How to activate VoWifi with root - Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro (Redmi K30 Pro) Guides, News, &

Here's my story.
My carrier (hungarian Digi) supports VoWifi because their coverage isn't that good in the country. But, since the Poco F2 Pro isn't on their certified device list, I wasn't able to use it. After some research I found several possible solutions and with the following steps now I can use it, even with airplane mode on. This guide will make some change on your EFS partition, I suggest you to make a backup (I didn't, lol).
I did this with lineage-18.1-20210731-nightly-lmi-signed on my phone.
1.: Download the latest QPST Tool v2.7.496
2.: Install the driver and select the ETHERNET one.
3.: Install the QPST Tool.
4.: Restart your PC.
5.: Connect your phone to your PC.
6.: Open the windows command line and copy the following:
adb shellsusetprop sys.usb.config diag,serial_cdev,rmnet,adb
7.: Start the PDC from your start menu. If everything went good, you can choose your device from the dropdown list. Now's the tricky part. I suggest you to search for "your carrier+vowifi+pdc". What worked for me in the next step not necessarily work for you.
8.: Search for SmartFren_VoWifi_Comercial (Please, do your research. This is working for the hungarian Digi.).
9.: Right click/SetSelectedConfig/Sub0
10.: Right click/SetSelectedConfig/Sub1
11.: Click on the Activate button on the bottom. Boom, VoWifi is working. Good job
2021. 08. 16.
It's working on the latest official LOS rom.
With xiaomi.eu i had to type the commands in about 20 times before PDC was able to see my phone, but it's working.
I wasn't able to see my phone on the PDC with the last Evox rom.

Part 2 because I can't make a post with more than 2000 characters (lol):
This is the most simple explanation. This was the first time I used this program, so I'm not your guy if you don't understand something
*This worked for me, but please don't start to mess around with your phone if you're not confident enough. I'm not responsible for any damage you'll make. Please, don't forget to search for what PDC profile you'll need to activate. I'm not sure what will happen if you start to enable random settings.*

Porque no haces un tutorial hablas de bajar cosas pero de dónde los sacamos

MOD EDIT: English Translation Below
Because you don't do a tutorial, you talk about downloading things, but where do we get them from?

Edit: Added in the su line (i think i forgot it), now it should work for everybody.

Hi there
I have got the following error message in cmd: "/system/bin/sh: su: inaccessible or not found". It seems my phone is not rooted and this is the reason for that message, according to google... I am a bit confused now, as the title of this post says if no root needed.
Előre is köszi

I'm so sorry, I edited the title. It turned out that the rom that i used at the first time was possibly pre-rooted.
The guide now have that you need root for it. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

[Q] Thinkpad Tablet from China without PlayStore: Root, CWM, ROM?

Hi all,
After countless checks on forums and other threads on XDA, I've decided to post this thread as I couldn't find a similar case anywhere.
Situation is I have a TPT from China. Long story short, it was from my company, and when I moved back to Europe I got to keep it.
Anyway, the problem is that it comes with a blocked Lenovo Store, meaning I can't access any of European/US/international apps. Going to Google Play store online doesn't work ("you haven't used any device with this account") - tried from tablet or from computer.
So I thought I would root and install a custom ROM that could enable me to get to the store and personalization/optimization of the device.
I managed to root my TPT thru this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1925025
Everything went OK but then I am stuck at the next stage.
If I understand well from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1846044, I need to install CWM and then install the custom ROM.
The thread about installing CWM, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831161, just doesn't work, maybe I'm doing something wrong.
If anyone can help it would be very helpful, right now my TPT is just useless...
Thanks all, any help will be very much appreciated.

Hi Da Reeseboy, thanks for answering first.
ADB drivers have already been installed on my windows machine in order to root the TPT.
Then at step 3 of the tutorial ("backup your old recovery"), I tried to input the commands into the TPT but nothing happens.
I have installed an application from the chinese lenovo store called SuShell in order to do that (I do speak some chinese). SuShell just tells me "command executed", that's it.
Actually I am not clear if I have an "old recovery" or if it's only for people already with CWM.
So I went on to step 4.
I did copy the file "recovery.img" to an SD card, stick it into the TPT and tried to proceed on the TPT via SuShell again, but when I type in the commands, SuShell tells me "command executed", but nothing happens again.
So I am a little confused if I am doing something the wrong way or typing the commands not thru the right channel or something else.
That's where any help will be very useful.
Thanks again!
Those commands are intended to be run from the computer in a command prompt with admin rights from the directory adb is in (normally the folder you extracted the root files to).

Thanks da_reeseboy, that made it!
I had a few gliches on the way but nothing major that I couldn't overcome.
I did follow the steps on the tutorials and now CM seems to be working fine on the tablet. It seems that a couple of functions on the TPT are either crashing or not working correctly, will try to look into it, but mainly I am now able to access the Play Store and said goodbye to the Chinese Lenovo Store.
Cheers again!

Xposed framework for ARM SDK 23 (NOTE: Grab both the xposed23.zip and XposedInstaller****.apk)
XPosed is OPTIONAL, but there are a lot of rooted apps that use the XPosed framework to get more control over your phone. Such as hiding mock locations for example.
NOTE: Internet is REQUIRED for KingRoot to function (grants temporary root, so ADP commands can be executed to unlock bootloader), at one point WiFi will NOT function but internet is still required. So a valid SIM with internet is required (Verizon will definitely work, others might[/] work)
NOTE: The entire installation will take an estimated 1-2 hours. (Not including time spent downloading) All steps are MANDATORY, do not SKIP anything....You've been warned
Install eMMC Brickbug Check (free) on your phone, and RUN IT. Your CID MUST start with 15. If it doesn't I can't help you, and this guide is not for you.
Install the Samsung USB drivers on your windows PC
Backup your phone, if you don't know how.....google it...And learn how, you will want to backup frequently. Every time you get to a point you can boot up into Android, backup...it's safer for you...I will not remind you again, this is on your head.
Disable Encryption on your phone, both the SD card and Device
Disable Samsung Phone Lockout. YOU MUST DO THIS OR ELSE!!!! (Settings > Security > Reactivation Lock)
Do 2 factory resets on your phone, one after another (hold volume up, home button, power when starting to enter recovery mode where you can reset phone). Not required but if you don't, you'll spend an extra hour or two doing this because Kingroot will crash/fail more often.
Boot up your phone in Download Mode (hold volume down, home button, power)
Open Odin3, Click the AP button and select the file N910VVRU2BPA1_N910VVZW2BPA1_VZW.tar.md5, once it checks it, goto options and make sure the Re-Partition is NOT selected. Now click start to flash and downgrade to Android 5.1.1.
Turn on your phone, and let it boot up.
Skip everything possible when setting up your phone. Don't even put in a google account, not necessary
Goto Setings and set the following
Settings > Security > Reactivation Lock = Disabled (EXTREMELY IMPORTANT, VERIFY)
Settings > Security > Unkown Sources = Enabled
Settings > Developer Options > USB debugging = Enabled
Developer options are unlocked by going to Settings > About Phone. Find "Build Number", and start clicking it till you get a message that Developer Options have been unlocked (about 10 clicks I believe, never counted).
Settings > Developer Options > Verify App via USB = Enabled (should be by default, CHECK)
Settings > Lock Screen = None
Settings > Display > Turn off Display = 10 Minutes
Plug your phone into your computer via USB, copy the NewKingroot****.apk to your download directory (samsung-sm-N910V\Phone\Download)
Install ADB onto your Windows PC. Select an easy directory such as c:\ADB
Copy the following file directly into the ADB directory
samsung_unlock_n4-fix
Open up command line interface. Hold windows key & press R key for run, type in "cmd" press enter. Will open a terminal window for you. Type the following commands:
cd\
cd adb (or whatever you named your directory where you installed ADB)
adb devices
This should return a list of devices you have connected, something like:
Code:
List of devices attached
SerialNum device
If no devices are displayed, check you have the Samsung USB drivers installed properly.
Type the following command
adb push samsung_unlock_n4-fix /data/local/tmp/
Got an error? check your spelling (or copy/paste from me), check you put the file into the ADB directory (not just a link), your phone must be on and screen not locked and check you have usb debugging enabled.
BTW: Do NOT CLOSE the window unless I instruct you to!
Install Kingroot on your phone, which you previously moved into your downloads folder, you can find it via My Files app that comes with phone.
Now run KingRoot. Flip down to the bottom and click "Try It", it will run some quick test then give you a button to try to root your phone.
Wait...Wait...Do not worry if your phone restarts, it will go back into KingRoot automatically on reboot. Just sit back and wait, it may fail multiple times and you may have to re-run Kingroot. Just keep trying . Once it succeeds you must do the following IMMEDIATELY AND AS FAST AS POSSIBLE. Kingroot is HIGHLY UNSTABLE.
On the windows PC, back in the command window you left open. Start Typing.
adb shell
su
cd /data/local/tmp/
chmod 777 samsung_unlock_n4-fix
chown root.root samsung_unlock_n4-fix
./samsung_unlock_n4-fix
After the last command it may prompt you to type yes, do so immediately. it won't write on the screen but type yes anyway for it to continue. Once it's done it should automatically start to reboot your phone. Unplug it and pull the battery, wait 5 seconds, put battery back in and plug the phone back in.
This was the initial setup for unlocking your bootloader, you now have to run it AGAIN so turn your phone back on. Repeat steps 22-24, after the 2nd time PULL OUT YOUR SD CARD BEFORE TURNING ON YOUR PHONE
Congratulations you now have an unlocked bootloader, you can close the command window on your PC.
The SD card has a restore point for your phone prior to removing your bootlock. Save it if you want, or plug into your phone and format the 18mb partition you are able to. You must format it on a PC before you can use it again in a phone!!!! Will shut your phone off immediately if you put the SD in without formatting that 18mb partition.
Now reboot your phone into download mode (hold volume down, home and power buttons when turning on)
Open Odin App on your PC, Click the "AP" button and select the file twrp-3.0.2-0-trltevzw.tar.md5 (which you downloaded earlier). Once it does it's check, verify that re-partition is NOT selected in options. Now click start to flash twrp bootloader.
Your phone will restart, re-enter download mode. If you missed it pull cable/battery and try again.
Now extract and flash N910VVRU2BPA1_N910VVRU2CPD1_FullFirmware.tar.md5 via Odin, same as you did with twrp. VERIFY THAT RE-PARTITION IS NOT SELECTED IN OPTIONS.
Boot up in recovery mode (hold volume up, home and power when turning on) (note: no longer TWRP since you flashed firmware, will look different again)
"Wipe data/factory reset ", then reboot your phone.
Now repeat steps 9-12 (NewKingRoot should still be in your downloads, but verify anyway) (NOTICE: wifi will NOT work with the CPD1 firmware, but Verizon internet should in case you need internet for some reason, wifi will restore later in guide - Other internet from other providers MIGHT work with proper APN settings)
Install a clean SD card into the phone.
Now repeat steps 15-25. This time you should only need to run the samsung_unlock_n4-fix file once to break your boot. This is what it typically says on successful bootloader unlock: (if you got this message, pull the battery, cable and SD card.)
Code:
[email protected]:/ # cd /data/local/tmp/
[email protected]:/ # chmod 777 samsung_unlock_n4-fix <
[email protected]:/ # ./samsung_unlock_n4-fix

Now boot back into download mode
Flash TWRP via Odin again (I'm summarizing greatly now, as you should by now understand this kind of shorthand)
Ok, now boot up into TWRP recovery mode (vol up, home, power)
Navigate through TWRP menus to create a Backup. Click Backup Button, and swipe to create backup. (this is just so that it creates the directory structure on your phone)
Click the Reboot System button, skip all the setup you can again. (DO NOT INSTALL SUPERSU!!! will cause bootloop)
Extract the "JasmineROM_v7.0_N910VVRU2CPF3.7z" file it will create a directory called "JasmineROM_v7.0_N910VVRU2CPF3".
Plug USB into phone and to computer. Copy the JasmineROM_v7.0_N910VVRU2CPF3 folder into \Internal storage\TWRP\BACKUPS\Phone SN\
Reboot into TWRP recovery
Click the Restore button (DONT start the restore yet!!!), and check that your JasmineROM is listed as a recovery option. (don't recover YET) If it's not there you copied it into the wrong directy, try again before proceeding.
Go back to the main menu, Click the Wipe button. Click the 'Advanced Wipe' button, and wipe the following cache/dalvik/system/data
Go back to Restore (from 2 steps ago) and run the JasmineROM_v7.0_N910VVRU2CPF3 recovery, return to main menu afterwards
Go to wipe, and wipe the cache/dalvik only this time.
Reboot into download mode
Flash the N910VVRU2CPF3_PartialFirmware_PatechedKernel.tar.m d5.7z file via Odin
Reboot the system, this will take a LONG TIME. WAIT for it. (if reboot takes >10 min, pull battery and restart)
Once it boots up, skip all the setup again. Copy the CM13, Gapps and XPosed (both zip and apk) to your downloads. Don't unzip anything, not necessary.
Now reboot into recovery go to WIPE and do a factory reset by swiping.
Then goto Install (still in recovery) and install CM13, then Install Gapps.
Reboot your phone, this time you are setting up properly reboot will take a while to optimize your apps depending on Gapps version used. So do all your setup as you want your phone setup. Once that's done, restart the phone in recovery. (if reboot takes > 5 min, pull battery and restart)
Install via TWRP the XPossed.zip file.
Reboot your phone, once on. Navigate via My Files, to downloads and install XPosed.apk
CONGRATULATIONS. You now have a fully Unlocked, Rooted Note 4 Verizon with CryanogenMod 13.0 installed and XPosed Installed.
Suggested Apps
Kernel Auditor [ROOT], will allow you to adjust kernel settings. Such as CPU clock speeds and thermal throttling, if your phone is too hot.
Note: About ROOT[/], you will have root once you finish this guide. But it is disabled by default, you can enable root in developer options (no reboot required when changing). Unlock your developer options again, and scroll down you will see an option to enable/disable root. This allows you to keep turn off during normal use, and only enable it when you need to install an app that requires root. You can always just leave it on all the time, that is your choice.
Note: Some apps on Google PlayStore will become unavailable due to incompatibility (according to google, HA). Such as YouTube Music, you will no longer be able to install it through the store. But you can install it by using an APK site, such as APK Downloader. On this site you find the app you want on play.google.com, copy the HTTP link and put it into the APK Downloader and it will generate a direct download link to the APK file. Copy onto your phone and sideload (ie. install) through file explorer. I don't endorse them, they are just one of many places you can get APK files.
Change Log
7/28/2016
Another success story :good:
Added note about how root works in CM 13.0
Corrected Step 34
Minor text adjustments, for clarification
Made note that wifi doesn't work with CDP1 flash
Added note that you MUST HAVE a valid sim card with internet access for step 35! KingRoot requires internet to function, and Wifi will NOT WORK after flashing CPD1 firmware (incomparable drivers).
Added another note about internet at the top of the instructions, to make sure people are aware.
7/27/2016
Added Bicknasty to the Contributors list - helped resolve issues I had with CM 13.0 kernel & modem.
Added a note to downloads section regarding total size of files downloaded and expected time.
Re-wrote steps 40-48 to make it easier to understand. Adding some steps and explaining in more detail.
Added note at the top to read ALL the instructions once before starting
Added note with the estimated time to perform all the steps
Added note suggesting Kernel Auditor app, and made reference to the fact that some apps on playstore will NOT install from playstore. Suggested APK Downloader for apps not available from store

You know it wasn't so much that it annoyed me it's that there was no concrete guide telling me what to do. It's a thread here, a post there to do a specific thing but they aren't coordinated in a logical way for users to easily find.
Alright ignore what I said before this edit, I just skipped a step.
I must say though, steps 41-43 are very confusing. What is the ROM folder?

The ROM folder I'm referring too is the folder inside the Jasmine zip file. I only reference it so people wouldn't try to take just the files inside the folder which is inside the zip file. Lol yea that's confusing....I'll think about how to rewrite those and make adjustments in a couple hours to make it clearer.
But basically when you extract the Jasmine zip file it creates a folder with files in it. Copy the whole folder not just the files to where it makes your recovery folders.

Okay, awesome. Also I think the TWRP part could be explained a little clearer.
Other than that, 100%
oh also, at the start I would say to read the entire thing before starting, and give a warning that downloads will take like 4 hrs

Lol yea, didn't think to mention reading the whole thing first. To me that's a given I always read everything before starting. I'll add a note to read everything.
As to download time, well it is like what 12 gigs in total? Basically 4 full versions of the Android OS at 2 gigs reach plus all the extras.
I'll try to see if I can't explain the twrp recovery of Jasmine better. Only reason you need to do Jasmine is for the 6.0.1 device drivers (such as modem).

I've modified the guide appropriately, to resolve all of the issues (I think) you mentioned. And to make some steps easier to understand and follow.
I also added a recommended app on the bottom, and mentioned a site you can use to get PlayStore apps which will now list as incompatible with our phones.
Finally, question: Did you succeed using this Guide? Just curious if everything is working as expected after following my guide. I wrote the thing from memory, after spending 3 days rooting my phone and figuring everything out from various sources. Hopefully this saves people some time where they don't have to piece a dozen sources together to figure out how to do it. I only mentioned the main 4 I referenced, but there were other lessons learned from various places that aren't covered in those posts.

I was quite successful with the root. Even though I messed up a few times (skipping steps), it all works out and now it's working lovely. It only took an hour of actual work, plus a lot of download time because of slow hosts.
Thanks so much for the guide, the only issue was with the slow hosts, and that's hardly your fault. I do wonder if maybe setting up a torrent of the heavier files might help though.
Edit: I will say, this is a wonderfully tedious root effort.

An hour..........I spent 2 hours watching kingroot try and root my damb phone, LOL because I didn't wipe before trying to get temporary root the first time you use it (before I read in a post that wiping twice will make it MUCH more successful). Took me 10+ hours of actual work to get my phone rooted and CM 13.0 setup, because I didn't have steps to follow, LMAO. Made it up as I went.
As to the Torrent, I'd be the only one sharing and my upload speeds are not that great. maybe 500 kbps, I live in a rural area. At least my download speed is 40 mbps.
And it is hellofa tedious root for the Note 4, I haven't seen any other phone as crazy tedious to root.
Edit: Mind if I add a 'success story' section and add you to it?

Oh of course, go ahead and add me.
Also, if you do end up making a torrent, i'd be happy to help seed at least for a while. I have pretty good upload and no data caps or anything so it would probably help a bit (anything is faster than that 100 kbps that xda was giving)
You called N910VVRU2BPA1_N910VVZW2BPA1_VZW.zip, "N910VVRU2BPA1 Full Firmware". Which kinda got me confused, (maybe its just me trying to do this at 1 am >_>) but might want to edit that. Other then that Iv'e had a pretty easy time following this guide. Thanks! (still doing it fyi, I got an infinite bootloop, so figured I messed up somewhere after reflashing TWRP, now im starting from scratch.)
I have a Very weird problem , I followed your instructions correctly i was on step 25 did exactly what you said pulled the unpluged the USB and pulled the battery and and waited 5 seconds and put the battery back in and rebooted the phone only problem is now it is stuck in a boot loop of the image Samsung galaxy note 4 and just keeps rebooting . I haved tryed doing a factory reset and wiping cache and reinstalling 5.1..1 via odin and it is still doing the boot loop i am not sure what i did wrong or what to do . I know its not hard brick because i can get into recovery and download but just wont boot the past the Samsung not 4 logo

Was this after the first time you inputted the adb commands our second? Make sure you pull the SD card after the second time, as it will cause reboots after the second time until you reformat the SD card on your PC. Size will be wrong on PC but size will fix when you reformat the SD card a second time on your phone.
Edit it creates like 20 partitions on the ad card when you do adb, it creates a backup of your phone os.

:highfive:have to thank Aivisa for posting first:good: (https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg...anogenmod-12-1-rom-twrp-lg-g3-stylus-t3675898)
Yo everyone I’ve been searching for custom roms for the lg g3 stylus for a while and found one that works…. I’ve made mistakes by downloading wrong roms for the lg g3 s which is not the same as lg g3 stylus.
If you’re not interested in CM Lollipop rom pls leave this page
I will not be held responsible or accountable for any mishaps, soft brick or ceased of operation of your phone. Everyone please rate! And don’t rush the process.
So, if you have made these mistakes and feel stuck or has messed up your stock and just need a way out try here.
I’ve found some proper resources around the net which I’ll try to lay in order. If you know what to do skip the steps, here are the files….
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1DMDWtksrgTdTZvRkptS3M4WDQ
STEP 1!:cyclops:
Root ya phone! Need root access.
Using kingroot for android (without pc)
OR
download iRoot for PC (with pc. Usb needed)
Always remember to activate developer mode for usb debugging
STEP 2!!
You will need busybox , A terminal and install both.
STEP 3!!!
Place these files to external_SD
Extract twrp.zip and move the files inside the folder,
cyanogenmod_v1_bugsfixed_release_d693,
open_gapps-arm-5.1-pico-20161228
STEP 4!!!!
Installing twrp
Open terminal
follow this video (it’s in Spanish)
you don’t have to install the theme like he did.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qog3-U-DoY0
if succeeded skip sub step 4!!!!
SUB STEP 4!!!!
for those who wants the command
Comand:
Su (Grant permission when asked)
dd if=/storage/external_SD/uboot.img of=/dev/uboot count=1024
dd if=/storage/external_SD/recovery.img of=/dev/recovery count=32768
reboot recovery
STEP 5!!!!!:fingers-crossed:
after you reboot recovery don’t change anything in the recovery if it asks.
Back up if u need to.
Hit wipe and wipe cache, this will not wipe your internal.
Go back out and go on install.
Locate the custom rom zip . After its installed do not reboot.
Go back out and locate your gapps zip and install
Then reboot.
And that’s it I hope everything goes smooth for you like mine did:victory:

HELP!!
I met with a problem...
My phone's screen is stuck, it just shows me LG Life's Good Powered by ANDROID.
What have I done wrong?
Now what should I do?
Device : LG G3 Stylus D690 (Rooted and running stock rom with android lollipop.
Thanks.
i have 4GB total storage size for internal SD. I have an 8gb device. Is this normal?
Edit:
Did some device tinkering, everything is accounted for. This is definitely way better than the stock ROM.
I can confirm the procedure works and you will end up having more internal storage for your apps. However i had to wipe system/dalvik/cache/data in twrp.
Feedback:
LG kernel double tap is disabled. Only cyanogen double tap status bar to turn off is built in. 3rd party app double tap to turn on is a battery hog so its pointless.
Replace CM camera with Open Camera to enable sdcard saving of photos.
Install notifyer to show icon badges (mail / messages counts in icon on home screen) -drawer icons not included. Another work around is to install 3rd party launcher like nova, go launcher, etc. But i prefer to minimize storage consumption.
The move to sdcard function doesnt seem to work for me though. Same for link2sd app. External sd could not be found. I look forward to marshmallow development on this one as it allows converting sdcard to internal storage.
Root is switchable via developer options for those who want to tinker with the ROM.
ROM runs smoothly without hiccups. Kudos to cristian torres who ported this for the G3 Stylus.

Unable to get into twrp. I'm only able to see the LG screen.
Its kinda tricky enterring into recovery mode.
1. Power off device
2. Hold vol down and power button
3. When you see the lg boot logo release the buttons and immediately press them again to go into twrp
Hope that works for you

bugs in CM12.1-20160901-unofficial-d693n. actualization channel nightly:
- hotspots (wifi zone).
- audios on whatsapp and calls are heard very low to hate without being able to control the volume.
- cannot update cm.
- sometimes the play store gets stuck and says waiting for download.
I found three ROMs on YouTube that I've shared here :: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=308172
One of them is the ROM from this thread.
None of this is my work. I'm only sharing what I found online.

Going back to stock rom, coming from lineageos 16 ????? Lenovo Tab4 10 Plus TB-X704F

Hey guys,
since I dont get neither Netflix nor Disney+ to work on my TB-X704F after having flashed LOS 16, I want to go back to stock rom. I've already tried to use Lenovo Smart Assistant but the flashing procedure always fails. I also tried QComLoader but also fails at 5%.
Is there a working way on going back to stock rom having TRWP ans LOS 16 installed???
Due to the fact that Netflix and Disney+ arent working (already tried Magisk module to change the tablets' fingerprint), I need to go back to stock rom.
Thanks in advance!!!!
Please use this tool to flash the stock rom: https://qfiltool.com/qfil-tool-v2-0-2-3
need help here. I'm flashed LineageOS previously. Can't install NetFlix hence i want to switch back to stock. I've installed the drivers and QFIL software. however when the device is off, i hold the volume up button then plug in the usb, but the QFIL software still show port not available. I entered the TWRP screen asking me to whether i can choose Boot to FFBM. Restart Bootloader.. etc. what should i choose?
I assume by "magisk module", you mean the termux props method? That's worked for me on several devices.
Also I really don't know how I can help you past that, most stock firmwares aren't designed to be flashed on modified devices. Very few manufacturers even support that (Samsung, LG and OnePlus are falriy major exceptions)
Edit: just realised the age of the thread, apologies.

What exactly is the termux props method?
Is that to fix Magisk not authenticating? Or to allow the tool QFIL to restore stock?

I mean the MagiskHide Props Config, which requires Termux. Basically you install the module, give Termux root and configure props with it. Then you use MagiskHide to hide magisk from them.
On the topic of reverting to stock, it's not possible. Custom firmware is almost always a one way process, and you understand if you do it things like the OP has described can and will happen. People who want things to "just work" use stock firmware, or an Apple device, it was never designed to not need tinkering.

Goodness, I'm not a person who needs a 'just work' situation. It took weeks to get this onto stock and I've spent a long time reading up trying to fix Magisk. Surely there has to be a point when you're actually using the device and not just fixing it!
Basic things like being able to download and use apps...that seems like a reasonable request.
I think there's 'tinkering' and 'it doesn't work!'
Also, I've rolled back to stock roms before on various phones, recovery and so on - not with this tablet admittedly. Surprised it seems such a difficult or - as you say - impossible process. But hey.
That said, I appreciate the help! I really do.
So; I need to find 'Termux'. https://termux.com/
This says I get it from 'F Droid'. But I then found a link on their webpage to this;
https://f-droid.org/repo/com.termux_117.apk
I'm assuming that's the right one.
It looks like a terminal?
Googling for Termux Magiskhide props config got me to this youtube video;
It's in Indonesian, but shows you some steps. Would that be the best place to find instructions?

Magisk is dropping support for hiding root access from apps
Magisk, the popular Android rooting tool, will continue to be developed by topjohnwu, but without its root hiding feature called MagiskHide.

You can install Termux from the Play Store if you have GApps. I did and it worked. And yes, it is a terminal. I've just upgraded to 17.1 on this device so I'm going to be doing it again sooner rather than later anyway.

Ok, so...
Make sure Magisk has "MagiskHide Props Config" and "Busybox For Android NDK" and root fully enabled. Hide must be disabled. If this isn't the case, do so and then reboot.
Open Termux. Type 'su' to give root access. Then type 'props' and follow the menu for your device. Type '1' for 'Edit device fingerprint'. Type 'f' for 'Pick a certified fingerprint'. Type '13' for 'Lenovo'. Type '2' for 'Lenovo Tab 4 8 Plus TB-8704F (8.1.0)'. If you have another device you might be out of luck. Type 'y' for 'yes'. Wait. Type 'y' again to reboot.
Configure MagiskHide to hide these parts of GPS + any other root sensitive apps. The screenshot I have was taken from a OnePlus but it shows the GPS that needs to be hidden. The less you can get away with hiding the better for performance reasons. Also make sure to repackage Magisk as 'Settings' and change the name of the 'TWRP' folder using a root file explorer (for some reason I don't have one) to... I'm partial to 'f**kyougoogle' personally, but anything will do. Reboot again and Disney+ should work just fine. If it doesn't, I can't help you.
I'd recommend moving to 18.1 before doing this, you'll have to start from square 1 but it means you're more up to date and won't have to do it again until someone builds 19.1 for this device. Can confirm, that build works.
This isn't without risk. Some apps specifically wanting android 11 might not work right. But it SHOULD fix root sensitive apps that use Safetynet. I also can't say anything about Widevine compatibility as I don't have Disney+ on this device.

Ah, I've just seen you've said "I'd recommend moving to 18.1 before doing this, you'll have to start from square 1 but it means you're more up to date and won't have to do it again until someone builds 19.1 for this device. Can confirm, that build works."
Right. I'd better go and find all the instructions for that. I've forgotten how I got this thing onto custom firmware, but I've got recovery installed.

Go to the 18.1 thread on this forum and look for the instructions for flashing without being on stock. Also use TWRP 3.4.0.0. You will need a computer, as you have to wipe internal storage and use ADB.

I may stay where I am on Android 9. I've just seen it doesn't support sim and I sort of need that.
I can always come back and do that later, right?
I'm a bit worried about bricking it too. I might just get myself onto Android 9 working with the fix for now. It took me so long to get it onto custom rom the first time.

Yeah of course, but you will have to start over if / when you upgrade
Ah. Hit a snag.
You said "Type '2' for 'Lenovo Tab 4 8 Plus TB-8704F (8.1.0)"
I've got the TB-8704L, the 10 inch.
Let me see if anythings listed.

Invalid IMEI - Is Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Plus G532F an MTK chipset at all?

Hello folks,
I ran into a poblem with my old Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Plus. 3 years ago I was messing up with the phone and I ran into an invalid IMEI problem. As I was a real newbie, I brought it straight to a friend of a friend of a friend who had a phone shop, and he fixed it for me.
Everything OK until last week, when I suddenly realized that probably the guy had flashed the wrong IMEI to it, mistyping 2 numbers of one of the two IMEIs.
Currently, I then have a perfectly working phone, but the IMEI is incorrect and I need to fix it.
I don't have the box anymore, but luckilly the numbers under the battery are perfectly clear and readable, although this is quite an old device.
As the shop of the guy who did the work is long gone, I started to look around for instruction on how to deal with the problem, and I followed all the possible tutorials, but apparently I'm not able to fix the issue.
I just know it can be done, as this was done to the very same phone in the past, creating the problem. I just do not happen to know how he did...
Here's what I tried so far:
1. APP: Mobileuncle Tools
Whenever I tap onto "IMEI Backup Restore (MTK)" I get an error message that says "No support".
2. APP: MTK engineering mode
I open the app, and whenever I tap onto "MTK Settings" I get an error message that says: "Cannot find EngineerMode App - Mediatek chipset is mandatory and stock ROM must be installed".
I tried both Mobileuncle Tools and MTK Engineering mode with 3 different ROMs downloaded from different sources, before and after rooting the device with Super SU, but to no avail.
3. With any xposed module
This could be a solution... but not a real one.
At least according to all the documentation I found (also here on the forum), any xposed module like "IMEI Changer", "chamaleon", "device changer", "hijack suite free" etc only mask the IMEI in front of other apps, but do not really change the IMEI of the phone.
So basically I would still have a phone with an illegal IMEI on it.
Not ideal: this is not what I am looking for.
4. IMEI Maker and IMEI Repair
I followed the tutorial I found here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2399037
I encounter no errors at all, and TWRP shows a clean log, nothing seems to be wrong. But after flashing the new IMEI, nothing changes: with *#06# I can still see the wrong IMEI there.
The file in data/nvram/md/NVRAM/NVD_IMEI/MP0B_001 just remains the same, dating 2016, and does not get replaced by the new one.
I tried to replace the file manually, using ROM Toolbox Lite. At the beginning I could not delete the original MP0B_001 file, even after changin permissions to 775. It kept saying "File deleted" but the file remained there.
I then installed BusyBox Free, and it did the trick: now using ROM Toolbox Lite I definitely can delete the MP0B_001 file. The problem is that the original file keeps coming back again and again, after every reboot.
Nevermind if I place the new MP0B_001 file in the folder copying and pasting it or flashing it with TWRP, it will get overwritten by the old file with the wrong IMEI.
5. Flashing a Combination ROM
I didn't find a specific tutorial for this one, but I just tried to flash the combination ROM and see whether I could get any luck touching things in there.
No luck!
6. With SN write tool (windows software)
Here the big problem is, I can't find the BP file anywhere.
No AP_BP_database seems to contain the BP file for the MT6737T (that is the chipset of the G532F). As I am writing, I am thinking about trying to use a different BP file, from a different chipset. This will probably won't work, but after trying all of these, I mean, why not...
I also tried to look for the BP file into the folder /system/etc/mddb/ , as advised here: https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-11609.html . I looked for ir with any of the 3 different stock ROMs I tried to install. Yet again, absolutely nooooo luck here.
7. MTK Droid Root & Tools (windows software)
This won't even connect to the phone. That is, whenever I connect the phone to the PC, I get the following errors:
" --- Estructura de ROM desconocida, no se puede hacer backup ! "
That would be something like: "Unknown ROM structure, cannot perform backup"
The device gets recognized (hardware, model, build number...), so it should be a problem of drivers, cable or USB port. Also because I used the same setup to install all the stock ROM, TWRP, Super SU etc...
---------------------------
And here I am. After one week of try and fail, getting tired of all this!
I'm surprised on how persistent that wrong IMEI is, as I can't get rid of it in any way.
Do you have ANY kind of idea of what can I do?
As the points 1, 2, 4, 6 and 7 are specifically advised for MTK chipset. I'm starting to doubt that this is an MTK chipset altogether!!!
Thanks for your help
Peter
Update:
I tried with NCK Dongle AndroidMTK 2.5.6.2
Still no success (phone apparently not supported).
