Ok so yesterday my phone was dropped down the stairs in my house, and it looks like the touch sensor has stopped working. I'm not too worried about it since I was able to get the purchase reimbursed and my new one is on the way.
However, as of right now I have my old phone which apart from the touch screen is still perfectly functional. Is there a way for me to extract any data from it? I have a lock screen and since I can't unlock it I was wondering if there were any alternatives to do this. If that's not possible, would there be a way to factory reset the device without the touch screen via adb or fastboot?
Does a USB OTG Cable plus a regular USB Mouse work? It works for me out of the box, and may for you.
Also, is your bootloader unlocked?

I don't have a USB OTG cable, so I can't really do that, but yes the phone is bootloader unlocked and rooted. I'm not sure if there's a way to use twrp without the touch screen though.

TWRP should start up adb by default. Just give it about 10 or 20 seconds after boot. You should be able to adb pull anything you want off the phone without any touches.

I just flashed a new kernel and had to boot into TWRP to reflash SuperSU. I confirmed it starts up adb by default. It seemed to make internal and external storage available by MTP too, but I didn't transfer any files to make sure it was working.
Good luck. :good:
I have google this for hours with nothing! I connect my Nexus 6P to my PC and it doesn't recognize it and not only that but the usb connection options doesn't show up on the phone either. I am completely lost!
I have installed the drivers multiple times, i have looked up the mtp inf drivers and nothing happens. When I connect it to the computer it only says chaging on the lockscreen thats it! I have no idea how to fix this. I am trying to go back to stock because i lost root flashing a custom nougat build. everything works except twpt won't boot up anymore and just hangs at the splash screen. and of course I don't have root. can anyone please help me! thanks

Have you tried a different cord? If its not the cord the inspect the port on your phone to make sure no lint or crud is physically blocking some pins. Do you have developer options enabled? Maybe something got changed in there. Its never happened to me so these are just guesses. Maybe somebody smarter can help.

Mine gives a notification that the phone is charging when I connect to computer but if I click the notification it gives me the option to transfer files instead. You do have USB Debugging enabled on the Developers Menu, correct?
Hello guys
I have the same problem on my phone i tried everything i found on google and other forums, and the last option that i couldn't do is to send my phone to replace the usb port, but i have no warranty as i bought it already used. It's a shame that no one can find a solution here especially that the other forums at least tried to fix for some people but not here on xda which is the first in the world.

You should try to go to fastboot and connect it since it loads low level drivers. Have you read the linked post and tried the steps?

Sure, that's possible, you can try to mount an usb otg stick or similar otg within twrp.

Really hope thats not the case.
I simply cant check OTG within Twrp->mount when connected to pc. Aint got another OTG device. I hope there is some other way i can fix my problem because i dont want to spend money on repairing my connector. Thanks for your effort!

OTG won't work if connected to a PC, only storage and controller devices, no clients. you need a USB stick or similar, please do some research about usb OTG if it's not clear

If you have a chance to simply try it on another PC, do it. Otherwise Firewall, drivers etc should be your next focus.

Glad you got it working now! Maybe you can edit the tread title and add [SOLVED] at the beginning to help others solve their issues
I am having the same problem: no mtp, no adb, no fastboot, no otg
The phone charges with dash without any problems. I already tried 3 different computers (win 10 and Linux mint). Cant think of anything else than a Hardware issue of my USB Port.
My biggest problem is not getting adb, so i can't install twrp at the moment.
Are there any recommendations for me?

Yes I did and the difference between OP and me is the non functional OTG.
I just thought you guys might have another ace up your sleeves.

I'm not really sure, whether my port is broken or not. Shortly after I posted here, I found out, that I missed the Standard USB-Protocol-Setting in developer options (it was checked as charge). So I changed it and voila, USB worked!
But then I tried to install twrp (which was successful at first, but seems to be overwritten again by stock recovery) and now I can't get my device to connect again. I tried to disconnect, connect with other PCs, change the usb-debugging and standard usb-protocoll, connect in fastboot-mode, nothing works.

It's me again, I solved my problem!
When I tried to connect yesterday I noticed that my phone always charged and then immediately stopped charging again. It was charged to ~80% and didn't go any further. So I thought maybe the battery calibration is faulty, which can happen when you never fully charge. So I emptied the battery, charged it while phone off and tadaaa everything works.
It seems my phone interrupted the usb connection because it tried to charge my phone over 80% and the controller stopped it.

Hello guys got into rare problem. Want to save my brother files but his device is half bricked he cant use app or connect it to pc since ghost toch and after i select some stuff like developer options it crash app. on other apps says "wait untill device is fully rebooted before opening app
so does it ghost touch after connecting to usb?
you can factory reset it with miflash, if that's not gonna solve the issue you can try to connect mouse via usb c - otg adapter
