It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Samsung Galaxy S21 / S21+ / S21 Ultra before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Pretty damn average on S21 128GB Exynos version. Accubattery says max 6h on charged battery and it's pretty in line with my experience. Charged in the evening (around 19:00) and unplugged, I could only do 4 hours SOT before it died around 17:00 the next day.
I'm on 2.5h SOT. Same setup on p30 pro was giving me 7h of course it was without 5g and no 120hz but still it's a huge difference... let's see how it evolves
Previously I smartswitched and set everything up. I factory resetted the phone, SOT did not seem to get much better than previously reported but I think idle drain is a little better. I don't, however, have all apps set up yet and also changed Messenger to Lite, uninstalled facebook.
Battery life is poor on mine (Exynos) : around 2.5h SoT after a day of use, mostly in WiFi. I actually can't use it for a day even though I try to save as much battery as possible.
Initially migrated through SmartSwitch, I did a factory reset without this migration and still have poor battery life after 9 days of use.
I'm really considering returning the phone.

Just returned it, that's really not worth 700+€.
I have the unlocked snapdragon version, i dont know guys maybe you should try to do a hard reset. I'm getting great SOT with wifi and 5g

It's definitely not as good as my previous two or three devices. Especially my last one. But that's not a fair comparison. Most people don't own those or even know about them (Chinese imports - flagship chips with high refresh rate displays too). I've only owned this for just over a couple days and idle drain overnight is too high. Actual SOT is average. Not terrible or awesome. Just about acceptable. My concern is, how it will hold up in the one year or more life cycle of my ownership, if this is its performance four days into owning it.

The following are On all the time:
WiFi
Mobile Data
Bluetooth
Location
Sync
NFC
Power Saving Mode.
I dont manually put apps in deep sleep, i just leave that to the system to decide.
120hz refresh rate
Power save mode off
20% battery left, battery still shows 3h50min left unfortunately have to recharge.
I noticed a massive improvement in battery life on my S21 when setting a Bixby routine to automatically turn off mobile data and location services when connected to known wifi networks.
You can also set a routine for auto rotate to only work when opening certain apps, this will save you further power turning off that sensor until required.
Enable wifi calling under connections if you struggle with mobile signal in any areas where you are connected to wifi. This will assist with less stress on the phones battery searching for a better mobile connection.
Also turn off fast wireless charging in more battery settings if you do not make use of wireless charging.
My standby battery drain with the above settings is now nearly non existent.
Improvement in battery life after August update on S21
Using battery saving mode, since I already use 60hz (to save 15%) and already put WhatsApp and Telegram in sleep mode (and many others in deep sleep). I still get push from IM.
I don't have seen any problem and got much more SoT then shown here.
Soon I post a full battery only print.

That's quite average imho, isn't it? I mean after all the great reviews bout a 2-3 day battery life.. Was it more or less similar on the second charge?
Anyone else gettin better results?
I can't give any quantitative data, but qualitatively battery consumption is just awesome. I'm an ingress player so I'm used in measuring phone batteries in terms of ingress usage time. (screen on, GPS on, data on, moving around continously). The battery goes down sensibly more slowly than my previous phone.

First full charge with Stamina mode activated. Mostly browsing via WLAN, testing GPS, setting up Email etc..
74% used, over 6 hours screen on time over a period of 35 hours.
Very impressive so far. This is the first phone I've used that beats the LG G2 for battery life - and it trounces it!

Hey Ben it's pretty impressive indeed. Any stamina mode or so activated?
Nope. Just as it comes.
That's pretty awesome. Mine currently lasts around 16 hours, with heavy usage (I'll try to get screenshots in the coming days). Mind sharing the settings you're using?
Wow amazing! Do you mind sharing your app usage as well? Thanks!
That was just with general browsing using Chrome & tapatalk, video streaming using Showbox & BBC iplayer and general messing about with the phone. No games.
Auto brightness is on, stamina is turned off, but I do use greenify (non-root mode obviously) to kill apps when I've finished with them.
Amazing battery for me as well. I used the phone HEAVILY today! Lots of browsing and talk time.
There will be no problem getting over 6 hours on screen time.
This includes a lot of music playing as well, and the total is off by about two hours since I rebooted the phone at the AT&T store.
I had stamina mode enabled for some of that, but only the performance part, I disabled the part that turns off networking when sleeping. I honestly can barely tell any difference (except for longer battery life) between having stamina off/on when it's just the performance part, so I tend to leave it on now.
This is my 2nd day, I have 4h screen time and I'm around 45% now right before going to bed. Should easily get me to 2 days of full usage. Which is amazing. This is just the best smartphone ever if you ask me...

Can you give me more details about your settings? Do you use double tap to wake it up?
Here are my stats. I literally tried to use it as much as I could while watching NFL all day. I had a ton of usage today with lots of background processes. This is paired with moto360 all day with stamina mode on with exception of gmail and hangouts. One gmail account and exchange for work.
Forgot to mention I also have Acdisplay - came from a motox and can't live without this function now
Two days so far using it from 100 to basically zero.
Not as impress as I thought I would be. Does this seem normal to you guys?
No stamina mode activated because I wanted to see how long it could last alone. I was really hoping for the "2 day" battery life the reviews were raving about.
Think it may get better after a few more days?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Of course. I have double tap to wake on. BT and LTE are disabled unless I need it. Wifi/3G always on. Brightness is at about 30% with ambient sensor on.
Lost 3% over night, but I had a battery drainer app trying to access location all night! And I also really like, in battery stats display and cell standby are on the top. With my Samsung Android system/OS always was on top and it drove me crazy
Btw I'll post stats after another few cycles. This is just a first impression kinda thing with alot of usage time while setting up the phone.
Turned phone into stamina mode before going sleep with 37% remaining. T2w on. WiFi off.
Woke up 8 & half hours later and it dropped only 1%.
This phone is legend in standby mode. Bonkers
Does tap2wake supposedly increase battery drain?
I know it does on phones not designed for it but I figured phones designed for it would have a special kernel or something to reduce drain to normal levels...
As the title... To get a good average example... Please post (ideally with screenshots of battery stats) your screen on times for a single full charge of battery and please state whether you have a Z5, Z5C or Z5P . Whether you have sync and data/wifi active etc.. Auto brightness.. Any other deciding factors
Thankoooooo

3 hours, only my second day but thats with bluetooth/wifi on all day + full brightness (auto) + I live in a poor signal area
I am sure It will get better, its definatly far better than my galaxy s6.
Possibily very slightly worse than the Z3 but too early to tell.
3hrs SoT, WiFi all day, down to 29% now... Not stellar.
I've gotten 6 hours on my 3rd day, but I spent around 3 hours underground, so flight mode was switched on. Overall, I've spent a couple hours listening to Spotify and redditing for the most part of those 6hrs. I am pretty satisfied with the battery life, it's just a little bit worse compared to what I was getting on Z3.
5 hours in typical use with wifi or 3G data on.
~4.5 Hrs. Posted some screenshots -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63442175&postcount=97
Mine will soon hit > 5.5 Hrs though
So far so good for me. Before my Z5, I has a OnePlus One (known for its stellar battery life). Yup, the Z5 battery seems to drain faster than the OnePlus One when using it, but on the other hand I noticed it seems to use less power than my OnePlus on bluetooth + screen off, in the car. I always listen to the same podcast when I go to work in the morning (it takes 1 hour), and my Z5 lost only 2% this morning (from 100% to 98%). My OnePlus One would usually lose 4-5%.
I received my Z5 yesterday though, so I'll let it settle down a bit too. I will report back in a few days
Awesome device though. It's well built, it feels very premium compared to my older phones (a cheap OnePlus One that I liked a lot and an ugly but very good Galaxy Note 3)
Today I'm at 2hrs sot, and down to 40%. I've been offered a full refund, and I'll be taking the phone back on Monday.
I'm very disappointed in the z5, and perplexed how others seem to have great battery life.
Today so far and i was sat nav'ing for half an hour

I wonder if android system drain is same as other model. Seems like att also has the same issue, but one can dream.
Through the two days I've had mine, reports from other models have held true - Android System is the highest on the battery use list at around 30-35%. That said, I'm still getting 4.5 - 5 hours of screen on time, so the high Android System use isn't taking a major toll on the battery life.
Wait a week before answering this question. Everyone is going to be using their phones A LOT in the first couple days (tons of screen-on time) and in the meantime many things will be syncing and caching in the background for the first time.
Also, don't worry about what your battery stats says unless you are actually getting bad battery life. Android system notoriously is getting a bad rap right now even if the user's battery life is fine. Just leave it alone and enjoy the phone.
Cheers
OK! After a few days with brightness at around 15%, location on battery saving, data on overnight and not Wi-Fi, with email, texting, news, and tapa pulling data, am getting very good results. Looks like I can easily get 6+hours SOT.

Mine has been horrible since I got the phone 4 days ago. I lose bout 10% an hour or more. Not sure what's causing the drain. Phone stays slightly warm and google play services and android system are the top apps taking up the battery. If it stays this way, I will be forced to go back to V10 which gave me excellent battery life with same setup I have as S7Edge.
I am experiencing the same. I lose 10 percent an hour. I hope it changes.

I average about 3% an hour loss while at work (i.e. no wifi, bluetooth connected to Wear watch, and minimal SOT). So after 9 hours, I was around 73%. I'm getting about 5.5 hours of screen on time with playing games. Overall pretty good considering I have high-accuracy GPS enabled and no other power saving features enabled. I did disable a lot of app permissions for all the apps I have installed (i.e. I have ~250 apps installed) so not sure if that affected the battery life much.
I too am losing about 10%/hr. While I am impressed with the screen on time, I can get about 5.5hrs, the standby drain is crazy.

I don't know what you guys have running on your phones, but I'm not seeing anything close to that.
Mine dropped 15% in 8 hours overnight last night and about 30 minutes of screen time, with always on screen enabled. Which I consider acceptable. If I wanted to enhance that I could probably turn always on off, and enable greenpower to limit 4G when screen is off.
On St Patricks day (parade day), I was out for 6 hours, with 30 mins of screen time (just texting and pictures) and it drained from 100% to 92%.
The longest I've gone with out plugging it in so far has been about 15 hours, and that got me down 45% with 2 hours of screen on time. FAR better than what I got on my previous phone, the S5.

I'm getting an average of 7 hrs sot. This thing's a beast.
It's alright, 30hrs runtime, 11hrs SOT, 50% brightness mostly Web browsing (notice lightning+ 15%). I can make it work.
I got 12hrs of battery until it was completely dead on my initial 3 days of use. Android system was at 40-45% which seems high. Wiped system cache, disabled Nearby Device scanning, and turned off sync for a couple useless accounts and battery seems to have gotten way better. I will see how battery drain is overnight and tomorrow.
Side note: I always keep on Wi-Fi, Location, Bluetooth, Mobile Data, Always On Display. Disabling these features seems non-realistic for a normal user.
~1.5 days normal usage right now. I'm sure it could be 2 if I put it down more often, or didn't work in a bad service area.
Everything is always on. Location, WiFi, Bluetooth, and Auto brightness.
After a few days, mine is really really good. Hardly any standby discharge at all, and easily make it through the day and charge anywhere between 50-65% at night.

The new system update seemed to have helped. Also I turned off location for a lot of apps that I won't use regularly since it might start using it in the background. Auto brightness is off and my brightness is always about half way or just under. Most other things are on like AOD. Not sure what else could have caused it.
It's always a good idea to check the battery graph page and see what apps are at the top of the list to figure out why your battery isn't doing well. Maybe it depends what you do on the phone too. For me it's mostly web browsing and watching videos.
Full charge in about 1 hour 15 minutes,
SOT averages on 4-5.5 hours
Standby drain is about 1-2% per hour
First few days I had about 2-3h SOT.
Now, after a week I am finally seeing 4 hours. Not very impressed. Only thing I have turned off is AOD and auto brightness. How people get above 5h is beyond me.
EDIT:
Wifi on all day, bad reception area and still 3h SOT with 50% battery left. Looks like the battery life is improving. Note that brightness was at about 20-30%
Best I've gotten so far. Very impressed after a terrible start with the battery life.
Hi guys, I have phone 7 days now and at the atart the battery was quite bad, but now it somehow improved.. I browse web a lot and watch youtube.. Mixed usage of WiFi and 4G. With those numbers I think I could get 7 hours SoT. I was thinking that I will switch the phone for plus version, because of thr battery, but I like the small factor of regular 9. So Im quite happy, that battery is improving after a week. Im on exynos version.
This is what I'm getting on my S9 (SD 845). Picked it up on Friday so have had it for a little over 48 hrs.
https://imgur.com/a/nfeCR
How are you guys getting over 5 hours of SOT and full day of use?
My phone drains 15-19% per hour with the screen on. At night while I'm sleeping the phone drains 1.5% per hour but during the day I'm seeing 4-6% battery drain with the screen off.
I'm using AOD, no battery saving, auto brightness, Location/Scanning on, Bluetooth on, wifi on but only if screen is on or charging.
Coming from my Oneplus 5, I'm getting around maybe half to 1/3 of the battery life of my old phone.
Will the phone get better battery life soon? Seems like everyone else is reporting terrible battery life the first few days.
Should I just throw this garbage away?
Sick of this sh*t. AOD off, WQHD+ Medium Brightness Exynos.
as expected
2nd day, and got 6hrs sot. that's with setting up the phone, taking a lot of photos at a friend's wedding and posting on Instagram, watching YouTube, trying out different themes, downloading and listening to songs on Spotify, having GPS with multiple Uber rides, AOD on, and group messaging throughout. not as good as my previous S8+, but about what I expected with the smaller battery. this is on Snapdragon, without battery saver, and always on entertainment mode.
I've had it for about 5 days and so far haven't seen SOT of longer than 3 hours. Starting to regret selling my S8+ now. I was getting 4-6 hours with that, and 500mAh shouldn't be that different. I have AOD on, HD res (not QHD), and just WiFi enabled, all other connections (NFC etc) off.
Been about 4 days on mine and have started to see 4 1/2 maybe 5 on sot. Similar to my old s8+.
What I did is fully charge and deplete battery to 0. Charge again to 100 and did trick for me.
When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the OnePlus 7 Pro's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
No one has mentioned it yet so I thought I left a comment.
Standby drain is great. Less than 1.0%/hr in my use case. (AccuBattery: 103h)
Have had Samsung Exynos phones before which had extremely bad standby drain, the Xiaomis I have/had have a lot better standby drain but not as good as my OP7 Pro
I'm seeing between .3% and .8% drain when idle. I think it depends on if I'm listening to music or YouTube vids with the screen off or it's just truly idle doing nothing.
Yesterday I left my phone with 85% over night, nearly all connections turned on (Wifi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC) and 6 hours later I was down to 82%. Didn't expect that. I love it!
Over all stand by time isn't to bad, but usage of the phone isn't very yet. I've only had the phone for two days and I'm noticing heavier battery drain then from my note 9 the 845 processor. Going to give a few more days and see. All in all I like the phone. Just my thoughts

Well, the standby is pretty nice, according to me it drops like 2-3% overnight leaving Wi-Fi, Bluetooth on. I previously had a OnePlus One, running POSP (4-6 hr SOT) so it feels great upgrading.
It's about 0.5% per-hr for me overnight and 1% during day. Much better than my last phone with far less spec but has a ton of bloatware.
I read a lot of complaints about battery drain in OnePlus' Chinese forum but I think it's all due to unscrupulous apps by companies like Tencent and Baidu who continuously track and steal user info because I also have HydrogenOS but thanks to Oneplus I was able to completely uninstall all those apps.
I have to say standby drain is great. Coming from pixel 3 on busy work days, I barely used my phone outside of phone calls and Waze to and from work. I would get home always under 50% and be dead by 10pm. It's currently 1am and I am still at 44% on op7 pro.
Standy drain is good. It's dropping few percents over night but it's not like 1% or more per hour. More like a 0.5%/h. Even during the day with 4g data enabled its really ok. I'm very pleased with it, definitely better than my old Galaxy S6 Edge Plus which was more and more inconsistent with new updates

do you have ram boost enabled? are you on AA or BA?
Mine drops on average 1.7% per hour according to AccuBattery. I do a lot of YouTube streaming with the screen of though.
Hi,
I have had the OP7Pro for over 3 days now and I think the battery has settled after the initial indexing and setup. The phone was kept overnight at 52% at 10:30 pm and today morning at 6 a.m. it was down to 36% which about 16% drain over 7.5 hours. I don't have a lot of apps running in the background except for Gmail, Whatsapp, weather and normal google services. Is it normal to see such a drain? Or, do I need to need to wait for another 3 or 4 charge cycles for the battery/ system to really settle down?
Amit
Pretty good idle about 0.3 per hr
As always on this kind of threads I see wonder numbers.
I get 0.7%/hr which isn't bad at all, but it's far from 0.3. I am on EX kernel, no other tweaks.
around 2-3% an hour on standby. Got the usual apps (snapchat, instagram etc, no Facebook tho)

My device has abt 5% drop over night but that's cause of Instagram and WhatsApp notifications running in the background, otherwise it's standby time is grt
Battery life also depends upon the cellular signal in your area
Lower signal mean more battery sucking
The most I have seen mine drop overnight is 5-6%, with Bluetooth on an Wireless off. I have had the T-Mobile OnePlus 7 Pro for about a month now and have messed with settings and even tried flashing the international version.
9.5.9.GM31CB - T-Mobile Firmware seems to provide the best battery life for me.
9.5.10.GM21AA - International Firmware saw more drain, idle and with usage.
Pretty impressed. 3rd day of ownership, not rooted get. Gm1917 on WiFi. 40% battery yeilded me over 6 hours sot.
