Weird lock / unlock problems - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Hi all,
Just got a used LG G6 is excellent condition. Everything is working fine except I'm having a few problems unlocking the phone.
Basically, waking the screen is really hard. I have every possible way of waking the screen turned on, but none of them work.
To get the screen to wake I have to press the power button once slowly, then press it again to wake the screen, then if I press again it will pick up the fingerprint and unlock.
KnockON doesn't work at all, the volume key shortcuts do nothing, face unlock does nothing, and just picking up and trying to use fingerprint doesn't work.
Also, Always On Display doesn't work either (totally black screen)
The power button seems to function fine as I only need to press it once to lock the phone.
Any ideas what might be causing this?
(Android 9, h870)

Screen lock unusable?

With all that screen to touch, having this thing wake up in your pocket (or holster in my case) it bad - it registers keypresses all over the place, and so far it's deleted appointments and other fun stuff for me.
There is the screen lock (hold down right-most softkey a few seconds) but for me at least if an alert wakes the phone, the screen activates and looks normal, but all hardkeys are disabled. Can't even shut the phone down, have to hit the soft reset button, so conveniently located under the battery cover (argh, talk about dumb design choices...)
So anyone have any ideas on the screen lock? I'd even be willing to dedicate the left-most soft-key long-press to a third party lock, as long as it works properly.
u can use s2u2 IPHONE like screen lock
Hold the hang up button to lock, to unlock press the word unlock and a screen will apear saying To unlock device Tap unlock.
Yeah I did that, the hold hang up button thing... that's what's partly unlocking itself, which is a pain to say the least.
Gonna try Throttlelock. Haven't found any really Manila-lookalike skin yet but it seems to do what I want - lock the device - and even adds a little security.
And what about just clicking once on the power button after locking the device using the hold hang up thing?
Doesn't it does what you need? Press again to wake up the mobile?

No, what happen is: I hold down end call to get the device to lock. Then I tap the power button to close down the screen too.
However, a reminder kicks in and that brings the screen back online AND live, so touching it can do stuff. But, the device is still somehow "locked"... except the only thing that is well and truly locked are all the buttons. Power button, volume buttons, even the softkeys on the front, none of them do anything, but the screen works only too well.
There is now way I found to recover from that state except a soft reset. That boots the device - in locked mode, so I have to hit Unlock and then tap the button on the middle of the screen.
I need a lock that is lock, ie it doesn't activate the screen or buttons no matter what, until I unlock it myself. Looks like Throttlelock may be the answer though.

Home Button Issue (fixed)

I just got the Nexus S today. I've played around with it and love it so far, but I have one problem: when I press my Home button in an app, it doesn't throw me back to the home screen. It vibrates when I touch it (so it responds), but other than that it doesn't do anything. Also, my screen wouldn't lock or show the unlock slider (after waking up). It would just turn on to a home screen, even after setting a PIN lock.
Ok, so before I posted this message I decided to restart the phone. Home button now works, screen locks beautifully. Glad I don't have to go get a new one! Posting this still in case others have the same problem.
TLDR: Home button didn't work, screen didn't lock even with Pin. Solution: restart your phone.

[Q] Hardware Key turn off - deactivate?

Hi all,
Today I noticed that the HD2 switched off when I had it in my trouser pocket.
I noticed that it is possbile to switch off the device even if the WP7 screen is locked.
Is it possible to deactivate the function (only switching of the device) of the key if the lockscreen is active?
Didn't find anything....
+1 for this, I've had it turn off and reboot in my pocket too!
I noticed you can unlock the device by pressing the power button (screen turns on) and then long press the camera button (device unlocks and goes to camera)

I don't believe it properly unlocks the device, just enables the camera.
Or maybe it can be changed something in the registry...
Button needs to be pressed much more longer time!

I am having this same problem. Phone turns off even when locked if the power button is held for a few seconds.
Is this a generic WP7 problem, or just HD2?

screen wake test anyone?

Hello everyone here,
I just run into trouble - a power button on my Galaxy J5 failed. Few days ago home button failed too.
Device is still on and running, so I need a quick check for not locking myself out.
1) after phone was locked - can volume keys wake the screen? (so I can enter e.g. an unlock pattern)
2) does J5 require to press power or home button to turn it on (e.g. after power down)
3) does J5 require to press power or home button to wake screen after it is restarted?
also, if anyone would like to suggest...
4) how can I access restart menu? or just restart the device?
5) any other issues I can run into?
6) can the be a software issue?
7) can a non-affiliated repair shop get this easily fixed or would they probably make things worse?
any advice is welcome!
phone is not rooted. Lock screen security (pattern) is now deactivated.
Model SM-J510FN, J510FNXWUAQG1, Android 6.0.1,
thanks!
Plug in charging, if it wakes up its working!!
thanks for feedback!
yes, it is working I installed Gravity Screen app and it seems to be doing fine with turning screen on and off.
The only question left is what to expect if the battery should run off one day or I'll need to reboot the phone or take out the battery... I am afraid it expects pressing power button to start booting, but its not working... any ideas?

Yep.. Then you'll have to take it to the service centre, that's the only solution I can think of.. :silly:
today the power button misteriously started to act again. I'll stick to Gravity app for waking the screen and hope the button will work in rare cases when needed after powerdown....
thanks everyone for suggestions!

[BUG?] Screenfreeze on Mi 9T

Hi, I have recently purchased a Mi 9T and everything works fine with the phone, but I have this bug, that I didn't see in any post from this forum.
Every time the screens goes black (sleep), it doesn't recognize any input anymore. The phone still works and I can receive calls, notifications and so. I can turn on the camera, make screen captures, and everything, but only because I can do this with the volume and power buttons.
I tried Flashing the device, but when I get to the recovery screen of TWRP for the first time (where you need to make a swipe) the screens goes black for a second and doesn't let me do the swipe.
Any ideas of what the problem can be? (and the solution if it's possible).
If not just press the power button again ...same things happens to me, once i rebot into recovery it goes black and nothing happens, then i need to press the power button to "unlock" the screen again.
had similar experience: sometime after I lock the device (by hitting power button) and screen goes off, it input my finger on the fingerprint sensors it does not recognize and unlock (not even fingerprint animation actually). Other than this I can still hit the power button so that the screen lights up and then unlock with fingerprint.
But, this is just sometimes, not always.
