great photo but a litlle noisy....:good:
Not impressed. It looks blurry and seems to be held on a tripod that is slightly wavering in the wind. The phone goes to utter ****e when a normal person holds the phone with normal shake and, dear god, tries to pan even the slightest, because thats what people do with their phones. The framerate goes down the crapper and the image ghosts and artifacts like crazy. This is all due to incompetent software too, not the camera module itself. Even a budget Samsung phone can have super smooth and uniform night video, even though the quality is meh.

You got a slow internet connection? Maybe try running the clip at 1080p resolution instead of 240p lol.
Not gonna lie, the OP's video was so-so. I mean I have seen worse, but my s3 takes as good of video honestly.
I don't believe their video recording was one of their big selling points anyway, more so about the bigger pixels, screen and blinkfeed and actually better battery life for a change....oh and design.

You have seen worse, but apparently you don't know that the bigger pixels directly translate to better low light video?
It's quite possible that conditions were a lot darker to the person actually taking the video.

Cool story, do you have the phone? If not, shut up because you clearly have no evidence to back your position. If anything, this person is probably shaking quite a bit because the OIS isn't compensating for the motion.
To the person that dismisses the video, turn on HD viewing on YouTube. It makes it leaps and bounds better. I'm going to assume that the person who uploaded this video, did so in low quality.
This will be my next phone as soon as my upgrade hits in June!

Its a 4MP camera guys, and its competing against phones with 8MP plus cameras, and its still holding its own.
One thing I've noticed about the camera is that some pictures end up over exposed in normal lighting conditions if I hit the screen to focus in on something, I then have to point the camera away into a darker scene for the exposure to sort itself out. I posted some pics somewhere in the forum of a black steering wheel looking kinda grey.

Probably owns a samsung.
And i agree opinions on the phone are valid, provided it's done in a sensible fashion.
Flat out bashing will only wind people up, with them running the risk of being banned.

As far as photos go from this phone, they're very nice, but sadly, the purple hue is still highly visible in both shots (especially in the area of your cats ears)
I absolutely LOVE my Moto X, but the camera makes me sad. I hope for a fix in an upcoming firmware update.
P.S: Your cat is pretty

Sadly, it's one of the biggest problems this camera has. The problem is more evident in scenes with a lot of white objects or backgrounds.
Take the attached image as an example (yep, I brought Starbucks into a bar, lol)
Thankfully this is something that will likely be fixed in a firmware update.
No offense the first pic you posted is absolutely terrible. The colors are muted out and the entire thing is red.
Unless you're telling me you have red paper towels in your house.
as long as we're doing this. I know nothing about photography, i just thought these were decent pics
the third one i only put because somethign about the water and the way it caught the bird in flight so crisp i thought was amazing
This is with a quick auto correct of some colors and look at the difference. And it still looks like it's got a bit of a red tint.

no issues with the tint... I can fix that in 2 clicks. my problem is the "dry brush filter" look. You can't get those pixels back.
Youre all making laugh, I guess a benefit to being color blind is I don't notice the purple hue:sly:
Sent On my Rooted Moto X
It's a phone that has a camera, I don't expect to shoot National Geographic on this thing, so for me the camera is just fine.
A trick that you can try to prevent some of the redness or out of balance colors (not the purple hue) is to cover the light sensor on the front off the phone with your finger and then find something white to aim at and rebalance the shot before taking the picture. The sensor is to the left of the earpiece. It seems to help a lot when taking pictures in rooms lit by yellower CFLs.

Regarding all of the complaints of the Moto X's camera, are (some or all of) these things fixable by software/firmware updates or is it in the hardware? Anyone know? Details would be nice. Thanks.

I think this is a pretty bad attitude. There are decent cameras in phones that cost just as much or less. There's no reason to make excuses, the camera can be bad, but don't write it off like it's not important or they couldn't include a decent sensor.
Just got my Z5 and loving it ... except the unit I got DOES seem to suffer from some left-hand blur Kind of sad since when I was testing the unit in the store there didn't seem to be any problem (probably I was looking at around the middle part or probably because I was only using the brochures there as my test shots). Granted, I did come across and pass 2 units that had worse and more obvious blurs than the one I have.
Here are links to the image (right-side up first, then upside-down): http://imgur.com/a/gc1qI
The blur is seen near the top-left corner and also a little bit on the bottom-left corner. This can be seen by observing the leaves and grass. Seeing as the blur is only on the left-hand side, I'm guessing it isn't just due to the wide lens?
I'm a bit troubled if I should have it replaced or not since as mentioned earlier, I came across units with worse blur. Should I have it replaced? Is there really a Z5 / Z5c there with 'perfect' lens with no blur?
Thanks everyone!
They look normal to me, TBH. I could show you pictures from couple other phones with this kind of 'slight' blur. We're talking landscape shots here - not macros. The third one does have some blurs but I could see blur across the whole edge & few other spots (proly due to moving objects and/or shaky hands). But it's your call anyway

Oh really? Probably I'm just nitpicking but it doesn't hurt to be safe. To be honest, my Z1 has a much more pronounced blur than this which I didn't really notice until now when I tried comparing it and looking at the photos carefully.
Thanks for checking it out!
Bro it is software default not hardware because if you turn the phone 180 degre you have the same point blurred . It is focus fault waiting to new update in the coming days

Sure it's a software problem?
Not a misalignment lenses?
It doesn't look it has blurring -- the slight distortion on the corners tend to be an effect of wide angle lenses

Thanks I can relate because I also had a Z1 that had blurring and didn't realize it till I was comparing its shots with the Z5. I was surprised since I was using it and the camera quite happily for almost 2 years and thought it was normal.
Lucky me I guess for getting a non-defective camera on my Z5

That camera module is damaged. You can see the black lines across the image. If not by factory fault then that can happen if you expose the camera to direct sunlight for to long or IR light like the strobe/laser "cannons" in some concerts and clubs. If that hits the sensor directly then bye bye..!
I took a picture hoping to check if I have the camera blur. Can someone help out? The blur on the plant on the right side is caused by taking the pic close to it. I tried to take it at 180 degrees (2nd pic) but I didn't manage to take a pic close to the other one.

I'm going to buy the Xperia Z5 in a neighboring country. Arrived and the store owner sent me photo confirming that Rev 4! The Rev 4 is suffering from blur in the camera? It is software or hardware problem?
Rev 2 seems to be the best right now.. I haven't seen one in the thread that suffers from Camera Blur.

Looking all over the internet, I have not come to the conclusion it comes to hardware or software problem! I'm definitely scared to buy the device!
are people just being paranoid? All circular lens have bluring on corners right?
Looking at the Lumia 950 samples

there are bluring on all corners and it is using Carl Zeiss lens where people say it is suppose to be the best.

Maybe different standards as i do not have the same scenary as you have, and some are taking pics in 4:3 which isn't affected with blur while others are using 16:9 which is affected.

Blur, and uneven blur is lens alignment issue, and mine has strong blur on the left, right has normal lens fall off blur.
This may not be normal! It is a hardware problem for sure!
Well I'm going to chime in that on my rev 4 I'm not seeing any blur. But I prefer to shoot in 4x3 anyway.

Sure. Here's a few I took today. Took in wide so you can see the far edges. There seems to be a tiny bit on the left but it looks about even with the right so I'm hesitant to say it's the problem. If it is, it's quite minor to some other ones I've seen.
Edit: Ugh, I see the XDA app smashed these down...I'll upload elsewhere shortly...
Okay, here you can check em out: https://goo.gl/photos/ZeU2KxxogdWPwWTx6
If anything, with the cloudy skies making the light muddy you can see how nasty Sony's overprocessing can get.

a00r thanks for your pictures but to see if your camera is blurry or not you need to post full resolution photos.
I know the S7 has a wide angle camera, and this is the result of long / narrow faces.
Or this is how it appears on mine.
Wondering if anyone has stumbled across any mods or anything?
I don't normally do selfies, but I just tried and wow!
Someone suggested taking the picture at arm length and cropping the picture, while this works, its not a solution for native apps that use the camera.
I.e. Snap chat etc.
Had anyone has the same experience and had any solutions or luck?

I asked myself the same question. Its cool to get more of the background on the picture, but for little bit closer takes it looks just stretched and unreal.
haha, well i have a rather round face.
But when i take a selfie using this camers, It looks like i have to eat for a few months. LOL!
Might work well for woman Samsung, But am not keen on looking as skinny as possible
Are you guys also expierencing with the front camera makes your face out of focus. Example if i take pictures with front camera my eyebrows, nose and beard is all blury and out of focus?
This kind of problem need more attention because ive heard that a lot of s7 and s7 edge users with this problem. Yet there is no update to fix this.

As another user suggested, Sounds like filters.
Samsung added a few, If enabled can remove wrinkles and marks from your face.
At the cost of looking plastic........ lol
Yes it may be a software fault, eventhough beauty mode is off it's still on somehow.
I know someone who complained it and they changed the camera, the fault was still present.
And my brother got fed up that this issue wouldn't get fixed so he ended up selling his s7 edge.
Could you guys try a selfie and look in the details of your eyebrows look how out of focus and blury it is, and details around hair, beard is oversaturated making the picture look distorted and poor.
