Google feed on OneUi 3.1 - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Guides, News, & Discu

I have just come back from the Samsung Kiosk closest to me. Checked out the S21 and noticed it now includes the Google feed and gets rid of Samsung daily. Can't wait for this feature to release on the N20U!

First OTA 2.2 Updates by T-Mobile?

Now that the Slide is out, waiting for 2.1-- 2.2 SOON!
The Slide has been released today and it comes with 2.1. Since MY3G is supposed to get 2.1 as well, I wonder how much longer it will take. I haven't rooted since last time I tried, I bricked the phone. So I've been patiently waiting for the official ROM. Come on TMO!
EDIT:
So Tmo heard our prayers and have answered them. They will release 2.2 for Mytouch 3G soon. yes!
I was told by our HTC rep yesterday at my store that they expect to start rolling out updates by 16th but it could take up too a month for everyone to get theirs. So just watch for the alerts.
Re: Now that the Slide is out, waiting for 2.1
I couldn't take waiting, so I just rooted my phone.

Good to know, I'll be on the edge till the 16th. I've waited this long, guess a couple of weeks more to go. Wonder if they'll be a way to disable the Sense UI from it.

so how does it run with no sense and i different launcher
much faster. sense really bogs down the system in all honesty even with the speed it has coming straight from t-mo. My g1 was running just as fast one 1.6 as the slide was with sense on it.
howd you uninstall the the launcher and install another with out root???
Ok heres my story...I called T-Mobile 2 weeks ago, spoke to a rep in Android Tech Support, named Jessica...She said that it was coming to the MyTouch 2.1 most definately, but didnt have any idea as to when......Today I called T-Mobile again (just to hype myself up) and I spoke to a guy named Andre.....He at first said, "There are NO plans to release such an update, where did you hear about this?' I told him The T-Mobile.com forum...and several other sites...He went on to say, "Well that's just here say and thats the public talking, not T-mobile or Android."....Then said, "Wait I'm going to put you on hold and ask another representative who is taking classes for the MyTouch.".....So I wait.....5 minutes later he comes back and says, "Yeah sir there are NO future plans to release such an update."..So I asked, "How do you guys expect us to keep up to date with all your phones, when you release on every other month?"....He said, "Well that's technology sir."....I laughed and hung up.....
I would like other XDA members to call and ask the same ? and see how many different answers we can get....Maybe ONE DAY well get to see our MyTouches updated..
And come to think about it, We never recieved a SINGLE SYSTEM UPDATE EVER for the MyTouch...
I got a unlocked T-Mobile myTouch Fender LE, and currently using it on Wind Mobile network in Canada. If and when T-Mobile releases 2.1 OTA update, will I get a notification as well? Do I have to present physically in US with a T-mobile SIM card to get that update? I have been patiently waiting for the update for quite sometime, and so I didn;t root it yet. Any ideas, guys.

Google the name Andrew Sherrard. He's in charge of this who update operations and what not. He's been spewing info about the 2.1 updates for the past 4 months for the MyTouch. What has he told us? We will get a genius button, we won't get sense ui, an OTA may not be realistic but instead we might need to copy the update to an SD card wipe and flash. Expected to be out in Q2-Q3
Call my T-Mobile store btw.. (503) 362-0251
I'll tell you everything I know and so will everyone else working in the store.

So you're actually able to uninstall Sense UI? Would that leave it with a bare 2.1? If it ends up looking like an N1 that would be brilliant.

Anyway is MT 3G Slide a GSM phone?
I want to import it to Europe, but CDMA phones like Sprint doesent work here...
I've read recent reports that 2.1 won't have sense ui on the mytouch.. that would be sweet.

The reason I chose the Xoom. I will always have the most up to date tablet OS. As long as the Xoom meets the minimum specs that is.

The limited edition which was given out at IO does not come with Touch Wiz. That doesn't say the regular edition won't.
Hard to believe Samsung will be pushing out updates 2 weeks behind Google when they are 6 months+ behind on their older devices. Then again Samsung are all sales and no after care, if they do roll out Honeycomb 3.1 in 2 weeks it'll be back to normal for Ice Cream I'm sure when they are busy selling some other new product!

Huge NEWS from Google I/O

See here for overview of conference.
Live version
In regards to Android updates...
-"New guidelines! Man, this is going to be huge. Google's laying out a timeline for how long it'll take a device to get updated once a new build is let loose, as well as how long it'll be updated beyond that."
-"These shown will be provided timely updates for at least 18 months provided the hardware can handle it. Whoa. WHOA!" -Samsung included here
http://media.xda-developers.com/images/editor/separator.gif
-"The keynote's moving on, but our head is still spinning here. And we're sure the heads of Epic 4G owners are as well." Engadget targeting us.
Linky.
So it looks like Google is taking care of fragmentation. Also they announched Ice Cream Sammmmicch and their goals for unity. In addition, Google Music. Quick get your invites at http://music.google.com
Also, looks like Google has prepared a sweet Arduino dev kit for USB + bluetooth (in the future) for Android devices. Definitely a ton of potential.
Also, they announced [email protected] automation for Android tablets/phones.
And yes... I capitalized NEWS versus Huge, just to be different.
Good for Google for taking the proper steps to mend the biggest problem with their platform.

Free Galaxy Tab 10.1 for attendees! I'm jealous!
Good stuff. So I guess the "Samsung will never update past Froyo" crap can be put to an end for good. Sprint/Samsung both on board (maybe forced by Google, I don't care how) to support updates 18 months into the life of the devices (if they can handle it) which they SHOULD when they took away the yearly upgrades from most folks.
Also, the movie rental thing Google is releasing looks NICE. So much for Samsung's media hub. Google isn't charging an arm an a leg for rentals either.

I would think that about a year ago, but the AT&T+T-Mob and Verizon+iPhone make Sprint the natural choice for stronger Google ties, as it needs the "best" hardware and software to compete on a level with the two giants. This process has already started with Voice integration and releasing a Sprint Nexus
The closer Google holds Sprint, the better it is for us and the better/faster the updates come to the Goog Network.

At the same time, that puts Sprint as the only major carrier without an iphone...and I hope they dont go deeper into trying to compete with it by putting all their resources into 1 phone basket... like they did with the Instinct, Pre, Evo...
Now if the carriers and manufactures can come to a agreement on how to properly handle dud phones. I by no means hope there is another debacle like the Samsung Moment was but it is a shame what some had to go through to get rid of that lemon and stupider Sprint kept selling it even though its issues were documented to the umteenth degree.

I don't want to burst any bubbles, but everything I have read about the 18 month update thing pertains to "new" devices. Not saying they won't apply the same standard to our phones and other phones, but the announcement was from here on that new devices would stay updates for at least 18 months.

Text Reflow on Browser?

I was just wondering if the stock browser on the Note III supports pinch to zoom text reflow ala HTC?
My Note II didn't until the 4.1.2 update, where it incorporated tap to resize. Still nowhere near as good as HTC but good enough. However, I've heard the GS4 and Note III don't even support this anymore therefore I'm sure Samsung will inexplicably remove this feature when they eventually update the Note II!
Thanks for any help.

It has to go from google to samsung then to sprint then us? Call me skeptical but I don't see this getting to us before Jan, even Feb. Good progress though on googles part.
edit: deleted comment. I was just being a grump.
It sure looks promising. The reskinned apps like Messaging look nice, but I like the priority senders in the Messages app. If they do away with that, I'll go right to hangouts for SMS/MMS probably as default. The dialer looks slick too. I'm not a fan of TW, but this doesn't look super horrible. I use Nova anyways, like most people.

Hey the longer it takes it will give the devs time to catch up to the new OS. Those behind that video state that Samsung is testing it, then Sprint adds some bloat and we finally get a release. Samsung may start next month for their own versions once they get the Note 4 out the door. Then a month or two afterwards the providers will start their releases. Once we start seeing that then we know we are in the que.

I'm extremely particular about MMS pictures and group texts. My family can only figure out how to send texts and haven't mastered Hangouts - very frustrating. I have had issues with MMS display and sending in 8sms, Evolve, and others. I find the stock Samsung Messages app is the most reliable and quickest. Especially with Sprint WiFi calling, it flies.
