I'm a newbie, using Fido Liquid e 2.1.
I want to remove some Apps that comes in stock (Acer Reg., Acer Settings, Acer Sync, Email, nemoPlayer, RoadSync, Spinlets, ufFooz).
Is rooting the only way to allow me to remove those?
Also, how can I stop some programs from autostart, if possible.
Thanks!
Ken
I rooted my phone and I want to the same as you want. Anyone know how?
You can use Titanium backup as it allows to uninstall system app

Confirmed (agree), Titanium is the easiest way and it does require root access.

Before I upgrade to 2.2, I used Universal Androot and removed some stock apps (using Titanium backup).
I was worried that I might not be able to upgrade it to 2.2 stock. So I do the followings:
1. Used Universal Androot to revert the phone to unroot status
2. Installed the stock apps back to the phone
3. Removed Universal Androot (just in case)
And I successfully upgraded to 2.2, no problem whatsoever.
Then I used Titanium Backup to uninstall all Acer apps (except Acer Registration, which I don’t know how to remove), Tasks, RoadSync, Urfooz, Spinlets, Email, even the Android keyboard (I use the hacked HTC Touch IME for 2.2).
Now the phone loads fast!
BTW, some apps will still show itself after the above procedures, use “Manage applications” in “Settings” to remove it again.

You need to root your phone. You need to install "Malez recovery" it's easy. I don't think you guys realize how easy it is, there is an installer. Just put your phone in usb debugging mode, install your phone drivers, plug in your phone, install Malez. Instructions are on his page. Then you can use titanium backup the get rid of crapware and do backups. Don't bother with task killer aps unless your really know what you're killing. You could do more harm than good.
Cheers.
Hello,
Do you know in titanium backup de name of acer register to unnistall ?
thanks !!!!
Some people are saying that Kapersky is a huge CPU and battery hog.
I can't find a way to unistall it or even set it not to run on startup
Has anyone tried to unistall or shut down Kapersky?
I can't wait for a stable root, first thing I do will be to get rid of the dam thing
Any idea?

In order to uninstall Kaspersky Mobile Security 9.0 (Android OS) from your smartphone, perform the following actions 1. Enable display of Privacy Protection. 2. Open All applications > Settings > Applications > Application manage > Kaspersky Mobile Security 9. 3. In the Application info window press the Uninstall button. 4. On request enter your secret code and press Exit. 5. In the dialog window with the question Uninstall application? press OK. 6. Click Ok after you have received the Uninstall finished! message.
Hope it helps.

This is a preinstalled system application. You cannot uninstall it.

You can only uninstall if you root your device, then use titanium backup to delete the app. Though I'd backup all apps first, that way you can restore them, if you ever had to return it for whatever reason.

Well, if you didn't take the latest OTA, you can still root, and its straight forward.

You can root with the update too.
I'm not a noob here, but I admit I prolly sound like one with this question...
With all of the warnings and advice about proceeding with caution due to no boot unlocker currently, is it safe to install certain root only apps? I'd like to install Greenify to help with battery life on my S4 (not that it's bad, but Greenify kicks butt).
I'm rooted, but I listen to the feedback about what could go wrong and I (like everyone) don't want to hose up my phone.
Thanks in advance for any and all responses.

By root-only, what exactly do you mean?
For example, I used TitaniumBackup to restore all of my old apps from my last phone, as well as Accounts & SMS/MMS.
Everything root-related at this point is a risk, as you can't flash a new ROM or even factory reset.

"Root-only" meaning TiBu, ROM Toolbox PRO, Root Explorer, etc. Apps that will not work unless you are rooted. I can't seem to find anyone having any adverse effects in my research (which is good). Just looking for direct confirmation.
Good to hear you used TiBu, for example, with no issues I assume.

Nope, no issues. I also froze a few bloatware apps within TitaniumBackup, no negative consequences yet.
I might be wary of something like Rom Toolbox PRO as it delves farther into the ROM, but Root Explorer should be fine. Just don't edit system files, as some have reported issues with editing things such as the DPI.

I don't need hangouts so I uninstalled it but now it's giving me a force close every time I turn the screen on. Is there a way to get it back? I'm running a deodex rom.

Tried to from the play store but it didn't work. It's sort of a user app instead of a system app at that point. I even tried moving the apk to /system/app to no avail

are you on a custom rom? if so just reflash the rom. (you probably won't even need to do a full wipe)

Yeah but this rom was a pain to install. Failed in installing a bunch and then finally got it to work. I'm too lazy to redownload everything and set up my phone. Takes me about 2-3 hours

you can do a dirty flash (without wiping) so you won't lose all your settings. it's usually not recommended becuase it can cause FC, but since you're already getting them, I'd say that its worth a shot

i'm sure there's some way to put the Hangouts app back into the app folder and change it's permissions, but i always end up screwing that up lol. that's all the advice i have. good luck :good:
here is the process to "push" a system app to your phone.
1. download the ROM or GAPPS that hangouts originally came from to your sdcard or extsdcard if you don't already have it
2. using root explorer or es file explorer, navigate to system/app in the rom or GAPPS zip file and extract hangouts.apk
3. copy or move hangouts.apk into system/app on your phone
4. change permissions to -rw-r--r--
5. reboot and it should work fine
Guys, suddenly, I became unable to uninstall system apps. I tried differents apps, but no sucess. Im rooted with magisk 15.3. The app that I always use, is root uninstaller. Is there anyone here that are facing this boring problem too?
Anyone?

Tried, titanium not worked too. Debloater, dosent has some system apps that I want remove.
Were you using a different rom when you were able to remove systems apps before? I dont know too much about how android file system work but I know some roms does not let you touch system apps even if you have root.
