Atto Drive Install on R800i: Going back to stock R800i firmware - Xperia Play General

I installed Atto Drive on my R800i even tho I know it's a R800x rom. Everything worked fine except it broke charging with the USB port (the dev knows of this issue). My R800i play is detected as a R800x now. I wanted to revert back to stock kernel and firmware but couldn't because:
Flashtool:
- Flashing any R800i firmware doesn't work because Flashtool thinks my device is an R800x
- Flashing any R800x firmware doesn't work because Flashtool detects errors while flashing .sin files
I flashed LuPuS kernel but that didn't make a difference as far as Flashtool is concerned.
So now I'm sitting here with an R800i that has been changed to an R800x and can't do anything with it except boot into CWM and TWRP.
My last idea is to restore a genuine R800i Nandroid backup but I don't have one. Can anyone of you make a Nandroid backup of their R800i and provide me with it? I want to see if this changes my device back to R800i and thus being able to flash with Flashtool again. Thanks

Which version of flashtool are you using?
I tried to use the lastest version but also gave me the .sin file error at flashing. So I downloaded 0.9.18.6 and the flash worked without problems.

ME860 with stock 2.3.4 flashing CM7 not fully booted

I have a ME860 with official 2.3.4 updated, i yesterday unlocked the Bootloader with IHOP_Bell.sbf and have CWM flashed successfully. But my phone booted into command line saying OS not detected and was stucked at the command line with 14modes available.
I got into Recovery and flashed to CM7(latest Bat2F.zip) and it completed without error. Now the command line says OS will Boot in 5 secs but is again stucked with Cold Boot Linux Reading ODM Fuse:1 displayed.
I am new to this can someone help me out here ? Thank you
Are you messing around with RSD at all?
Sent from my Atrix XDA Premium App
the only time i used RSD is to flash the IHOP_Bell.sbf to enable unlocking the bootloader. As for flashing the CWM i did tru the Fastboot command from the computer. After that I have never touch RSD at all.
the phone boots up showing unlocked on the top left of the screen. however what i found a bit strange was, right after i flashed the IHOP_bell.sbf, the phone always boots up in the bootloader mode. i thought it was normal that way, so from there i selected the fastboot mode and the phone did boot into fastboot. then i connect the USB cable and entered the fastboot oem unlock and successfully unlocked the phone.
after that, i flashed the CWM recovery mode using moto-fastboot flash recovery and it was done, and i am able to get into CWM recovery options too.
Actually i am thinking of flashing the HKTW fruitcake sbf, do u think it is a good idea ? or should i try something else first?
I wouldn't touch that. I personally never used that. I would wait till another user comments.
Sent from my Atrix XDA Premium App
i tried the fruitcake anyways, and it actually booted up !!
i took a look at the phone details. my phone is now MB860 instead of ME860 which i had b4. anyways there seems to be minor bug with this stock HKTW ROM cuz in the phone details , the version number has a userdebug name in it. so i guess thats way its not stable
will try to flash CM7 again
CM7 still not working, any ideas anyone ??

What CWM are you using? If it doesn't support ext4 that might be your problem. The things you've successfully flashed are all ext3.
Make sure you're using ROM Manager's or romracer's. Those are the only ones that support ext4.
Need to know what recovery you have installed & did you wipe data/factory rest & wipe both caches before flashing CM7????

thank you guys ! i was using this CWM recovery-en-goapk-0630-1029.zip
also from xda so i thought everything was good
so now i have CM7 up and running !!!!
I thought that was deprecated? I may be wrong
I use romracers and sometimes the one in rom manager
but ididnt like it

Hello, i got one ME860 Atrix from Hong Kong, and updated the stock rom to 2.3.4 already.

i have unroot it by using superoneclick 2.2, installed RSD 5.3.1,
then i have confused what is my next step for unlock bootloader process...
i should flash the IHOP_Bell.sbf or OLYEM_U4_2.1.1_SIGNED_UCAOLYPORTFR_P014_A004_M001_HWolympus_1g_1FF.sbf
?? anyone can help me Anyway, thanks a lot~~
Motorola ME860 successful unlocked IHOP_Bell.rar
Then install recovery from fastboot
and ROM from CWM

Please help

Hi Guys,
Any chance of some help please?,
Just managed to create my own Rom I know unbelievable right?, well I used bits and bobs from the Arc rom, used dooms kernel, and bits from themes and new s apps etc and tweaked a bit with lovely new themes and voila perfect.
problem is being too much of a smart arse I formatted my sd card just as I was about to install an updated leaner rom that i'd made, so i decided I would just connect the phone up to fastboot and install the rom from there.
Well I thought the system command was to install a rom, so i typed fastboot flash system "my roms name and .zip at the end it erased then wrote quite quickly and alarm bells started to ring cos I thought no way thats installed a rom.
Anyways I just get doom kernels logo now and nothing else it wont go further for me to get into CWM.
Although its allowing me into fastboot so hopefully its not bricked.
Do I just install a 0.62 ftf file for the lt18i?, if so which one should I choose i'm on virgin uk unbranded phone.
Also what would the command be in fastboot?
Thanks guys
Mav
Hey,
I'm no developer, but you can flash any ftf using flashtool... after that you can get back to using the recovery... since you're not sticking to the fw and reinstalling yours any should work... Get a generic global...
By the way, make sure you don't overwrite the kernel or bb, otherwise you'll need to flash the ones you were using before...
Hope it helped...

Well, I suggest you to re-flash doomkernel in fastboot mode with the command:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
I think that way you can access the recovery.
I would recommend you to read the Fastboot Wiki on the matter, I think there is a way to test ROMs more safely.
And always good advice, do a nandroid backup before testing anything.
Thanks guys,
just what I thought, I did try reflashing doom kernel but it wouldnt allow me into recovery think because I messed up system.img.
So I'm now downloading lt18i 4.0.2.A.62 Generic ftf, I will flash via flashtool, and hopefully doomkernel, 36 baseband & libs will all still be there, then I can just go into CWM and test my Rom.
I definitely should have done a nandroid backup nevermind hopefully it will all be right.
If it works well I will be sharing my rom which I think is really nice and works well.
Thanks again
Mav

Is a flashable zip kernel possible in play ?

Hi everyone I am new to the xperia play community. .
I was flashing ics on my friend's Samsung galaxy s I9000 and saw that the new kernels were in flashable zip format..
Is it possible for xperia play? because then there would be no need to connect xplay to computer..

Flashable kernels are not possible on this phone because recovery isn't on a separate partition.

Sent from my R800i using XDA
I always wondered how other phones that hav locked bootloaders, how u can flash the whole rom and kernel together, but on the play u cant, i just assumed that the kernel and the system parts must be different

Kernel is part of the boot partition. When you flash your phone to stock using an .ftf, it flashes boot, system, and userdata.

So it's possible to flash a kernel? Why only with an ftf file?
I know it's not fastbooting because I can't install the drivers for fastboot again for some reason.

You can flash a kernel in fastboot by using a boot.img file, but for those with locked bootloaders, only an .ftf can write to boot.

Yes, through fastboot with an unlocked bootloader.
When you flash an ftf for stock, the software is signed digitally by Sony. If you flash an unsigned kernel when your bootloader is still locked, you'll get a boot loop.
Flash mode, which is what flashtool uses, is meant for applying official updates, so it's really only meant for signed, official software.
Fastboot on the other hand is for developers.
You could try making an ftf with a custom kernel, but it's basically pointless when fastboot is so easy and it won't boot unless you're unlocked anyway.
Exactly..once you have unlocked bootloader, then its just a matter of seconds to change kernel..
I change and try new kernels and roms every second day.

but i suppose... if we boot the complete kernel with recovery and copy it to the ram memory, we could flash flash the partition where recovery is insatelled...am i wrong??
I can't get into fastboot mode anymore so flashing a kernel in flash mode would be useful. Ftf files flash them in flash mode.

If you can't use fastboot I'd recommend checking in the service menu, and making sure the bootloader is still unlocked. If it's not you're just gonna end up with a boot loop.

That sounds plausible to me. Just like you can run some Linux distributions live off a USB drive and then remove (or format the USB drive) - only certain ones like Puppy linux can do this though, they have to run from RAM like you're saying. Another option might be to copy the recovery (or necessary files) to the cache partition (if there is enough room) so that the recovery isn't dependent upon that partition so it can be wiped/reflashed. I'm not familiar enough with this level of Android development to know how hard this might be though - but I think it should be possible.
But it would be dangerous... if something goes wrong and your device fails in the middle of the process, the partition may be hosed, in which case you might not be able to boot at all (not into recovery or normally). You'd be hosed until you get to a computer to flash a firmware or kernel, making flashing away from a computer dangerous anyway.
So it's probably more error-prone and more hassle to implement for such small reward (it just takes one extra step with a computer to flash a kernel).

We always are able to reflash an ftf file and restore nandroid backup... i will create a new thread in the developement forum tomorrow , and lets see if developers can make this posible

You can't restore a nandroid with a phone that won't boot into recovery though. If something went wrong with flashing the kernel, you would be stuck until you get home before you can fix it.

Restore stock factory ROM

Hey guys,
After rooting, I seem to have removed some bloatware that I wasn't supposed to, messing up my JB build. I forgot to do a nandroid backup (is there even a way to do it on the Razr M), I was wondering if there was a way I could restore the stock factory ROM, using RSDLite or something. Thanks.

Using the firmware here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2017200, I tried restoring via RSDLite, however it won't recognize my phone (fastboot mode, RSDLite 6.14, latest Motorola drivers). Is there any way to fix this, or use the terminal to push the package to the phone?

Need help, urgent

Hi, I have a D806 G2 and I have a big problem.
After an error modifying my build.prop I was left with a broken phone. It wouldn't boot to the os.
I was rooted and with TWRP so I restarded and tried to revert to the old build.prop (that's the only backup I had) and it didn't work.
I followed the tutorials to go back to stock (I had done it once before to update my phone while rooted, but that time the phone was working fine).
Well, to my surprise, given that I only had recovery or download mode, the process started but failed with an error.
Now, I don't have a System, meaning that my system folder is empty so I really don't have an os in the phone, and all procedures to flash a rom, fail.
I have tried flashtools and everyother tool but nothing, can't put a rom in the phone.
Now I'm kinda desperated because It is too expensive for me to loose the phone (things in Argentina are far too expensive) and when I put it in download mode it clearly says ROOTED so I will have a problem with guaranty.
Please, someone give me a hand!!

Sorry was too crazy to post most data.
No I don't have a backup of my rom, but I got a backup from another phone and it doesn't work
Gladly I could use a USB OTG to copy Carbon and Gapps to the phone and I could install that so the phone is working now.
The problem is going back to stock because I would need a backup of a D806 rom and I don't have one.
I'm on TWRP 2.6.3.4 and it's working fine now. Thank you very much.,
Very simple and very lucky you still can access download mode. Just using flashtools to flash TOT again then its all go back to original stock.

I would if I could, but my IMEI reads 0, hence no luck with LG software.
Luckily I could boot the phone to an AOSP rom (copied via USB OTG to my phone -I still have recovery-)
So, I have an AOSP rom, I can get a backup of a similar rom to my stock rom -from a user in another forum- and I can install that backup (foing it ATM)
BUT, my IMEI is 0 so LG software doesn't fully recognize my rom and drivers don't fully install
HELP??
