lollipop (KingRoot) It is not my work. Taken from a russian forum.
1.Download and install latest version of Kingroot to phone.
2.Run the application and get the Root. Important - do not restart the device, because it can lead to failure in obtaining Root.
3.Enable "USB debugging" and "unknown sources".
4.Install the latest version from the PC XZDualRecovery to get full access to reading and writing to the section System (connect your phone to a PC via a cable, run the install.bat to select a number " 1 "on the screen to confirm a request for superuser)
5.Phone will reboot automatically to recovery. Install supersu.
6.Boot
Files to root.

Yes I believe so. I have the Kinguser icon in my app draw, but It wont open. I deleted all files associated with King via ES Root Explorer, and cannot find anything.
I still wouldn't recommend anyone else doing this, god knows what information was sent to China upon installing it, but I really wanted root.

I tried that, it needs internet connectivity. However, the reason I allowed this was I understand that this root is based on a Ping exploit, which would need internet connecivity to work.
I figured the risk werent THAT high for me. I dont re-use passwords and no bank details stored on my phone.
Can confirm this method works.
You might want to try going in Airplane mode if you're paranoid for the Chinese. In any case, Kingroot + XZDR + SuperSU 2.49 works perfectly.

Strange, I don't see ZTE Max 2 forum, so naturally I thought I'd post here.
Phone looks great on paper, but not sure if we can mod it. Thanks!
Probably no recovery yet but you can try Kingroot app to root the device. I have the first Zmax since it first came out and it was a pnta to mod. We were able to use Kingroot to root it but have to flash scripts to maintain r/w acess. Don't get me wrong the phone without root is still a great bang for the buck. If I were you I would read through the original Zmax forum.
No root right now. srsroot announced couple time but never worked. Kingroot tried some new way but still failed at the end.
Fastboot disabled
The ZTE ZMax 2 (Z958) from what I have discovered has a disabled fastboot. Without fastboot we will not be able to unlock the boot loader. Which in turn will not allow us to flash a alternative recovery.

has any one found a way to root the z958 yet been browsing for quite sometime and everything i've tried simply doesnt work.

I have a potential root on my zmax 2. I got kingoroot on my computer and rooted it with a charging USB cord. Kingo root said it was successful and its super user app asked for root acces .
However when I download an app that uses roo . It would ask for permission uponnhitting the allow button, after a while it would say access denied.
Also root checkers will say it isn't rooted... I hope this helps at all. I guess you could say its like a semi-root. I do not know, however, if it stays after I reboot the phone
Kingo PC is actually working!!! but the kingo's superuser app has some problem with. you have to Deny and Allow the app that request for root couple times. Or you can uninstall the kingo superuser app in order to get root. But this is only a Temp root. Hopefully someone can compile a twrp for Zmax2 and hopefully we can use flashify to flash twrp..
This would be very nice!

Is anyone still on this? I was able to gain perm root I believe. After reboot, root sticks. I followed a guide to turn off nand / system write protection using ADB, then was able to use PC KingoRoot. In adb I used "adb reboot disemmcwp" to disable write protection. To re-enable it says to issue this command "adb reboot emmcwpenab". i see you have decided to root it now LOL! well. first things first. go into developers options and activate debugging. mode. If there is OEM unlock option, also activate that (after all you are going to root, but be aware because it will erase all your data) Also install the proper drivers for your phone on the computer. All these are critical. after that you should be able to detect your device. But just in case, what update of ADB have you downloaded? I used one from the pixel's section on XDA which allowed me to see the prompt box and give permission to my computer to access and make changes to my device.

Well, actually, I'm not quite ready to root. But I'll be appreciating your input when it comes time. (I forget...are you on a US996?).
Here's what I am trying to do: I am messing with apps to try to improve battery life while still not rooted. I installed Greenify again, hoping I don't have the same problem you and I discussed over in my Journey thread.
So, I just also installed Forcedoze, which typically 'requires' root. But on first run, it says that if not rooted you can give it the rights to do what it needs to do with the following command:
adb -d shell pm grant com.suyashsrijan.forcedoze android.permission.dump

I just found that I can do a similar command for Greenify and have it do an aggressive doze. I think I'll try that. I may pop back into my Journey thread to update what's going on.

Hmm it wouldnt hurt to try. I mean, without root priviliges there are not changes that can affect the system of the phone internally speaking. So... What adb did you download? I used the one from the pixel because my system wouldnt show me the prompt box asking me whether i want to allow my laptop to make changes to my phone.
I'm getting device unauthorized from ADB. I'm Googling now to find the problem. I am NOT getting stack overflow with it.
[fixed]
Rebooted PC and PHone. When I plugged in a pop-up came up on the phone to authorize debugging mode. That had not happened before. That got it to working.

see? hahaha that's what you needed to find. the prompt asking you to authorize. in my case it didnt show it until i used the adb from pixel's forum since it appear that the adb shown on the rooting method's thread is missing a file which wouldnt allow to work properly so, then after i opened the adb , it did ask me for the authorization box
