Hi,
Is anyone else having issues not being able to disable instant apps in Chrome/Google search results?
(Obviously it's disabled in Settings > Apps and Notifications > Default Apps > Opening Links > Instant App (toggled off) and Instant App Preferences > Upgrade Web links (toggled off))
Yet when using Chrome/Google search and look for instance anything on twitter, it will open Twitter no matter what. This only is an issue in Chrome/Google widget. Firefox is fine.
Steps to reproduce Issue:
OP8 Pro with OOS 10 or OOS 11, latest Google/Chrome/Play services/Twitter app installed.
1) Use chrome or google search bar widget
2) Search anything on twitter using google
3) Click the search result (a tweet for instance)
4) Link opens in Twitter app and not in Browser no matter the above settings
Setting Twitter app defaults to not open any links doesn't change the behavior.
Rebooting/Cleaning Cache/OOS Upgrade doesn't affect the behavior.

I try to use browser to view facebook but it show connection error,so can`t play FaceBook games. it's that any fix?
In the address bar type about:debug and then go to settings>debug and change uastrings to desktop then type about:debug to get out of debug again
You can do what he said, but I found that I would often go back to android mode. So I have switched to dolphin browser HD and set it to desktop mode as default and have a gesture set up if I want to use mobile mode. Much easier and no problems with Facebook or other sites yet.

I had this issue. Only started after installing the facebook app. I uninstalled the app and clear cache and changed uastring to desktop and it works pretty good. Only issue is after several hours of the tablet being idle and the tab open I see the issue pop up. I close the tab and launch a new one and I am good to go.
thank you for reply
im having serious facebook issues on my tablet too!
the facebook app never worked for me properly (couldnt see the feed screen) so i uninstalled it. I also tried connecting my facebook in Pulse Newsreader but that also didnt work either. Only way I could get it working was via the built in social jogger app which actually has quite a nice interface but is somewhat limited.
Also last night I tried browsing facebook via the default browser and it loaded the first time and then stopped loading after clicking a 'see all comments' link.
anyone know the cause?
Hi, I'm running CM7 n96 on my NC. The Facebook app seems to be running fine, but as soon as i select 'Places' the app force closes. I tried uninstalling and then re-installing, didn't help. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Yes Sir- Every time I try to go there using the facebook app-Boom, FC!
I got so tired of trying to use the app, I just go there using a browser now!
Here's a workaround I found:
1) enable GPS fine location in Location Settings.
2) Enable mock locations in Development Settings.
3) Install TetherGPS from Marketplace, the client version which is what's needed is free.
4) Start the TetherGPS client before opening the Places section of the FB app.
This prevents Places from crashing, as well as several other apps I have that display the same behavior when calling to the non-existant GPS.
Is there a way to disable the N7 from logging me in and offering to log me in to every Google re-seed webpage and service? I like to share my N7, but I don't like that if you open Chrome to Gmail.com, it will log into the Gmail service automatically or offer to do so. I can use a security app like App Protector to lock down the Gmail APP, but I don't want to disable Chrome entirely. I just don't want people to be able to use Chrome on the N7 to be able to log into Gmail, G+, etc.
How can I do this?

UPDATE: Better, but still no solution.
I found that Chrome has a settings (tap menu, then Settings, then tap your email address listed at the top of the menu immediately below "Basics"). There you will find an option called "Auto sign-in (sign into to Google sites automatically)." By un-ticking this box, it no longer offer to log me into Gmail, merely because I visit gmail.com (or mail.google.com).
This is only partially helpful. Anyone who knows this can simply open the settings and tick the box and then get into my Gmail. The solution is to password-protect the Settings menu in Chrome. Devs, I'd pay for that.
I've a serious problem.
I can't recive push notifications (whatsapp, messenger etc.)
Only if i open the app.
I had the same problem a few months ago but the problem was greenify Now it's disabled but the notifications don't arrive.
Firstly double check the settings from inside the app. Then check app settings from "app info"(tap and hold on app in recents or app drawer or alternatively go to settings-> general-> Application Manager. Also check Xprivacy(or any other similar apps I.E App Ops), if you have that installed.
One thing I've also noticed, since KK, Sync must be enabled for some network using apps to push notifications. So also try enabling Sync and check that "Restrict Background Data" is not enabled in Data Usage/(menu key) advanced settings. This last point is especially important for use on mobile data.
Here's a few apps that may help if the above doesn't resolve your problem.

Don't thank me, I'm useless
THIS METHOD IS BUGGY. USE IT WISELY!
Thanks for jan.nowak, and after doing some research, all Google features are working perfectly.
Here is the walkthrough:
0. Boot your device to home screen. If you are using ADB to install, make sure you enabled USB Debugging in Developer Settings.
0a. (Optional) Use ADB from your PC or download APK files to your phone and install.
1. Check the Android version. My version is 7.1.1 (I don't see any difference on this at the moment) [REMEMBER: ONLY INSTALL THE APK THAT MATCHES YOUR ANDROID VERSION!].
2. Download and install Google Services Framework from APKMirror. Make sure you download noarch Android 7.1+ nodpi.
3. Download and install Google Play services from APKMirror. Make sure you download arm64 + arm Android 6.0+ nodpi [Version I used: 12.5.20 (040400-189423146)].
4. Download and install Google Account Manager from APKMirror. Make sure you download noarch Android 6.0+ nodpi.
5. Download and install Google Play services from APKMirror. Just get the latest, but not targeted for 8.0+.
6. Download and install Google Contacts Sync from APKMirror. There should be only one for 7.1.1 version.
7. Reboot your device. Then try to add Google account in the Account settings. It might have sync issue, but few times rebooting and checking out Contact app, it should sync your contact.
Troubleshooting:
1. The contact sync is a bit weird, try to disable/enable the sync options in Account settings and check your Contact app.
2. Gmail should work now, if it doesn't work, try to run
Code:
adb logcat *:E
and see whats the error just after GMail error. If you see j
Code:
ava.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: dlopen failed: "/data/app/com.google.android.gms-1/lib/arm/libgmscore.so" is 32-bit instead of 64-bit
that means you have installed the wrong Google Play Services. Please install arm64+arm version.
How about Google Calendar? I'm unable to sync it. Solutions?
Other apps for e-ink?
I have other issue with phone. I wonder if you found some solutions to those:
1. It seems system it kills an app after a day of inactivity. There is one option that tries to save energy, so puts an app into after roughly 5 minutes after locking the device. Kind of annoying because it was killing massenger/whatsapp's calls. I've managed to switch that off in settings. However, it seems that it still can put WhatsApp into sleep after a day of inactivity. Do you know how to keep apps alive - so, I don't have to check WhatsApp - just in case it was put to sleep.
Off topic:
2. What apps support e-ink display? I can use Kindle for it - which is great - but it would be nice to use more than one app. I use from time to time trick posted by ian.nowak - to use "mirror mode" into e-ink. But it works until you lock the device. So, maybe you can advice e-ink friendly apps. Any tip or trick will be greatly appreciated.
What doesn't work still - the most important dysfunctions:
- email push notifications,
- messenger notifications (and probably notifications from most "push applications"),
- autostart of some apps,
- SMS quite often do not reach my phone.

I see a constant issue with google, the play service is unstable, might be related to the kernel or auto-killing problem. As i do not own the phone, i cant test it very often. Try to reboot the phone might help

- Autostart of app during boot, might need more test first, but seems has no issue woth whatsapp.
- gmail confirmed no issue. Check settings does it has any sync issue, logcat should help a bit.
- sms/messenger/email should be related to the previous issue.

1. Might have a look when have a time. Seems it has a auto-killing issue or disconnection after time.
2. Well, this is weird as they do not create a lot of apps that support e-ink, seems you can only read ebooks and news with official provided apps only. Although i am native chinese, i still dont find them very useful at all. Sadly speaking, the major usage of the screen is just the wallpaper.

SMS I don't see much relations (no sync options, not related (directly) with Google services).
im having the same issue with the google calendar syncing. Any ideas?
anybody have any insight on this? I have my buddies yotaphone 3 and it wont sync the calendar :/
