Hai.I tested Galaxy S4 camera's feature. Now I wanna ask between this two mode.I notice that hdr mode take much better pictures at night time than Night mode. Please explain....
Sent From S4
From my experience HDR mode takes extremely noisy pictures at night, while Night Modes takes brighter and heavily filtered pictures that smooth out the noise. I definitely prefer the latter.
I'll have to say, HDR is not intended for night photos. There is a reason why the feature got included. And I do agree that HDR has a lot of more noise that night mode shots
Quite to my surprise this is the case with my Xiaomi Mi Max too. Good to see it's same with someone else. Hardly any noise compared to night mode(hht In miui) and believe me hht is useless once you see hdr. Brighter and noise free. I just think it works differently with different hardware or software but I am happy to click noise free pics at night. And all the best to you too.
Pixel has the same case. Read here
If you have any doubts, especially with low light, well, don't. This is by far the best phone cam I've seen, ever. But that's my opinion if course. All shot in auto mode. Of course, when you blow m up they get grainy and such but if you keep 'm small while viewing the colors, lighting and the whole scene is captured beautifully.
And one more
Very good pictures! I do like the camera on this badboy...
Wow very nice! :good:

Does suppose to look blurry. That's what all my still imagines look like
Nice shots! Camera does have potential, but the auto-focus has issues. It misses far too often

Yeah. Wish it had dual pixel focus like the s7
Yes, the dpaf would be awesome. That is the only thing this is missing. Truly remarkable camera, though, even given that.
My Mate 9 pictures are not coming as good as Galaxy S7 Edge. Am I doing something wrong, both phones tested with Auto mode

Because it's not as good as the S7's camera, especially in low-light.
i would say they are different. I found the ability to play around with Depth of Field ana amazing tool to create far more professional pictures. But in low light the shots are noisier. so for poitn and shoot / get a picture every time the s7 edge (and iphone) are better in low light. But in good light they are comparable, while the ability to play around with bokeh is amazing.
Try manual mode in low light. Also, make sure you keep your hands as steady as possible... this camera is great, but not quite at the top.
Well if you need more evidence, these are my first shots from the UK version of the Mate 9. Epic.
Here's my first sample of photos from the Mate 9 UK version camera. We really need the software update soon as this improves the quality and features of the camera too.

^very nice pictures! Does it have HDR+ ?
Excellent photos. Sometimes wonder why to carry that heavy SLR anymore. Maybe from now I should permanently mount telephoto lense on it and let the Mate 9 takes all the wides.
Some more shots from yesterday. Simply stunning camera !!

Indeed - wonderful pictures!
Not as good as s7 or pixel camera, but it's still a good camera. 2016 set the bar high for mobile photography and it feels like Huawei are still finding their feet and playing catch up somewhat.
Still though I'm not looking back at the s7. The Mate 9 camera is good enough for my purposes and it beats the s7 and s7 edge in other areas, while also being cheaper than the edge in my country.

It's better than my S7 in most ways except focus and burst shutter speeds. Quality is better. The Pixel relies on HDR+ which can either create awesome shots or fake looking ones. The Mate 9 is far more natural and decent quality.
So here was my test of the zoom quality , done just before dusk to make it harder. https://gavinsgadgets.com/2017/01/25/huawei-mate-9-opticalhybrid-zoom-camera-samples/
And another post, celebrating the camera of the Mate 9, with some mega action shots too.

Love it.
Hey everyone,
Here's my night time video test using the Google Pixel: https://youtu.be/8Jw9FUB28a0
It's not great when there isn't lighting. With bright artificial lighting the night looks much better. The camera seems to repeatedly focus which can be annoying. Maybe that's because of the fast moving objects?
Let me know what you think.

This is my main and only complaint about the pixel, low light video recording. It is horrible. I'm hoping it is a software issue that can be fixed, but I'm lead to believe it's most likely a hardware issue. The camera can't keep focused for more than a few seconds, everything is always blurry and extremely noisy. It makes no sense because the camera takes amazing pictures and is top notch so why should the video recording quality not be the same???
I have to agree. My Pixel XL is awful in low light, with lots of noise. But the daytime shots are incredible.
hey guys, I am considering buying nova 3i, and I was wondering how this phone does in low light and if it have huawei night mode or not, also can it shoot super slow-mo yet ?

It has super slow-mo (16x) and normal slow-mo (4x).
And I received an update yesterday which enables super night mode (which was a flagship exclusive), and it is seriously awesome. You can take 7 second exposure photos HANDHELD. (So you can take photos at dark conditions when even you cannot see)

try this. try Pro mode in camera then set ISO to 50. set shutter speed to 5s. cover the lens then take a picture. does the picture have white dots despite covering the lens?

the super slow-mo video is it 1080p or 720p and does it have software video stabilisation. Finally, is the notch annoying ?

only @ 720p 120 or 480 fps. no EIS. Notch can be hidden. sometimes its annoying when the color does not match the app. like fb messenger it sets the status bar color to black and its annoying to look at.
if you're planning to buy this phone I'd recommend on saving more so you can buy a much better one.

Used to have white dots, but when I tested today there was not any. I don't know what caused this.
EDIT: I didn't try zooming the picture. There are white dots when I zoomed in.
Just got an update today that removed super night mode for standard night mode.
To prevent any misleading, the update doesn't remove Super Night Mode contrary to the post above. It improves the Super Night Mode and renames it as Night Shot Mode.
EDIT: Looks like it was removed for some regions, like Australia...

Have you tried taking one "handheld"?
I don't think it's possible considering this device doesn't even support EIS.
would you please share a photo that you've taken?

Not true for Australia, it completely removed super night mode and the 7 seconds record and replaced it with a photo only night shot so super night mode removed.
Just got the OnePlus 8 Pro today. Here's some real world photos with the phone. Everyone else post up what you got. I guess XDA compresses them down file sizes were 2.5 to 5.5 MB in size each. Any suggestions where else to upload them too?
Taken in normal mode

"Social distancing" where else would you like me to try and take photos at? Cars are my other hobby and I take tons of pictures of them. Only other thing I take tons of photos of is my baby but that's not getting posted publicly.

Okay check the 4 photos below...I did them in low light conditions as well.
I took first photo of the dining room from a distance. The phone applied some correction to see better detail (aka brighter than the room really was). I then shot the same area much closer up to try and get the camera to give an idea what the true darkness was of the room. That's the second photo. It gives you an idea how dark the room really looked. I then took a picture of the chic-fil-a packet auto mode (no nightscape) and then switched to the super macro mode and got up close. That's with the light off in that room in the dark. Did a solid job in my opinion. I circled the chic-fil-a thing on the distant shot.
NO FLASH full auto mode on camera (except for activating super macro for the real close up shot).
Nice shots.... I am coming from a pixel 4XL ... The night scape shots are lacking... Has anybody used gcam?

The OP8 camera tends to produce red images in low light, which is evident from your 3rd image
No need to use GCam. The GCam is better only for selfies.
