Finally bought a 3g/wifi MZ601 Xoom on Ebay which was shipped from HongKong.
Plugged the Optus 3G Sim that was in my work Thinkpad into it and it worked straight out of the box.
My problem is that it's on 3.01 and wont update to 3.1
Build number is H.6.1-38-9 which suggests that it is either a Telstra build or a build designated "Retail Other International".
Firmware version is GAS_ASIA_USAEVRSTURTIRD_P016.
I've tried the little trick of rolling the system clock forward a few days , etc with no luck.
Maybe I should just borrow a Telstra SIM from someone and see if it will pick up an update while on the Telstra network.
Running out of ideas, I don't really want to have to root it.
it'll get updates based on the devices region - not your sim.
3.1 hasn't gone out to (many) places that are outside the US yet.
I'm sick of waiting for firmware updates for official EE firmware, BTU has had 2 since EE's firmware was last updated and that's not including the Nougat beta updates.
Has anyone got VoLTE working on EE using BTU firmware?
Works on Nougat beta, BTU, UK EE, wifi calling too

In the latest beta volte does not work. Samsung disabled it becuase ee does not want people with unbranded phones or phones which have not been purchased from them directly to have the volte feature.

Really? That's disgusting behaviour on behalf of EE. When the S8 comes out i'll only be one year into a two year contract so will probably end up buying it outright in which case it will be unbranded and if I can't use VoLTE i'll be seriously pissed off.

I'll be in the same boat. I always buy my phones outright and use a sim only contract I hope EE change their decision because in the week I had volte available to me in the android n beta it made a huge difference. The call was clearer and I could still search the web at full 4g Speed.
I assume right now, if you flash the s7 edge within EE firmware from sam mobile volte works fine ?
I'm on btu right now, tried the nougat beta and on beta 2 volte works fine on EE, but since beta 3 and beta 4 they stopped it.
So I'm thinking of flashing EE firmware.
I use BTU firmware with my original EE CSC and I have VoLTE working fine
How can you check it's working Fine? I got my phone from carphone warehouse. Sim free and no volte settings?
Sent from my SM-G935F using XDA-Developers mobile app
You need to have the EE firmware installed as far as I can tell. Only devices purchased directly from EE have the feature available.

can you flash from BTU to EE firmware and have it working?
OK I know it's taken a while, but for no reason and without me changing any settings, a VOLTE icon has just appeared on my top notification bar. I am running BTU which was flashed when I first bought the phone (SM-G935FD model) CSC changed as well, had a few OTA updates including the Nougat 7.0 January Security Build. I am on EE btw. I still can't find any settings to switch it on or off, but at least I have it now.

Hi everyone,
After switching from the Dutch provider KPN to Vodafone I lost the ability to connect to LTE/4G networks. On KPN in both Stock and RR remix LTE was working perfectly without any problems.
What can be the problem? My first thought is that Vodafone is using different bands than KPN, witch are not supported by the Axon 7. But all the Vodafone bands should be supported.
Is there a frequency band or channel that is somehow blocked a custom rom? Also my device is listed as a A2017U instead of a A2017G, is this an issue? Looking on this forum it seems not really of an issue. I flashed the right Modem in TWRP before installing the ROM.
Is there anyone that knows how to fix this issue?
Hey Maxhuisman,
A few months ago i switched from stock 6.0.1 MM rom to RR Nougat and after that Darkrom and a few others. No matter which kind of bootloaders/bootstacks/modems i flashed, the 4G/LTE data service from Vodafone NL just did not work even even after making sure the right LTE bands were enabled in the free app Network Guru. After asking for advise in a few other treads i was told to go back to a stock or near stock rom.
I am currently on Sl1m's B08 Nougat rom where my 4G+ worked instantly after flashing. I am not going to try other roms for now until i'm 100% sure that vodafone LTE works on those roms.

Really? That's too bad to hear
Thanks for your reply, I guess I have to go back to stock or to Sl!m then. Very strange that it is not working with Vodafone.
Hi everyone,
I've just bought a new xt1641 in Canada and it is presently on marshmallow 6.0.1. It's been two days now and the system didn't proposed any updates to Nougat even if i manually do the check via Parameters/About/check for updates. It always say that the system is up to date.
Is it normal?

You can try to force the update by using a VPN app and connect via India, Germany or other countries.
Otherwise you can flash the stock rom manually https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/stock-rom-npjs25-93-14-4-march-1-t3608138
Is there a difference between the version pushed by my carrier and the one from the link you provided? Do I need to be rooted for this?
I've just tried to connect to a VPN in India and it's still say that my system is up to date.

Can we see the About Phone screen please? You can just take and upload a screenshot of the Settings>about phone, which should show the software channel and the current build you have.
Also, when you're searching for updates, do you have a valid and active SIM card in your device?
Here's my about page. At first, i didn't had a sim card but inserted one today. If I don't have one installed, my phone would never update? I thought it was Motorola who send the update and not my carrier.

As far as I know, updates should work regardless of SIM. However, it may be that there's a specific build targeted towards users on a certain carrier, that would require an active SIM to download. We saw this on the Moto G5 Plus with Verizon, though I don't know if that happened with our devices.
There seems to be not much information present about your build (MPJ24.139-13), any luck getting updates with a SIM installed?
The sim card was actually installed when I took the screenshot.
How can I know if I have a special build from my carrier? Because the phone is coming from a different carrier than the one I use presently. The phone had never been connected with the original carrier.

Hmm, that should be working then, that's odd. Especially as a retail Canada model, and you've demonstrated it's carrier unlocked.
What carrier are you on now and what was the original? I imagine only the carrier would know about special builds.
There are a few things to try:
Remove SIM, check for updates over WiFi. You may wish to reboot and check again after removing the SIM.
Insert SIM and recheck over WiFi (which you've already done), perhaps reboot with the SIM in and check.
Purchase a cheap SIM (e.g. a pay as you go SIM) from the original carrier and recheck.
I have an s7 edge handset that was originally on the uk Three network, but is now sim unlocked (I can use an O2 sim in it with no issues, but it shows the 3 splash screen on boot) but it hasnt yet recieved the oreo update,m and given it only got nougat in February, I doubt we will see it soon
So Ive been reading up about manually flashing Oreo via Odin, as there are releases of Oreo for other uk versions (unlocked/other networks etc.), and it seems I cn flash a BTU uk version ( G935FXXU2ERE8 )onto my Three network S7 edge (G935FXXS2DRA9 ) using Odin
I just want to double check that this will work, wont brick the phone, and will essentially turn it into a factory unlocked model, which will recieve OTAs via samsung directly.
Thanks to anyone who can help
