Last July, ZTE replaced my Axon7 A2017U with a brand new one. Today while typing a text message the screen suddenly went dark. I had to reboot and saw the ZTE boot screen and swoosh animation, albeit with the right half discolored. But when Android should have displayed, instead I got a screen full of green horizontal lines that seem to refresh (or try to anyway) at a snail's pace. Turning the screen off and back on again, the lines come back very slowly before the screen goes dark again. I can hold the power button to reboot, and again the ZTE boot screen displays but beyond the swoosh animation it's only the green lines.
So the hardware display seems capable of showing the ZTE logo and swoosh but nothing else? That's weird. Sadly I had no terminal app, no usb debug turned on so Vysor can't find the device. I can get to (and see) the boot menu, but before I try a factory wipe I thought I'd seek xda-developers expertise on how/whether I might make progress toward recovery. Your insights would be much appreciated.

Galaxy S2
2 months old
no custom roms and not unlocked
no problems prior to this
On 3 network
assuming the issue is a screen related problem:
The screen at first was flickering bright lines on and off in random positions and also the lower segment of the screen would be black and not visible.
Then within about 30 minutes of this happening 90% of the screen has been black, with just the notification bar visible.
Bringing you up to date on the situation now. The screen is completely black but the device is definitely still on and fully working as I have received 2 text messages in the time of writing this and also I was able to press the camera app and auto focus and take a picture and view it on my laptop but the screen remained black the entire time while i did this.
Not sure what to do with the phone as I'm unable to reboot in recovery mode or restore to factory settings.
I will be going into the three shop now and seeing if they can replace the handset.
Has anyone else had this issue?
Any help/advice is greatly appreciated
Hi
I noticed this two times now and sadly I did not make a photo of it. I will try to describe it:
The phone is in standby, I press the power button and the display stays black. Over 10 seconds, the black slowly faded to a sort of gray blur. It somehow looked like a can of white wall paint was spilled over the black display. Another buttonpress turned it off again and then it worked normal again. So the phone was still working in the background, not crashed. This also happened one time while I booted the phone, right at the google logo.
What is this?? Is it a defect, or just software bug??
Thanks!

Flash the stock Nexus 4 image, and if it still happens, get an RMA
I can do that, although I am still on stock and unrooted. Only applied ota 4.2.1 update. But I will give it a try!
edit: found two people on german forum who also witnessed this! so more possibly a software problem?
edit2: Got RMA
I've used the lg flash tool to go back to stock several times in the past never really had any major issues. Today something went very wrong.
After the flash the phone boots on its own. I saw the lg logo, and then android with the blue bar under him. Then instead of seeing the verizon logo come up i get all black screen and it says:
Insecure boot.ing
cause=
This is up in the left hand top corner of the screen. There is no cause its just blank.
At this point the phone justs repeats those same 3 steps above over and over until i hold the power button to turn it off.
Next problem is i can't get it to stay in download mode again to repeat the process. The phone enters download mode for a slit second and flashes a bunch of white writing up in the top left hand corner of the phone so fast i cant read it and then the screen goes black.
Anyone seen any of this before?
I'm lost at this point...
So my screen is showing streaks extending the width of the display extending from text or images. I have attached photos to demonstrate. Weird part is that when the phone first boots up, the LG logo doesn't show the problem. Once the Verizon splash screen starts so does the issue. And it doesn't go away. I have already done 2 factory resets to no avail. The little green android guy that shows up during the factory reset also doesn't have the problem. Any ideas?
So i once took my phone to charge before going to bed and the next morning the screen was just black and the phone was "dead". The screen was black, nothing reacting. Rebooting was possible, but screen still black. I went through a whole night trying to figure out whats wrong and lastly i flashed the stock rom using the recovery tool and accidently ended up locking the bootloader with a non working screen.
Today the replacement screen arrived, i connected the new one, restarted the phone and still its just the screen lighting up a few seconds then turning off as soon as the redmi should appear. It does look like its not the screen but still something in the software. Is there anything i can still do to rescue the phone or is it just dead?
greetings

Try going into the stock recovery mode through hardware buttons (Hold Vol+ and Power) and try and factory reset.
